Attorney in d. C. Has jurisdiction over federal and local crimes. The d. C. U. S. Attorney is acting like the local prosecutor as well. Their job. Here in washington when we just heard that heartbreaking story from that mother who lost her son over the weekend. There is something that d. O. J. Could do. They could devote resources in a way that no other u. S. Attorney can in the entire country and go after this violent crime. Dana it is not just in d. C. We could pick any city and these problems are up. D. C. Has a significant problem but the fact that there is not enough police. Police are demoralized and you have prosecutors not doing their job all over the country. When you think about the Justice Department, what kind of conversations do you think they might have having about what sort of responsibility they have to try to figure out a way to help these cities who are desperate . At a minimum i would hope they would gather in a Conference Room and discussing how they can assure the American Public that they are, in fact, enforcing the law. These are conversations we had all the time at d. O. J. People would be frustrated. We wanted to make sure what and how we were doing it. Going back to d. C. The u. S. Attorney has a unique power in that they can go after local crime. U. S. Attorneys in other states and cities cannot. We have three people murdered in cold blood Saturday Night here in washington a few miles from the Justice Department. The next day the department of justice puts out a Press Release on marking 31 months of investigating and prosecuting january 6th folks who were involved in the riots. One has to ask if they could apply that same aggressiveness and vigor to cleaning up the streets in d. C. And making it safe would there be a difference . I would say there would be and could be. Thats a real opportunity for them. Bill this prosecutor has declined at much higher rates than you find in philly, detroit, chicago. They are claiming that most of these crimes are gun, drug and there is no arguing with how high the marred rate in and whether guns and unlawful guns are involved in those murders is a different question.
