is heading to nevada. benjamin: do you know a year ago fauci said we would not have vaccines until may, everyone will be vaccinated or be eligible for vaccine by may. moving on, former director of national intelligence john redcliff said what we didn't hear and need to hear is how we will hold china accountable for unleashing the pandemic. >> china's actions were a direct and proximate cause of the death of all half-million americans as a result of covid-19 so if i were sitting down with china that is where i would start and wouldn't move on until i got a commitment from them to get the cooperation we need to move forward and get the answers to make sure we never have a pandemic like this again. carley: as top us officials prepare to meet next week, florida congressman has an idea on holding china's feet to the fire later this hour. jillian: new york lawmakers luncheon impeachment investigation against embattled governor andrew cuomo. benjamin: here's more on the program the police report is filed against the governor over sexual harassment. carley: governor cuomo's political career on the ropes and took another striking blow yesterday, lawmakers opening impeachment investigation against him that will examine sexual harassment claims a nursing home cover-up scandal. the decision comes as 120 new york lawmakers are calling on the governor to resign or be impeached, that number includes 65 democrats. new york city mayor bill deblasio doubling down on his call for cuomo to go. >> is not one, 2, 3, 4, 5, six women who have come forward. it is deeply troubling and he can no longer serve as governor. jillian: republicans in the state legislature say the impeachment investigation is a democrat for designed to buy cuomo more time, chairman laneworthy saying we have ample evidence that proves andrew cuomo is unfit to serve in anything short of the full impeachment is a conflicted move to keep him as governor. those who lost loved ones in nursing homes agree, 150 victims sending cuomo a scathing letter saying it is clear you put your own political reputation and personal profits above the well-being of our most vulnerable family members are calling on you to resign immediately because you have abused the office of governor and failed to uphold your duty to care for new yorkers and in another shocking blow the governor could potentially be facing a criminal investigation over the latest accusation he aggressively groped a female later the governor's mansion late last year. cuomo's office notifying police acting counsel to the governor beth garvey saying they did that as a matter of state policy. benjamin: i believe senator schumer has been taking a dig at cuomo as well. jillian: chuck schumer announcing it will be handed to bill deblasio for the city's covid-19 vaccination effort, making clear the money is going to bypass governor cuomo in albany in an apparent day. take a listen. >> with the mayor of self guidance sexual harassment allegations against the embattled governor, facing multiple investigations, moving quite quickly in washington and new york. benjamin: refusing to even discuss resignation. let's talk about overnight protesters set fire to a courthouse in portland, a group of 60 people storming police outside the building. one person was arrested. ted wheeler announced he is seeking $2 million to fund police, gun violence bikes across the city. benjamin: a wrongly convicted man walks free after 34 years in prison. benjamin spencer convicted of a deadly carjacking in 1987, always maintained his innocence, finding no physical evidence linking him to the crime. a similar story in michigan after this receipt clears the matter further, prosecutors releasing offered after 5 years in prison, he was wrongly convicted for the shooting of a man in 2011. alfred is suing the rental car company thing his lawyers issued multiple subpoenas for that receipts during his trial but failed to provide demanding answers including our next guest who lost her mother, jamie nicholson is here to share her story. thank you for joining us. so start to talk to you under the circumstances but appreciate you giving us time and sharing your story. let's talk about your mother. she was 76 when she passed away and you cared for her tremendously at great length for 16 years after she was diagnosed with alzheimer's. telling what happened last year. >> we worked so hard and loved mom so much caring for her and march 11th of last year, mom's there's locked us out. dad and i were prevented from any contact for 11 months, the final month of her life she was faced with more restrictions moved to a different facility and finally died of depression and loneliness. we watched her over 11 months fade away and by through a window and on screen. jillian: my heart breaks for you. what was the best thing about your mother? tell me about her. >> mom had a vibrant personality even though she was in different facilities, fully dependent on care for the last three years of her life, everyone around her remarked that her smile, her energy, her laughter, i would take her dancing in her wheelchair, swinging around and clearing out the chairs and tables in the cafeteria. she would light up and hold my hand, dad would hold her hand and watch their favorite shows to gather even when she was institutionalized. jillian: silica beautiful woman and you celica beautiful family. i will keep you here with us, bring in the spokesman for michigan's republican party, ted, lawmakers are requesting an investigation of what happened here and governor witmer's handling of this pandemic. can you tell me about where you stand on this and how you are trying to get answers? >> our hearts go out to the family and all the loved ones we have lost over the course of this pandemic. this story is playing out repeatedly across the state of michigan and many parts of this country. the prosecutor announced at a press conference that he is looking for individuals who may have lost loved ones inside nursing homes and assisted care facilities, who filed police reports with police because the laws do not allow the prosecutor to gain access to information he needs to find the truth about nursing home policies and what happened that may have led to unnecessary and avoidable deaths. sean: it is hard to watch the fight in new york? all of the attention is warranted and deserved in new york and michigan, wherever else this could have happened, for families to get answers but a lot of the focus the last few months is been on new york and just now we are talking about michigan. do you feel you are a step forward in trying to get answers? >> dad and i talk about this regularly and it is hard, hard for us to turn on the tv. the cards that came in the mail with sympathy but also strengthens our resolve. it is something i inherited from her and learned from her and i am ready. i was talking with senator jim runstead, she encouraged me to mobilize people as much as we could, we came up with a group on facebook like the parents of athletes who organize 30,000 people and got on the steps of the capital and shortly thereafter the governor changed policies that allowed those individuals, we want to do that, we have a facebook group called save our seniors michigan. we are organizing and in this fight together so nobody has to go through what we did. jillian: governor witmer stands by the policy, she ended that practice after the first excellence of the pandemic. a lot of people like around and come up on our side. over the years we had damage to houses that cut into the house, go to san antonio, texas. there has been that kind of stuff for years. the difference now where you used to see 2 or 3 footprints in a week or 2 now you are seeing two, 12, 15 footprints overnight. it is literally nuts right now. >> you sound -- drug seizures are up 50% since january. how do you know if there is someone out there whether they are a cartel member armed with you protecting yourself? >> no way to know. you won't see it. you have to be very apprehensive. now we have to carry, if i go down with my wife or family, it is always a little bit unnerving. we have to try to keep anyone out but they are determined also. it has escalated greatly. jillian: i would be curious to see how it goes because a lot of traffic numbers are increasing. we've got to check with you in another month or two to see what you are seeing. >> best to you and your family. the time is 25 after the hour. it you for being with us. this is a growing scandal. more and more accusers coming out at the moment. we have response from the acting counsel to the governor. as a matter of state policy allegations of physical contact i made the agency informed the complainant to contact the local police department. governor cuomo did not reach out and that has been done on his behalf. where is this going? >> interesting that mayor bill deblasio's own party is pushing for his resignation. anyone knows there is no love lost between them even though we didn't know governor cuomo was accused of sexual harassment, we've seen him harass people on tv and in public over the years and bill deblasio has been a major target. it is not surprising he's reversing the table and calling for cuomo's resignation especially during the pandemic, this is where it was headed. jillian: how long will it take before we see some movement on this was more and more people calling for this investigation, calling for his resignation, calling for impeachment but seems all we are hearing from governor cuomo is denial. when will we hear something more? >> hard to say when the dam will break. the party calling for his resignation is because he has been such a force in new york and a fair turnabout but as these allegations increase in number, hope it goes away but that is the strategy, and hope everybody forgets. jillian: if you left new york because of the pandemic you should get the payout. i rarely offer an opinion. i find this to be insane. here's what it says. you can't just march back in as if you own the place, city hall should move to enforce a resettlement tax returning new yorkers. to move to warmer places, they live in florida or where they want to be. this is a great country. shouldn't we be able to move where we want to move and if you can't afford your rent during a pandemic go somewhere where you can. >> absolutely. hard to say if this is satire because it wasn't funny. so many friends left new york because they couldn't afford it, we stayed in new york through 2020 but i don't begrudge anybody who left. it is okay for people to vote with their feet. it was on the opinion page. >> only 5% of people in new york. they lost their jobs, why not spend time with the family. and and it should the light. thank you, appreciate your view. jillian: senior meteorologist janice dean is >> we interviewed you on the show january 20 second. >> the breaking point is we have to close down at some point. >> reporter: you have a 70% reduction in staff. this is not been without challenges. you and a number of other sued the governor to get outdoor dining reopened. >> california is the only state, outdoor dining was close. >> how many times have you had to pivot your business plan. we are a small café. hotel guests were not allowed the café guests were allowed. there was a lot of pivoting. but it also kind of slowed me down, purchased another restaurant off the street with another hotel, not ready to expand just yet. >> in florida to build something like this, could you have done this in other states? >> we could have done it in other states but we wouldn't be opening for another year. >> it opens people's eyes to the impact this has on your business. our current tenants and business partners are fleeing from states that have been overregulated in terms of arbitrary covid shutdowns. >> we had people come up to us on the street and it is a bigger deal than we ever thought. the analogy i have given his after a forest fire everything is burnt up. when you start seeing that first green shoot come up, sales will be back to how the forest was before and i think the community will respond in that way that shows life goes on and there is hope after this. >> my days in government, definitely less now but my faith in my country is not at all. i look at our community and other business owners and employees and everybody in the community and everyone is ready to go and ready to get back to it. jillian: what this shows is when you have construction and development you have jobs and so florida has provided a lot of jobs for people not just in florida but for people out-of-state where they have been so restrictive, where people haven't been able to work, they moved out of california to get work and that is one of the things we kept hearing over and over from our interviews in california, we lost our workers to other states because they can't drive here. benjamin: think about the covid relief bill that was just past and think that gives some stimulus, 9% but stimulus they would rather have being allowed to reopen and get back at those tables, buying goods, that is the best stimulus for the economy. it is not hand outs we have to pay for many years and generations to come. allow them to open. that is what they do best. jillian: interviews with jim owners across the country. benjamin: congressman brian mass says we need to hold china accountable for the pandemic, joins us live coming up next. genuine idaho potatoes not just a side dish anymore. always look for the grown in idaho seal. dry, distressed skin that struggles? >> they do need to be held accountable. past a different idea when you talk of any conversation of full, faith and trust of u.s. currency. what we need to see the 160 plus member nation of trade organization go out there and adjudicate what responsibility we are going to hold beijing to in terms of the origins of the coronavirus. did it begin in wuhan in the virology lab, what happened, what did they cover-up, what did they work to cover up with the world health organization that allowed this to spread across the globe and make sure they are held accountable and we need to do it as global entities and especially acknowledge this. there's not one chance in the world that china is going to give us a yen, dollar, a pound sterling, an ounce of gold, a euro or anything else, we need to be looking at other ways how is it exactly that we will be compensated for that. >> the w.h.o. went out there recently and by all accounts they were not allowed to get access to do research and do background checks on where this came from. china owns about -- owns a trillion dollars of u.s. debt. isn't the flip side of this, though, if we were to cancel that or refuse to repay those loans, that debt that we would not be able to get loans elsewhere. that's the flip side? >> that's exactly what i pointed to, you have to be careful when you're talking about full, faith and trust of the u.s. currency. what does that do to interest rates and that's something that you have to say it's not a default on debt. it's something that's adjudicated and there has to be a due process to hold china accountable and the world trade organization and member nations, not just the united states of america, but there's only one country that can actually lead on this and that's the united states of america. nobody else is going to change charge on that. >> sticking with china, there's some growing concerns, a commander who is warning that the u.s. is losing our edge in asia as china goes unchecked. >> as china continues to increase the size of liberation army endo pacific is becoming more unfavorable if united states and allies. i cannot understand some of the capabilities that they're putting in the field unless it is an aggressive posture. >> very, very worrying from the admiral. are we not paying attention from the rising threat of china? >> we are paying attention to this. let's look at what the admiral is speaking about. their growth and carrier strike groups and what exactly does a carrier strike group give you? it gives you destroyers, submarines, supply ships and things like that all in one package but more specifically when you're talking about a nuclear power carrier, unlimited range, no need to refuel for probably about 50 years or so. the capability to fly hundreds of stories a day and move that entire group right off of somebody's shores across the ocean. you're only building the capability for one reason and that's if you're planning on moving it across the ocean. >> very worrying and the biden administration meeting and we will see if he holds them into account. >> wish you all the best. >> and you. jillian: benjamin, this was a fun week, what do you say we can do it next week?
