Fourth Florida execution this year after US Supreme Court denies death row inmate's appeal

Duane Owen became the fourth prisoner put to death in Florida in 2023 after the US Supreme Court denied his appeal for a stay based on mental incompetency. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is seeking the Republican presidential nomination, signed his death warrant.
