LAKE PLACID — There will be four open seats in the village of Lake Placid government in the spring election: mayor, two trustees and justice.
Meanwhile, people can begin collecting signatures for independent nominating petitions on Tuesday, Dec. 29. according to Village Clerk Anita Estling. Fifty signatures from village residents are needed to get on the ballot as an independent. The first day to file independent nominating petitions is Feb. 2, and the last day to file is Feb. 9.
The village election is Tuesday, March 16.
After hitting his three-term limit as mayor, Craig Randall will be retiring from village government in the spring after 12 years at the helm. He’s sold his Northway Motel on the Wilmington Road and is moving into an apartment in the village until the end of his term, when he will move to Peru, he said Wednesday, Dec. 23.
