Urban One, a national radio station headquartered in Silver Spring focusing on the African American community, was honored for its 40 years on the air when U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen entered the achievement into the
Congressional Record.
He called Founder and Chairperson Cathy Hughes “a tenacious entrepreneur, visionary radio personality, and powerful advocate for the African-American community,” adding that Hughes “has left an indelible mark on the State of Maryland and inspired millions of listeners across the country.”
