Queensland has the koala, the Cooktown orchid and the sapphire as emblems – now a petition could unearth an official state fossil.
The petition, put together by the Australian Age of Dinosaurs museum in Winton in outback Queensland, suggested the fossil of
Diamantinasaurus matildae be made the official state fossil.

The petition, now with 775 signatures, was first handed to the government last year during the caretaker period in the lead-up to the state election, but the Premier has now responded and said she was open to the idea.
