Fort Smith raises starting teacher salaries to compete with Northwest Arkansas

The School District has reallocated roughly $4.5 million for certified staff salaries in the 2022-2023 school year. This raises the minimum teacher salary by 14.3%, from $38,500 last school year to $44,000 this school year, if they have only a bachelor's degree.
