TONIGHT IN FORT DODGE. THE CHURCH THAT LOST ITS PASTOR IN A BRUTAL MURDER NEARLY TWO YEARS AGO IS TRYING TO MOVE ON JOSHUA PENDLETON WAS CONVICTED IN THE DEATH OF PASTOR AL HENDERSON EARLIER THIS WEEK. KCCI SENIOR REPORTER TODD MAGEL WENT TO FORT DODGE TODAY TO SPEAK WITH HENDERSON’S WIDOW AFTER THE JURY’S DECISION TODD IT’S BEEN A TOUGH WEEK FOR : THE MEMBERS OF THE ST PAUL’S LUTHERAN CHURCH HERE IN FT DODGE. AND AN EVEN TOUGHER WEEK FOR THE FAMILY OF THE LATE PASTOR ALLEN HENDERSON. >> WAITING FOR THE VERDICT WAS HARD. WE WERE RELIEVED, I WILL SAY THAT. TODD: KRIS HENDERSON IS FINALLY ABLE TO MEDIA FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE HER HUSBAND WAS BRUTALLY ATTACKED AND KILLED OUTSIDE THE SAINT PAUL’S LUTHERAN CHURCH MORE THAN A YEAR AND A HALF AGO. THIS WEEK A JURY FOUND JOSHUA PENDLETON GUILTY OF FIRST-DEGREE MURDER IN THE DEATH OF PASTOR AL HENDERSO PENDELTON’S INSANITY DEFENSE DID NOT CONVINCE THE JURY. AS THE TRIAL ENDED THE REPORTERS CAPTURED THIS PHOT IT’S KRIS HENDERSON HUGGING MEL PENDELTON, THE FATHER OF THE CONVICTED MURDERER. >> WE HUGGED AND EMBRACED. WE CRIED, HE CRIED. WE WANTED HIM TO KNOW IT WAS NOT HIS FAULT BECAUSE HE JUST FELT SO BAD. >> AFTERWARD, WE WERE LIKE, YEAH, THIS IS GOD WORKING THROUGH THIS AND AN OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO KNOW THAT JUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED. TODD: BUT HEALING THAT HENDERSON SAYS WILL NEVER BE COMPLETE.
