A New Orleans-area man was sentenced Wednesday to a year and a day in prison by a federal judge for stealing money from his church. Charles J. Williams Jr. admitted that he embezzled almost $90,000 from St. Luke's Episcopal Church on North Dorgenois Street back in 2017. Williams was the senior warden at the church at the time. He admitted to using some of the embezzled money to support his pizza business in the Esplanade Mall.
