Former Oconto County man convicted in crash that killed Abrams teen
OCONTO - A jury convicted a former Oconto County man Thursday on five charges filed over a crash more than two years ago that killed a 14-year-old Abrams girl and seriously injured another teen.
Cade J. Wied, 20, now of De Pere, was found guilty of second-degree homicide, second-degree reckless injury, knowingly operating a motor vehicle while suspended-causing death and knowingly operating a motor vehicle while suspended-causing injury.
The former Sobieski man was also convicted of obstructing an officer for attempting to mislead investigators over who was driving at the time of the Dec. 14, 2018, crash in which September Deneys, a freshman at Pulaski High School, died.
