Seven former civilian investigators in the Milwaukee Police Department are suing the former chief. In a lawsuit filed in federal court, they say Alphonso Morales either fired or forced them to resign unexpectedly in February 2019.According to the lawsuit, the civilian officers were not allowed to respond to Morales' demand to resign or be fired or Go through any due process. The civilian officers worked for MPD as Police Services Special Investigators. They conducted background checks on potential City of Milwaukee employees. All seven were either forced to resign or were terminated on Feb. 22, 2019.The seven are suing for their lost salary, benefits, and other damages the court may determine.
