Former Mayor of Hexham and town councillor Rad Hare attended his last council meeting last Monday (April 19), after he announced his intention to step down after 17 years.
Coun Hare was first elected in 2005 to serve on Hexham Town Council, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, brother, and uncle.
He said being the Mayor of Hexham in 2012, which coincided with the time of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympics, was a great privilege.
He added an important responsibility of Hexham Town Council is Remembrance Day, and said it was his privilege to lay a wreath at the War Memorial.
