The Winnipeg mother is hooked up to an oxygen machine in a COVID ward at Health Sciences Centre, separated from her newborn son. Robinson-Desjarlais can’t take a few steps without struggling to catch her breath; she’s developed COVID-related pneumonia on top of her asthma, and she is worried not enough oxygen is travelling to her organs to keep them from shutting down.
