Former Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell is among Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s appointees for various university governing boards in Michigan.
Heartwell, who retired as mayor in 2015, and Ronald Snead, of Stanwood, were both appointed to the Ferris State University Board of Trustees this week, according to a news release from the governor’s office.
Heartwell and Snead succeed outgoing trustees Robert Hegbloom and Lori Gwizdala, respectively, whose terms expire Dec. 31. The two new appointees will serve on the board beginning Jan. 1, 2021, through Dec. 31, 2028.
