Former Committee Chair Doris: 'The Goal Is To Sell It Out'

When former Fairfield AD Gene Doris was chair of the Men’s Lacrosse Committee, he had a vision of bringing Championship Weekend to Connecticut.
Thanks in large part to the work of Fairfield athletic administrators (who remain largely in tact despite Doris’ retirement in December 2017 and a subsequent change to the men’s lacrosse coaching staff), that vision became a reality last weekend.
When I asked what it’s like to see it come to fruition, Doris said “It would’ve been better if it weren’t a pandemic year, but the groundswell — the youth lacrosse people, they came out full force. So I think that bodes well for next year.”
