PETER? ACCORDING TO THE CRIMINAL COMPLAINT, AT LEAST 10 VICTIMS HAVE COME FORWARD FROM NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY. ACCORDING TO THAT COMPLAINT, AS WELL, THE SUSPECT HERE IS ACCUSED OF HAVING 300 NEW OR SEMI-NEW PHOTOS ON VARIOUS SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS. THE SUSPECT IS 28 WORLD STEVE WAITE. ARRESTED IN CHICAGO, USED TO LIVE IN SOMERVILLE AND COACHED AT NORTHEASTERN FOR A SEMESTER. INVESTIGATORS SAY THAT HE WOULD BORROW THE PHONES OF ATHLETES TO FILM THEM FOR PRACTICE BUT HAD SEEN -- HAD BEEN SEEN SCROLLING THROUGH THEIR PHONES. ACCORDING TO THE COMPLAINT, HE GAINED ACCESS TO NEW PHOTOS ON THE VICTIM’S PHONE OR WAS SENT SEMI-NEW TO PHOTOS UNDER THE PRETENSE OF ATHLETE RESEARCH. HE CONTACTED THE VICTIMS AGAIN USING FAKE SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS SAYING THAT THE PHOTOS HAD BEEN LEAKED AND HE COULD HELP THEM SCRUB THEM FROM THE INTERNET THAT ONLY IF THEY SENT HIM MORE NEW OR SEMI-NEW PHOTOS. HE REPORTEDLY REPEATEDLY USE THE SAME PATTERN OF CONDUCT. DISCLOSURE WITH PHOTOS DISCOVERED ONLINE AND A REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL PHOTOS. HE IS CHARGED WITH CYBER STALKING, FRAUD, EXTORTION. AS SOON AS HE STARTED WORKING HERE, AT NORTHEASTERN, THE COMPLAINT WAS THAT THE UNIVERSITY WAS RECEIVING COMPLAINTS FROM STUDENTS ABOUT SEXUAL HARASSMENT. THEY CONDUCTED A TITLE IX INVESTIGATION AND HIS EMPLOYMENT ENDED JUST A FEW MONTHS AFTER IT STARTED HERE. WE REACHED OUT TO NORTHEASTERN FOR COMMENT BUT THEY HAVE NOT GOTTEN BACK TO US AT THIS POINT.
