For first time in months, many Hartford students return to full-time, in-person learning, while 9,600 continue virtually

Hartford, CT - 3/1/21 - Students are greeted by staff as they enter Maria C. Colon Sanchez Elementary School Monday morning. Students at Hartford Public Schools in pre-K through 9th grade return to five-day-a-week, in-person classes this week.
Waiting in the bus line at Martin Luther King Jr. campus on Monday, Timcia Hall was almost as excited to see her third grader as he was to come back to in-person classes full-time.
When rising coronavirus cases forced Hartford Public Schools to shift to a hybrid model in November, it split up classes and grades — and friendships along with them — to make the cohorts that have been alternating between virtual and in-person learning. When hybrid learning came to an end Monday, students like Hall’s son were thrilled to reunite with friends they haven’t seen in months.
