The plan to use a specialty license plate to build a billion-dollar fund for state park repairs now includes additional tags for veterans, Biscayne Bay and the Margaritaville of song and fame.
The Florida House is expected to vote on the Senate proposal Tuesday. The plan to raise money for the 175-state park system is outlined in two bills (HB 249, SB 676). They galloped through six committee hearings and a Senate floor vote without a single “no” vote.
The bills' sponsors – Rep. Allison Tant, D-Tallahassee, in the House, and Sen. Dennis Baxley, R-Ocala, in the Senate – say the House will set aside Tant’s proposal and send Baxley’s to Gov. Ron DeSantis for his signature.
