That warning ended around 4:50 pm. But the weather service issued another at 5:23 p.m. calling for nickel-sized hail as well as “very strong” wind gusts and heavy rain.
The second thunderstorm warning has also ended, but a watch remained in effect late Friday evening.
Heavy rain has caused localized flooding in many areas around the city, especially on roadways. Calgary police said they received several calls of flash flooding and hazardous conditions on roads, adding they advised against driving.
