CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Both the Red and Cumberland Rivers crested overnight, and water levels are dropping today.
The Red River crested at 38.14 feet – 8 feet over flood stage – at 4:30 p.m. Monday. At 7:30 a.m. today, it was at 35.82 and dropping, according to the National Weather Service.
At 35 feet, water floods Port Royal Road near the Highway 238 bridge. The river is expected to continue falling to 10.4 feet Saturday evening.
Several homes and yards near the Red River had water damage on Monday after weekend rains caused rivers and streams throughout Middle Tennessee to spill over their banks.
