Direct flights between Incheon and London resume on May 7 after substantial progress in the U.K.'s coronavirus vaccination drive.
The government on Monday decided to lift the ban it has imposed on flights from London since Dec. 23 as the U.K. variant emerged.
The first direct fight will be an Asiana Airlines' flight from Heathrow Airport to Incheon on May 9. Asiana is expected to fly from London every other Sunday and Korean Air every other Saturday.
They must reserve 90 percent of seats for Korean nationals and keep their seat occupancy below 60 percent.
The daily number of new infections in the U.K. reached 70,000 in early January but fell to some 1,700 on Sunday. More than half of the British population have been vaccinated.
