Yes, Amanda Vanstone, you are so right (“Tread lightly on way to republic”, Comment, 5/4). Unfortunately, we are still a group of fragmented states and territories with a group of premiers and territory leaders who have scant regard for the national interest. We are certainly not “one and free”. We are “eight and fractured”.
