Dry Waste Collection Centres (DWCCs), that are set up in most wards in the city, play a key role in the decentralisation of the collection system of
solid waste management that began in 2013.
However, between January 25 and February 7, some
miscreants set five DWCCs on fire. This not only deprived 36 waste-pickers of their livelihood, but also wasted tax-payers’ money used for the construction of the DWCCs.
