Five questions for Rev. Arthur Wilson
Vice president for spiritual formation,Huntington University
1
In late October, you were named the university's vice president for spiritual formation. Was that a newly created position? How do you see your role in the campus community?
As the university developed its spiritual formation plan, it became clear that a transition needed to take place in the reach and function of the office where I served. As the Office of Campus Ministries, the focus was primarily on providing spiritual services to support the faith development of students. Now as the Center for Spiritual Formation & Intercultural Enrichment, there are opportunities to expand that focus to include the equipping and resourcing of administration, faculty, staff and students. This shift presented a need for a higher level of leadership. In my expanded role, I have the opportunity to have an influence on the wider campus community both spiritually and culturally.
