Five movies set in North Carolina to watch on New Year's Eve
New Year’s Eve might look different this year, as the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has managed to cancel more plans than a mom on a school night. So, no plans? No problem. Here’s a list of movies that are set in North Carolina and great to watch while bringing in the new year.
The Best of Enemies (2019)
With both Taraji P. Henson and Sam Rockwell leading the cast, Director Robin Bissell was able to bring Osha Gray Davidson's book 'The Best of Enemies: Race and Redemption in the New South,' to life in this drama. This film is not only set in Durham, N.C. but it's inspired by true events, according to IMDB. The story surrounds outspoken civil rights activist Ann Atwater, and the unlikely relationship she forms with C.P. Ellis, a local Ku Klux Klan leader. What started as a face-off over the issue of school integration, turned into something much bigger. The Best of Enemies is now streaming on Hulu, Sling TV and Amazon Prime, with a premium subscription.
