FIRESTONE, Colo. — An explosion at a Firestone home that injured one person on Thursday has been ruled an accident, although the official cause remains undetermined, according to the Frederick-Firestone Protection District (FFPD).
The injured man was taken to a local hospital and then later transferred to the burn center at UCHealth in Aurora.
FFPD responded to the home, located at 9744 Roadrunner Ave., in the Stoneridge Neighborhood around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Around 3:15 p.m., FFPD said the incident was "stabilized".
A pet was also rescued from the home, according to FFPD.
Crews remained at the scene for mitigation and safety efforts throughout Thursday evening, and on Friday said they ruled the fire and explosion an accident. They had earlier ruled out any relation to natural gas.
