Rockingham County fire officials battled a house fire Monday morning in the Keezletown area.
The fire began shortly after 10 o’clock this morning and Battalion Chief Joe Morris reports that when the first responders arrived at the home in the 26-hundred block of Keezletown Road, they found heavy fire showing from the front side of the structure.
Morris said it took crews about 40 minutes to get the fire under control but crews remained on scene for several hours afterwards to make sure they extinguished all the hot spots.
The house suffered significant damage and it has been deemed uninhabitable, so the American Red Cross has been called in to help the displaced occupants. No injuries were reported.
