Fiber artists transform Nome schoolhouse into Nome wool house
After spending three years and $4 million turning a derelict school building into a combination fiber-arts center/fiber farm/fiber mill/boutique hotel/events center, Chris Armbrust and Teresa Perleberg might have the last laugh against any skeptics. The public is invited to view the fruits of their labor during a grand opening event July 1-4 that will feature tours, a five-course dinner and, to cap it all off, a Fourth of July celebration and fireworks show.

NOME, N.D. — A beer salesman is delivering cases of beer and White Claw to the former Nome Schoolhouse, where a major renovation is underway. Contractors' trucks line the front parking lot, a giant blue construction dumpster sits off to the side and many windows are still boarded up.
