Female Indigenous leader takes office in Panama

PANAMA CITY (AP) — The first elected female leader of Panama’s Wounaan Indigenous group took office Monday. The inauguration of Aulina Ismare Opua marks a strengthening of women’s positions in the country’s Indigenous communities.
