The federal Liberals announced $415 million in spending Wednesday to help Sanofi Pasteur build a new influenza vaccine facility, adding to Canada’s already existing capabilities to make flu vaccines for the entire population.
Industry Minister François-Philippe Champagne and health minister Patty Hajdu made the announcement at the facility in Toronto, alongside Premier Doug Ford and Toronto Mayor John Tory.

Sanofi Pasteur’s facility is the former site of Connaught Labs and already makes a wide array of vaccines for childhood diseases. The Connaught Campus was sold for $942 million by the Brian Mulroney government to the company that would become Sanofi Pasteur after several mergers.
