The FBI and local police are investigating an explosion over the weekend at a Los Angeles-area church known for its anti-LGBTQ message. Officers responded early Saturday morning to First Works Baptist Church in El Monte when they noticed smoke coming from inside. El Monte police chief David Reynoso says they still don’t know who set off some kind of explosive device in the church early Saturday morning, causing some damage but no injuries…

Authorities say the windows of the church were blown out from some type of blast. No injuries were reported. Protesters have repeatedly targeted First Works for condemning same-sex relationships. An online petition has been started by a group called Keep El Monte Friendly and calls for the church to be kicked out of the city.
