FBI El Paso Special Agent in Charge Luis M. Quesada will leave El Paso after accomplishing his goals of increasing diversity, transparency and keeping the community safe.
After nearly two years as the head of the El Paso office, Miami-native Quesada, the first Latino leader of the office in more than decade, was promoted to deputy assistant director over the FBI's Critical Incident Response Group in Quantico, Virginia.
His last day as the head of the FBI El Paso Division will be Friday.
"Both professionally and personally, it has been a fantastic time, a time of growth," Quesada said. "I'm not from this area, but it's been a wonderful experience. It's a great community and I think that attributes to why El Paso is El Paso. For a major city to have the third least violent crimes and the fifth overall crime, I think speaks a lot to the people in the community and to the relationships that the law enforcement has with each other, which is something that I've never experienced in any other office in the last 25-plus years that I've been in the FBI."
