In the 45 page document, smith alleges the former president illegally conspired to overturn the results of the 2020 election. In posts on truth social and in a statement from the former president s campaign, trump is questioning the timing of the indictment, one day after devon archer was interviewed by lawmakers about the president s business dealings and while former President Trump is leading in the polls for the gop president ial nomination. Many republicans are quickly coming to trumps defense. I dont know that well ever see the left sated in its efforts to go after donald trump. I think this is an effort to keep him off the ballot. I think its an effort to continue to harass donald trump because of partly because they think hes going to win, partly because they do not like reporter donald trump. Reporter the former President Trumps opponents have mixed reactions. Some like desantis and tim scott, say it highlights a two tiered Justice System. Former Vice President mike pence says todays indictment serves as an important reminder, anyone who puts himself over the cons constitution should never be president of the United States. Weve got a 45 page indictment, four counts, six unnamed coconspirators. This is going to be an important case to look at. Im very curious whats going to happen. Are these six unnamed coconspirators eventually going to get charged . Is the prosecution going to potentially use these coconspirators to flip on President Trump and whoever gets to the table first gets the best deal. Im not certain of that. What i can tell you is that the defense is probably going to file a motion to dismiss the case. If that doesnt happen, theyll also probably try to change the venue. We know this has been charged out of the washington, d. C. Area. That is not a favorable area for President Trump. The jury pool there is not going to be in his favor and the judge is definitely not going to be in his favor either. Maria this is what they were trying to do with a superseding indictment even before this, try to get a case out of florida and into a place Like Washington where they can have a better chance of getting a jury to convict and thats not what we expected in florida. Nicole, what about the idea that devon archer testified under oath and told the committee of the Oversight Committee that he in fact was in meetings several times, more than a dozen times, that joe biden called into those meetings with foreign nationals, this after one day of that testimony we get this indictment. You know, americans look at this and they think were seeing a pattern here, okay. Americans are smart individuals. And i think its now about three occasions where theres mounting evidence thats coming out about hunter biden or about his family and its almost the next day theres another charge against president former President Trump. I think that americans are they have lost trust in the criminal Justice System because of this. Optics do matter. Facts matter. But so do optics. And its just this overwhelming pattern of what appears to be a two tiered Justice System. Why is it that hunter biden, it took about five years for him to be charged with two misdemeanors by information but yet it took two years to indict trump so far on three indictments, two being federal and one local and likely there will be another indictment coming through the pipeline. So isnt that interesting, five years to look into an investigation into hunter biden where now there are whistleblowers coming forward, the 1023, there is mounting evidence coming out. Should we expect to see a raid on his house soon . Should we expect to see something . I have not seen that. And thats why americans do not trust the criminal Justice System right now. I want to switch gears ask you about the House Select Committee on china investigating blackrock and Index Provider msci, looking into whether they were facilitating American Investments into Chinese Companies who were actually accused of bolstering chinas military and violating human rights. There is not a program that has been more focused on this issue than this one. Because ive been focused on this issue now for years. The committee sent the letter to blackrocks ceo, its unconscionable for any u. S. Company to benefit from investments that facilitate human rights abuses. I would like to know whether or not this was a decision that joe biden got paid for, allowing all of these companies, Chinese Companies to trade on u. S. Exchanges and not follow any auditing rules because joe biden signed a memorandum of understanding back in 2014 with chinese partners allowing these companies to trade on the u. S. Exchanges. Why are these comp in companiesn indexes if theyre on sanctions lists . They shouldnt be. Thats why we need to bring msci and blackrock in. Im glad our chair, Mike Gallagher, is pursuing this. Look, we had a Hedge Fund Manager come before us a couple weeks ago and he very ethical guy. He wouldnt be investing, hes not investing in any Chinese Companies. I asked are you the exception or the rule. He said he would hope he was the rule but my inclination is hes probably the exception. Blackrock and msci are chasing the dollar and to our detriment. These companies are helping the pla, theyre helping the ccp. Theyre involved in human rights abuses, you know, in china. And so yeah, we need to bring them in and have them explain themselves. Look, we just looked at a sliver of the indexes and in just that sliver we found half a billion dollars in investment, american money, helping Chinese Companies, Chinese Companies that are helping the pla or the ccp undermine american interest. Its incredible and its you know, its something that we shouldnt tolerate and we cant tolerate. We cannot continue to fund Chinese Companies that undermine american interest. Maria are you going to ask larry fink if hes managing money for xi jinping and the Chinese Communist party . Well, ill bring him in and well see what we ask him. Im the last guy on that committee. Im the least senior person so im sure my colleagues are going to put him through the wringer but, look, we need to put the spotlight on whats happening. Any investment in china is investing with the Chinese Communist party and the pla because by rule, by law, they have to share their technology. Anything that the pla deems to be in their interest they can get it from the company. So everything we invest in china is going to be working against the interest of the United States. That said, i will say from an electoral perspective, desantis needs to avoid unforced errors like this and i understand his explanation but i think hes at his best when he goes on the offensive even with attacking the woke. In this situation he was on the defensive and i dont think that serves him well, when he needs to earn so many more points to catch up to donald trump. He needs to be perfect from here on out. Look, if youve been on this planet for 10 minutes you know the prices are constantly jumping up, coming down, jumping up again. This has to be part of the monthly budget. If the gas prices, Energy Prices are causing you to bust and break the bank thats the symptom of a larger problem. We have to get on a budget and prioritize utilities as part of the four walls. Four walls are simply your rent or mortgage, your utility bills, your food and of course your transportation. Maria kelly, you did it, right . During the pandemic, you had to pull back. I definitely did. So jane, i live out in los angeles. My electricity bill was 700 one month. I do blame my husband. He kept the air conditioning, the lights on. But what would you say to someone like me that is looking for a lower electricity bill this summer . What should i be doing to save money here . Absolutely. You can invest in things like smart thermostats, those will help lower your bill and at the end of the day you are going to have to embrace if you want a lower energy bill, youre probably going to have to set the thermostat 7 to 10 Degrees Higher than what you typically would. So in the summertime you have to embrace being a little warmer and in the wintertime you have to embrace being a little bit colder throughout the house. So theres so many things like that you can do. If you dont want to upgrade to a smart thermostat, walk over there and set the dial for a lower or higher temperature. Maria this is the underlying issue for inflation. Its all about energy. A gallon of regular gas today is 3. 80 a gallon, up 12cents from a week ago, nearly 30cents from last month. You really dont understand the lift when you look at it just in a couple of cents but in terms of the prices, oil prices typically come down when an economy is weakening and ive been waiting for that, adam. Oil is representing a demand situation. Well, there are two things going on with oil. One, yes, is demand. The economy is not going into recession. You look at the fact that amazon prime day, record. You look at travel on the july 4th weekend. Record. So people are spending money. No recession. Maria all of that requires energy, gas go correct. Then theres the other side of oil which is supply and we know with the Biden Administration what theyve done there because the first day that Joe Biden Took Office he actually put a moratorium on drilling on federal land and they say oh, well its yeah, what about all the other land. The problem is they dont approve new projects that arent contiguous. You say you can drill over there but not here. Theres no pipeline to get you there. In other words, they have cut back on our ability to produce. We have more oil than almost any country in the world. And we should be Energy Independent and instead we tied our hands and thats why oil prices are up. Maria its bad policy at a time that demand is also weakening. What about the gas station, jane, can consumers save or do anything differently at the gas station . Absolutely. Americans are feeling this so what can we do . We can try to bundle all of those tasks that we need to do daily, all of those errands that we go taking the kids, try to bundle those all at once and of course youre always going to save money by taking the freeway instead of the stop and go traffic and of course you can look into things like gas budd buddy, w gas buddy, waze. I have a costco membership. I can get the cheapest gas prices because of my membership there. Maria jump in here, todd. One way to keep costs down is have me come over to your house, i will turn off your lights, turn everything down, im an expert at it in my own home.
