Right, i think that erases some confidence in the decision to certify it when initially they said, no, we are not going to do it, we think there are issues here and then theres an outpouring of Public Comments, negative, harassing, intimidating comments that causes them to change their minds, so that, you know, that tells you something. That said, its still, even if that is a little bit fishy and even if theres some other irregularities this certainly need looking into, it looks very, very to my mind difficult to say michigan could possibly go the other way, could go into the trump column, the margin is so high and thats the broader problem the president s team is running into and even if you can chip away at joe bidens lead in some states, you need to do this, you know, thousands more times to get tens of thousands more votes in multiple states which is just obviously not going to happen. Hes arguing during a hearing yesterday that hundreds of thousands of ballots should not be considered and the States Election results should not be certified. He talked to us about this yesterday and how far the campaign plans to take the efforts, take a listen. Somewhere around 700,000 ballots were counted in secret, the republican the republican watchers which is what theyre called in pennsylvania, were literally kept in corals and then locked out, some of them roughed up a little bit, this would be our first established vehicle on our way to the Supreme Court and i should say second. The one in michigan, even though the certification went ahead, that case is also another vehicle to go to the Supreme Court. So now we have two. Shortly we will have wisconsin and soon georgia and then we will have 3 more, the ones i just mentioned to you are drafted and ready to go. Maria so robbie, what youre saying, yes, we have all of these irregularities but its not going to be enough trump votes that come out that actually overturns the election, is that what you just said . Yeah, i mean, thats just with looking at it, the margin is just, you know, its tens of thousands of votes in several states and when we see what happens in georgia where we do find 2700 more votes, and i get it thats tremendously frustrating that mistakes of that magnitude are made but then you the situation, okay, trump picks up 500 votes, is this are there 25 more times this is going to happen which is what it would need to do to overturn georgia and then you need another state to flip, it just seems not likely. With the pennsylvania issue. I see the point, that it seems bad for the integrity of the election, for the democracy that republican watchers were kept at such a distance, but but thats an argument of doing it that way and i certainly understand it. I think you will have a hard time demonstrating to a court that because that was done the, you are going to say all the people who voted, your vote is thrown out or not counted because of that. Given all of the new ballots that were found in georgia, do you worry that there will also be irregularities in upcoming january 5th senate races in georgia . Certainly, and thats why why looking into this process right now and figuring things out is so important. The election is not over there. So absolutely this should continue to be looked at, thats a significant issue and the mistakes that have been made so far are embarrassing and need to be corrected while probably not changing the outcome of the president ial race. So, yeah, you can say let the process play out but anybody who lets the process play out seems to be taken out in the public square. Well, i fault the media for that and social media. Social media has had finger, thumb on the scale throughout and by not shutting this stuff out, what are they doing . They are incentivizing violence, they are incentivizing at least verbal violence online. Yeah, i think theres somebody at fault and its not its not the people who are trying to get the job done. Its the people who are stirring the pot, why . Because they are doing it for own selfinterest, they are making money on it. How many journalists and pundits have said, o they know for sure. I cant comment on future results but what i can say this environment is poised well for pizza business and those who have drivethrus, those that have delivery and we have contactless curbside, contactless curbside on pizza, these are the guy that is will win. We are bullish about the future. When dining comes back in with a vaccine, we can see more growth on top of what we are seeing right now. What impact does this have on the markets Going Forward . How significant will this market have legs in terms of continuing to rally . Well, maria, i think that exciting thing has been the hope that these vaccine results have brought to investors, to consumers, and to the world alike. Unyouve seen that that combined with phenomenal earnings from some companies has really pushed the market forward and a really what the market likes is some kind of certainity, especially now. Thats what the market has been responding to. I think were going to see that in a continued manner, even though the pandemic continues to rage. Were seeing earnings, particularly digital earnings from consumers, really push the needle forward. And you know, dont forget the fed is going to keep rates low so were going to continue to see risk on and appetite for the market and i think well see that through the Holiday Season, particularly because consumers are now very educated in terms of Digital Sales and what they want the to do and were going to see that bump up dramatically. Maria let me look at chinese stocks, sean, because the securities and Exchange Commission is seeking to have Chinese Companies listed in the United States, use auditors overseen by american regulators or risk being kicked off those exchanges. We know that the Trump Administration is going to try to have one final aggressive pushback on bad behavior by china and a lot of these Chinese Companies are in m indexes in many indexes, theyre in etfs. What impact do you think this will have. Its an interesting case. I think theres 1. 2 trillion of chinese securities listed in the United States. Its a very sort of politically charged issue. I think everybody should want trans parent civil i think the investor transparency. I think investors deserve transparency on our side. Chinese investors should want that as a way to attract capital. We went through an election. That seems to be up in the air a little bit. Jay clayton is retiring at the end of the year. The most interesting comment i saw so far about this is their vice chairman of their securities Regulatory Agency said they should be able to work this out, no problem, under a Biden Administration. The impact will be whether or not we continue to move forward and again the transparency that u. S. Investors want so we can feel safe. China is a huge economy. Its the second largest economy in the world. There are great, Innovative Companies there. But without that transparency, i think theres a little bit of a cloud over this. Maria well, the pentagon has identified 30 companies that are tied to the chinese military. China of course wants to become the leading super power and, you know, theyre going to be more you aggressive in terms of these Companies Trading on the new york and the nasdaq. So well see what kind of impact this has and whether or not it sways investors into not buying things like the msci index and some of the etfs that hold the Chinese Companies. That was really my point. Im not sure we know the answer to that yet. Let me ask about big tech. The ceos of facebook and twitter testified yesterday, zuckerberg and dorsey touted their progress in battling disinformation. Of course, the senators warned about tougher regulations coming. Theyll lose section 230 of potentially. Whats the answer here . Increasing regulation . Do you think thats coming for these companies . Well, two things kind of came away from me. I thought zuckerberg had grown up a lot, dorsey i thought was business as usual and our leaders as usual i think do not understand what theyre trying to regulate. I say take 230 away, make them all publishers, let capitalism sort this out. I think advertisers will figure out really quick who makes who go home. Maria well, are we going to see a change in a potential Biden Administration or do you think theyll lighten up on china . On china or on the internet . I think maria on both. On both. We are talking about combating Election Fraud, 2700 more ballots were discovered in Fayette County, georgia yesterday, netting an additional 500 votes for President Trump after 2600 ballots were found in floyd county on monday. Adding an additional 800 votes for the president. This coming as Michigans Wayne county board of canvassers certified the countys votes overnight, a reversal from a decision earlier in the day, after being intimidated, and yesterday in pennsylvania Rudy Giuliani argued in court that hundreds of thousands of ballots should not be considered and the States Election results should not be certified. I spoke with him yesterday about how far the campaign plans to take these efforts. Somewhere around 700,000 ballots were counted in secret, the republican watchers, which is what theyre called in pennsylvania, were literally kept in corrals. They were locked out. Some of them were actually roughed up a little bit. This will be our first established vehicle on the way to the Supreme Court or i should say exactly second. The one in michigan, even though the certification went ahead, that case is also another vehicle to go to the Supreme Court. So now we have two. Shortly well have wisconsin and soon georgia. And then well have three more right after that. The ones i just mentioned to you are already drafted and ready to go. Whats your reaction to all of this, all of these ballots found in different counties, mick, the president pushing forward. This may very well go to the Supreme Court. How do you see things . Good morning, maria. Thanks as always for having me. I think what youre seeing is just a reaffirmation of why we need to go through this. Every politician knows that these sorts of things happen, they happen on a small scale in nearly every single election, elections are sloppy things. Its rare that they can make an impact in the outcome because elections arent typically as close as they are right now but the stories about ballots not being counted, about folks being eexcluded from the count, those things happen all the time which is why its so important to continue to li litigate this. One of the questions i ask my Democrat Friends, dont you want to know . Why wouldnt would you want why would you want a potential biden presidency to be clouded by this. Were nowhere near how long the bush gore debate played out in 2000. Theres time to do it. I think its the right thing to do. Im a little concerned about the use of Rudy Giuliani. This strikes me that this is the most important lawsuit in the history of the country. And theyre not using the most wellnoted election lawyers. There are folks who do this all of the time. This is a specialty. This is not a television program. This is the real thing. And i was struck by a couple things that rudy said in court yesterday. So on one hand i think it needs to go forward. It absolutely does. I wish it was being prosecuted a little more efficiently. Maria there was a story last night on tucker that there are you law firms bullying other law firms saying dont work with the Trump Campaign. So theres that. And then one source told me there is an fbi investigation into this behavior right now. I dont know. I cant confirm that. But it does raise the question, where is the department of justice and where is the fbi, if in fact theres such rampant fraud. Yeah, and i dont know anything about the fbi investigation. I doubt anybody would, would talk about that publicly. I heard the same story about law firms either with drawing or being intimidated. Thats wrong. I go to my Democrat Friends and say why would you condone that. Lets have a full and fair litigation of this issue. Why are we resorting to trying to discourage people from representing the president. Thats as worrisome as outcomes of elections tainted by malfeasance. Maria theres also a cancel culture which is firmly in place. Aoc and her ge gestapo list of e trump accountability project, this is serious stuff of intimidation. They intimidated people in michigan so they would certify their county elections, by docking them online. Its a sad state of affairs. I want to get to your thoughts on a potential Biden Cabinet, Roger Ferguson announced he would step down from his current role. I reported a week ago, reading a cowen and company note, that he is a major contender for a role in the cabinet. Cowen and company told me and they told their clients, which is what i reported a week ago, that he is being looked at as treasury secretary. Your reaction . My guess is theyre going to end up with a mix of progressives and centrists in their cabinet. The question is which ones are going to fall where. My guess is they end up with a centrist in treasury and more liberal folks in the department of labor, eps and cfpb. Maria its all about the senate, though, right, in terms of getting confirmed. Because another idea that weve talked about is secretary of state potentially susan rice. Would susan rice get through a senate process as secretary of state . And of course this goes back to whats going on in georgia and the Senate Runoff races but if were seeing fraud and all these additional ballots that were thrown in the garbage in the general election in georgia, who is to say were not going to see cheating in the senate races. Its going to be very interesting to see how the confirmation of a potential Biden Cabinet plays out. Keep in mind that here we are in november of 2020 and there are still nominees by President Trump who are waiting for confirmation in the senate because of the obstructionism by the democrats. So lets hope that things get a little smoother. Lets hope the democrats nominate folks, if biden is inaugurated, as reasonable members of the cabinet. Youre in a very fluid situation. I think a lot of things are waiting on the georgia races. The scrutiny on the georgia races is going to extraordinarily high. Ghosn explaining to me the torture that he enduringed when i spoke with him after his own incarceration in japan. Obviously, im not going to make a very full discussion but you have the life all the time in the cell, you can shower twice a week, you have only 30 minutes exposure to the light and only during the working days because during the weekend theres not enough staff to allow you to get out and see the light. But the most important thing is interrogation can take place at any moment, it goes up to eight hours a day. And without the presence of your lawyer. Maria the judicial system in japan has a 99. 4 conviction rate. So they torture you the way that carlos ghosn was just telling us to get you to agree and admit that in fact you are guilty. Michael taylor, who helped ghosn escape, is now facing a similar fate. He joined me on the telephone exclusively from Norfolk County Correctional Center in dedham, massachusetts. The department of justice and state department have both agreed and were standing by, waiting to be extradited. Maria now, i understand your situation, the u. S. Has this extradition treaty with japan and that means if japan officials want you back in japan, the u. S. Is supposed to send you there. But you are a u. S. Citizen, you are a former military man. You are a green beret and you have experience in helping people get abducted people. So heres a picture of you with your squad. Ive got a pile of letters here from mothers who they say you rescued their children when they were abducted. Tell me about this skill that you have. Well, its just being able to get into certain areas to help u. S. Citizens that the government couldnt help. Id often get called by the fbi or the state department and saying hey, essentially we cant do anything to help this American Family and the childs been abducted and taken overseas. Because the areas difficult, we dont have access to it, can you help. Of course im going to help a fellow citizen and we get it done. Thats the bottom line. We save those lives and bring them back home where they belong. Yeteyet here we stand getting ry to be extradited to a country thats known for torture. Maria tell me what happened. Carlos ghosn reached out to you to help him get out of jail while he was being tortured by japanese officials. He did not reach out to he me. Other people did. They told me he is being tortured. I had never thought that in a million years because i thought that japan was a country similar to ours. But in fact, they do torture people. Even as recently as july 28th, 2020, their minister of justice held a conference saying theyve got to stop torturing people, so on and so forth so the rest of the world doesnt look at them this way. But yeah, his family reached out to me, an intermediary, explaining hes being tortured. After i did some research and checked with the legal counsel, found out that jump on bail is not a crime, he is decided on hes being tortured so lets stop the torture. Maria was it your idea to help him to escape by putting him in a music box, to get him out of japan and fly him to beirut. We were add advised not toe information on other people who had the idea, best not to comment on that part. Suffice to sarks hes not being suffice to say hes not being tortured anymore and hes safe in his own country. Maria in may of this year, marshalls came to your house, put you in jail. Walk us through when you were first arrested. It was probably around 4 30 in the morning, knocks on the door, it was u. S. Marshals. Not sure how many, maybe 15 or 20. They did have an arrest an armd personnel carrier with them, m4 assault rifles, body armor. Thats what they were supposed to do. They were very professional. They loaded us into vehicles and took us into the Norfolk County jail, based off the request by the japanese prosecutors that were supposed to be detained and then according to the treaty, again your Constitutional Rights are aside. You dont have all those of Constitutional Rights that we normally have as american citizens when it comes to a treaty because you have to have very high special circumstances to get bail. So were not able to have bail. So weve been in jail for six months now. Maria you are also imprisoned with your son who is 26 years old of. What does your son have to do with all of this . Was he involved in the escape of carlos ghosn . He is not involved whatsoever. Thats another travesty of this thing. He had nothing to do with it whatsoever. However, youre not able to produce any evidence because they only need to show probable cause which is a very low standard to have people arrested and then subsequently extradited to japan and theres a reason why theres only two countries that have extradition treaties with japan, which is south korea and the United States. No other country on earth has an extradition treaty with them for good reason and its difficult to say how can we be the beacon of human rights when were taking our citizens and during a worldwide pandemic and, you know, theres really no conviction or of lacking evidence and were told that jump on bail is not a crime there and youre going to put us on a plane and ship us over there, especially disabled American Veterans do yo during a worldwide pandemic. Maria i knew from the getgo what had taken place here. The s japanese government did not want carlos ghosn merge nissan which is a japanese jewel with renault and they were going to merge those two companies and carlos ghosn was treated incredibly unfairly, he told me some of the things that he faced. There is a 99. 5 conviction rate in japan so basically what they want to do is just torture you until they get a conviction so they can put you in jail. You would be facing that, should you go back to japan. Thats absolutely right, maria. Thats exactly what theyre going to do to us. Theres no surprise whatsoever. Thats why its incredibly shocking that our state department would without explanation stick two american citizens on a plane to get tortured. Maria you were a green beret. You had top secret clearance. You participated in several missions ayou cross the world. Have you reached out to any military officials to ensure that the u. S. Government understands what youre up against, a former military man of the United States government now being potentially shipped back to japan and facing extradition and then facing potential torture by the japanese government. Because clearly theyre embarrassed that carlos ghosn left. Thats absolutely correct. The military veterans organizations are aware of this, connectingvets. At the end of the day its the state department who makes the final decision, not the courts. And i guess only the president can turn this around. And what i understand that in japan that if theres a relationship to the person who jumped bail you cant be charged anyway. So the thing just keeps getting more bizarre. Unfortunately, once youre over in japan, in their judicial system youre subjected to the torture and whatever condition they so desire. Maria how are you being treated right now, michael . The management and the staff here are phenomenal. Theyre very professional. They have a great atmosphere. They treat everybody with the utmost respect. So i really cant say enough about that. But the bottom line is, its still the county jail. Maria i just want to be clear. You want the state department and President Trump to understand what you are up against. You are being extradited to japan for helping carlos ghosn get out of prison and you are asking please not to send you to japan. Thats correct. But he was not in prison. He was free on bail. It all started back in november of 2018 when former nissan Ceo Carlos Ghosn was arrested and then jailed on allegations of underreporting his income. He sat in a prison in japan where he told me he was being tortured. Then on december 31st of last year, the extraordinary escape assisted by Michael Taylor who helped ghosn escape to beirut. We heard myy interview with taylor. Joining me with reaction in a fox business exclusive is the former ceo of nissan renault, carlos ghosn. Carlos, thanks very much for calling in this morning. First off, how are you doing . Im doing fine, maria. Thank you. Maria what is your reaction to Michael Taylor now being potentially extradited to japan and can you talk to us about what he faces . You were there, carlos. You talked to us about the kind of torture that they put you through so you would concede and you would say you actually did what they were charging. Yeah, maria. First, im shocked. Im shocked by the fact that he could be extradited because when i see the difference, i lived in the United States, i lived in japan and when i see the differences between the two systems and when i learned there was an extradition treaty between the countries i was shocked. Let me tell you what he will be looking for if he is extradited. He will be interrogated by a prosecutor without the presence of a lawyer. You have no right to have your lawyer present with you which is obviously a big difference with whats going on in the u. S. Second, at the end of every intier gas station they have interrogation, theyre asked to sign a document which is written in japan. You have to trust that what is written is exactly whats translated to him. All the interrogation will be filmed. The tapes are under the control of the persecutor. If you ask to review the tape, just to verify certain points, they will not release them to you. It happened with pea. He will be interrogated up to eight hours a day. Obviously, the objective is to get the confession. They want you to confess on something that they want you to confess. That means frankly looking for the truth is absolutely not a concern. Whats important for them is to get an additional victory in their 99. 4 conviction rate which as you know is second to none in the world. There will not be a speedy trial. This is one of the first rights of any citizen in the world, with respect to human rights, is you have the right to a speedy trial. Ill give you the example of greg tibbe, he was one of my colleagues in nissan. He was arrested with me on november 18th, 2018 and he still has he cities in japan. Hes still there. His trial started a few weeks ago. The trials can last one year. And he has one charge, hes facing one charge, which is hes considered an accomplice of compensation that was neither decided or it is incredible. Greg is there. Ive seen him in the pretrial sessions. We were not allowed to talk to each other of. During the pretrial sessions, all the sessions were in japanese. They lasted an average 30 minutes, 30 to 40 minutes. The judge ordered a translation which lasted one minute for a 30 to 40 of minute conversation between the defense, prosecutor and the judge. After the translator did his work and we were not able to understand what they were talking about, we asked to change. Everybody else was japanese. The judge refused the change of translator. We had to go through many pretile sessions pretrial sessions, listening to conversations in japanese that neither one understood and we had no rights for a translator. We had just a kind of, you know, somebody trying to do the job but we could not understand what he was saying. So thats what hes expecting. On the condition of the theyre going to go to one of the largest prisons in japan, barely heated. There is a good reason for that, because save the money of the state, the budget. He will have if he has any medication, he can only use japanese medication, foreign medications are forbiden. Two showers a week. Solitary confinement. There is only one translator for about a pop of laying populatio0 people. So thats what is expecting. And than there is violation of n rights all over the system. This is something that is not japan is much better than that. Thats why i think there is a fight to try to change their hostage system which is frankly a surprise when you visit japan and when you leave japan. Maria well, especially since the Business Community sees japan as a business hub, carlos. But thats not the way you saw it from your eyes, once the prosecutors got ahold of you. You believe you were set up, right, carlos . They didnt want you to merge renault with nissan because nissan was japans jewel. They didnt want to be owned by the french. Yeah. Without any doubt, maria, there are a lot of facts showing its a kind of machination between some executives in nissan with the prosecutor and i must say the support of some members of the government.
