Neil when you look at the race as it stands, obviously we dont know the result, i am wondering what the message will be if joe biden does when and whether he would still continue to put raising taxes on corporations, if the economy is bad as he says it is in Many Democrats have charged it is, would that be a bad environment to at least right away start raising taxes on anyone . I think initially i will agree with rebecca, it is stimulus, there are 70 things going on right now, i do worry about tax hikes, the Green New Deal, expansion and government run healthcare, i think the market will react negatively to those things over time, i guess the biggest worry i have is the fact that we might shut down the economy again and if we were to do that, i do not think the market would like that, i would like to remind everybody that if you go back to 1949, i know thats a long time ago, truman second term, if you would about ths p 500 and held it about 100 worth of the s p 500 and held it you would have 2. 2 million today, if he only held the market when democrats were in office he would have about 296,000, if he only held that when republicans have the market you would have about 75000, what im saying, whos in office and what policies are followed really matter but over time, apple is going to sell the same number of phones next year no matter who wins, it is a future that really matters, right now investors should stay in the market, the economy is growing, profits are rising and its a good place to be. Whats happened, obviously because of the pandemic, some states have changed their voting rules maybe without their legislatures and put or approval of that, were going to have some challenges, we seen some of these already in the closer the vote, each individual vote in each ballot will matter, i hope we dont get to a scenario where there isnt a clear winner ultimately in some of the major states and i hope what we learn the lesson of 2020 where individual voters clearly marked their prevalence and follow all the rules including signing their absentee votes, so many of the votes have been male in balance, there is going to be some real challenges and i mean that with a small c but there will be some legal challenges that weve already seen play out and more as to what ballots get counted consistent with the law of each state. [inaudible question] i think you know possibly tonight depending on the extent of victory, i think you could know tonight, i think the really numb pennsylvania was in unfortunate by the Supreme Court because i think we should know what happens on the night, but people put their balance in earlier but you have to have numbers, you can have these things delayed for many days and many weeks, you cannot do that, the whole world is waiting in a lot of shenanigans and bad things happen with violence when you say lets devote days and days and all of a sudden the ballot count changes and you take a look at philadelphia the history of philadelphia politics, no i dont put people in their honor code, i think its a dangerous thing theyve done with that decision and maybe their wisdom will change that decision or maybe well go back and give them a right to change it but thats a very dangerous decision for this country what they did with pennsylvania and some others also, you have to have a date and the date happens to be november 3 and we should be entitled to know who won on november 3 under somebody comes along and puts a valid and way late, they shouldnt they should put the ballot in earlier theres no reason they can put it in two weeks earlier one week earlier with a very dangerous decision, in many ways. When you think the American People regardless of outcome. I may we have a big night planned we will have a very big night, we will have a tremendous im looking at different locations and were seeing lines of people in there wearing a lot of red material, were seen in certain areas that would be trump areas were seeing lines of people that are extended for miles, your seen it too, you dont have to say, your seen it to what i think we can have a great night what is politics and elections and you never know i can say, texas, arizona, a few are looking very strong, florida looking very strong, they spent hundreds of millions of dollars in florida but the people of florida i love them and they love me, we have a bond. In florida especially in terms of seniors i dont think well have any slippage, my relationship to seniors i happen to be a senior i dont want to say that too loud in this building, people that are averaging 20 years old i dont think we can have anything, i think we will do very well i have seen we have seen africanamericans way up in hispanic americans way up and people have seen them and i said that with regard to African Americans about community ive done more with any other president with the exception of Abraham Lincoln and sometimes say with the possible exception but lets give him a lot of credit. But ive done more than any other president in the history of this country were africanamerican, the black community and they understand the criminal justice reform, prison reform, historically black colleges and universities, you look what ive done, opportunity zones, with tim scott is great, nobody has done what ive done in terms of the africanamerican community, they see it in their tired of being used by the democrats for 100 years and its been 100 years, i think were doing very well and i think doing very well with the Hispanic Community. [inaudible question] you will see that in the filings but we had plenty of money, what i didnt do is call up wall street and say send me 25 million to the head of every firm, i couldve done that i wouldve been all alltime king of fundraising, once you do that you can no longer deal properly with them. M. , later in the night we will get results from texas, lets say he wins texas and he needs arizona, lets say he gets it, that puts the states back and play, last time you got iwork, michigan, wisconsin, look where we are with her electoral votes, joe biden would need ten to get to 270 and trump still has a lot to go, it shows you how important ohio is in pennsylvania, they have been campaigning in pennsylvania, joe biden until the last day, if President Trump gets joes biden entered joe bis home state that is one way, everyone is focused on florida and pennsylvania to get the extra days to count the votes could be one reason we dont have a decision tonight. Neil we will see how that goes, could be a early evening or i have a feeling of very, very late evening. In the meantime if its a joe biden victory, is it going to be a big victory for progressives, Kamala Harris took up the issue, that is depending on how you defined progressive. Theres a big difference between equality and equity, quality suggest everyone to get the same amount, the problem with that, not everybody is starting from the same place, for all getting the same amount that i started back then and i started out over here, we can get the same amount but youll be that far back behind me. It is about giving people the resources and the support that they need, equitable treatment, if we all end up at the same place. Neil im always a little unnerved when i see society revealed as cartoon figures but put that aside, im wondering what you make of the arguments advanced is that some, not all, i always find these arguments, they anticipate abiding victory tonight and he carries the senate with him and we will go stimulus or lady gaga, its going to be so overthetop, it cannot help but boost the economy. What do you think. I reject the argument, that argument has been made for several months and i just dont think what is going to juice this economy is another stimulus bill, even if you believe that, why is the market up 1000 points over the last couple of days when trump is surging, i would make the argument if trump wins, he is going to strike a deal with pelosi in the next week on the stimulus plans, those people on wall street that want a stimulus plan is more likely to happen more quickly in my opinion under Trump Victory then abiding, i am not one who is four stimulus plan but i think the reason the market is surging is because trump is surging in the polls, im not saying hes going to win but the likelihood of his winning has gone up a lot in the last four days. Neil you could be right but the consensus we havent seen Much Movement but there are some that show battleground states, it is in the margin of error anywhere from 3 5 points and one of the arguments on that, the trump votes tell me when its in the margin of error that is a vote for donald trump because there are all these quiet trump voters out there, do you agree with a questioning. I do, i think there is a shy voter the Trump Supporters in the closet but i am betting big on the minority vote making a big difference, we talked about it before the hispanic vote, the black vote that is looking for, the opportunity, how do we enable policies that allow me too get a better job, not have a school that is determined by my zip code, have choice, i think people are seen through that, our numbers are showing upwards of 40 support among the Hispanic Community which will get back to the recordbreaking number that george w. Bush got which republicans have not seen sense. Neil i know your views on what do you think is been reflected in the market with the Trump Victory, are you surprised that if it does not go that way and does a the president s way that the Strong Economy or stronger economy, half the job loss has been one back post the pandemic, i think its fairly undeniable when you look at the comeback in retail sales and housing in the number of americans that have jobs, all that looks good but the president ends up losing in that scenario because its about the pandemic and its about the concern that cases are spiking and he did not appreciate the magnitude of that, im just giving you the democratic talking point, what do you thi think. If trump loses it will be all the pandemic, no question about it, not only, i agree with tru trump, we are virtually the best economy in American History at the end of 2019, lowest poverty rate ever, highest income gains ever, lowest Unemployment Rate in 50 years for blacks, hispanics, asians, it was a blockbuster economy and now youre seeing a nice surge in the economy again, much faster, i mentioned this the other day on your show on saturday it is something nobody expected, if trump loses it will be primarily because people are worried about the coronavirus and the question is what would democrats do differently, with a shut down the economy, with a lock it down again, that is something voters should be thinking about. Neil do you worry even when leaders of the president s political stride, that is Boris Johnson in britain, he is shutting down the entire british economy for months, hes not a fan of doing somebody has no other choice giving spikes in cases there that change things a little bit, what do you think questioning. It does and its a balance of what policies or stimulus do i have in parallel with having to shut down the economy, they are the incentive to rehire, we saw here with the ppp, do we need another wave which is not hiding and letting business couple, how do we use the system with taxation, mall that will delay the filings or other types of stimulus that incentivize jobs instead of putting a stimulus bill that will assume lets give more money to people that will increase spending, we need to enable jobs and opportunity back to a point of equal opportunity is about a system that enables our growth for all and not necessarily writing more checks to all. I think first of all we should not be surprised that with the recordbreaking voter turnout especially mailin votes that we would not have a glitch or two and some of the most important states, with that said we should not just accept that, at least i have confidence in the local officials being able to sort this out, theyve done it for years and years and we need to stay focused on it, we cannot accept half good things, they have to be focused on indiscipline and done right but at the same time we need to make sure every vote counts, we need to do everything that we can to ensure that we are collecting all the ballots, the legal ballots, they are done right and i have confidence and local state official in every state, we got a super democrat or republican that the balloting will be done right and collect the and honestly and we can secure the ballots. Neil one of the things i first noted you been arriving in manhattan, all the shops that are boarded up just in case, a protest or worse, we certainly did not see that 20 years ago, the last time we had an election that went beyond election night, are you worried as they appear to be. I can understand the importance of taking precaution, i think its wise for lawenforcement others to take precautions, my hope is frankly none of those wooden barriers are going to be needed because ultimately we will be able to have a vote and account that will tell us who the next president of the United States is, you have 100, projecting 150 Million People who were going to vote, that is outstanding, i have to tell you whether youre republican or democrat to have that Many Americans engaged in the right to vote is really a sign that our democracy understands the importance of power for the people in terms of the ability to vote, i remain and chuck and i both remain very helpful that we will have patience, we will have account, inaccurate number and will know who the next president of the United States is, if not today or tomorrow within the next few days. I think both candidates have to make clear that we all have to be patient and allow these votes to be counted, you know i think were going to have an indication as to what path are going to follow for one candidate or the other, early on we have some decisive states that will come in very early and tell us a lot and they are counted for more evidence and a clear direction, i think early on there will be a direction provided as to a path for one candidate or the other and then its a question of counting all the votes, basically supporting the ultimate conclusion, that as i said is going to take time there is a lot of mailin ballots and a lot of votes, we have to let that process to be completed i think in california and takes a week or two week before you have a final count and most elections if not longer and i think thats gonna be true for the rest of the country, weve got to be patient and allow that account to go one in particular the president and the Vice President both have to be very clear that we are going to wait for the final ballots to be counted in order to determine who the winner is.
