You literally have hundreds of people coming along. These folks have not been polled. I have folks i see every day, i never been polled. So weve seen them before but the problem is, if someone starts to looking into the activities on the assumption that there could be criminal activity, they look quite devious. They look like a purposeful attempt to hide crimes. So that is the issue. I actually think Donald Trumps is. You could say she worked in the Trump Administration, was on the Trump Campaign in 2016. Was on the Transition Team but im looking at this objectively in terms of out comes. In the past few months despite covid19 and all the issues around race in america weve been dealing with, we also set the bar very high in this administration with peace deals in the middle east. That no one thought, in the postworld war ii world could ever happen. And there are more enroute. This all came out of the white house in the shop of Senior Advisor Jared Kushner and his small team, an intellectual architecture that defyies the middle east experts you have to have a land for peace deal, you have to resolve the palestinian issue first. He turned logic on its head. Let as work individually with countries to get an agreement. It will in fact make it easier for us to ultimately get a big deal with the palestinians. That is happening at a level and a pace no one thought possible. But that is just part of the story. On the issue of china, since the opening to china in the nixonkissinger era the position had been that we will help china along to become a developed nation but it was very difficult for elites in the 21st century to face the fact that china was a global menace. Donald trump, somehow has led to a National Consensus around the realities of china, both geopolitical and domestic. Thats an achievement right there and then the matter of burdensharing is so fundamental to the future of the United States as predominant power on earth. It is donald trump that has insisted that the nato countries, the nearly 30 countries that they pay more of their fair share to mutual defense. When he campaigned in 2016 four or five countries were meeting that challenge. It is doubled since then. Hundreds of millions of dollars more into nato, into the nato covers. So when you look at just these issues that ive mentioned, it makes one a bit nervous about a Biden Administration because there was a commitment on that side to unravel everything that this president has achieved. Elizabeth you know biden on 60 minutes named russia as washingtons most serious global threat. He called china the biggest competitor. Were looking at statements from joe biden about china going back to 1997. China admitting them to the wto would not be an issue. Were looking at a quote from biden, 2011 we have to go beyond just having china working with us on trade deals but allow china into our boardrooms, into our universities, into our athletic fields. So you see joe biden saying that china is just a competitor, not going to eat our lunch. When you hear that, what is your reaction . Well that is the real joe biden. He is saying Something Different now, joining the the consensus President Trump helped form, as china as a real threat with the potential to do enormous damage to u. S. Interests in every part of the globe. So he is changing his tune in real time. But he is a problem for us on china because he was, during his nearly 50 years in washington, one of those who supported bringing china into the world trade organization. He is one of those who did not hold chinas feet to the fire on human rights issues and tie human rights abuses to u. S. China trade. And he wants a Corporate Tax level for the United States that surpasses that of china. When you look at the range of domestic and Foreign Policy views of joe biden it is a danger for the United States on china. Well go backwards, not forward. Elizabeth so what would immediate danger be to americans . I think it is, the immediate danger would be that the signal would be received by the chinese. That there is a new, quote, unquote sheriff in town. What theyre doing, all over the world on the african continent, and broader middle east, and the south china sea, that the United States wont respond with the kind of strength that donald trump has been building because he just sees the world, biden and his camp in a very different way. Lets cooperate first. Even if it entails preemptive concession making, which we know is the biggest danger of all in international relations. Elizabeth why is that the biggest danger, final word . We saw that in the cold war with the soviet union. Once you begin to make concessions before the other side has delivered what you expect from them, the deliverance never happens.
