Joe bidens plans might not be that helpful for the market no matter what moodys says. We raised a issue about moodys. Theyre saying it would be stimulative to the recovery. Moodys is a Municipal Bond rating firm. Under democrats generally a very a buoyant. News out of new york, Governor Cuomo says movie nighters outside of new york can open at 25 capacity. Here is the trouble. Those in the city dont think about it. One in Staten Island, owner of that theater does everything and anything he can to protect those that to go to his theater. Looks like he cant. For wait some time. Is that fair or balanced . We pick apart the theaters. You decide. Were keeping a very, very close eye on the real life movie playing out over stimulus. Right now growing confusion over nancy pelosi socalled 48hour deadline to come up with something from the white house, presumably. Republicans more generally to respond to her sort of bottom line deadline, get it done by tuesday or it is after the election. Lets get the latest from chad pergram, who always said it is about the math and right now it is still about the math, sir. Reporter absolutely it will be a about the math that theyre trying to get this across the finish line. Keep in mind theyre starting to run out of track. They dont have a lot of time to get a bill of this magnitude together, get it processed into legislative text, communicate this, educate the members what is in it. That is going to be key. You still have a lot of democrats pushing House Speaker nancy pelosi to get a deal. Among them ro khanna. A democrat from california. Im hopeful. I think speaker did the right thing to get a 48 hour deadline. Some requests are reasonable. We need a testing strategy and fully Fund Contract tracing. Reporter treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin is traveling in the middle east. Mnuchin and pelosi are expected to speak at 3 00 p. M. Eastern time. Pelosi hold House Democrats over the weekend that some of the administrations proposals are unacceptable when it comes to testing and tracing. She took particular issue how the administration would Contact Trace in communities of color. President trump has sent mixed messages how much he is willing to spend. President trump nancy pelosi may be coming along well find out. We want to do it. I want to do it at a bigger number than she wants. That doesnt mean all the republicans agree with me. I think they will in the end. If she would go along i think they would too with stimulus. Reporter it is unclear what number the president is embracing. Nancy pelosi wanted to spend 3. 4 trillion. She is in the 2. 2 trillion ranges. Senate republicans balked at 1. 8 trillion. Some republicans are distancing themselves from President Trump. Later in the week, Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell will try to put a bill on the floor, 500 billion that would reload the paycheck protection program. That shows you that disconnect between Senate Republicans and President Trump. We could have a procedural vote on that as early as tomorrow, neil. Stuart chad these reports that nancy pelosi and the president have not spoken in more than a year. Are those true . Reporter it is true, absolutely. Friday was the year deadline here. Just how long that has been going on. Keep in mind that were in this crisis. The fact that you dont have the speaker of the house and you dont have the president of the United States directly negotiating. There is a lot of republicans here who are not willing to support the president. This is where there is a question about whether or not they could get a deal. Whether or not would they try to move a deal with Majority Democrats . You have to go back toe skyler colfax to have a disconnect between the speaker of house and a president in the mid 19th century. Especially augmented during this pandemic,. Neil just incredible. Chad pergram, very, very much. The fallout from this whether stimulus appears or not. Brian brenberg, Kings College professor of economics and Fox News Contributor and rebecca walser. Thank you both very much for joining me. Let me begin, rebecca, with you, i dont know if its a good or bad thing that the speak of the house and the president of the United States have not talked to one another more than a year but it seems like that would be even more problematic if the president wins and it is four more years and xi has got to obviously break the ice here. What do you make of all of that. Yeah. It was interesting watching her exchange with wolf blitzer on cnn, neil. She was quite combative. Not very happy and said, she said herself this was normal. That the secretary is usually up there. The treasury secretary who she is normally talking with. It is not good. We need real communication. But the political divide we have in an Election Year for the presidency i dont think you will see the democratic speaker of the house being anymore friendly than she has been. Maybe past the election they will be able to say okay, youre stuck with me. Lets get some more communication going. I hope that is what i am hoping. Neil yeah. We havent seen anything like this in the better part of a century to chad pergrams point but well see. Brian, one thing im curious about, the stimulus itself. How badly do the markets need it . The president indicated he would like to see a big package, one substantially larger than republicans in the senate are talking about. So how important is that just to the markets right now . Everybody says it is very important to the markets, neil, but if anybody in the markets has been watching what is going on i cant believe they actually think something is going to happen before the election. This has been so much political posturing and so little activity on economic reality. Politicians wanted to get something done on unemployment, money for schools, money for Small Businesses they could have done that months ago. I actually think people are overestimating how much this matters to the markets. I think markets think something is coming probably in the new year once we get past the election but i cannot believe they think anything is coming in the near term because it is clear congress does not want to get something done here. Neil you know, looking at the way the markets are behaving of course they rise and fall based on the prospect of stimulus. Maybeaway over analyzing this. In brians point in the scheme of things it might not matter but, rebecca, one thing i do notice, some of the traditional things markets do look at which is earnings, by and large are pretty good, the optimism we come out of the pandemic, the worst of it much better than we thought we would, we made up half the jobs lost for example, if the election turns out to be a big win for democrats, lets say joe biden wins and they take the senate, is the market also telegraphing it can live with that . Or are we again, maybe, me, more to the point, overanalyzing it if. I dont think the market is pricing in. I know that wall street is behind biden if you look at donations but i just dont think investors are pricing in a biden win at this time. I think the tax policy is extremely alarming. Im extremely worried the biden implementing tax policy during the middle of a recovery that will put the recovery at best, potentially worse, put us into an economic spiral downwards. If you read his tax policy updated, even the urban inches stout revised their analysis of it last week because of all the promises he is making on the campaign trail to not cut taxes would repeal the whole thing, im not seeing the market thinking that biden will get elected right now. I think theyre focused on the shortterm stimulus but you know im extremely concerned this market is not going to be helped with a biden tax policy and a biden spend policy. I disagree with moodys saying it is cons dues sieve to the market coming out of i dont know where theyre getting their analysis on that. I disagree completely. Neil i dont want to be jaded on moodys. They would benefit pro is a lot of government offerings and spendings. That is what they do. They rate debt. Brian, when you look look at the landscape right now particularly for technology and all the other groups that have led us this far where do you see that going . In other words, when you talk to young people and views on the market, they dont necessarily rapidly invest and all, they might be tempted what do they say about this . I think the reason technology has run up so much i think it is sort of insulated either way because that is the era were moving into. The fact the less interested we are fully reopening the slower the recovery goes, in some ways the Better Technology is. The more people are at home, the more theyre working at home, the more these companies benefit. So i think young people are showing us why technology has been the big bet. Their preference is to be on these platforms. From a work perspective that is where weve been shifting. My concern is, if we move all in the direction of technology, there is a huge percentage of the workforce that gets left behind. There are so many workers who depend on getting back to work, on doing real things with their hands and we are leaving them behind every single day we dont push for smart reopening. Youre talking about theaters. That is an entire industry that is sort of on the edge right now, because people cant get back to work. Not just people in theaters. It is people who make the films. There will be a shift, it will move to streaming, so forth. This is a big issue for people outside of tech. We ought to think about them, not Just Companies seeing a big runup here. Neil a very good point. Final word on the subject. Brian, thank you. Rebecca, thank you as always, guys. Were down 62 points on the Dow Jones Industrials waiting to see what becomes of the 3 00 p. M. Phone call between treasury secretary Steve Mnuchin and the speaker of the house. Those two are talking by the way. We mentioned a lot about the Biden Economic plan. Moodys say it will be stimulative but a lot of spending but you might want to question your sources whether there is real, a lot of truth to that because Hoover Institution has a exhaustive study takes a look at joe bidens plans not only to tax rich folks, those 400,000 and over, depends on what your definition of the rich is, to hike corporate taxes from 21 , 28 , phase out goodies and deductions both enjoyed, companies and rich individuals, that would bring their tax rates prohibitively higher. Jillian melchior, wall street journal editorial writer, much, much more. Up shot, jillian, always good to have you. The up shot of that report says be careful what you wish for, that the biden plan will have corrosive effect, not immediate, but it piles on as the years go on. Is that the gist of it . By 2030, 6500 less in Median Income under the biden plan. That is not a surprise. What youre seeing a combination of higher taxes and more regulation. When you tax something you get less of it. We have seen businesses sluggish under the obama administration, sluggish under the combination before. Then roaring to life with the trump tax reform and trump deregulation. The biden policy is essentially obama policy on steroids. It is much more aggressive. More influenced by the sanders wing of the party. Longterm effect on business, entrepreneurship, for emmoment in the u. S. , for opportunity in the u. S. , this would really take a hit. Neil one thing that is interesting here, if you talk about the upper income, bring the top rate back to 39. 6 from 37, what is lost in that argument is the limitless tax hit you get on Social Security related taxes. Then you start adding in what states are already doing, youre now well over 50 top rate. I cannot imagine that is not going to have impact . It will have impact. I want to make it very clear. The democrats say this will tax the rich. They will go after wall street. But these Spending Plans are so big, theyre so ambitious, that i dont even think that is possible. This is, make no mistake will end up being a tax on the middle class. With the Energy Policies in particular, it will drive up utility costs, going to make it more expensive for you to drive. This is regressive. It will hit poorist americans too. Neil one thing left out of this, when you freely acknowledge you will raise the corporate rate from 21 to 28 . Of course not as high as it was at the highest, 35 when President Trump started cutting these taxes you can make the margement companies will have to pare expenses in an environment where their tax burden just jumped seven full percentage points. Normally the way they do that is they cut workers or certainly cut their hours. That will almost invariably happen. Yeah. I think that it is going to be really tough. Weve already seen workers with less skill, less education, sort of these bluecollar jobs taking a hit during covid. Those are the same jobs it will be more difficult to come back. The people on the margin here that will really struggle. Unfortunately the biden plan, offers handouts but i think a lot of these people wont work. I also dont think the handouts will be enough to supplement the work that is lost. Neil do you think that a president biden, if it came to that, just like, his old boss, barack obama would put off the returning the top rate back to its old level and some of these other tax hikes if the environment is as crappy as he says it is . It is tough, really difficult to speculate what may or may not happen but i think we need to look at the big picture here. That is that the biden plan is very much rooted in raising taxes an increasing regulations. And that does have an Economic Cost regardless what he says. That cost is borne not just by rich americans, not just by millionaires and billionaires. It is born by every american. Neil well see what happens, jillian. Those enthusiastic about the biden camp. They say spending itself will be stimulative to the economy. Many were telling me including some on my weekend shows this saturday, that is why the markets are holding their own. Theyre looking forward to the stimulus that would more than outweigh the uptick in taxes. It is in the eye of the beholder. You can see it through every prism what you want. That is a fair and balanced view where both parties are coming on this. Meantime the final debate of the season on thursday, nashville, tennessee, the final confrontation between joe biden and donald trump. Well cover it live on this fine network, beginning 8 00 p. M. There are people who handle this sort of thing. Illegal weapons, 2 30. You missed it. Neil forget about seeing any movies at all because a lot of people across the country, even where theyre allowed to are not really rushing out to take ad sang of that. Well see what is happening in the new york city metropolitan area where no theatres allowed to open right now. It is bugging the heck out of a guy with a very, very spiffy theater in Staten Island but ahead of that, can you imagine this is impacting the big apples film and Entertainment Industry. It is just ground to a halt. Kristina partsinevelos on what is happening right now . Reporter neil, it did ground to a halt but i will start with a positive note. There are roughly tv Film Productions underway in the state even though there has been rising areas of infections. All the major studios though in new york are not in the red zones including the kaufman astoria studios behind me where sesame street, orange is the new black is filmed here this is great news for industry that brings in roughly 60 billion of activity to the state and 3 billion annually in tax dollars. What we know is going underway . The spiderman, the latest production has begun, the tv shows like blue bloods, the marvelous mrs. Maisel. Maximum of 100 people outdoors on shoots. 100 feet distance from outdoor diners, to get their permission that will maybe it complicated once production begins in the city. None of those three tables filled with food. Capacity at areas like the studio right behind me. This is an industry that employs roughly 100,000 people in the area. Really, pretty much helps about 2000 local businesses. This is according to the state. But as the commissioner of new york states median and Entertainment Industry says, many of these jobs have not come back. Our number of workers in the arts and entertainment sector still have not been through the aid packages come down. To the extent we continue to push for that, i think it is absolutely critical. Reporter in a city where Office Towers sit vacant, tourism is shot, unemployment is higher and Movie Theaters are closed i guess the one bright spot is film and tv production making a comeback. Back to you. Neil that is good news to hear. Hopefully well see that spread a little bit. Kristina, thank you very, very much. All this might be too little too late for greg, the atrium Movie Theater owner on Staten Island, new york. The governor in case youre keeping track in new york announced Movie Theaters can indeed reopen but not in the new york city metropolitan area. So, greg, just when it looked like things were easing up, the governor governor more or less said dont get excited. What do you do . Neil, thanks for having me on. We had a good bit of news, seems like the governor of new york is moving in the right direction. He allowed heaters in up state and central haveh valley new york, at 25 capacity. Unfortunately it left new york out of the equation. New york city counts for seven to 10 of good Domestic Box Office gross for any given film. What does that equate too . The studios will not release big budgeted films unless they get new york and l. A. Back on line. Were still in a Holding Pattern right now. Neil im curious, have he ever had a known covid19 case that originated in theater anywhere . I dont think we have. No, neil, globally, anywhere around the globe, china, europe, there still hasnt been any direct association between covid19 and somebody going into a theater and it is interesting you said that because right now were able to, you know, trace and track people and figure out where they have, where they have got the disease or contacted the disease but so far nothing has been traced back to a Movie Theater. Neil so when you hear about some of these plans elsewhere, where 25 capacity, people spread out, you know, theyre obviously practicing other safe measures. People are honoring those and we havent had any incidents in these areas where they have reopened theaters, how do you make that pitch and keep running into the same brick wall . Well, look, you know, safety first in any business and organization right now and health and well being of everybody is first and foremost. But you mentioned it, 25 . You know, whats the pitch we make . I will take 25 . Hopefully they will grow from there. We can survive on 25 . You know, the fact of the matter is, if there is a movie that comes out, most of the people that want to see the movie, they will show up on the weekends on friday or saturday nights, instead of showing up on friday or saturday nights they come on tuesday or wednesday afternoon. If they want to see the film, they will make their way. It is the old adage. They will come. Put out some good product . People come back to the theaters. The industry has been around for 120 years. We survived the great depression, world war ii. Most recently the great recession. That was one of the best years in our industry. You know people want to go to the movies. There is no doubt about it. Its a cheap form of entertainment. Lets get them back in the seats but we need some good product. Neil yeah. All that good product is delayed, right . We talk about the spiderman movie. Batman. Pushed into back a year. James bond the character is 90 years old, the movie was supposed to come out a decade ago. I make a point. It is pushed back another six or 12 months. Im wondering, once that comes, do you think this will be, if this continues, can you wait that long until the middle of next year when the supply is supposely going to return . Neil, it is estimated that 69 of all small and mediumsized theaters will be out of business if we got to wait that long. We cant afford it. Im in the lucky position. Im in a major market. Weve got a good theater. Weve got a good customer base. Yes, i will be able to hold on but the momandpop theater, you know, in central new york, theyre going to struggle, you know. Theyre closing as it is. It is hard for them to keep up with changes in the industry to begin with. But having a waiting game, they have still got to pay rent. They still got to pay taxes. They still have to pay insurance. These numbers keep on growing and there is nothing coming in. You mentioned james bond, no time to die, that was a big gut punch to us in the industry. Here in new york, we were gearing up for, you know, thanksgiving weekend. That is one of the busiest weekends in the industry. No time to die was a big movie that was going to drive people back into the theater. Once mgm decided to pull that show, it left us with a blank slate. There are a couple of mediumsized pictures that are out. Case in point, lee ila ilaaliamniesson had a honest thief. Theyre at 25 to 50 capacity. So 3. 7 million isnt to bad for a movie estimated to do around 12 million. What us it does tell me that people neil that was a surprise. Proves the appetite is out there. But to your point, you have to have the product for them to see and that is a example that theyre chomping at the bit to see it. Greg, i wish you well. Im sure you will get through this, but one day at a time they say. Thank you very, very much. Hang in there. Thank you very much. Neil all right. Much ado about jack dorsey and whether twitter just has a bias against conservatives, the dustup over this New York Post article. Were getting word of a call the president had with Campaign Staffers around the country in which he said, he sees victory. Were going to win. I wouldnt have told you that two or three weeks ago but were going to win. He says our position has never been stronger during a call with these staffers. He mentioned, right now, that the momentum is his friend. He said, ladies and gentlemen, young women, young men, you have a great future. Im very happy. This is the day, both the campaign and i feel the best about winning because were winning in many states. He goes on to specify what is happening with improving trends in florida, South Carolina and georgia. In early voting in michigan pointing to the fact were winning early numbers there. I dont know how you carnival date that. Maybe theyre talking about polling. They dont a announce those eary ballots that are going on right there but the president is saying that. That is something that is in our favor. Im paraphrasing there. Well have more on this. Blake burman will update in a short while. The president very optomistic he will pull this one out two weeks from tomorrow of course is election day. In the meantime there is a dustup over twitter and make it next to impossible, outright impossible for you to retweet the New York Post story. Say whatever you want about the New York Post story, there are some issues that a lot of people have with that. Twitter didnt even give you a chance to sort of pass it along to people because they had enough of it. And that is raising some serious hackles right now. Jackie deangelis with the latest on that. Jackie. Reporter Senate Judiciary will vote whether or not to subpoena jack dorsey for a hearing on friday. This is after what youre talking about the censorship of that New York Post article on Hunter Bidens emails to a consultant for the Ukranian Energy company burisma. After the backlash, jack dorsey apologized to everyone, quote, straight blocking of urls was wrong he said in part in a tweet on his own platform, twitter. But what about other twitter employees . Our employees are professionals, we require them to bring objectivity to their work regardless of their personal views. The rnc filed a federal elections complaint over twitters ban on sharing that New York Post story about hunter biden claiming that that ban actually amounts to as much as an illegal corporate, corporate in kind contribution to Vice President bidens campaign. Mark meadows, chief of staff at the white house, weighed in on fox friends this is morning. If there is any interference in the election it is by twitter and facebook right now in trying to put a particular narrative out there. They will have not only a problem with the American People but theyre going to have pa problem with congress as this will bring republicans and democrats together to make sure that they once and for all held accountable for their actions. Reporter right now, neil, well see if jack dorsey is one of those people that have to answer here for what happened here. Back to you. Neil thank you, jack did jackie deangelis. Thats emails from staffers, doesnt warrant a fox news alert. What would, hearing complimentary things about the president that is neither here nor there. Theresa peyton joins us, the former white house chief information officer. Theresa, what do you make of all of this . If there were any doubt that executives at twitter were no fans of the president that sort of dispels that notion. It does, and this gets back to twitter and other social Media Companies, neil, they need to be very transparent around what is your governance process for when you do flag a post as misinformation, or you block an account or you block a link . And that lack of transparency is a real issue here. So maybe if the Governance Framework was known, it wouldnt matter how the employees felt for or against a particular candidate or belief, if the Governance Framework was in place, we all knew the rules we were supposed to be following. Neil i have a lot of issues and concerns, questions about the New York Post story myself. I mean the timing of this and computer shop, all of that, giving it to rudy giuliani, i get that, concerned issues about that. My biggest trouble is with this story let me decide then. If im going to read it and partake in this, i want to pass this along to others, retweet it or send it, i cant, i know the same service, twitter was in fact allowing Washington Post and New York Times articles criticizing the piece to be retweeted, to be resent, that is a pretty glaring double standard there . That definitely is. I have actually written about ma manipulation and Misinformation Campaigns i wrote in a book, manipulated, check three different sources to read three different parts of an issue to make up their own mind. Twitter decided for you and me they wouldnt let us read different sources to make up our own mind. Youre right, i have concerns as well. I have more questions than answers around what was really sort of the digital chain of custody of this laptop . Who had access to it . Was it secured, was it protected before it was actually pulled for an investigation . Because that is really important when youre doing Digital Forensics is to know how many hands has it been in and who has touched it so you know how pristine or not the actual data is that youre investigating. Neil yeah. I just think in this world where they are being the arbiter or the umpire, let us decide. If we find it specious or not worthy well move on, but for you to babysit us, tell us what we can and cannot read or send on to other folks that is the real obnoxious part here. Has nothing to do with the article itself but an organization deciding we dont think this is fair, we dont think this is good, that is a little big brother nasty to me. Your take . Oh, it really can be. Weve been talking about how important it is to actually protect the news media from nation states basically threatening news media, silencing their voices and who needs nation states when we have social Media Companies taking it upon themselves to silence the media this is a real issue. And again, i think there was good intentions behind the blocking of the story but without a framework, without a process, and without transparency, now weve got this real mess on our hands. This is time for social Media Companies, not just twitter to stand up and say here is how we automate and curate what things which flag as misinformation. Neil if so many in my organization are one bent on this story, that probably gets in the way of getting anything approaching a fair and balanced view of this story but thats the crazy world we live in. Thank you very much. Good catching up with you on this. In the meantime here well get you updates on that phone call the president has had with supporters, very confident right now that he is going to do well, that things are turning around in a lot of key states. Now a Senior Administration official just told me that in november the Distribution Network will be finished and in place just waiting for the fda approval of the vaccine going through each of those faces. Each dose will come in chilled containers with everything needed to give the vaccination, including the vial and the dose and the needle. So states dont need to worry about buying those things. Back to you. Neil edward, thank you very, very much. Even i understood that the way you presented it. Thank you my friend. Developments in the uk. I want to pass this quickly along to you. Police are giving access to details of people told to isolate or selfquarantine when they are in the country or arrive in the country. This is a way to toughen up the test and trace system. There is a lot of criticism in the uk, once youve been cited for someone should isolate and quarantine they disappear into the woodwork. They will get the police involved. They will follow you. Okay. Right after this. Before money, people traded goods. Tools, cattle, grain, even shells represented value. Then currency came along. They made it out of copper, gold, silver, wampum. Soon people decided to put all that value into a piece of paper, then proceeded to wave goodbye to value, printing unlimited amounts of money as they passed the buck to the future. Thats why its time for Digital Currency and your investment in the grayscale funds. Go digital. Go grayscale. So youre a small bor a big one. You were thriving, but then. Oh. Ah. Okay. Plan, pivot. How do you bounce back . You dont, you bounce forward, with serious and reliable internet. Powered by the largest gig Speed Network in america. But is it secure . Sure its secure. And even if the power goes down, your connection doesnt. So how do i do this . You dont do this. We do this, together. Bounce forward, with comcast business. Service stand back, im gonna show ya how doug and limu roll, ya you know you got to live it if you wanna wi. [ music stops ] time out only pay for what you need. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Neil early voting has begun in the sunshine state. Florida just starting that process. 1. 7 mailin ballots. They have been busy bees there. Phil keithing with the latest from miami. Hey, phil. Reporter hi, neil. Both candidates, biden and trump feel winning florida is critical to their election to be president. In fact most political analysts believe in President Trump does not win florida and its 29 Electoral College votes his chances of reelection are incredibly small. Joe biden said last week, take a look at live voting happening in this lunch hour right now. Joe biden said last week when he was down in south florida, quote, if we win florida, and it is all over. So, both candidates are campaigning hard in the state of florida. People are voting early today. And, it has been a good, steady stream all morning. And, into the afternoon. There was a line this morning, you know, from 7 00 a. M. To basically 9 00 a. M. When people started going to work. Up in jacksonville there were equally long lines early in the morning as well. Inclement weather has been an issue in the state today, but people were still braving the rain and holding umbrellas, standing in line outside, for their turn to go inside and early vote. Up in palm beach county, take a look at the scene in palm beach gardens. Also people, dealing with the rain but dedicated to casting their ballots. Here in orlando, the Orange County superivsor of elections gave this advice. Weve seen lines at all of our sites which is and encouraging sign that voters are ready to cast their ballots and my message to people who want to early vote, do it sooner rather than later, because when we get to the end of the 14 days it will be much more crowded. Reporter about 2. 5 million floridians have already voted via mailin balloting. That is about more than 25 of the 8 million or so that are anticipated to cast their ballots in this 2020 president ial election. Back to you, neil. Neil just amazing, phil, in the middle of a pandemic, could have voter turn out in this election no matter how it is done, well past the modern record, of jfk and richard nixon. They didnt have anything like this or a pandemic back then. More after this. Businesses today are looking to tomorrow. Adapting. Innovating. Setting the course. But new ways of working demand a new type of network. One thats more than just fast. You need flexibility to work from anywhere. And manage from everywhere. Advanced technology. With serious security. And reliable coverage, nationwide. Forwardthinking enterprises, deserve forwardthinking solutions. And thats what we deliver. So bounce forward, with comcast business. Neil all right. Only two weeks to go, two weeks to the day until election day. The president will be holding two events in arizona. That race is very very tight here, but this is the sixth time he will be visiting that state to show how important it is for him. Ahead of that, we are getting word of these comments he has made in a teleconference, if you will, with Campaign Supporters where hes very optimistic were going to win and the trend is his friend. Paraphrasing here. In all these battleground states, where hes closing the gap and in some states, winning. He was reading early returns or voting that were getting out of michigan, not returns, but apparently he has or staff has or is optimistic enough to say were winning there. So well get the latest on all of that a little later. To Connell Mcshane right now in arizona ahead of a very very crucial president ial visit. This has really stacked up to be a battleground, hasnt it . Reporter it is this time. I know the democrats have been going after it for years but this time it does appear to be very close even though the president said on that call that he does think hes winning here in arizona. He needs to. It depends for voters whether they are focused on the economy or the virus. That seems to be the split when we talk to people and we spent a lot of time doing that inmaricopacounty because thats where the votes are, most of them, in arizona. We were in gilbert, located southeast of phoenix and what we found there is speaking to voters, was that the president does seem to have a good chance of keeping arizona red if the focus of these voters remains on Economic Issues. The economy [ inaudible ] much better with him being president. Before covid, of course, our unemployment was at its lowest. I feel that he does what he says hes going to do. Hes accomplished a lot in the time that hes been president. I feel with donald trump hes going to help us bring back our economy, keep our freedom. Reporter what the polling shows despite the president s assertion that hes up a few points is that joe biden is polling much better than an average democrat here in arizona. Hes still leading in the average. The opening for biden seems to be when the conversation turns away from these Economic Issues to other topics like race or possibly the president s response to the coronavirus. The way trump kind of went about it was kind of they didnt give us a good example as a nation. I think biden can handle it a little bit better, little bit more [ inaudible ] going around. Reporter early voting started here on the 7th of october. Something of a tradition to either vote early or, and or vote by mail in arizona. As a matter of fact, in the midterms of 2018, 78 of arizona voters voted through the mail. Primaries this year, that number shot up to 88 . Thats how they do it here. One note about the president , with two stops in the state later today, instead of focusing on the Population Centers around phoenix, where we were reporting from, the president s more focused on turning out the rural vote which was a big source of support for him last time around. He thinks it could drive turnout from there, he could keep this state red. Back to you. Neil beautiful backdrop there, my friend. Beautiful state, arizona. Lets get the read on that phone call we have been telling you about the president had, and he let some of the media listen in on this, including jessica chambers, mcclatchy white house correspondent. I dont know if you got to listen to the whole thing but the president was obviously very upbeat, very optimistic. Can you give us the details . Reporter well, at times the president was upbeat and optimistic but he was actually very frustrated and made that known. He cursed a few times about Media Coverage of his campaign and he insisted that he was winning right now, that public polling shows that he isnt is inaccurate. He told his staff not to read the newspapers in the leadup to the election. He told them just stay focused on the task at hand and what he was especially frustrated about this morning was the report that there is strife between him and white house chief of staff mark meadows as well as ronna mcdaniel, the Republican National committee chairwoman. He denied that reporting, said that its not true. Neil we do have some audio thats made its way here. If you can stay here, i want to bring in blake burman, our white house correspondent. Blake, you have a couple interesting remarks the president made, right . Reporter i have listened in to this audio clip. It was part of a talk that the president was giving to his Campaign Staff earlier today at around 11 00 this morning. It is the president s voice on audio completely clear. A couple big headlines for you here. First off, the president was openly acknowledging that his campaign in the last few weeks or at least a few weeks ago maybe wasnt in the place that it should have been, but the president feels and he said this multiple times and on this day, hes in the best spot that he feels as if that he feels they have ever been in throughout this entire campaign. Listen here to the president , again, audio clip from this morning, talking about where he feels they are right now in this campaign. Roll it. Were going to win. We would have told you that maybe two or three weeks ago. Were going to win. Were winning in arizona. Were winning if florida. Right now were winning in florida by three, maybe even four. We have an incredible staff in florida. Pennsylvania is even but i think were going to win. Every stop i attend, i have 25,000 people. Sometimes more, sometimes a little less. And we do a stop like one day, lets go to pennsylvania tomorrow and we press a button and we end up going to some airport some place and well have 25, 30,000 people. What we did in michigan was unbelievable. You know were up in michigan, a poll has us one or two points up in michigan which is shocking. More shocking is the early vote in michigan. I dont know if this is still true because of [ inaudible ] but the early vote in michigan where we were supposed to be at 20 and they were supposed to be at 80 , and its always been that way for years, and centuries, but for years, we are now up in the early vote which is nobodys ever seen a thing like that. Reporter the president saying at one point, we are editing this on the fly, the president saying quote, we are going to win, i wouldnt have said that two weeks ago, three weeks ago. I dont know i would have said it, it was tougher for me. An acknowledgment there from the president about the state of the campaign. Also working to turn around sound as it relates to dr. Anthony fauci because at one point, on that phone call, the president absolutely unloaded on the governments top Infectious Disease doctor. I will paraphrase here part of what the president said about dr. Fauci again on this phone call this morning. He says quote, people are tired of hearing fauci and all these idiots, end quote. The president then went on to say, paraphrasing, fauci is a nice guy, hes been here for 500 years, hes called every one of them wrong. The president goes on to say every time he goes on tv, theres a bomb but theres a bigger bomb if you fire him, but fauci is a quote, disaster. The president goes on to say if i listened to him, there would be some 500,000 deaths. Wide ranging phone call, neil, again recorded this morning, the president to his Campaign Staff. Feels his campaigns in a good place, unloads on dr. Fauci and theres also lots of talk about joe biden which he thinks the hunter biden story is a very big deal and he thinks joe biden essentially is corrupt and beyond that. Neil . Neil i had no idea fauci was there for 500 years. Man, i got to tip my hat to him. Keep going. Thank you, my friend. Blake burman. Back to francesca chambers. Do you know the references the president made to michigan, all of the early voting, they dont count that, maybe im thinking hes counting the early republican ballots versus democratic ballots . How did he discern that hes leading . Well, he also, the campaign also had said their internal polling doesnt show the same thing that the public polling shows. They say it shows a different race than what were seeing. However, you mentioned this early voting and also the absentee by mail. If you look at a state like florida, more democrats than republicans have requested absentee by mail ballots and more have voted, because requesting one isnt the same as turning it in. More democrats have turned in those ballots. But the campaign, the Trump Campaign has been consistent with saying they expect their voters to turn out on election day compared with voting early. So they really are counting on this flood of Trump Supporters showing up at the polls on election day to counteract the early lead by democrats. Neil you know, one other thing and we will get a little more on the fauci stuff, but hes now just sort of taken the gloves off. Is there any doubt about that, separately dr. Birx is saying shes concerned with who is talking to the president right now and has some serious concerns that that info is not getting out or a balanced view of that info on the virus is getting out. It sounds sort of like a medical community disarray, at least the people advising him. How would you characterize it . Blake was reading nearly word for word what the president said about dr. Fauci, which were some of the more surprising comments, when he said he was seemed like it was almost a mocking tone, he said hes given sage advice and said that that advice has been wrong and that again, if he had listened, he claimed more americans would be dead from coronavirus than now. But that is further neil we lost that feed here. Again, i believe the quote attached to fauci, they are incorrect. I dont remember the half million count that the president was alluding to but i could have missed something. We will try to get that. I want to go to the congressman from the beautiful state of pennsylvania, serves in the house ways and means committee, much much more. Congressman, the president also mentioned your fine state, saying things are turning around there. Are they . Neil, i can speak for the district that im in and the president is up like 9 , 10 if we take polls in the last month, one at the beginning of the month, one towards the end. We are in the middle of one right now. But if you are here on the ground in pennsylvania, it was hard to believe theres even another person running against the president. Weve got people saying you cant look at yard signs. How about the sides of barns, how about the sides of cars, how about the sides of buildings where its all trump, pence, trump, and drain the swamp. I have a really strong feeling this president is really in a good position. But again, but again, you know, we both know first time voters, people who registered and voted for the first time in 2016, not one of those people are being polled by anybody right now because they are not considered a likely voter. Neil interesting. We do know that early indications are record voter turnout in your state, might apply to your district as well, congressman, dwarfing the numbers we saw four years ago when there was an uptick in activity. Who would that typically favor . Like in a state like pennsylvania, largely democratic state, your appearance and house delegation notwithstanding, what would that mean . Well, registrations in pennsylvania, thousands upon thousands upon thousands of new people registering as republicans so its hard to look at the data. Its one thing i know is so inconsistent is polls. You look at one poll, its in your favor, you like it. If theres another poll thats not in your favor, you dont like it. Tell you what, in pennsylvania right now, this president from everything that i can see, hes the guy that ran for the first time, never ran for office, told people what he was going to do if they elected him and has actually done it. Outside of the china flu which is not the trump flu but the china flu, i think things have gone very well for america. I know this is a challenge. I had the flu myself and recovered as part of a plasma program, i still have the antibodies, to try to help out to come up with a cure. Vaccine is one thing, therapeutic is another thing. We have to have them working together. I got to tell you, hes so strong here and you will see it. He will be in erie tomorrow. I dont care if it rains, snows, sleet, sunshine, he will be here and there will be 25,000, maybe more people coming to see this guy. Neil if memory serves me right, Bernie Sanders had huge crowds, much bigger crowds than joe biden enjoyed. Im going back to days before the pandemic. We know in retrospect that didnt necessarily telegraph the results. I can remember covering even the Dukakis Campaign in 1988. He had huge, humongous crowds and of course, it didnt make a difference. He was defeated in a landslide. Not saying the same applies here. I am wondering whether campaigns can read too much into those crowd sizes. Clearly the passion is with him among those who love him and want to see him reelected, but is that really reflective, do you think, in the end of the final vote . Because theres passion on the other side, too. Maybe not so much for joe biden as much as against donald trump. What do you think . Yeah. Isnt it amazing. If you were to ask people who do you think you will vote for and if they say well, i think im leaning towards biden, you will say what is it, in this president s policies youre offended with or how did he not say what he was going to do and do it and the question is i dont care about the policies, i just hate this guy. So if you hate the president more than you love the country, i think thats a serious indication of where we have gone as a nation. Thats the saddest part of all this. I watched that happen, im saying honestly, i mean, thats really what it comes down to. If the only reason you can say you are going to vote for joe biden is because you dont like donald trump, wow. I will go back to eighth grade and the president of the class was the prettiest cheerleader or the quarterback of the football team. It really wasnt based on policy then either. Im afraid thats what the country is looking at. I think the best thing we can do is look into whats taking place. History is a great indication of how the futures going to look. This president s agenda has been phenomenal. We have seen numbers we never saw before. I mean, in erie, in erie, think about this, think about this. In over half a century, we havent had the employment numbers we had. Wages rising more than they have ever risen in half a century. This is the stuff thats makebelieve or a promise made on a stump. This is actual hard data, seeing it happen in everyday lives. The tax cuts and opportunity zones are resurrecting the community of erie. Theres just so much good out there and i talk to people, they are still so jaded because they just dont like the president and you know what, i dont think its so much loving the president , who i think has done a phenomenal job, but what about whats good for america. Whats good for everyday americans. I dont think a socialist a communist looking agenda makes any sense to me at all, especially for the millions of americans in uniform that gave their lives, neil, gave their lives to make sure we had the ability to choose the way we want to choose and looking towards the future and looking about whats best for not only our kids and grandkids and great grandkids, how about ourselves right now on the ground today. Thats all critical. Neil congressman mike kelly. Youre the best, neil. Thank you. Neil thank you very very much. We will see what happens. Congressman kelly on that. On the heels of Governor Andrew Cuomo in new york allowing theaters to reopen in new york, not the new york city metropolitan area, look whats happening to amc entertain tmen holdings, Parent Company of amc theater chain. The company said it would be resuming operations on october 23rd at many of the theaters in the state of new york. Again, they could reopen and undo all of that stuff but they need quality new films to show and they are in very very short supply as we have been telling you here, but that is an Important Development. In the meantime, an Important Development where the landlords throughout america are complaining about these no eviction orders that are in effect. They cant kick tenants out for going month after month without paying their rent. The latest right now from dan springer in seattle, how all that is going down. Not well with that crowd, i suspect, right . Reporter definitely, neil. This is a really big deal whether you are in an apartment and having trouble paying your rent, or you own that apartment building. We are seeing many of these temporary eviction bans in cities and states across the country. In fact, theres a federal temporary eviction ban that is in effect until the end of this year and the reason behind it is pretty simple. Government officials dont want to see mass evictions during a pandemic. More homeless means more spread of the virus. Forced business shutdowns threw millions of people out of work. The Unemployment Rate is still at 8 , double the prepandemic figure. Landlords say it is unfair and illegal for them to be forced to shoulder the entire housing burden when it comes to tenants who cant or in some cases, wont pay their rent. We spoke with chastity bryant who bought a house to rent out. She has not been paid rent for the last four months even though the tenant still has a job. She cant pay the utilities and is struggling with the mortgage so she is now working a third job delivering newspapers. I cant work all day because im still Breast Feeding but i have to do something because we have bills to pay and we cant have nothing. You know what i mean . We have no other option. Reporter a lawsuit filed in Washington State claims the eviction ban which has been in place here since march and was just extended through the end of the year amounts to a government taking of private property without compensation. But similar legal challenges have failed and a recent study estimated that up to 20 million renters could face eviction without the moratorium. Advocates say more stimulus is needed. Much better to have Congress Step in, pay these bills, stabilize the housing market, then we will get back to business as usual. Reporter of course, congress did pass that cares act which was supposed to alleviate some of this problem, but that money has run out. In a lot of cases that money hasnt even gone to the people who own these rental buildings. In fact, one study points to a possible amount owed to landlords right now at 16 billion across the country. Thats a lot of money that you have to, you know, eat right now while the pandemic continues. Neil . Neil sure. Dan, thank you for that update, in seattle. Want to go to Charlie Gasparino as we talk about whats happening in the real estate world but also, the corporate financing world, where a lot of commercial real estate, lets say not a good time for people invested there and people who dominate that industry. Charlie, what can you tell us . Charlie yeah, real estate is all over the map. There are housing prices going up because people are leaving cities to buy houses in suburbs so im here in connecticut, housing prices are doing just fine here. There are problems with multifamily dwellings as the last reporter just pointed out. And really big problems in the commercial real estate market, neil. This is something you and i spoke about a couple months ago. We were first to report this. Other outlets are now catching up about and how essentially the problems in commercial real estate are showing up in commercial real estate bond prices, how they are declining rapidly. Heres what we do know. The latest information i have from my trading sources who follow this market. 90 to 120 day delinquencies on commercial real estate are surging since june. We did our last report in the summer. They have gone from 4 billion in june to about 30 billion. Now, thats a lot, neil. What we understand is that because of that surge, an estimated 40 billion in commercial real estate bonds are in whats known as default. That means they are trading at a certain level thats way below par and they are not if they are paying interest, its barely. The hardesthit part of this commercial real estate sector, believe it or not, are hotels. Hotels are, if you look at hotels in manhattan, they are being subsidized by the government where they are putting homeless in but in other parts of the city, theyre not and Hotels Remain closed for a large part throughout major metropolitan areas. Now, interesting to note, when you ask traders why is the commercial real estate business not picking up like the Home Real Estate business. Well, they point out to a lack of support, despite the low interest rates, the fed has a really hard time convincing people to go back to work in major cities. Companies, as you know, ours included, have workathome rules. People, restaurants in new york city, particularly in manhattan, are not open right now. Or are open just marginally, 25 , inside seating and outside seating. So put all this together, youve got commercial real estate in whats known as a depression right now. If theres one problem with getting the economy back going, its getting commercial real estate back because i will tell you this. If commercial real estate doesnt come back, banks will have to write down the loans, banks can take a major hit and every time we have had a financial crisis its usually related to banks taking major hits on their balance sheet. Back to you. Neil thank you very very much. Meantime, we are learning a little more what the president had to say about dr. Fauci and the exact comments to Campaign Staffers around the world. It sounds like the bloom is off the rose. Again, you could argue that for quite some time now, the two men have separated pretty severely here. He called dr. Fauci, that is the president , the nations leading Infectious Disease specialist, a total disaster. People he says simply were tired of the coronavirus, want to be left alone, denounced the Media Coverage hes getting on this story, went on to say that dr. Faucis a nice guy but hes been here for about 500 years. Every time he goes on television theres always a bomb but theres a bigger bomb if you fire him. This guys a disaster. Clearly then the president must have been contemplating firing him and he said hes been wrong on every count here, paraphrasing here, on following up on a 60 minutes interview dr. Fauci just did, that there is an extreme risk of reigniting cases in this country, the 500,000 dead the president alluded to might go back to the fears dr. Fauci had raised when this pandemic started that if people dont honor lockdown provisions and all in place, it could restart as it has globally in places in europe like britain and france, where there are curfews in place. Those key counts, dr. Fauci was very very accurate here and now with about 220,000 deaths in the United States, that is not to say that they will go still higher. Hopefully not 500,000 higher, but it might be a moot point right now because the president s clearly had it with dr. Fauci, its fair to say. Maybe dr. Fauci has had it with the president. Enter dr. Birx, herself has been critical of scott atlas, key medical adviser seems to be taking over Public Policy medical statements related to covid. There are separate reports that she and others have been urging he be dumped from the white house. She has not personally commented on that other than to say when it comes to the advice the president is getting, they are not on the same page and those who are regular members of those Coronavirus Task force meetings, they are not happy and worse, the president is not happy. Stay with us. When i was in high school, this was the theater i came to quite often. The support weve had over the last few months has been amazing. Its not just a work environment. Everyone here is family. If you are ready to open your heart and your home, check us out. We thought for se that we were done. And this town said not today. Neil all right. Just factchecking a lot of the stuff were getting on this stuff that apparently has materialized between dr. Fauci and the president of the United States. We dont have a whole lot of time but i can tell you unequivocally dr. Fauci is not 500 years old. So when we get anything more on that, i will keep you posted. In the meantime, the dustup right now about whether they will be looking at restrictions in this country like tler looki theyre looking at in europe, you might not want to dismiss it all together, that is flying, because you might be safer up there when it comes to just breathing than you are down here. Jeff flock following all of that from Chicagos Ohare International airport. Jeff, whats going on here . Reporter i dont know that its safe to breathe anywhere these days, neil. Its kind of scary. But it might be safer to fly, not just because you have a mask on which is what they require here at ohare, other airports around the country, but because the air is cleaned in the aircraft. Take a look at pictures of a study that the Defense Department did on 777 and 767 aircraft. They loaded them with mannequins, then dispersed fluorescent a fluorescent aerosols to approximate covid dispersal and the results were remarkable, i think. Take a look at this. They found that the tparticulats in the air were 15 times better, safer than in your house and even five to six times safer than a sterile operating room. Apparently the Filtration Systems on the aircraft eliminated about 99. 7 of the particulates through the filtration, through the High Exchange rate of the air in the cabins and that downward ventilation you get from the overhead vents. Speaking of those, i fly all the time, i fly every week back and forth from chicago to philadelph philadelphia, and i have done that throughout the entire pandemic. I noticed that when a lot of people get on there, they turn those vents off but the experts say actually, the vents should be on. People dont want that air blown on them. Well, actually, it turns out, they say, the air is clean and when you blow that air down, any particulates that come toward you from say your seat mate or something, or somewhere else, gets blown down to the ground or the floor and then it makes it safer. The airlines are trumpeting this. United says basically nonexistent chance of getting covid if you get on the aircraft. I dont know if i believe it but i do fly and i still, despite my best efforts, have not yet gotten the coronavirus. Neil and may that always be so. I didnt know for you that they had those features on private jets but thats good to know. Thank you, my friend. Reporter southwest, yeah. Neil we just wanted to embarrass you. Youre too quick for me. Jeff flock. I want to go to jonathan hoenig. Forget about flying. Im talking about whats going on in britain right now with those who have been told to quarantine or selfisolate. Normally they are on the honor system. In this country whether they have that done, they will be in their home. In britain they are tracing these folks and leaving it to security there to keep track of you or the police to keep track of you. What do you make of this . This is the first major country to say no, no, besides just highly recommending you do this, we are going to make sure you are. What do you think . Yeah. In fact, and use Police Resources to track you and maybe even fine you anywhere from 1200, you know, translated from pounds, 1200 to 12,000. Look, heres how it works. In england, theres a legal requirement to isolate yourself either if you have tested positive or whether you have come in close contact with somebody whos tested positive. Unfortunately, the truth is, a lot of people simply in the uk arent doing that. Thats why the uk has one of the highest death rates in the civilized world. It also has had one of the biggest impacts on the economy, on their economy, in the civilized world. So this is in effect, its forced compliance. I dont know any other way to put it. The police are being notified on a case by case basis if they come across someone, whether or not they are on the quarantine list, if you will, and if they are, they could be levied those fines and theres a lot of talk this could happen here as well. Neil its easy to track. Think of all the cameras that are rampant in london but almost any major city anywhere on the planet, they can track you if they want, its a little scary, but the flipside is, if you are not honoring that or doing what you should be doing, you are a threat to others but its a slippery slope, right . Yeah. Obviously, you are hitting the two major issues here. Yeah. The technology exists to track people very closely. The flipside is that, you know, why are people such thoughtless monsters, frankly . To consciously be spreading what is still a potentially dangerous and potentially deadly disease . Theres some precedent to that. Im not a legal scholar but for example, in the u. S. , it is a crime to disclose the hiv virus to somebody without disclosing it to them. This is legal scholars will make a lot of whats happening here in terms of civil rights but the fact is that a lot of Police Resources, a lot of Government Resources are being used to track people, to monitor people because of the threat they pose by spreading this virus in america and certainly around the world. Neil yeah. It is a trend. The latest Big Government example but there will be others. This does continue to fester. Jonathan, thank you very much on that. By the way, you know, my staff has been very veryy busy trying to cull through whats what with these numbers on earlier reads of how many would be threatened by the virus. Dr. Deborah birx of course of the president s task force had said earlier that the projections of dr. Anthony fauci that u. S. Deaths could range anywhere from 1. 6 to 2. 2 million was worst Case Scenario at the time and believed back in march when all this started. If the country did nothing to contain the outbreak. But said even if we do things almost perfectly, she was saying back then around the same time doing all the things you had to do with lockdowns and everything else, up to 200,000 u. S. Deaths. We are at 218,000 again, to put it in context. Dr. Fauci and dr. Birx were saying doing nothing, millions of people could be imperilled. Doing this, a lot fewer. Doing this, still more than 200,000 dead. The backandforth continues. Its nasty. Stay with us. Think well make it in time . You may not expect the unexpected, but you can certainly take it all. The lexus es. Wow, this rain is bananas. Now available with awd. Lease the 2021 es 250 awd for 359 a month for 36 months. Experience amazing. At your lexus dealer. During the course of their disease around 50 of people with parkinsons may experience hallucinations or delusions. But now, doctors are prescribing nuplazid. The only fda approved medicine. Proven to significantly reduce hallucinations and delusions related to parkinsons. Dont take nuplazid if you are allergic to its ingredients. Nuplazid can increase the risk of death in elderly people with dementiarelated psychosis and is not for treating symptoms unrelated to parkinsons disease. Nuplazid can cause changes in heart rhythm and should not be taken if you have certain abnormal heart rhythms or take other drugs that are known to cause changes in heart rhythm. Tell your doctor about any changes in medicines youre taking. The most common side effects are swelling of the arms and legs and confusion. We spoke up and it made all the difference. Ask your parkinsons specialist about nuplazid. Neil all right. Early voting beginning today in florida. In fact, its been busy and very crowded, for all the states that kick off with this sort of thing. We are seeing it nationwide. Hillary vaughn taking a look at how it can make things confusing for people going through it. Shes in wisconsin with the very latest. Hey, hillary. Reporter hey, neil. Well, wisconsin is already on track to pass the number of absentee ballots that were turned in in 2016 right now, but were still two weeks away from election day, and wisconsin is a state where a lot of absentee ballots get turned in in person on election day. But there is a challenge before the Supreme Court right now and its trying to extend the deadlines for ballots that show up in the mail up to six days after election day. They want to count those ballots but we talked to m some swing state voters here. They are split on whether or not that is a good idea. Some people dont want to risk their lives i guess right now so i mean, yeah, it lets some people vote. I dont think they should extend it. I think people have had more than enough time to get out and mail in that ballot or walk it in or however and if you havent, well, you snooze, you lose. Reporter Justice Kavanaugh is reviewing the case. A decision should be made on that in a few days but democrats could file more litigation leading up to election day. Thats what happened in april during the primary, when democrats filed seven lawsuits trying to change election laws and that is worrying wisconsins Election Officials. I think the thing that worries me the most is, of course, changes like we saw earlier this year when changes do happen, its always a challenge to communicate those changes to voters and to local Election Officials so Everybody Knows their role. Reporter and neil, they arent just seeing a surge in absentee ballots, but also expecting a surge in inperson voting. There is a poll worker shortage in some places in wisconsin, so officials are looking at calling in the National Guard to assist on election day. Neil . Neil all right, hillary, thank you very much for that update. A busy week in washington, meanwhile, for hearings, of course. The vote this week on judge amy barrett within the judiciary committee, then next day, maybe the full senate. But then there is the social media guys who a lot of republicans now and democrats are saying we want to hold your fannies here, we want to have a nice little talk. Where does that stand . After this. Lets be honest. Quitting smoking is hard. Like, quitting every monday hard. Quitting feels so big. So try making it smaller, and youll be surprised at how easily starting small can lead to something big. Start stopping with nicorette. Neil you know, we still dont know for sure what Hunter Bidens emails, the treasure trove of them reportedly scooped up by the New York Post mean but increasingly, experts are looking into them and know what at least they think they do not mean. Mike emmanuel has more from washington. Reporter good afternoon. Today, the director of National Intelligence took aim at some criticism of this hunter biden alleged email and laptop issue. The Intelligence Community doesnt believe that because theres no intelligence that supports that and we have shared no intelligence with chairman schiff or any other member of congress that Hunter Bidens laptop is part of some russian disinformation campaign. Its simply not true. Reporter ratcliffe responding to an attack by congressman schiff of california, who blames the russians for this story dropping at a critical stage in this president ial campaign. Clearly the origins of this whole smear are from the kremlin and the president is only too happy to have kremlin help in trying to amplify it. Reporter fox news obtained four alleged hunter biden emails, two about his business dealings in ukraine in 2014 and 2015, two about his business interests in china in 2017 and one of those china, mails was verified as being authentic by a source on the email chain. Meanwhile, joe biden was asked about this matter over the weekend and lets just say he did not care for the question. I know you would ask it. I have no response. Its another Smear Campaign right up your alley. Those are the questions you always ask. Reporter the fbi was front and center at the end of the 2016 campaign due to questions about Hillary Clintons emails and her private server. So far the fbi has tried to avoid jumping into the middle of the 2020 campaign. Now prominent republicans are asking what they knew and when they knew it. Neil . Neil all right, thank you very much, Mike Emmanuel in the capitol with all of that. Busy week for the senate yish year compl judiciary committee. Busy week for Congress Taking up the nomination of judge amy coney barrett. It wants to take up a vote whether or not to authorize the subpoena of Facebooks Mark Zuckerberg and jack dorsey of twitter. Jeremy, if they succeed in forcing the issue, then it becomes incumbent upon the ceos to come. Will they . Well, they are coming next week, right . They have already agreed to show up in front of the Senate Commerce committee on wednesday of next week, so they will discuss this issue already. I have to wonder how many times they are going to get called and how many times they are going to say yes, right. They are coming next week because there was threats of subpoenas so they all agreed to come. How many times are they going to come and, you know, eventually they are going to start sending underlings and others and stop bringing ceos. Zuckerberg was there in june to talk about antitrust. He has had several hearings. At what point do they get tired of this and just start sending general counsel or somebody else, right. And blowing it up. Neil you know, jack dorsey has already said that maybe the way they communicated on this New York Post story was wrong, that people can retweet this story if they want. I dont know what moves facebook has made, but the genie is out of the proverbial bottle and this is something republicans are not letting go of. Think about it, you mentioned these other hearings. Those were dominated by democrats who said they had gotten simply too big for their britches and should be held accountable. So im wondering no matter what happens with the election, if these guys are still going to have bulls eyes on them. What do you think . Oh, for sure. For sure. I mean, remember, neil, we were the victim of a mass Misinformation Campaign in 2016 on these platforms, right, and they have never really had to answer to those. We have done stuff on our own but we have not done much to force them to change their ways. They should continue to have to answer to that. I would hope that that is the thing that everybody wants to talk about. How these platforms are used to misinform the American Public and how we can keep that from happening again. Neil you know, normally the sideview might have pleased four years ago, largely conservatives, the influence they had back then versus their anger over using that today. Is the better part of valor for them to get out of the content judging business all together and not police what gets out and trust their readers, viewers, users, to decide for themselves whether a story warrants their attention . Well, they did that. That is exactly pretty much what they did in 2016 and it was flooded with fake news meant to change our election and change what happened. We have already tried that. It hasnt worked. And now, you know [ speaking simultaneously ] neil they have an inherent bias, thats the concern, right . You think they have a bias . I think they have a bias to not getting sued, not getting in trouble, and not having their platforms used in this way, right. And the response from a lot of people is to amend section 230 or get rid of section 230, that would just cause them to edit this content even more, right. If they dont have protection from lawsuits for stuff thats put on there, they will block even more content from coming out. So that is thats kind of what theyre talking about next week in the commerce hearing, section 230, and so i dont see that as an avenue, either. Neil okay. Jeremy, we will see what laps happens.
