Minutes of trading. President trump about to address supporters at a Campaign Rally in california which is about four hours north from where we are in miami, his opponent joe biden is in another battleground state pitching the Healthcare Plan to voters in michigan. We have fox Business Team coverage of her top stories with blake burman standing by the white house, we start today with jacqui deangelis and the new york newsroom as we wrap up with a volatile week on wall street. Good afternoon connell, two out of three bad of what weve seen weve seen three Straight Days of losses for the dow was positive for the week and you mention the retail sales, t 2 jump, the optimism was important because it speaks to the consumer, also you have vaccine optimism weighing over the stimulus pessimism in the dow roughly 3 below its record closing high back in february, its pretty remarkable when you think about that. Today was industrial stock, the healthcare stock that led the way were so used to focusing on technology but that was not the gain, unitedhealth, boeing, caterpillar, honeywell, 3m they were counting for the bulk of the dows gain on the session, on the vaccine front it was pfizer saying they will apply for emergency use as early as november, after the election this after this week j j in eli lilly have suppressed pause on their trials because of safety concern, the fda is seeking two months of data on safety before its going to authorize the emergency use. Connell we will talk more about that later in the show, blake burman at the white house for an update on the stimulus talk, i know some of the biggest names in the financial world are now weighing in apparently that vote behind me is just getting in, what is the latest . Seven years of doing live shots ive had a few of those behind me, enjoy the scenery, back over here rather at the white house we watch the president and the final sprint down the campaign stretch that the Trump Campaign has been talking about, he started off in fort myers speaking before Senior Citizens, the president announced a deal that would lead to walgreens and cvs providing the covid19 vaccine, whenever that may come to Nursing Homes for free, next up moments from now we anticipate see the president in ocala up the road on i75, after that he will be in georgia, a state that the president one by hampel in 2016, republicans have won the last seven elections a polling shows that the tight race in georgia the president will campaign their this evening. Last night during the dueling townhouse, the president said as it relates to the covid19 package front that if Steven Mnuchin nancy pelosi are able to hammer out a deal that Senate Republicans will eventually come along, larry kudlow speaking with Stuart Varney back the president on that possibility. The president wants a deal, mnuchin is negotiating a deal, Speaker Pelosi wanted to deal i think we could round up enough Senate Republicans to get a deal. However, that does not align with what Mitch Mcconnell has said, he is planning to put a package on the senate floor next week less than a third of that amount, 500 billion and we learn today this afternoon that the u. S. Budget deficit for fiscal year 2020 was 3. 1 trillion, double the highest it has ever been and that will likely add some fuel to the conservatives to say we do not need to be spending any more money and likely make it a little bit more difficult with the vote matrix of how the white house and republicans are purchasing going forward. Connell blake bourbon on the north lawn, certainly not a member of congress but influenced voice, when you think about that when he had the deficit numbers when maybe we should focus on more than we do in the effect that that might have on the discussions that are going at least three different ways between the speaker, the majority leader in the white house. We all knew when covid shut down the economy which was like a wartime economy, we would have massive deficits, what is amazing how well the economy has done, the retail sales were up, every sector was up 4 above what it was in february and 5 what it was a year ago, the economy is getting back on its feet and that should be the focus, the deficit will only handle when you have a vibrant economy, thats when the stimulus talks are important, is not just the number, 1. 8 trillion or 2. 2, or pick a number its whats in the package, will it encourage work, will there be one that will not be allowed the mismanagement of states, with the b1 for example gives people a payroll tax relief, if it has positive in there, the numbers do not matter in the economy will be helped be be. Connell a lot of people were predicting thats maybe why the retail sales were so surprising, by the time we got to september we would see a slowdown with the consumer because the people they worked for were running out of the government help that they got the first time around and would have to resort to layoffs and if you look at the president s rally will talk more in a minute as air force one arrived in ocala florida. Im not sure it changes the story, maybe at the laser where the concerns about layoffs and a slowdown are pushed out a couple of months if we dont get stimulus, what do you think . The key thing, fo for example will they do more to remove restrictions to small businesses, the Treasury Department putting crazy restrictions tied primarily to sales, they couldnt change then chose not to do so, Federal Reserve has a program called the Mainstreet Lending Program which is been very slow to get off the ground because of a lot of regulations in terms of getting the loans, if the ease up those kinds of things to get relief out to businesses that can use help to get ahead and we should not underestimate how the division between red states and blue states, red states that have been opening up, much more Economic Activity by contrast you look at new jersey, new york, illinois where they have been very slow to open up, much higher unemployment, its a tale of two sets of states, one that is opening up in another one that has been very slow, we should be focusing on responsibly opening up in florida has shown the way and other states have shown the way and then you can get a good vibrant economy and no reason why we cant get a positive package, it matters what they put in their and i hope they keep out the junk like bailing out the Kennedy Center and stuff like that and focus on whats going to get the economy, im really disappointed they have not focused on a payroll tax holiday with workers and employers lowering the cost of labor and instantly giving people 3 4 5 annual raise in pay. Connell we talked about it with you so many times but not necessarily part of the current conversation, i know you said a number of times is not necessarily about the overall number, that said as we wait for the president to make his way down the steps of air force one that he may walk over to the rally it looks like is very close to the airport in ocala, there is some sort of political backandforth on the republican side between the president who keep saying things like lets go big on this in the majority leader Mitch Mcconnell who is not only saying no but it sounds like you sam i dont have the votes for that, my caucus is not going to do that, what side of that particular inside the Republican Party argument do you come down on and how do you think that will play out before the election . It depends on the details, there is a worry among some of the senators about the size of the package and thats what mcconnell is worried about because he tries to keep his caucus united but if the president in nancy pelosi reach an agreement or minute it reaches agreement on behalf of the president that would pass the house and the senate and the key thing is, if you have good things in there that truly help people in need, thats why i would go above the 1200 check for individuals and make it 150t distort the labor market to get people cash to pay the bills, you do Something Like that and other positive things then we can get through this and let the economy take its own course in a very positive way, again what will slow things in the Fourth Quarter is uncertainty about what kind of environment are we going to have in january will it be a benign economic environment or a terrible one that we had that ended four years ago and may come back in january, high taxes, high regulation that will put a damper no matter how much money they spend it how much of Federal Reserve printed. Connell thank you as always, have a great weekend, steve forbes, lets get the focus back to florida for a moment as you been watching President Trump and air force one touching moments ago in ocala for the Campaign Rally, lets take you there, fox news correspondent matt is on the scene, waiting for the president to come in and things to get started. Ocala florida about an hour north of orlando were in Marion County the county the president won a major victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016 he defeated her by more than 30 points, the president is back here in Central Florida for the 2020 election, he will rely on this county to win the critical state of florida and i believe the governor is speaking over my shoulder, there are thousands and thousands of people that i waited in the hot fortis on for hours, a very energized crowd as usual. The president here today, we expect to talk about gun rights, about the economy, we talk to people a short while ago, we asked them what is the most important issue in the 2020 election and heres what they told us. Guns. At the latino i been able to realize i have two business, his economy is help me pushing it my business is open, he cares about the entrepreneurs and people like us. Our issue is the media how they constantly try to get him to condemn White Supremacy when the guy has gone on record so many times condemning White Supremacy. This rally is the second of three stops in florida today, he woke up and around and traveled to fort myers where he spoke to Senior Citizens a focus on healthcare and other president is scheduled to hold a make America Great again rally in oklahoma, we talk to people waiting in the sun and they said they were asked to get the temperature checked and asked to bring a mask and some people wearing masks, the present after this rally is scheduled to fly for another event in georgia. Connell matt on the scene air force one has landed in the president starting shortly, we will keep an eye on the campaign trail. In the meantime taking aim at social media, we talk to congressman behind a bill that would force Big Tech Companies to change up the user agreement or risk being sued by americans were targeted by censorship, plus panic buying is back, consumer stocking up on certain grocery items and the impact across supermarkets across the nation, new trend to the pandemic, why colleges are letting go of standardized testing as an admission requirement. Stick around much more to come from here in miami. Some things are good to know. Like where to find the cheapest gas in town and which supermarket gives you the most bang for your buck. Republican senators raising concerns over big tech, Senate Judiciary Committee Plans of up for next week to subpoena the twitter Ceo Jack Dorsey after his company from sharing the New York Post article after about hunter biden. Edward lawrence continues to follow the story joins us from washington. This could be the big move leading to a turning point, giant like twitter, facebook, google now showing how the companies can shape what we see and how many of us see it, on tuesday the Senate Judiciary committee will vote to subpoena twitter Ceo Jack Dorsey and possibly Facebook Mark zuckerberg for hearing on friday, republican senators want them to answer why a New York Post of joe biden and his son hunters business dealings was limited and outright blocked in twitter, dorsey trying to lessen the outrage from twitter tweeting today straight blocking of the urls was wrong and we updated our policy enforcement to fix our goal is attempt to add context and now we have the capable need to do that. Twitter has changed its rules associated with hacked materials, the New York Post story on ukrainian connection to the biden family can now be shared, i did it for my twitter account today, the one about chinese connections to the family is still blocked, its not enough for president Trump Campaign advisors. They are being very selective as to what they are deciding as to which content to approve or fact check or not and obviously when it comes to the New York Post its a reputable paper with twitter that endowed up deciding they were going to have to fact check it and not allow for any of our accounts to share this information, its a double standard. This might be the straw that prompts the change to the immunity that the social companies enjoy. Im glad were gonna subpoena jack dorsey, these big tech oligarchs need to answer further censorship for repai conservatie republican voices, this is been going on for years and this week they declared open war on Republican Party and conservatives across america and it is simple, one jurist coming. The winter comes in the form and possible changes to immunity under the section 230 the Communications Decency act, this could mean a big change. Back to you. Connell it would be big, we are going to talk more about it, the republican congressman joins us from the state of North Carolina the House Freedom caucus in the Financial Service committee and the reason he is on today he has his own bill to limit big tech censorship, we just heard from senator cotton hes probably heard there in a soundbite, i know this is a companion bill but tell us about your bill on the house side . Absolutely thinking for having us, this is for section 230 the Communications Decency act of 1996, are they platform or publisher, they have been given rights as a publisher or platform but the acting like a publisher but there selecting what viewers can and cannot see, we want them to update their user agreement or else they lose those protections. Connell what type of an update would you be looking for, the reason that protection is in place, to keep out or keep up the platform is indecent material of some sort in twitter or facebook can decide what that is and edward just reported because of the New York Post story with conservatives like yourself, that is political censorship, where is the line or is there one what would you like to see happen. We can certainly update that, what we are seeing they are specifically targeting conservatives and is been unfair for too long and we need to make sure that stories like this the American People need to know about hunter biden and joe biden in the corruption with ukraine and china need to come out, they cannot censor this because they think it favors democrats and they have been doing that, we can come out with it, we want to make sure it is there for all involved and it should not be on politics but if they are a platform and not a publisher then we need to let all voices have a share. Connell it is about politics because of the story and its getting so much attention all the republicans on the senate side of the bill is at the same in the house and is there a bipartisan talk about this, i know this story is leaning in one direction, any discussion with democrats about this issue at all or all onesided . When it comes to section 230, udc republicans and democrats in the house and the senate wanting to have conversations on this, i think ultimately it could be a bipartisan issue, that may need to be on november 4 or beyond but right now its fairly partisan, there are pressing conservative stories and we just take the American People need to know the truth about joe biden and know the truth of all candidates, and somebody is technically a platform needs to pick and choose between candidates. Connell was his bill inspired by that story or were you working on this already . This is been brewing for two years, we have really been digging in to the cda section 230 and we have the new technologies that were not there 1996 in the early days of the internet when the bill was written, now they are using their platform ability to be publishers, we have to be able to clarify this and it needs to start with what my bill does, that is dealing with the user agreement which is currently right now being used for silence conservatives worldviews. Connell final thing on a broader sense, the election is coming up in a few weeks, what impact might that have on the Big Tech Companies in terms of legislation next year if the republicans have more control to the Tech Companies need to be worried about antitrust and other issues, how do you see this playing out over the number of years or the next congressional term. As of right now i dont know if antitrust is the issue, i think the issue deals with cba 230 and are they a publisher or platform and lets make sure they dont get the benefit while actually being the other which is what they doing, they want to have their cake and eat it too and we need them to choose, we need americans to see all stories and decide for themselves, you cant yell fire in a theater, theres going to have to be something that applies to the situation but we need to keep the section protection if they decide to be a true platform and not a publisher the edits out what americans can and cannot see. Connell we will follow this legislation on your bill and now that Senate Companion bill as i mentioned earlier is a real big issue, congressman thank you. Connell fox business alert on the Campaign Trial with joe biden, the former Vice President speaking there about his health care plan, here are some comments he made just a few moments ago. Americans with our reading without health insurance, if trump gets his way, 20 million more americans will lose their healthcare. Its a god awful, amidst the godawful economic crisis. Connell biden blasted the president for his handling of the president in those remarks, we have another alert for you right now to go back to the president , we showed pictures of ocala fulleocala, florida it top a little while to get nobodys on the move greeting supporters and walking up onto the stage, that is a rally, president ial rally, Campaign Rally about to begin ocala, florida, we will keep an eye on both of those events, he will be in georgia later this evening. Getting ready for winter like no other, new survey out says more than half of americans are stockpiling or maybe already stockpiled food and other essential supplies anticipating another surging coronavirus cases and some say theyre worried about unrest tied to the election, Grady Trimble is live at the happy food supermarket in chicago reporting on all of this is. The good news is that happy foods, their restocking the shelves, the bad news, it is slim pickens for a lot of items, that is because 50 of people say they are stockpiling or plan to stockpile, as you said people are worried about a resurgence in coronavirus cases that is according to a survey done by sports and Leisure Research group, the owner here barbara, youve got the list from your distributor, they basically said these are the items we will be able to get you in the items that are popular right now and were not going to be able to get to you until 2214 5 months from now and what types of products are people going to have a hard time finding. Lysol, disinfectants, any kind of disinfectant, paper towels on allocation if we can get them, bathroom tissue is coming in sporadically, allocation, theyre not in full production. Perishable items, canned goods, Peanut Butter products, this is kind of reminiscent of what we saw at the start of the pandemic, the big question from your perspective as someone who is on the ground at the store every day, are we going to see another round of that like we saw in march . I do believe so and people are buying ahead and planning ahead, its awkward to be outrageous as it was but it still going to happen. Hopefully we learn to share in march and we can carry that lesson over into the colder months and we reached out to the big box stores, target tells us they are going to send more inventory than they ever have before to their stories to make sure the in demand items are available even as the temperatures cool down. Connell there you go, hopefully we learned a little more from earlier this year. As for the virus itself, we have ten states reporting a Record Number of new covid19 cases, that pushes the country single day total above 60000 and thats the first time thats happened in more than two months, we will talk to doctor mark about the spikes but also about the vaccine announcement from pfizer we mentioned earlier, he is coming up next, High School Senior applying to selective colleges, and admission process this year, this changes could be here to stay, hoping more reluctant customers back to the big screen, amc theaters will allow gatherings of 20 people to rent out an entire screen for private showing its available at select locations across the country and the prices start at 99. Connell heres a fox business alert from the state of california which says President Trump has indeed approved the request for a major disaster declaration to support the states response to the september wildfires, the governor california gavin newsom saying i just got off the phone with President Trump who approved our request, grateful for his quick response, it is interesting this comes after report earlier in the day that the white house had rejected the california request, partly not the case, has been approved and we just heard about it from the governor, raising money for a good cause in california, wine country was hit so hard by the recent wildfires, one owner in the area is launching a fundraiser to try to support all of those who are affected in Katharine Hall joins us, the owner there, it is good to see you. I know so many people in your line of work were hit so hard by this, toils what you are doing. Thank you, im glad you have this on so i tell the story, its been devastating here in napa valley with the effects of the fire. So we are starting a fundraiser and we will be on Facebook Live at 4 00 oclock pacific time with members of our local fire department, these are local heroes and we are partnering with the credit union which serves napa and Sonoma Valleys to raise money, reporting 2017 when we were able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for our community and again, i like working with them because 100 that is given go straight to the victims in the ministry of causes we are collecting and giving out the funds are taken over by the Redwood Credit Union which support so many other wonderful organizations and on top of that we match dollar for dollar every contribution that comes in in the credit union is going to do the same, from folks that will donate 1 dollar, 3 will go into the community and we have such a devastating loss throughout our valley is great to be able to do this and want to talk to you about it. Connell lets talk about that and what its like out there, sounds like everybody has a time change around the country about two and half hours that you will have the happy hour the people want to make out and raise some money, the disaster declaration in the state of california, a lot of stories about this and how it impacted and the like, just in the napa valley what is it like right now . There has been devastating loss, we have lost hotels, we have lost landmarks, wineries and this does not impact the businesses, it impacts all the employees who work there, it is really widespread and i must say coming on the heels of covid which has been difficult for the economy as a whole and hitter industry hard, it is tough, at the same time we are all very resilient, we are farmers and used to dealing with mother nature, we are doing okay, we are going to make it but there is some tough times between now and then. Connell is so true that you dont like things like this before but worse than many other fires were fire season and also put the virus on top of that, any sense on timing when your own industry might be able to bounce back, hopefully fundraisers like the one you are running will help with that and speed up the process, but how long does it take to rebuild essentially. I think the true season for this year has been an reparable he damaged, we in most of her colleagues and Sonoma Valley and napa valley are open for business, we are shipping wine from the winery to consumers about the United States and on top of that were seen visitors who come in the area and i gotta tell you its beautiful and napa valley, the sky is blue, clear and we are very excited to welcome guests, if they are considering it to the wine country they will come visit us and come visit us all in napa valley. Connell holy people could check that out on facebook, beautiful Katharine Hall, type it into facebook and look up her winery and then you can join there at 7 00 oclock eastern or for crop pacific, good luck with everything. Thank you very much. Connell youre welcome, an uptick in trouble, the tsa screening 984 passengers last sunday, that is actually the highest single day amount since april, although travel is up it is certainly still down compared to the previous year, the average last year was 2 million passengers per day, well be right back. Connell welcome back to miami where we have a pretty good south florida and the thunderstorm going on behind us but we move on to talk about big news today under the Drugmaker Pfizer says you can apply for fda emergency use for covid19 by late november depending on the pulmonary test results, the policy director for health. We are try to get through a few issues on this on pfizer, thats a pretty good thunder. Connell how big of a deal what pfizer said on timing late november a lot of people making a big deal that is past the election, what happens after that, what are the next steps and how may it play out after november if this indeed is the timing. I think this is big news for people that are been watching Vaccine Development closely, pfizer has the Clinical Trials underway, they will be checking along the way to see if they accumulate event infection, the data safety monitoring or the independent experts will be watching to see if theres a difference thats emerge betwe between, we are expecting the next big look will come maybe at the end of this month and it means a submission on time in november, the vaccine has been on a trajectory for late this year approval first round at best and thats if they show in effect, we just dont know quite yet. Connell we are going to watch that and theres so Many Companies mondragon on down, i want to ask about the remdesivir, it was strange with gilead sciences, that has been a treatment people been talking about since the president s diagnosis and then regeneron, remdesivir out of the World Health Organization concluding a has little or no impact on the patients chances of surviving covid and gilead as well, this is not based on evidence and its been inconsistent with the finding, backandforth or people tried to figure out whats going on, do you have any thoughts on remdesivir, the treatment and what people should think about it. Sure, the study that was reported by the World Health Organization was a welldesigned very large study and i think you confirmed what we knew was remdesivir at most was going to survive modest help for people who are seriously ill and its possible since that study was focused on thicker patient, its possible it could have a bigger effect earlier on and its also possible remdesivir has modest and nobody ever expected remdesivir was going to be home run, it would be good if we could get some more evidence on whether theres those who are early on in their infection or certain types, there is a bigger benefit but again its never been expected to be a large impact on survival on remdesivir. Connell the virus overall, let me talk about the latest numbers, the leade latest numbe8 different states, the surface thats a lot of states going the wrong direction, sometimes the headlines talk about people who are in favor of opening up, here in florida when it is not raining, they have been in favor of opening up and theyve done so aggressively and they will say that does not tell the whole picture, its not just cases, it is treatment, what is your perspective on what we should focus on, cases, treatment a little bit of both and where are we right now. We should be focused on both, cases are unquestionably going up across the country, people have been worried about another wave coming in the fall, winter, that seems to be happening and it means we need to keep taking the precaution that we know work, distance, masks, washing hands, hopefully thisll be the last one and hopefully we can get a handle on the continued spread and its true that theyre Getting Better but theyre not there yet, treatment like the vaccine coming probably will have an impact early next year and on through 2021 and other promising treatment like the monotone all antibody may start to be available soon but they have not had an impact yet, i hope with those steps and more access to diagnostic test, this will be the last big wave but were at significant risk for the outbreak becoming much larger so will keep doing what we know works. Connell it is something to worry about and keep an eye on but you always give us a great perspective and you have throughout the pandemic, formerly of the fda, good to see you again. Stay dry. Connell were covered but it never drills in florida, thats what i noticed. In a moment the need for a high sat score, kids talk about all the time, its becoming a thing of the past we will talk about how the pendulum is changing the college admissions. We will do that next. Program announcement from Charles Payne he will lead a panel of fox business all store for a virtual town hall, if you have a question on anything from businesses reopening to the real estate boom, email a video of yourself, the email address invested in you at foxbusiness.
