Spent much of last weekend that his chances for survival were not that good. Given the president s age and his preexisting illnesses, hes going to be at increased risk. We are living a nightmare, and coronavirus is now in the white house. He is still quite ill. We know that during the course of this illness a patient can feel just fine and suddenly take a turn for the worse. Gerry you can almost hear the anticipation, the excitement and the anticipation. So imagine their horror when he returned to work on monday, apparently at least seemingly on the mend. And so, of course, the outrage poured forth when trump, characteristically dramatic style mounted the steps of the white house and removed his mask. Well, weve seen many fine examples of trump derangement syndrome, but this weeks might have been among the most insane. The whole performance brought forth condemnation from the media almost as though hed inviewedded toland. Take a look at this tweet that one filmmaker posted of a video that what mr. Trumped had just done was a direct homage to adolf hitler. They parallelled images showing the plane in the air and mr. Trump waving. Yes, thats right, apparently no leader s ever stepped off a plane or helicopter and waved to the people. You really just cant make it up. Well, were three weeks out from polling day now, and the hysteria shows no sign of abating. The media continues to portray the election as a contest between a Reckless Trump Administration bent on destroying american democracy and the calm, moderate decency of joe biden and kamala harris. But on wednesday in the Vice President ial debate, we did get a better look. Senator harris certainly landed some blows on the administrations weakest spot, its handling of the coronavirus. The American People have witnessed what is the greatest failure of any president ial administration in the history of our country. 210,000 dead people in our country in just the last several months. They minimized the seriousness of it. Gerry some serious charges there, but Vice President pence took the opportunity to repeatedly point out the inconsistencies, the many inconsistencies in the democratic tickets proposals on everything from energy to the economy. And once again, remarkably the democratic candidate declined to say whether she would support the most dramatic upheaval of the Constitutional Order in 150 years. Their plan, the plan of some democrats to pack the Supreme Court by adding members to it. You and joe biden going to pack the court if judge Amy Coney Barrett is confirmed . The American People are voting right now, and it should be their decision. Theyd like to know if you and joe biden are going to pack the Supreme Court if you dont get your way in this nomination. Gerry of course, much of the media seemed to much prefer to obsess about the fly that landed on Vice President pences head. Joe biden said he only would tell us his position the day after the election. He wants to know where the candidate stands on the biggest constitutional change in more than a century, too bad. Hes just not going to tell you. Now, its not clear when or where well have the chance to see the candidates grilled on these issues. On thursday the president said he wouldnt take part in the next president ial debate planned for next week after the organizers said it would be a Virtual Event to aa void risk of the spread of the virus. Hes since agreed to doing an inperson debate on the 22nd. Where does the race go from here . With me to discuss is Fox News Contributor tammy bruce. Tammy, thank you very much, for joining me. My pleasure. An honor. Your roundup was excellent. Gerry thank you. The media couldnt seem to make up its mind whether it was more outraged President Trump got sick or that he hadnt actually gotten sicker and, of course, in the view of some of them, perhaps die. So they did obsess about this topic, and then we had the debate between the two Vice President ial candidates. Obviously, the president and the administration is criticized for its handling of the virus. How are they going to be able to deal with that visit schism . Theyve been criticism, that theyve been reckless, and that it represents in the some way an indictment of their broader approach to handling coronavirus . Well, we know that that is the narrative. We know that thats what the democrats are relying on. And this becomes a communication issue. And you saw Vice President pence deliver that information, reminding people about the nature of whos responsible for this virus. Of course, its china. A reminder about who was taking action, the very first action, which was the president. He was criticized for it, called a racist, of course, when he instituted the travel ban from china in late january. And what was going on in january, february that was discuss tracting the congress . The impeachment of the president. Also Democratic Leaders right after that were telling people its okay to come. You know, go and party. Have a good time. Both nancy pelosi and a Health Commissioner here in new york were telling people, come out and enjoy the chinese new year. Gather, its fine. And, of course, we know that that was not true. But they were focused on impeachment. And i think that what the president will have to do, what his campaign will have to do and its worth also just the basic white house with Governance Framework to remind the American People what has been done and how different now the situation is. The president s recovery is an indication of that. And when you look at the accusations against do the president against the president , that he caused this himself, hes responsible for his illness, what do you think that says to the 7 million americans who also got sick . People are following the rules, but this is a virus, and its going to do its thing. But i think that theyve accomplished so much, and the president s recovery indicates now what therapeutics can do, and thats due to the focus of his administration. Gerry were just a few weeks away from the election are. The democrats are trying to run out the clock. Theyre not going to answer this fundamental question about whether or not theyll pack the Supreme Court, theyre not really going to theyre going to keep making these inconsistencies about the Green New Deal and what they plan for the economy and everything else. Can they, will they be allowed to get away with that for the next three weeks where they dont answer these fundamental questions . Oh, they can do whatever they want, you know . And people will make a reference to what they appreciated on november 3rd. Its a word salad right now. Its like the game that you have on your refrigerator, a bunch of words that are magnetic, and then you just put them together in some kind of a sentence, none of which makes sense. And the biden response, well, youve got to elect me before im going to tell you where i stand here. Its very reminiscent of Nancy Pelosis comical response to obamacare which is weve got to pass the bill before you find out whats in it. Americans are this is why trump is president. Americans are tired of this kind of manipulation. Americans want solutions on the issues. And that is a major issue. And, of course, they wont answer it. They wont answer any of them, but that was hillarys mistake as well. Youll recall, of course, she also wanted to run out the clock because she was so far ahead. And what the mistake that the democrats make and the media is underestimate thing the average american. Underestimating donald trump and his team. And they think, well, this is a done deal because they also have contempt for what the American People can absorb, how were viewing this. And the thing that i would suggest is the indicator of this is, in fact, Camilla Kamala harris. The senate i vis ration of thenjudge kavanaugh led by harris was rejected by the American People when they gave the repalins wider republicans wider control of the senate after the midterm. A midterm, in fact, that was very good in every other aspect for the democrat, but not in the senate. And that was a statement. We dont like what youre doing, and we want the republicans gerry tammy, weve got to wrap, but very quickly, weve got the hearings next week for President Trumps Supreme Court nominee, Amy Coney Barrett. Very quickly, just in a few seconds, how is that going the impact the election . I think that its not, not much. Its already baked in. The American People like her. She will be confirmed, and it is a part of him completing his promise to the country and what he ran on. So i think its baked in. Think the president s going to be reelected, and this will be a good moment for america, her confirmation. Gerry thanks to tammy bruce. Thousands of Health Experts are warning that lockdowns are doing more harm than good. My next guest is one of them. Stay with us. She wanted a roommate to help with the cooking. But she wanted someone who loves cats. So, we got griswalda. Dinners almost ready. But one thing we could both agree on was getting geico to help with our renters insurance. Yeah, switching and saving was really easy drink it all up. Good could have used a little salt. Visit geico. Com and see how easy saving on renters insurance can be. Were talking about people who have been through so much, businesses that have struggled to survive. This will not be easy at all for families who depend on their livelihoods, but its something that we believe is necessary to keep this city from going backwards towards where we were months ago. Gerry thats new york city mayor bill de blasio imposing new lockdowns in key areas of his city amid a rise in covid cases. Theres a widespread belief that we should all be exercising maximum caution in the fight against the virus. To many, locking down the economy until we have a vaccine. But lockdowns have done enormous damage to the economy. Further restrictions could be devastating. This week a group of more than 3,000 doctors, scientists and others called for a new approach. In the socalled Great Barrington declaration, they explained how lockdowns were doing damage to the economy and to Public Health. One of the leading signatories was a professor of medicine at the harvard medical school, and he joins me now. Professor, thank you very much for being here. Thank you. Gerry let me just try and understand what youre saying in this declaration. You make the point that its not just that the lockdowns are not just doing economic damage, but significant damage to Public Health and other areas. Can you explain what you mean by that . Yeah. One of the goals of Public Health is that you cant can just look at one disease. You have to look at it as a whole. So with the lockdown, we have worse outcome for cardiovascular disease, plummeting immunization rates for child, we have cancer screenings that are not occurring now, so somebody might if die from Cervical Cancer three to four years from now rather than living 1520 years. So those are things that are also very important for Public Health. Gerry im sorry, is it, is it going too far to say the lockdown cure is worse than the disease . Yes. Gerry it is worse than the disease, lockdown is causing more sickness and death, ultimately, than the disease itself . Yeah. But also the lockdown is not good for covid19 either because what were doing is were pushing it forward. And to do nothing would be wrong because if you do nothing, you get some old people and some young people getting sick. If you get a lockdown and protect people equally, you will still have some old people and some young people get sick, but you push it into the future. In both cases you have a high mortality, but instead if you protect the elderly and other high risk groups, you can do as well as you can while you let children and young adults live their lives, more or less normally, going to school for inperson teaching and inperson universities, every young professional working from the office as well as at home, then youre going to minimize the mortality in the long term. Gerry its hard to do what youre proposing because, in the end, young people will interact with their grandparents, with older people, the sort of hiving off, cordoning off one section of society is just not really possible, and thats why we had the lockdowns in the first place. Can you do that . Well, you cant do it 100 , but you can do it to a large extenter. But lockdown extent. But lockdown is actually worse was right now with the lockdown, the older people have to selfisolate and protect themselves for maybe six months or a year or more than a year. If you do the focused protection that we advocate in the declaration, thats the amount of time that the older people have to be cautious. Its shorter. Easier for them to protect themselves. Gerry just very quickly, professor, weve heard about herd immunity, and the objectivity is to get as quickly as possible. Do you have any strong sense, very quickly, if you will, what level of the population would represent herd immunity . No respectabled would give you a number for that. Gerry people have talked about 50, 60 . You dont think its as high as that or is it . I dont know. Thats honest answer. Somebody who tells you number, theyre not giving you appropriate information. We we dont know. Gerry thank you very much, indeed, professor. Coming up, coronavirus is dictating the economy. Will we see a stimulus deal pass before election day . Thats next. Look limu someone out there needs help customizing their Car Insurance with liberty mutual, so they only pay for what they need. False alarm. Only pay for what you need. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. The rx crafted by lexus. Lease the 2020 rx350 for 409 a month for 36 months. Experience amazing at your lexus dealer. Before discovering nexium 24hr to treat her frequent heartburn, marie could only imagine enjoying freshly squeezed orange juice. Now no fruit is forbidden. Nexium 24hr stops acid before it starts for allday, allnight protection. Can you imagine 24 hours without heartburn . Gerry covid continues to. Com admit the economic outlook. The trajectory is still uncertain as winter approaches and the risks of further lockdown rises. President trump said this week he was calling off negotiations with democrats over more stimulus measures, although he seemed to contradict himself the next day. Stocks fell after the president s rejection of further talks but then rose again, and all the time market Interest Rates have been rising steadily. Some believe theres rising optimism about a biden presidency and the possibility of a big democratic stimulus. Is that right . What is going on . Here to discuss is bny mellon managing director thanks for joining me. Hi, gerry. Great to see you again. Gerry markets are always volatile, but there does seem to be an underpinning of confidence and optimism which is keeping stocks at a relatively elevated level. Whats going on . Right now theres a bit of a myopic focus on stimulus and whether that comes in the next week or two or whether it comes in the Third Quarter of 2021. The market is fairly certain were getting something in the order of 1. 52 trillion which is an additional 10 of u. S. Gdp. So the market sees stimulus either way and, ultimately, doesnt quite believe we wont get it before the election simply because it is in the interest of every party to pass something before the election. So either way, were getting it. And thats what were pricing in here. Gerry and do you think theres been talk this week, again, as the opinion polls seem to be pointing at least so far to perhaps a clear biden win and democratic control of the house and the senate too, that theres some suggestion thats good news because it removes uncertainty, but also they are going to enact a big stimulus, do you think thats participant of whats going on . I think that is part of whats going on. What weve seen in the markets, and i do like using the betting markets. If you recall in 2016, the betting markets correct hi called the outcome of the brexit vote and also the u. S. Election. And here the betting markets are telling us invest last ten days theres actually been a blowout in terms of the probability of a democratic sweep, meaning that the senate also turns democratic. Why does that matter . Because it means were probably getting an enormous stimulus somewhere in the first quarter. It also means that it may reduce one of the risks to the market which is that we dont know who the winner is the night of november 3rd. To the extent that we have a lopsided victory, thats less likely to happen. And, ultimately, clarity is always good for markets regard he is of outcomes. Gerry as well as a stimulus, of course, the biden team the Biden Economic plan does call for significant tax increases; increases on corporations, on higher earning individuals, everybody earning over 400,000. Is that not a concern that those tax increases especially the Corporate Tax increases could actually really weigh down on corporate earnings . Yeah. So i do think at some point theres going to be some Market Reaction to that because, after all, if theres anything close to a law in economics, its if you tax something, you get less of it. If you tax capital, youll get less of it. And so we should expect something on the order of 2 trillion in increased taxes coming at the u. S. Economy whether its in the increased Corporate Tax rate, increased individual rate, increased Capital Gains taxes or increased taxes on dividends. Its hard for me to believe that the markets not going to react at some point. The issue is a oneday thing, a few week thing. I think, ultimately, we see volatility, but ultimately the direction of travel upward here. Gerry very quickly, alicia, just finally, we already have debt of, total federal debt 100 of gdp, another big stimulus coming. Is there actually no limit to how much money the government can keep pumping into the economy, if you would . Very quickly, the answer is with such low rates for as long as the eye can see, neither republicans or democrats are much worried about debt right now, and ultimately, we have the larger issue which is the shortterm issue of getting the unemployed workers through this and to support the u. S. Economy. So, yes, we will be writing more debt. Gerri my thanks to alicia levine. But now, doctors are prescribing nuplazid. The only fda approved medicine. Proven to significantly reduce hallucinations and delusions related to parkinsons. Dont take nuplazid if you are allergic to its ingredients. Nuplazid can increase the risk of death in elderly people with dementiarelated psychosis and is not for treating symptoms unrelated to parkinsons disease. Nuplazid can cause changes in heart rhythm and should not be taken if you have certain abnormal heart rhythms or take other drugs that are known to cause changes in heart rhythm.
