The postmaster general on hot seat louis dejoy expected on capitol hill to answer questions amid accusations that the Trump Administration is trying to make changes at the Postal Service in an effort to hinder mailin voting. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rejecting a proposal to extend enhanced Unemployment Benefits with a smaller bill, skinny bill they were calling it. Pelosi spoke to pbs, now is not the time time to pass bill because it affects other key priorities. House democrats calling on Party Leaders to reinstate 600dollar benefit until covid pandemic comes to an end. Joe biden officially accepting the democratic nomination for president last night. The former Vice President vowed to leave the country out of, quote, season of darkness, ready to take on President Trump in november. Hillary vaughn live in wilmington, delaware this morning where biden wrapped up the dnc last night. Hillary, good morning to you. Good morning, after 4 days of making case on trumps economy, joe biden pitching himself as unifier to overcome season of darkness and also blaming President Trump for not con taping a virus that he says has destroyed the u. S. Economy saying the president is waiting for a miracle while biden says he has the answers. We will never get the economy back on track, we will never get our kids safely back in schools, we will never have our lives back until we deal with this virus. Biden pitched practical fix to reboost economy and nationwide mask mandate and making ppe right here in the u. S. But some of the things are already happening in some capacity, state and local authorities issuing mask requirements and 3m and smaller manufacturers adapting to meet demand. Biden made it clear while shortterm promises to get the economy back on track are practical, his longterm Economic Vision is much more progressive. We dont need a tax code that rewards wealth more than it rewards work. Im not looking to punish anyone, far from it but its long past time the wealthiest people and the biggest corporations in this country pay their fair share. Reporter last night finale was different than anything that we have seen in modern political history, biden had Live Audience sitting in their cars outside of the convention center, socially distanced, taking in the scene like a drivein Movie Theater at the end of bidens speech he walked out here in this parking lot to honking and cheering, only Live Audience element that we saw, maria. Maria that is really interesting, like a outdoor Movie Theater, hillary, great stuff. Thanks very much. Hillary vaughn in wilmington, s p 500 hitting new record high. S p futures currently add to go that with gain on session of 11 points higher on the nasdaq, 13 points higher on the dow and s p also higher, the nasdaq on a roll posting 35th record close yesterday. The Trust Company ahead of Investment Strategy hank smith and also joining the conversation columnist for the hill liz peek and Editorial Page EditorJames Freeman, great to see you, hank, let me kick it off with you, your take on the markets right now, youve been cautious as we have seen record after record after record in terms of valuations but this market just will not quit . Well, youre absolutely right. It would be healthy to have a pause. Every bull market and we are in a new bull market or perhaps the bear market back in the spring was just a cyclical bear market in what has been the longers bull market in history. Only time and historians will tell us that, but we are do for a little bit of pause but lets not forget the tailwinds that are driving this market are powerful and theyre not going away. Extraordinary monetary and physical stimulus, positive economic momentum and theres no alternative, you have no choice but to invest in equities and theres a little bit of a fear of missing out but the tailwinds are powerful. We will be in the tinea tina environment for several years, some of the headwinds of school not reopening. Look, we have a little bit of spike in corona that softened some of the Economic Data lathe in july and early august, i think weve gotten over that. And the market is looking straight through all of these obstacles and headwinds. That tells you how powerful the tailwinds are. Maria we know that jay powell said rates will be where they are near zero until 2024, hes been clear and adamant about that. Let me ask you about backdrop and what the low rates are doing for the economy. We had big week for retail. You saw good numbers from walmart, target, home depot, et cetera, what does that tell you about the backdrop right now and have rates done to the economy what obviously they are doing to the stock market . Hank well its not only rates, its also the stimulus package, the extra federal benefits on top of state unemployment and theres a little bit of pinned up demand now that weve opened up and i dont think we are going to go back into a lockdown. Consumers want to pend and, look, retail sales are back to where they were prejanuary, you know, back in january, prepandemic which is extraordinary, so dont ever sell the u. S. Consumer short. We have a dna program that we like to spend and that is being demonstrated right now. We are just spending it on some different different things. Maria yeah, i mean, ecommerce is obviously soaring, walmart ecommerce up 93 for the quarter. Liz peek, jump in here. Im wondering how powerful the rise in consumer net worth is. This market has clearly made people wealthier and home prices are going up. Isnt that why part of the consumer is it seems like spending has reaccelerated. I dont think anyone was looking for that. Is it because we are feeling better about our net worth . Yeah, and savings are up. Savings are at an astronomically high level around 18 which is, you know, phenomenal, but look at what we are spending at. We are spending on home goods, tjmx but home goods off the chart. So our spending shifted somewhat, try to get a contractor these days to do something around the home, its virtually impossible. Maria yeah, makes a lot of sense because we are at home, we are spending more energy and time and money on our homes, hank, great to see you this morning. Thanks very much, we will be watching the developments, time for morning mover, tesla, the stock up 2 and a half percent this morning after closing at a new record yesterday, above 2,000 a share. Now this is the last day you want to buy ahead of stock split, this is the 5 for 1 stock split at these levels, tesla market cap now outpaces walmart stock this morning, up 2 and a half percent. We have a big show this morning and we are just getting started. We will slip in a short break and i will be speaking with Vice President mike pence coming up and discuss dnc and how hes prepare to go debate Kamala Harris and whats next to stimulus and, of course, covid19, ahead mission congressman Debbi Dingell and today is a big day in durham probe, big interview happening at 8 00 a. M. Hour South Carolina congressman trey gowdy talking about dnc and John Brennans plan to interview today with john durham. He invested in that a long time ago. Safe travels, we are getting in plane is safer than what you think. Youre watching mornings with maria live on fox business. Maria joe bidens message to america. He focused on moving the country forward out of a what he called season of darkness. I will be an ally of the white and not the darkness. This is a lifechanging election. This will determine what america is going to look for a long, long time. Character is on the ballot, compassion is on the ballot, decency, science, democracy, theyre all on the ballot. We have a great purpose as a nation to open doors of opportunity to all americans, to save our democracy, to be a light to the world once again and finally to live up to and make real the words written in sacred documents that founded this nation, that all men and women are created equal. This is our moment, this is our mission. May history be able to say that the end of this chapter of american darkness began here tonight. Maria joining me right now usa today Washington Bureau chief susan page, susan, good to have you, your reaction to dnc this week and last nights acceptance speech by joe biden . Susan maria, i can tell you that democrats are happy about how it went. It was kind of a high wire Convention Like this before and joe biden has history of sometimes veering off topic when it comes to speeches. He didnt do that last night. He stuck to the script and delivered somber address for somebody accepting nomination, a little more like a president ial address than a candidate acceptance address, suitable, democrats say to the moment that we are in. Maria do you think that the democrats got their message across this week, one take away from my standpoint was it was a lot of donald trump trashing and not a lot of substance in terms of policies that theyd like to implement . Susan you know, i think thats right, i think they talked about the case that they hoped to make against President Trump. They also talked about the personal characteristics of joe biden. You heard in the clip that you played talking about decency and empathy and much less specific when it comes to highlighting specific policies that they would follow in office like Climate Change and health care, thats deliberate because they are trying to appeal to Broad Spectrum of voters. Maria james, jump in here. James you mentioned somber address from mr. Bind, his advisers felt like that fit the moment. He said as president he would order people to wear masks nationwide and i noticed when he went outside after wards while outside, how much they want to make it about virus and add have beenating restrictions on peoples activity . You know, i think they think this campaign is all about the virus. This is a pandemic that that is redesigned the campaign in part because its redefined not just people tell the economy on which President Trump hoped to run, the mask mandate, he didnt use the phrase mask mandate. That is not exactly what he posed when he talked about he talked about having governors, encouraging governors to impose mask mandates but that has turned out masks turned out to be a big partisan divide in the country. Who knew . Maria yeah, liz peek. Liz i thought that there was a remarkable focus on race during the entire four nights and i do understand that we are in a moment where theres a lot of protest and certainly in the wake of george floyd murder, a lot of concern of race relations, i wonder if it wasnt almost too much, it was such a dark sort of dismal portrayal of the health of this nation in a sense. I dont mean physical health but the Mental Health of the nation. Do you think maybe they went overboard on that . Actually walker tweeted about, you know, making this all about race was going the backfire, what do you think . Well, i think thats one of the things we will find out. You know, this is, of course, a groundbreaking moment for the nation with woman of color on a National Party ticket. Thats not happened before at a time when weve seen through the biggest protests, street protest s this summer. Thats another as with masks, as with the coronavirus, that is another issue that really divides these two candidates and maybe we will find out in november whether they went too far or not. Maria yeah, a lot of street art as well . Susan thats right. Maria susan, thank you. Susan page joining thus morning. We will slip in a short break. When we come back big win for uber and lyft drivers, we will take a look and tell you about it then. A trip from the upside down and how you can experience the world from Stranger Things in your car, back in a minute. You doing okay . Yeah. This moving thing never gets any easier. Maria welcome back, well, clashing visions, joe biden accepting the democratic nom while President Trump rallied in pennsylvania both talking about the future. Love is more powerful than heat and hope more powerful than fear and light is more powerful than dark, this is our moment, this is our mission, may history be able to say that tend of this chapter of american darkness began here tonight. If you want a vision of your life under biden presidency, think of the ruins in minneapolis and imagine the mayhem coming to your town and every single town in america. Maria James Freeman, your reaction. James yeah, i didnt it was interesting to me that biden was casting as hope versus fear and i see message postally about fear in terms of talking all about virus and masks. Hes representing the party of School Shutdowns basically so i i thought it was kind of odd casting it that way. I also one of the themes of the week liz brought up, the racism issue. I noticed politicians like joe biden last night and a lot of people in our industry used the term systematic racism and asserted without saying exactly what it is and how its measured and i think thats something that is not for a lot of people going to be immediately obvious, not just giving the the recent elections of barack obama twice as our president but the fact that Asian Americans are the highest income group. I think if we are going to have policies based on addressing quote, unquote, systematic racism. I think the problem does need to be defined and discussed. Maria thats a great point especially about the wages of Asian Americans. Liz, look, it wasnt just competing visions for the future this week at the dnc, there are competing visions of policy between candidate, the Vice President and President Trump. This is like this is black and white in terms of what they want to do, in terms of Economic Policy for sure. I think thats right, maria, and i think that joe biden is going to be pressed to be more specific about what he really wants to do for the country and its all very well and good to say im a good person and donald trump is not and here is what i think we need to do, we need to be kinder to everybody. People i mean, trumps best message is we had a booming economy just a few months ago. We can bring that back because weve done it before and if joe biden is elected president , hikes taxes, 1 trillion, takes away the tremendous advantage we have from cheap energy by going to renewable fuels. I think thats going to be something people really think about before they vote. Is this going to be a time when i want the economy back down because of joe biden. I dont think thats going to play well. Maria yeah, lets talk more about this. We are going to take a break. When we come back michigan congresswoman Debbi Dingell on whats ahead and in terms of policy differences. Stay right here. Id like to tell you about my greatgrandmother. My grandma. My cousin. My greatgreat grandmother. She was all of 411 but very tenacious. A very independent woman. Driven, passionate. Embodied grit, perseverance. She marched. She wrote. She demanded. Im Maria Bartiromo and it is friday august 21st, lets take a look at market this is morning at 6 31 a. M. , we have completely turned negative now, futures are now showing decline of 10 points on the dow, nasdaq futures down about 1 point and s p futures down 1 and a half. This after the nasdaq closed at another record high yesterday. Dow and the s p 500 also closing in a green in what was strong day, the nasdaq was down 18 and Global Market this is morning are mixed now, take a look at european indices which are mostly higher, dax index in germany up 22 points french president Emmanuel Macron and german chancellor Angelo Merkel warning against new lockdowns. Markets followed wall streets lead and best performer was korea which was up one and a third percent. Hang seng and hong kong also higher by one and a third percent. Meanwhile at home massive wild fires burning in california have now become deadly. Cheryl casone with the details, cheryl. Cheryl good morning, at least 5 people have died in wild fires which Officials Say have doubled in size in just 24 hours, thousands of people have been forced to flee their homes and mandatory evacuations and another 100 may have to leave this weekend. Storms in the gulf, tropical depression 13 and 14 could hit the coast early as next week. Both systems could hit the coast at the same time and then uber and lyft open for business after all. The companies can treat drivers as independent contractors while Court Considers appeal. Uber and lyft threatened to shut down if they were suppose today classify as employees under new state law. Voters could end up deciding the issue on ballot measure on november third, its prop 22, taking a look at uber and lyft in the premarket. Both, maria, are fractionally down. And those are your headlines, back over to you. Maria cheryl, thank you. Joe biden officially the democratic nominee for president. He outlined plans to unit the country and jobs. Listen. While i will be a democratic candidate i will be an american president , i will work hard for those who didnt support me. Thats the job of a president , to represent all of us and not just our base or our party. My economic plan is all about jobs, dignity, respecting community, together we can and we will rebuild our economy and when we do, we will not only build back, but build back better. An Education System that trains our people for the best jobs of the 21st century. Maria President Trump campaigned in pennsylvania yesterday and while doing so slammed joe bidens record. We have been reversing joe bidens betrayals and delivering historic wins for the people of pennsylvania. Your state lost over 50,000 manufacturing jobs when biden was Vice President. In my first 3 years, pennsylvania gained 14,000 jobs, manufacturing and going up at a level that nobody has ever seen before. We will catch all of those jobs that were lost. Maria joining me right now is michigan congresswoman and House Committee member Debbi Dingell, always a pleasure to be with you, its hard to argue with President Trumps record on the economy when you look at what was taken place before covid19, fair . Congresswoman well, i think the economy will be one of the issues that will be discussed during this campaign but i will also tell you the president s handling of covid is going to be the driving factor in this election and the handling is impacting the economy. Thats what people dont understand or do understand maybe i should say. Maria that was a dot debbi, that was a lot of the theme at the dnc that the president handled covid poorly and i just would like to know specifics in terms of what youre meaning by that. I know that there were issues with testing. I broke that story early on that the testing was going to be a major problem, so that i get, but where else has the president fallen short in terms of the response to covid . You know, one of the things he would do what i i really believe the president whoever he is republican or democrats is president for all americans. I try to work with everybody and be civil and i will do anything to work with him even now. Putting on a damn mask would save lives, maria, thats something that is basic and simple. He denied it for a long time. Maria you say thats where he fell short that he didnt wear a mask, is that what youre saying, thats where he well, thats one fact. Maria that he didnt wear a mask . Listen, the whole week the whole week has been about the president falling short on the covid response. If thats the best youve got that he didnt wear a mask then i have to call it out. Look, did you see did you see the oped in the journal this morning . Go ahead. Active leadership like that would just save lives. He needs to you have to open every school, you to open these governors have been quite frankly, he was pinning governors against each other. Trying to get ppe, the national stockpile. I could go through this one by one, but people but if maria well, not really. As kim strassel writes in the wall street journal this morning in an oped titled the obamabiden virus response. She takes us back to h1n1 swine flu outbreak of 2009 and she says democrats dont like to talk about h1n1 didnt go well because it had been as deadly as covid the toll would have been catastrophic and many on the democrat side have said, yes, our response was horrible with that virus. The bottom line is you cant you have to you need a vaccine and you cant really do much about Something Like an h1n1 or covid19 and the piece goes through the democrats handling h1n1. I understand that it plays well just like it plays well to say the people at the top dont pay any taxes, its just it sort of plays well with the populist but its not true that the president has fallen short on the on the response to covid. Youve got a handful of things here like issues with testing and not wearing a mask, but i cant point to anything else thats actually substantial and furthermore, congresswoman, how come theres not a mention of china at all . Not one mention of china this entire week. You and i have spoken this a long time, you yourself said you dont want your jobs in michigan going to china and you want the supply chains back here. We havent heard a word of that and they are blaming President Trump for covid and meanwhile we know that the Chinese Communist party exported the virus to the u. S. , where is the outrage there . Congresswoman well, as you know i do have outrage and i was one of the first members in january, people were making fun of me, covid, covid, thats all you talk about, i saw the potential danger coming here, but, maria, i am going to disagree with you. If we had somebody who here is what i think trump has to do. Look, i wanted to get along with him. I want to get along with anybody, he name called. He could bring us together as a president and say we have a crisis, but instead of saying, okay, how do i work with the governors and make sure that they are getting supplies that they need, he was pinning governors of states against each other. Maria so, congresswoman, i think you make a great point. The namecalling is wrong, its disrespectful but i will say this, what do you say to nancy pelosi. She called it the trump virus. She said they are murdering people. Shes supposed to be the speaker of the house of representatives. Shes supposed to be the voice of the people congresswoman, shes attacking republicans daily. So what do you say to her about the namecalling and attacks on republicans when, in fact, shes supposed to be the speaker for all of us . Congresswoman i think what i do believe this and im not just because shes my democratic leader. I think it comes from a place of she doesnt do it every day and look im the one in the house that wants to bring everybody together and Everybody Knows how i feel about civility. Maria you have to call it out. Congresswoman i do call it out as you know. Shes getting frustrated because she cares. The one thing i know and im in that room with nancy pelosi maria we all care. Congresswoman the progressive arm of our party we shouldnt work with republicans and she said we are better off if we can do this bipartisan. Maria congresswoman, Kevin Mccarthy told me on this program that hes trying to get a task force on china together, but nancy pelosi will not allow any democrats to join his task force. Does nancy pelosi and do the democrats have a china problem . Congresswoman i think weve got to deal with subject of china. I have not had the specific discussion with her. I will, maria. Maria im talking about them something on somebody that they wont go against china and i will not hear a bad word, do they have something on somebody here . Congresswoman no, do they not have something on somebody. Maria okay. Congresswoman issues i cant talk about because they are top security and shes not she knows china is a problem. Ive had discussion with her pointblank. Maria you have . We know that Dianne Feinstein had a driver and we found out that was chinese spy. We are having the conversation that is taking place across america and thats why i appreciate it so much. Thank you so much for coming here this morning. Congresswoman thank you. Maria welcome back, john durham will be interviewing former cia director john brennan as part of investigation into origins of russia probe, my next guest introduced former Trump Campaign adviser, 3 months later the fbi secured the first of four warrants to spy on carter page. Joining me right now former white house and state Department OfficialSteven Schrage, great to have you this morning. First off, tell us about cambridge, what did you tell, tell me about the conference that you planned and plan ultimately inviting Trump Campaign members like carter page and manage others, Steven Miller as well . Right, yeah, i had worked in the white house and National Security positions for a long time. He was loosely involved with the conference but i had planned this back at cambridge over the years and i wanted to be balanced as someone in republican roles to have both republican and democrat representation, so thats why i reached out to get individuals and ultimately had carter page there as kind of the republican representative. Maria so what happened then, steven, youve been telling me when you joined me on sunday morning futures that stephan was happy to meet carter page. Walk us through what took place after your conference back in 2016 . Well, at first stephan did not seem interested in talking to carter page or engage with him. It shifted when former head of mi, at that point he became extraordinary interested in page and isolating him and, again, kind of did a 180degree turn and how he was approaching it before that point. Maria so today john brennan is speaking with john durham. My sources have told me that today is the interview and it was pushed back because there was supposed to be another interview before brennan. Connect the dots for us, why would brennan be there speaking to john durham in your view given the characters at cambridge and how they were connected to mi6. Well, the cia usually has the lead abroad in terms of interacting with foreign Intelligent Services and one of the most disturbing things from the beginning how many would come back with deep lasting links to pull Intelligent Services. Brennan would have been aware of this. He would have known what was going on in 2016. Current cia director lena hasel and to bring papadopoulos and this opens box and what do foreign intelligence knows that our own officials are hiding from our own president and from elected officials in the United States. Maria we are just looking at the timeline of stephan, he got 244,000 to study russia and china and a year later 411,000 all the while youre getting surveillance on Trump Campaign people. Right. Maria you have been in academia some time, have you ever seen payments like this . Talk about that for a moment. Ive never seen anything like that this. One thing thats important if you look at intelligence report, theres almost no discussion of the fact that we had confidential human source called the spy, spying on campaign officials. As a matter of fact, to your point about how he was paid is redacted and apparently not given to committee. Look at page 5 of the report, it says someone paid for papadopoulos flight and hotel but it does not say who. And i think the real issue is this has been covered up and hidden so long claiming sources and methods need to protect this but that really trashes the constitution if we cant exploit these things. Maria steven, you make so many great points, thank you for joining us, Steven Schrage joining us on spygate and john durham investigation. We will be right back. I have amd. Netflix is creating a driveinto experience in los angeles, fans can drive through real sets from the hit show. It opens in october. James, it seems like its a good sociallydistant outing. James yeah, im not sure how much we want to spend creating covidproof experiences because its possible this thing is not the the disaster Going Forward that some fear, but, yeah, i think this could work even virus or not and i guess theres a market in my household probably for an avengers or harry pottertype deal with the cars. Maria exactly. How about this, kanye west learning every minute counts when running for president. Rapper turned president ial candidate will not be on the ballot in wisconsin after all because his documents missed the deadline by a minute or two. The election commissioner says when youre late, youre late. Liz, joust a couple of minutes. Liz this says this is not a serious campaign. Hes on a handful of states ballots apparently, but youve got to do your homework arriving late with your documents is kind of idiotic. Some are suggesting this is a way of democrats suppressing, i dont think it matters. Its not a serious quest in my view. Maria finally Something Else making the buzz on mornings with maria, our music choices, id like to share some of my favorite songs. Here is what is making my play list right now. I try by macy gray. The recovery in france losing steam. The preliminary purchasing Managers Index out of france for the month of august came in below expectations. French president Emmanuel Macron and german chancellor Angela Merkel are warning against any new rounds of lockdowns in europe as number of coronavirus cases are spiking. In asia it was green across the board, best performer was the korean kospi index, up one and a third percent and hang seng up one and a third percent as well. Joining the conversation this morning is liz peek and James Freeman. Its great to see you guys this morning. Liz good morning. James great to see you. Maria some of the top stories were watching this morning. Joe biden accepting the democratic nomination for president. The former Vice President using his acceptance speech to lay out his plans to kickstart the economy. Watch. My economic plan is all about jobs, dignity, respect and community. Together we can and will rebuild our economy and when we do, well not only build back, well build back better. With an Education System that trains our people for the best jobs of the 21st century. Maria meanwhile, President Trump made a Campaign Stop in pennsylvania earlier in the day. He said a biden win would be a disaster for the economy. Biden would terminate this unprecedented recovery. He wants to impose a permanent lockdown combined with a socialist takeover of the u. S. Economy. Did you hear him the other day, lock it down. He wants to lock it down. Maria President Trump will accept the gop nomination for president during the Republican NationalConvention Next week. Steve bannon out this morning on 5 million in bail after his arrest yesterday on fraud and Money Laundering charges. The former white house chief strategist pleading not guilty in an alleged scheme to defraud donors in a 25 million fundraiser to build President Trumps border wall. Bannon is accused of stealing more than 1 million from the nonprofit to pay his personal expenses, three other men also charged. Bannon was taken into custody on a luxury yacht off the coast of connecticut. Post office politics, the postmaster general expected on capitol hill today, he will answer questions amid accusation thats the Trump Administration is trying to make changes at the Postal Service in an effort to hinder mailin voting. The changes on hold until after the election. The house is expected to vote tomorrow on putting 25 billion into the Postal Service. Getting back to the classroom, the white house declaring teachers as essential workers. Vice president mike pence reportedly making the announcement earlier this week k in a phone call with governors. It says they can work even after theyre exposed to covid1 covin if theyre asymptomatic. Its time for the word on wall street, a look at what experts are watching. Joining us now is brin talkington, chief Investment Officer lee monson and rebecca wallser. A big week for markets. The s p 500 hitting another record high yesterday. Futures are pulling back this morning from those record highs. But the nasdaq has been on a roll, as you all know, posting its 35th record close of 2020 yesterday alone. Brin, your take on the record markets and how to deal with these valuations. Sure. Great to see you, maria. This has been the fastest bear Market Recovery for the s p, so its really incredible that we hit alltime highs. But that doesnt even come close to the nasdaq which is up a staggering the nasdaq 100 up 32 this year. So i think that hats off to jay powell and steve mnuchin, six months ago working very quickly to get a lot of stimulus from the treasury and the fed. I think its a little bit bittersweet because the economy clearly is not clicking on all cylinders. So i think that as we go into the end of the year, we really need to continue to see Earnings Growth and we need to get some more stimulus and support because obviously its very bittersweet because theres been so much pain in the economy still. Maria yes. So do you think turns up end of the year . Sure. I mean, well, i think thats election bias. So well see. Right now the market hitting alltime high is i think clearly showing a trump victory. But as you see earnings recover, deere had earnings today that, were really strong. So i think yes, we continue to go higher. Things could change. Maria tesla stock meanwhile soaring, its pushing the companys market value past walmart, rebecca. The car maker valued at 372 billion. The retail giant had 369 billion at walmart. Shares of tesla up 7 yesterday, closed as another alltime high and we are probably looking at more gains ahead at the opening of trading, its up ahead of a major stock split. Would you buy this stock here . You know, maria, the thing is, its earnings per share, pe ratio, its just so high. So its like people are expecting to live on mars or something with the valuation of tesla right now. I respect elon musk immensely. Hes an innovator of our time. The five to one stock split was absolutely warranted. We have to get this back down to reasonable numbers. I think theres still growth for tesla. Actually, i think yes. But right now this forwardlooking pe ratio is a little high. My goodness, what are they valuing this tesla to be doing at this kind of pe ratio . Maria well, its always appropriate to look at valuations and reassess a situation. Weve all lived through the 90s. I think when you come out of the dotcom boom and the dotcom bust, the only thing to say is if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. You want to be looking at that when considering some of these stocks. Meanwhile, theres the fed which of course has enabled all of this, fed chairman jay powell expected to speak on how the central bank plans to stabilize prices and maximize employment once the coronavirus pandemic ends. It is the feds rock bottom rates that is partly due yo to s stock market performance. For me, what i want to do instead of chasing tesla or worrying about the nasdaq, i want to use that knowledge that the feds going to keep rates near zero, theyve said through late 2022, and i dont think that anybody is contesting that right now. I love the mortgage r. E. I. T. Sector. Theres an etf called rem, kind of a cool ticker. Heres whats going on with mortgage rates. They have a low cost of funding for the next couple years. The volatility in bond markets is also dead and left for dead so their cost of hedging their Interest Rate swaps, those are lower. These are companies, all 30 of them youre getting a yield of 12 . Thats after all of the cuts to the dividends, after all of the reduction toss the dividends of those mortgage r. E. I. T. S. Theyre only getting better. They only have a tail wind beneath their sales. If youre looking for sails. If youre looking for something thats not tesla, where the book value will be rising for the next few years and theyre still down 40 for the year, the same thing with the oil markets in the infrastructure mlps also yielding 12 . So theres a lot of great stuff thats super cheap, thats taking advantage of this cheap money but its been overlooked because its not one of these favorites by the Young Robinhood trader crowds and its not a hot thing like tesla. If you can compound it for years on something thats super cheap, lets go for it. Maria yeah. Yeah, its a great point. And youre right. Value is being overlooked by all the headlines in growth. Brin, rebecca, and lee, great to see you this morning. Much more ahead this morning. This hour ill be speaking with Vice President mike pence, well discuss the dnc, how hes preparing to debate Kamala Harris, whats next for stimulus and the covid task force, coming up. Next hour, former South Carolina congressman trey gowdy is here discussing the dnc and John Brennans planned interview today with john durham. Plus Allen Patrick howe talks about apples 2 trillion market value. Plus safe travels, why getting on a plane right now is safer than you might think. Youre watching mornings with maria live on fox business. i need it so bad dont call it a hobby. Its way more than just a job. This is how we live every single day. Can we go and play . roaring of engines i needed to try needed to fall i needed your love im burning away i need never get old maria welcome back. Joe biden message to america, the former Vice President accepting the democratic nomination for president last night. He focused on moving the country forward and out of what he calls a season of darkness. If you entrust me with the presidency, i will draw on the best of us, not the worst. Ill be an ally of the light, not the darkness. The president takes no responsibility, refuses to lead, blames others, cozies up to dictators and fans the flames of hate and division. This is our moment. This is our mission. May history be able to say that the end of this chapter of american darkness began here, tonight. Maria joining me right now is former adviser to the clinton, and the Stagwell Group manager partner, mark penn. Your reaction to joe bidens acceptance speech last night. I think he had a strong and clear message and he delivered it. I think the entire convention went off as people intended. They delivered the message that character counts, that joe biden will bring things together, that trump is responsible for 170,000 deaths. They delivered their message. They kept the party together. They had a convention that was almost flawless. And i think most importantly, joe biden as a candidate was able to deliver the speech against very low expectations. Maria yeah, well, thats a good point on the low expectations. A couple of things. I mean, what ive been looking at and ive been commenting on this week is the fact that there is not a lot of substance. So youre right, it was all politics, to say that its President Trumps fault for 170,000 people dying of covid, thats total politics. We know thats not true. There was a lot of empathy, emotion, but nothing about here is the policy im going to use to create jobs. Here is how im actually going to move the country forward. No comment on the crime that is ravaging our country in all of our big cities and no comment on china. What do you think about that . Well, all the scores, youre right. In the sense that, look, im used to conventions and having planned out the 96 and speeches with president clinton were all about detailed substance. But the decision made by this campaign is that the more substance they give out, the more they get caught between the left and the right and so they made a decision that they could give a general message here, hell do it, hell bring the country together. He didnt mention china. He didnt mention some of the violence in the streets. And it will now be up to the republicans to whether or not the biden message holds together and whether or not they can be called out on the things that you mentioned. But youre right, no, sir are the holes in youre right, those are the holes in the case. Will they matter . We dont know yet. Maria James Freeman, weve been working on this, we wrote a book together thats coming out in october which were going to mention later on but youve gone through the biden, bernie Task Force Agenda and we know what hes talked about in terms of where he wants to go, but again, no mention of it when hes at the podium, james. James thanks, but i think you talk about this hole in the argument when it comes to job creation and just to develop that a little further, i thought it was a fairly effective speech but when he got to that point and hes talking about, okay, heres the jobs plan, he started talking about Climate Change. Now, if you believe the planet is going to face horrendous outcome, i guess you think its justified to spend enormous sums to replace the Energy Sources we use now, but, mark, i really wonder, this effort by biden and others to sell all of these cost as if theyre benefits, to say that were going to turn the economy upside down and thats going to be a job creator, im really skeptical of that argument but maybe theyve seen polling or of focus group data that makes them think that will fly. Well, right now the greatest strength that President Trump has is that certainly in my polls and others, when it comes to the economy, he is still viewed as the person who could cure or help the economy. Whereas biden is seen as the person who can stop the virus and the biggest weakness that the president has is that people think that he went from being successful on the virus to a failure as the second wave came and thats the biggest problem that right now President Trump has in getting reelected and its the biggest truck that they drove against him at this convention. Maria yeah. So real quick. During the dnc, mark, i think the president s numbers have improved, right . Because the polls were biden was leading for a long time. Just this last twoweek period, the president has done better. I think thats right. I think the president has come up a couple of points. Look, you know, this was a wellchoreographed four days here. Never in the history of conventions have people been allowed to play their message by itself, recorded and taped, and well see how the republicans do. I mean, its their turn up at the plate but theyll need to do a good job here to keep the momentum going. Maria yeah, the Republican NationalConvention Begins on monday. Mark, its good to see you. Thank you so much. Thank you. Maria well be covering next week of course, coming up, Vice President mike pence will join me in about ten minutes time. The former white house chief strategist pled not guilty to an alleged scheme to defraud donors from an online Fund Raising Campaign to help build the border wall. Last year i spoke with steve bannon on sunday morning futures and he told me about his mission at the border. Heres what he said back then. You have been trying to work with private Property Owners to build a wall where you can, away from the governments efforts, right . Tell us what youre doing, steve. Well, the army corps of engineers President Trump is going to build 1200 miles of wall. Theres certain sectors where its been either too difficult or just bypass it. We built our first part of wall near the el paso sector, the most dangerous part, going up the side of a mountain. We stopped the incursions 100 since we built the wall. Im here in arizona. This private group, we build the wall, the triple amputee hero, brian kolfage, has founded. We are in the rio grande valley. We had 30 different private land owners approach us, theyve seen our wall in new mexico, in sunland park, to actually help them. These are areas where the army corps of engineers these are niches. Were a niche player. President trump and the army corps are building long runs of wall on the southern border right now. Maria so that was august of 2019 when bannon joined me on sunday morning futures. Liz peek, the charge here is that he told donors, him and his colleagues there, told donors donate money to build the wall, were not going to get paid anything, this is just going to the wall but the Southern District of new york is saying thats not true, that they actually enriched themselves by taking some of that money and paying themselves. Your reaction to all of this, quite the stunner yesterday. Liz yeah, its a horrible allegation. I hope that its not true, of course, because a lot of Vulnerable People and gullible people would have contributed probably important amounts of money to them to something that didnt happen. Maria, theres a lot we dont know about this including is this a political expedition on the part of manhattan i think this came out of which is pretty suspect in my mind. I think we need to reserve judgment until we hear more. Maria yeah, i think thats right. You know, when i first saw the news yesterday, i said it definitely resonated that it was the Southern District of new york that was bringing this charge. But james, do you think this case is going to affect President Trump . James i would say probably not. Bannon has pled not guilty, by the way, deserves the presumption of innocence. I also think there would be a question about the even application of the law. There are a few charities of out there that might spend money on overhead among the money they collect. But as don luskin says the problem has already been solved. Trump has essentially fulfilled his promise to build a wall and get mexico to pay for it with mexicos commitment to add more troops to prevent the flow of illegal migration. Maria yeah. And once again, the timing of this also raises questions, given the fact that today john brennan is in an interview with john durham and the ag, bill barr, told me were getting very close to developments on the criminal investigation coming out of john durhams office and of course right before the brennan interview, this is released. So well keep watching that. I think youre both right. We need to get more information here. When we come back, Vice President mike pence is here, well get his reaction to the dnc, the economy, covid and a lot more, its coming up next, live with the Vice President. The former Vice President making his acceptance speech at the final fight of the dnc, outlining what he will do in terms of the economy and jobs. Watch. While ill be a democratic candidate, i will be an american president. Ill work hard for those who didnt support me. Thats the job of a president. To represent all of us, not just our base or our party. My economic plan is all about jobs, dignity, respect and community. Together, we can and will rebuild our economy and when we do, well not only build back, well build back better. With an Education System that trains our people for the best jobs of the 21st century. Maria joining me right now is the Vice President of the United States, mike pence. And mr. Vice president , its wonderful to have you this morning. Thanks for being here. Good morning, maria. Maria what was your reaction to the dnc, capped by joe bidens speech last night . Well, you know, obviously i didnt get to watch a lot of it, but the parts that i saw over the course of the whole week painted a very grim picture of the United States of america. It was very negative, very hostile. We heard the likes of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren talk about policy but most of the convention was an attack on the president of the United States and last night in joe bidens address, we heard a lot of platitudes. If you read between the lines, you heard about joe bidens plan to raise taxes, increase regulation and take us back to all the same policies of the last administration that resulted in the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression and i believe were rejected by the American People in 2016. So im looking forward to next week. The Republican National convention. Were going to talk about what this president has done, rebuild our military, revive our of economy, stand by all of our of strong constitutional liberties appointing conservatives to our courts, standing by Law Enforcement, standing for law and order. Were going to contrast that with joe biden, the Democratic Partys agenda, driven by the radical left of higher taxes, socialized medicine, open borders, abortion on demand and continued calls to cut, defund, disassemble Law Enforcement thats driving violence in the streets of our major cities. Maria yeah, i mean, thats one point that ive been making. You didnt hear a word all week about the crime and vandalism and rioting going on in our big cities. You really also didnt hear a word about china, but they are blaming your administration for underperformance in terms of handling covid. So let me ask you about that. You are the head of this task force, you have been in the room leading this effort from day one, mr. Vice president. They say the Biggest Issue right now is the president having failed in his response to covid19. Can you speak to that . Whats your response to that . I couldnt be more proud of President Trumps leadership of the Coronavirus Response from day one. And you speak about china. Joe biden never talked about china in his speech. But the coronavirus came from china. And when President Donald Trump before the end of january suspended all travel from china, joe biden said it was xenophobic and for months and months he criticized the president s steps in suspending all travel. No president in American History had ever done it before. China is the second largest economy in the world. But President Donald Trump said were going to put the health of America First and i can tell you, because of the president s action, then and standing up the White House Coronavirus task force, beginning in early february to develop a vaccine that were well on our way to developing, even before the end of this year, reinventing testing, now were doing more than 800,000 tests a day, standing up an industrial effort on a wartime footing, the likes of which we havent seen since world war ii to create ventilators and produce masks and gowns and medical supplies, but, look, if we had done what joe biden wanted to do, we would not have had the time to stand up and marshall the Extraordinary National response that i believe has saved hundreds of thousands of american lives. And if they want o to take that debate over the next 74 days to the American People, i look forward to the chance. We grieve the loss of more than 170,000 americans and any family members thats looking on this morning knows that youve always been in our hearts and always will be. But if we would have listened to joe biden and not suspended travel from china, i truly do believe we would have lost hundreds of thousands of more american lives because we wouldnt have had the time necessary to stand up the response that this president has led. Maria so let me ask you about Kamala Harris who you will be debating in the coming weeks. What are you expecting her line of attack to be . The california senator accepting the democratic nomination for Vice President earlier in the week, becoming the first woman of color on a u. S. President ial ticket. Let me tell you, she was an attack dog on biden during the democratic debates. Shes a prosecutor. Shes going to be tough. Shes probably going to be tough on you. What are you expecting when you go head to head with her in your Vice President ial debate . Well, i really look forward to debating senator harris. She is a california liberal. She had the most liberal record in the United States senate in 2019. But, look, i honestly believe that joe bidens selection of Kamala Harris just confirms everything President Trump and i have said all along and that is that joe biden and the Democratic Party have beenover taken overtaken by the radical left. And it is remarkable to think in the midst of a global pandemic, joe biden said the first thing he would do is raise taxes on the American People by 4 trillion. He would impose a 2 trillion version of the Green New Deal. All the same Climate Change rhetoric that we heard before. And joe biden not long ago said that he would take all the tariffs off of china that this president has used to end the era of economic surrender. So i look forward to the debate with senator harris. Shes a skilled debater. But im more looking forward to is 74 days of debating her team, their agenda versus the proven record of President Donald Trump. One last item too, mari maria. I heard joe biden last night say this economy wont come back until the coronavirus is over. Well, news flash to joe biden. The economy is coming back. I mean, because of the Strong Foundation that President Trump poured in our first three years of less taxes, less regulation, more free and fair trade, unleashing american energy, weve added 9 million jobs back to this economy in the last three months alone. At the height of the pandemic we had lost 22 million american jobs but 9 million americans have been able to go back to work and i think the only thing standing in the way of a full and robust american recovery in 2021 is a joe biden presidency and thats what were going to take to the American People and i think its going to win four more years for President Donald Trump and the white house. Maria and youre going to talk about this next week. The Republican National convention kicking off on monday, expected speakers include Kevin Mccarthy, first lady melania trump, nikki haley, mr. Vice president , what are you looking forward to next week and are you going to be able to make the case that in fact we are going to see growth and normalization in our economy once again, given the massive challenge of covid19 . Look, youre going to see a great lineup of leaders and youre going to see a great number of voices from all across this country that talk about what this president has done through not just through the time of testing through which weve passed but in the first three years, where we rebuilt our military we revived the economy, we saw more than 200 conservatives appointed to our courts, we stood with Law Enforcement at every level. One of the things i was struck by last night was that joe biden said that democracy is on the ballot, character is on the ballot. Well, let me tell you something, maria. I think your viewers know, the economys on the ballot. I mean, joe biden and the Democratic Party want to return americas economy to the kind of high taxes, regulations, you know, policies, Climate Change policy, all the rest that stifled american growth. They presided over the slowest economic recovery since the Great Depression over the course of their eight years. Weve actually seen more americans go back to work in the last three months than they saw added to the economy in their entire eight years. So were going to make that case. And its not just going to be talk. Its going to be what this president has done, the foundation that he poured, the strong leadership hes shown throughout this coronavirus pandemic, and our agenda to bring america back bigger and better than ever before. Maria well, maybe thats why theyre not talking specific policies because the policies will scare you, like joe biden wanting to raise taxes by 4 trillion. Theyre pushing things like empathy and in the middle of it all we get this news about steve bannon, mr. Vice president. Whats your reaction to this, the former white house strategist. Hes out now on bail, 5 million in bail. He was arrested yesterday on fraud charges, being accused of spending over 1 million of donated money from that we build the Wall Campaign for personal expenses. What do you have to say about this . What is the administrations response to bannon getting arrested . And i should say bannon says hes not guilty. Well, look, i want to allow steve bannon to have his day in court. I dont know any more about that than what i read in the paper. What i do know is that President Trump denounced that effort months and months ago and i think one of the great accomplishments, as democrats are arguing for open borders, joe biden is advocating amnesty for 11 million illegal immigrants, remember it was just a few short years ago that democrats were opposing any effort to build a wall on our southern border. The president knows a nation without borders is not a nation and so he stood strong. We declared a national emergency. As thousands were surging across our border in the south every day and the president was able to use his executive authority. Weve got billions of dollars, nearly 300 miles of border wall built. As the president said, months ago, that was the right way to do that and well continue to drive toward getting that wall built and let these other matters take care of themselves. Maria look, i think the wall, restoring law and order resonates with the audience. These are things that voters want and youve been right there. But the coronavirus is still a major danger. There are reports that you said you told the governors this week that teachers are now being declared essential workers, to encourage schools to open. People want to get back to work of, want to get back to school. Tell me about teachers being essential workers. Did you tell the governors that, sir . Well, what weve done is add teachers to homeland securitys list of essential workers and theres no mandate in that, maria. What that is, when youre declared an essential worker, it means that you are going to be prioritized for things like ppe and support. But we want to get our kids back to school. But we also want teachers to know that were going to make the Resources Available so that their schools can be a safe environment for them, for all the faculty and all of the staff that works there. But, look, theres no question about it. We dont want our kids to fall behind academically and the president s been clear. We want them back in the classroom. But theres so many other services that children only receive at school, special needs kids, kids with learning disabilities, nutrition needs that are met for underprivileged kids and for working families i read the other day that only one in five Single Parents in america can telework. So maria, its right for our kids academically, right for all their unique needs, especially the vulnerable and underprivileged skid kids. For working families we have to get our kids back to school. States across the country are opening up again. My wife will be in the classroom teaching next week. For all of our teachers, indicating that they are essential workers, we wanted it to be clear that they are going to have the full support of this government, have the supplies and the resources to be able to go back to work safely. Maria you know, this is such a serious issue and its as serious when you look at the shutdown and the impact on peoples livelihoods, mr. Vice president. And to hear the political football being played around such a serious issue of virus impact, sickness, as well as my business just went under because i cant have any foot traffic, would we be seeing the same reaction if this werent an Election Year . Well, look, weve kept politics out of the president s response to the coronavirus from day one. Maria but your critics arent. Well, thats right. What i saw a lot this week, i saw again last night, is democrats pligh politicizing a l pandemic. But, look, were ready to talk about what the American People have done under his president s leadership in the coronavirus. You know, as i said, if we would have listened to joe biden and not suspended all travel from china, we wouldnt have had the time to reinvent testing, we wouldnt have had the time to see american industry stand up an unprecedented response, hundreds of millions of supplies distributed to our hospitals and incredible healthcare workers. And joe biden remarkably said last night there would be no miracle cure. Well, you know, we actually believe that theres a high likelihood that were going to have one or more vaccines for the American People before the end of this year. This president , this president in the first week of february initiated an effort to start developing a vaccine. Were already in phase three Clinical Trials with a number of propromising vaccines. That is, maria, as you know, record time. The most remarkable thing is the president initiated operation warp speed, were not waiting to create the vaccines until theyre proven and approved by the fda. Were actually paying right now to manufacture millions of doses of these promising vaccines so the moments the fda says that they are safe and evidence ebbing of testify, well have millions of doses for the American People. I believe well have a vaccine before the end of this year. But for joe biden to say no miracle cure, to be critical of all of the sacrifices the American People have made that slowed the spread, that flattened the curve, that undoubtedly, despite the heartbreaking loss of more than 170,000 of our countrymen, i believe what the American People have done, what this president has done, saved hundreds of thousands of american lives and if they want to debate that between now and election day, well take that case to the American People and they will see that its just one more example of the strong leadership of President Donald Trump. Maria yeah. I mean, it was january 31st when he shut down travel and i know joe biden called him a xenophobe for doing it. The election is 74 days away right now. I spoke with some Business People yesterday and some of them are worried about senate races. How are you feeling about the election . Can the gop hold onto the Senate Majority and how much will law and order resonate . There are riots in portland right now, highlighting the violence over the last 83 nights. Big cities including new york seeing a jump in crime and homelessness. Are you going to be talking about this . And what is the federal governments responsibility here as people worry about the senate race as well. So talk to both of those issues, how youre feeling about the election, Business People worried about the senate race as well, and how important law and order returning to our cities will be in terms of the impact on the election. Well, let me speak just a second about the point that you made. Before the end of january, before there was a single case of coronavirus transmitted person to person in the United States, President Donald Trump suspended all travel from china. No president had ever done that before. And joe biden called it xenophobic. For months and months, he criticized the president s decision to put the health of America First and last night he talked about his coronavirus plan in march. Well, if we would have listened to him in january, america would have been far behind in those days in march when the pandemic was striking so deeply in major cities across the country. But instead, we were ready. We were able to surge supplies, resources to support our healthcare workers, surge testing across the country. But joe biden got it wrong. He got it wrong for months and the American People deserve to know it. To your other point, i truly do believe that the fact that joe biden and the democrats last week never mentioned the violence that is claiming lives and resulting in destruction in our major cities every single night was astonishing. You know, all we heard again was platitudes. We heard about systemic racism in america and nothing to do with the fact that cities like portland and chicago and new york city have literally been set ablaze by violence. So this president and this campaign, were going to talk about how were going to bring america all the way back, bring it through this time of testing, but were going to talk about how were going to support law and order, support the men and women of Law Enforcement and get ready to hear a lot about that next week. James freeman, your thoughts on the Vice President s comments, he certainly talked a lot of optimism about a vaccine at the end of the year. What did you take away from him. James well, the most optimistic message for me and hats off to the Vice President and the administrations decision to call teachers essential workers. Its high time. I hope that governors and mayors will follow their lead. Weve been robbing our children of billions of dollars of future earnings, not having schools open. In my home state of new jersey we have this absurd situation like a lot of places where people that work at Liquor Stores are essential workers but teachers havent been. So its time to go back to school. The kids need the education and good for the Vice President for bringing this issue up. Maria liz . Liz yeah, look, i think the most exciting debate may well turn out to be pence versus Kamala Harris. Pence really has a very strong framework of beliefs and convictions. Kamala harris flipflops on issue after issue. I think its going to be a very good matchup, just for the reason that your interview was excellent, maria. He has a point of view. Hes going to tell the truth and defend this president. Maria yeah. And theyre talking about empathy all week. Stay with us. Much more ahead. Thank you, liz. Maria former Vice President swiping at President Trump during his acceptance speech as well. I will be a democratic candidate, i will be an american president. I will work hard for those who didnt support me that is the job of a president to represent all of us not just our base or our party. Maria joining me right now former South Carolina congressman author of doesnt hurt to ask using power of questions to communicate connect, and persuade trey gowdy is here congrats on book thanks very much for joining us. Yes thank you, maria. First let me ask you to react to the dnc what are you hearing from your standpoint what struck you most . Well, up until last night it was an ad hominem attack on character of the president whether or not that is calculated to keep base energized or calculated to persuade, uncommitted voters it was hard to tell. Everyoning having the republicans maria when you set expectations incredibly low like person is not lucid every now and again they meet youre low expectations, here is the good news, americans have shorter memories whatever bounce out of this convention will be over with two weeks whatever bounce comes out of Republican Convention over would weeks after that, then we will have a Traditional Campaign hopefully about issues, and not about personalities but i didnt hear a lot of policy last night i have a plan to have a plan is what i heard last night. Maria yeah, that is right, that is the point i have been making trey, because you are not hearing any specifics but you are hearing a lot of trashing of President Trump. And so can they win on the idea well vote for me because i am not trump . That is what they did back in 2016 with hillary we know how that went. I think the only difference is joe biden is less unlikable than Hillary Clinton i think Hillary Clinton had a true deficit we dont know what her policies are we dont know whether or not you really believe them because you there was a true the credibility issue i think republicans are going to need to do more than run against joe biden. But if media is not making him say what his i mean to say my economic plan is jobs. I mean, i can come up with that my wife my wifes first grade students can come up with that that is your economic plan . Is jobs . He is going to have to be pressed on details, and we need to press him on Law Enforcement and law and order, i hear a lot of equivalency between violent protesters and cops most americans that is not a tough call foremost of us we are going to go side with law and order. Yes, so lets talk about that for a moment, because you look at some of the large cities in our country, being taken down being taken apart, destruction of federal property destruction of our cities, crime, deaths, shootings. What is federal governments responsibility here trey . Have who is going to Institute Law and order if the governors, mayors in locales are allowing to it continue not supporting the police forces. Their job most state and local 97 state and local we saw this week even though Mainstream Media buried it bill barr announced indictments, there are federal violations firearms arson explosives Drug Trafficking there are federal statutory will violations that bill barr is enforcing this week we saw African American man elected president twice then African American female nominated one heart bead he lucid moment away from presidency that is the country far left wants to burn down the country they want to disassemble institutions we made a lot of progress i wish they would acknowledge some of that progress not trying to burn the country down. Yeah, where is john durham . U. S. Attorney durham to interview former cia director brennan today as part of criminal investigation he gos into origins of the russia probe you have done so much work object this days after Senate Intel Committee released fine report on russia meddling found again no collusion between President Trump and russia third such report we heard from horowitz, Robert Mueller say will thing you you interviewed john brennan back in the day when head of the oversightk he said he did not use dossier. Did he mislead you what are expectations out of durham how important this is interview today of john brennan in your view . Well brennan was either inaccurate or incompetent, those were choices, because they are certain knew teller dossier existed we know it was used if so out of touch as to to the know that, that is not a great defense, that i was soing being incompetent i didnt know what was used in visa application durham doing it right way maria when i was in house i wifsh we had the difficulties i wish fbi had given us all documents but they did not durham has the ability he aint got to ask for the them he can being go get them documents will be what mistakes this case would i love to sit in on that interview my suspicion brennan knew exactly what was mapping exactly when it was happening. O no one investigation into Hillary Clintons email scandal you also over saw, the probably into that let me ask you a question which i have been asking my guests recently, we know from senator ron johnson, and he has seen, a lot of the declassified documents we know from janeson johnson has seen each of them emails to president barack obama from hillary home server barack obama new hillary using up secured server at home my question to you he knowing now what we know about chinas Espionage Campaign and chinas meddling stealing of intellectual property for so long, is there any way at all, that the China Communist Party did not know that the secretary of state and president of the United States, were using unsecured server to communicate . And what kind of Ventura County did that put us in . Should well, if you remember comey that Infamous Press conference he had there were many iterations of that, of that presentation he gave us, and in some earlier drafts, he addressed the very real probability that a hostile foreign actor knew about her email arrangement included a sentence that president obama was recipient of emails from this account then they were deleted out if you need one more reason to question objectivity of jim comey fbi initial had in drafts took it out didnt want us to know in 2016 what president obama was doing Chinese Foreign actors may have done i dont know that durham is going to answer that question for us i know the answer the fbi new president obama knew about it decided to edit that out of their press conference. Maria unbelievable new book is doesnt hurt are to ask using the power of questions to communicate connect and persuade congrats on book want to give us a teaser here. Just how to win your next conversation whether diagnose thanksgiving, lunch whether for job promotion or politics you culture how to make your case be persuasive communicate then how to use questions to do it. Maria welcome back, iran unveiling two new missiles yesterday as show of force, adding to already rising tensions with United States, amid isra amid European Central bank. Pea deal, mike pompeo yesterday. You United States will never allow largest state sponsor of terrorism to apply and sell missiles, conventional weapons. Joining me right now former u. S. Special representative for iran Senior Policy Adviser to secretary of state mike pompeo brian, thanks very much for being here give us your sense, of two missiles, presented from iran, did they just trying to show force or what was the the point of two missiles. Iran has larjz missile inventory of any country in the middle east those missiles are not for defensive purposes iran had a now 41 year inability to be at peace with neighbors, so yesterday when secretary pompeo came to u. N. Security council we are restoring the restrictions scheduled to expire in a few short weeks. Maria so let me ask you about the most recent peace deal was this in response to the piece detail announced by Administration Late last week . Yell probably a question for the regime we know that president rouhani threatened uae on a couple of days after the Peace Agreement was announced. One of the things that is important for people to understand, is that, you have to counter iran in the region if you want to get Peace Agreements between gulf, like uae and israel both viewed as betrayal of u. S. Security President Trump stood with allies, creates climate for Peace Agreements between gulf nations and israel. And by all accounts, this deal between uae and im significant many told me there are kinds considering recognizing israel can you ethical us who you think would be next, sources have said, that oman is poised, to have an agreement as well as bahrain, is that right . The well i am not getting into confidential bilateral discussions about it you are right about oman, netanyahu did visit oman with sultan, sudan also made very positive comments about trying to work toward peace with israel. This is broadly the direction that the region is heading. And this is the real defeat for iran, because, peace between are a is realees would be worst animator, 141 years trying to increase tensions were seeing a shift and this is this is a region that could stand have good news. Maria that is very promising so let me ask you about the impact sanctions snapback sanctions on iran will have, specific impact that you can can being and also are you expecting a retaliation from iran . O well i think President Trump to restore deterrents against iran so if thinking about doing something, that is genetic would be a great risk of the regime, so what weve done, yesterday, we started the process, to restore all United Nations sanctions lifted by president obama five years ago, that means there is going to be restrictions that are on iran around the arms embargo missile restrictions restoring travel ban asset freezes to get 22 iranian terrorists sanging iranian banks helped Irans Nuclear missile program. Thank you so much, joe biden, bringing his message to america last night, the former Vice President accepting the democratic nomination for president focusing on moving country forward he said he said he wants to move the country out of what he called the season of darkness, his speech capped off democrats Virtual Convention republicans ready to go monday with Convention Joining me right now prime time pairnz chairperson coare founder greycroft chairman emeritus Alan Patricof great to have you this morning thanks for joining me. Thanks, for inviting me on day following great speech last night. Exactly youve been, a real friend and o donor to democrats i wanted to get your take how they did this week, what your reaction was to joe bidens speech last night what did you think . I honestly was really surprised by how successful the Virtual Convention was i kind of missed there can because i have been at last several it is a lot of fun, and exciting. And it is a matter of adrenaline going that you get at convention obviously, that was impossible, i think they did very well i think, cam kamala did a great job bloomberg excelled joe came on as forceful as ever saying his focus getting people back to work, and creating jobs, and across the board, and he is also dealing with issue that you and i have discussed which is we have a problem of of those of us in top one percent i dont like admitting it covers a lot of people including you and me including you, as well as me, i should say. We all know that you know we need more fairness in the system. How it is addressed is something joe is going to address carefully has nothing to do with progressive or liberal it has to do with being fair. I know that top i think top 10 pay 70 of all taxes, so you are saying that you still dont think it is fair . No, not that not fair just that weve got a problem in those other 90 that you are talking about the middle class, the the legislator end of the income spectrum i mean you heard Mike Bloomberg say i am paying more tax i honestly think off camera you would say you are ready to pay more taxes if it would really help social i am not saying that no, i am not saying that alan i am not i am not saying that because i think that the top 10 pay 70 taxes the idea what is approach to lift bottom earners is it top paying more taxes or creating more opportunities for the bottom, to work, and create more opportunities for them to actually see, a higher earnings package overall . I guess one of the issues with joe bidens policies is this idea he does want to raise taxes alan he wants to raise four trillion dollars in new taxes, Elizabeth Warren talking you can about a wealth tax doesnt matter what you make what your income is this is about how much you are worth, how much you made over your lifetime, if it is above a certain number you are going to get hit with wealthy tax do you worry that raising taxes to that extent, is going to put a crimp into we whatever river we have that has started already alan . No i think it is going to help, ease social unrest going to deal with people will who arent making adequate living to survive in todays world with family whether family of four whatever, people can survive in a minimum wage that we had in place i think joe, i think is not trying to to mo more than President Trump wanted to reduce taxes specifically he wanted to do it to incentivize people at the top, joe wants to come up with a fair system, that will help to bring people up from the bottom, so that they can make a living wage, and i think that people on the top understand that, that is something has to happen if we want to have a a system where we have less protests less anger in the country, on people who are less fortunate but i think the most important thing is but the question how do you do it . Well i think. I agree with you i agree with you we need to lift the bottom but how do you do it. Making the top pay all taxes they are already paying or do you do it in a different way to create jobs in one of the issues issues with what i am hearing in terms of this week and the policies there wasnt much detail right alan . Do you know how he is going to create jobs in did he talk about what the policies are . Because one thing he side something that President Trump has been saying that is bring jobs back from china. But what what other ideas are there, actually to move the needle on the economy, other than what a plays really well with the populous that is let rich pay . Maria, you know lets go back four years President Trump said he was going to bring back all these manufacturing jobs bring back jobs in coal back in West Virginia what happened there, i think this is the before the fact i think joe has been around long enough to know weve got to Infrastructure Program putting people back to work whether it is socalled cleanh Green New Deal greening of america i think these are all going to create jobs and new technology, and a bunch of areas that are going to stimulate, productivity and and putting people back to work, i mean you know last week another million one unemployed unemployment claims i dont think that is going to end in near future either. Maria well, look before covid we had 3 1 2 Unemployment Rate show from the trump side they are going to say yeah, i promised this i got it there, then covid turned up have you seen any impact on your business as a result of covid . I want to ask about venture fund confessing on investing in products that indicator to aging population i love this you are innovator Services Related to aginging in place Financial Security for retirees Care ManagementLongevity Health services at core how do you invest in this theme alan . The thank you so much for asking. I have never been more excited about anything i have done, in the 50 yearsive been in this business. The and i leashed a new word last few days not the aging it is ageless population. People who are i like that. 60s older we are going to live forever i set a gooel 10 years ago to 114 have been public about it intend to do it, if you set a goal you will get there, we came up with this idea my partner abbey and myself, got together because we both had been thinking the same together in board of ariana huffingtons company thrive global, dealing with wellness, abbey soul cycle i and my wife has not been well a long time i got to ne more and more about the problem, people as aging, different kind of Services Products they need, and i looked around this was no venture for looking to do that everybody wanted to back young millennials, out of college, are to year, 30year olds to back new things like taking care of dogs, dealing with sexual problems whatever else, dating, but no one was dealing with older people thought this was a market that just wasnt interested in adapting to new things didnt have technological experience what we found out, has been accelerated this was done before covid, maria just in self mode covid added to this many, many more of older people learned to work on zoom, learned to work remotely, staying in the workforce. In addition to Products Services which i think is equally as exciting, is we are going to be open to backing older entrepreneurs made it in a career in a marker area instead of retiring want to do it all over aine, throloro r in sinesssi wneansstnessness go t y a team brut abobo thereha ppser thahapsnhapsnps 2a ygg entreprnteneunt in i i 6060 do bette tnn ntrepurs who shotartho faororor me,t rea got s eye, me off the dime start a fund to do this since we announced two weeks ago, the inbound of new startups Young Companies and people who say i get it, the concept has resonated so far beyond what i had hoped. I bet. It is a very exciting area. Maria i bet, fantastic idea first never heard of this idea leave it to you to once again tome up with untapped opportunity, for investors, alan going to talk more about this when you join me next week on wall street, i look forward to that, congrats, great to see you Alan Patricof joining are us there. Thank you for having me. From greycroft. Why getting on plane now is safer than you may think you are watching mornings with maria live on fox business, root rite. Election season for ages President Trump squares off against joe biden we will have every angle covered with expert analysis and allstar cast from Party Nominations to allimportant president ial debate on the scene until very last votes are could understand mornings with maria we are invested in you. Maria welcome back, coronavirus and children new Study Suggests kids who appear healthy may be more covid19 contagious than sick adults to growing evidence that kids are not immune may play a larger role in covid19 than thought joining us right now Infectious Disease expert senior scholar great to see you this morning your thoughts on this, as relates to children. To mystery with children especially younger children we know they can be infected carry virus in nose at high levels have not seen them drive outbreaks less than 6th grade age something very interesting we dont know the answers to, are because weve had Day Care Centers open throughout this pandemic, havent seen outbreaks something that i think priority to understand what role Children Play is it different than influenza or similar to influenza i dont think we completely know that yet. We have been talking all morning, about the chances of catching covid19 on a plane, are actually pretty slim according to new report, do you agree with that . So that i do think that planes have been kind of overstated as a risk, because everybody close together makes a lot of sense to think that you can get infected on plane it was people just next to you at risk from getting it we see with respiratory viruses primarily spreading through droplets with individuals beside you you can mitigate hand washing face coverings skoshl distancing on plane i think airline went above and beyond to make safety priority i think less risk than many people think i think we will learn more about what roll they play i dont think a major risk for transmission right now. Vice president mike pence just told us likely to get a vaccine by yearend fda looking at a saliva test approving that your thoughts on a vaccine, this year . I do think if everything goes pefl phase three clinical trails may be one or two candidates eligible for fdifferentlya emergency use authorization in this country we may have batches of virus trickle out for Health Care Workers not entire country by the end of the year do i think probably for the entire population to be vaccinated probably two doses that is going to take probably well into 2021 we will see certain pockets get vaccinated priority groups sometime that fighting this virus without a vaccine. Yeah i mean question is once we get it how do we know everybody is going to take it, doctor great to see you this morning thank you, sir. We will see you you soon highlight from interview with Vice President mike pence after this gop gears up for Convention Next week, stay with us. Experience the ultimate sports hub. Tackling china role in covid19 speaking with Vice President mike persons touched several topics importance never underestimating china. Speak about china joe biden never talked about china in his speech. About coronavirus came from china when President Donald Trump before the end of january suspended all travel from china, joe biden said it was xenophobic. For months and months he criticized the president s steps in in suspending all travel no president in American History had ever done it before china is the second largest economy in the world but President Donald Trump said we are going to put the health of America First. James freeman reaction going to see what was o mitdz just as much whats was discussed this week at the dnc. A yeah, i think, when you talk about the virus response the former Vice President seems to want to make the center of candidacy you do that truly raises questions how he responded to same day that trump travel reduction were announced last winter, i also think the Vice President is going to say that corona deaths are the fault of the president he probably will also have to explain why in democratic states of new york and new jersey, the results have been so much worse in terms of are mortality than anywhere else in the country. Yeah. For more on china, as well as the last four years be sure to preorder our new book the cost trump china and american revival cowritten by James Freeman and myself out in october you can preorder it right now james word about the book the cost. Yeah, i think all issues debating this week and that were hearing on democrat side will hear from next week from the the republicans, are really front and center in the book in terms of the economic choices we face, the tradeoffs the costs benefits, of freedom versus more active government i think this will be very relevant i hope readers enjoy it certainly enjoyed working on it with you. Maria and i as well, liz peek talk to us about some issues, because, you are not hearing about the crime in in our big cities, at dnc you didnt hear about china we will probably hear a lot with next week your takeaways. I certainly hope we hear a lot about it next week, there is another reason, that joe biden isnt talking about china, on agencies have determined that china is working on joe bidens behalf they want to see him elected in other words, it is what russia he supposedly did to boost donald trump in 2016, democrats are afraid that gets out because americans are really turned against china for so many appropriate reasons, and joe biden has been enabler of china all along i think he has a lot to answer for here, and, by the way, in terms of the democrats cities democrat led cities violence there, you know, look, it is policies that are driving that when you take cops off the streets, and you let criminals out of jail, surprise, surprise, crime goes up. And maria they made a big pitch for black voters, during the past four days, black neighborhoods have been impacted much more than white neighborhoods by that surge in crime.
