Chair of the program in business and finance at the king college in manhattan fox news contradict tore professor brian, and ubs private welt advisor alley mckearney great to see all of you bright and early on not even bright but it is dark out. On a monday morning but ed to you first what the president did over the weekend in these executive olders, is it more political than it is financial . Does it make a difference . Well, i think this week will mac a difference. I think theres still a negotiating mode on the stimulus package. I think the president ask trying to put more pressure on the democrats to come to terms with his administration on another stimulus package. Look, the stock markets up 51 from its march 23rd low if you look at the s p 500. Were probably going to make a new high this week. Were just a few point away just a hair away from all time record high, which is really quite remarkable. Markets already factored in that more stimulus it coming even though it is not here yet. Yeah i think so one way or other whether it is by executive orders or by some deal thats work out with democrat and republicans more stimulus is coming. What about on the Federal Reserve side, monetary side. What more can the central bank do what is the market anticipating there . Well, you know fed made it clear ever since march 23rd thats what the announce what i call forever its and open ended program that theyre in now. They have slowed the pace at which theyre buying treasuries and another security. But if things start to get unsettled again, and we instead of making two steps forward one step back we go other way make two steps backwards, the fed is perfectly ready to provide more liquidity into the system. Brian brenburg jump in. Talk a little bit about what happened this fall if we actually get a Meaningful School reopening. You get parents going back to work. Youve got the back to school shop and youve got the Consumer Spending again. Is that into wall street forecast and what difference does that make . I think thats a big known unknown that were about to, you know, know a lot more about. Clearly, if go back to school and it turns out that the virus spreads through the schools and then comes back home, and were forced to cut back on opening up the schools, that would be a big setback. So its going to be a very important issue here i dont think markets really discounted whether it goes well or not at this point. I think its an open question. Dagen alley mccartney . Markets are pricing in a relatively process scenario to your point there. Maybe not a vaccine in three to six months maybe a vaccine in 6 to 9 but i think your point about whats happening in washington it is very important. What happens what do you think downside is this week and beyond if we dont get whats expected out of washington and now that weve already seen a week no incremental employment insurance . Well, my thinking is that theres plenty of evidence that the recovery has at least slowed down if not actually stalled. I watch, for example, all of the frequent indicators that we have one of my paiferts is gasoline usage thats flattened out for the past three weeks. But thats after a pretty good recovery. To your point if we get this appointments here on stimulus we get no stimulus or were just going to left with the president s executive orders, and a lot of issues about whether he has that kind of power. It could be a setback for the market. But whats really driven the market here is trending here a trillion there. We stl have the cares act. Theres still plenty of money that the cares act is provided the fed to leverage up into loans. So the fed is still there and thats really whats been driving market to i think what i think were going make new record high this week. Before we go, you mentioned we were talking about the vaccine and Goldman Sachs out with a new note saying that it expects at least one vaccine to be approved but the end of the year. Leading to higher gains for 2021. Is that also playing into the opt mechanism that were seeing in the market and thats absolutely. Yeah. I think the perception is that were not going to be living with this virus for years to come. But that there will be a vaccining. Look, as ive said a trillion here trillion there is what the fed and monetary fiscal policy have been providing and in addition to that spending billions on vaccines and theres what sew or so in the race, and few of them four of them that are in phase three. So i think it is reasonable to expect that were going to get a vaccine and that should confirm what the market has been discounting that that we will get through this. Great to see you this morning. Have a terrific week come back soon. Were just Getting Started this morning coming up the best way to cover up. Were looking at n95 and kn95 mask what you need to know about keeping them clean. Dagen grim milestone coronavirus cases in the United States topping more than 5 million. The state of texas reporting a record hike in infections. And the number of children in the u. S. Becoming infected jumping 40 in late july. According to the American Academy of peed yacht treks the schools across country prepare to reopen. Joining us now texas congressman house energy and Commerce Committee member medical doctor Michael Burgess congressman, and doctor, good to see you this morning what do you make of the statistics . Of course texas is a big state and different in different parts of the state in my area more northern texas case have been declining over the past several weeks. But if you look at across the board just texas began to open up again early may. And didnt really see an increase in cases in the middle of june. Were not seeing all of the protest and keeking into gear. Heres the thing more testing could it be done absolutely could. You know tests that will tell you just that you need to get further testing not that you have an exact diagnosis of coronavirus, those types of testing can be vastly expanded because they dont meet certification or fda approval i think thats one of the area where we need to be focusing because with additional testing when we can get additional we can get additional control over this. Ultimately the vaccine is the way out. Dagen are you seeing enough people Wearing Masks where you are . Yeah. Its its ubiquitous nearly in fact, i have got that to go into a store and havent had a mask on and right around and gone back to pick up the mask. I dont wear when im in the car or by myself because that seems over the top but no as far as in stores, and out in public mask could become ubiquitous everyone wears them. I want to talk about the new covid19 aid bill that is in a stalemate in congress. This, of course, following president signing of related executive orders, further negotiations are still possible. Heres maria with senator with mccarthy not senator congressman, on sunday morning futures yesterday. Tack a listen to this. Sure. Why couldnt the democrats and republicans come together on the much needed stimulus . Well, its not something unusual. Remember every time weve done legislation when it comes to covid, nancy pelosi has always held it up for her own personal wish list now what President Trump did he really showed he was the one person in the room that put people before pleks. He said you know what, im going to continue to help those unemployment and if youre going to continue to play these games im going to take action and put America First instead of your own personal ambitions. Dagen congressman ill let lee carter jump in here because are executive orders really more of a political benefit than an check or Financial One given we dont know how theyre implemented but president looks like hes doing something while people in congress ringer that hands. Theres no question about it that this is a net positive for the president. I think that Many Americans are very, very frustrated that congress hangts made a move and worried about Congress Going into recess without an answer. That i think the president did very, very smart political thing and i think hes going get a lot of credit for this. The question i think a lot of americans have right now is what is Congress Going to do on the other side continue fighting or find a way to support this . Dagen you can answer that congressman. [laughter] smart answer would be well take the president s lead and continue to build on that. I do think that the president did give additional leverage toward getting a deal done. Remember, this has been tied up for months by nancy pelosi, and you know on to look at where the problem is, thats where the problem is. And very clearly, current speaker ab scribes to old never let a good crisis go to waste she saw a Good Opportunity in may to get everything weve wanted as lecial democrats lets put it all in one bill and put it out there and dare them not to vote on it thats what they did and shame of it is weve worked together on all of the other response bills up until that time. But this one was different. They overreached, and now they wont come back to the table i think the president and the jobs numbers are going to combine to force people back to the table. Congressman Michael Burgess thank you for being here this morning great to see you coming up who knew what and when senator Lindsey Graham revealing new documents to maria showing what he calls new crimes in getting fisa warrant to surveil carter paige. Breaking news on sunday morning futures senator Lindsey Graham telling maria yesterday newly declassified documents reveal what he calls new crimes committed by the fbi. And pursuit of fisa warrants on former Trump Campaign aid carter page. Listen to this. Tell us what these redacted documents tell us. Well, here they are. It took me forever to get them. I want to thank attorney barr for helping me retrieve them from the fbi but it was hearth found information in 2018 where the fbi was called to the Senate Intel Committee because people were getting suspicious about the sub source, russian guy that Intel Committee level and fbi was sent over to brief them, and this is the report they prepared before the briefing and they did to the Senate Intel Committee the fbi did what they did to the fisa court. They misled the hell out of them. They said that theres no evidence from the sub source to suggest that still fabricated anything in the dossier. Actually, the sub source said it was all bar talk here say, speculation, and conjecture and the whole Sexual Activity of the president was made unjust so they completely misrepresented to the Senate Intel Committee in 2018 what the sub source told the fbi and 2017, that is a new crime a different crime and im going to write a letter to christopher rage, and ask him who gave the briefing to the Senate Intel Committee and 2018 and how could they be telling the Senate Intel Committee in 2018 a bunch of lies with when they knew better . Lee, how does this all play out and who pays . Well, i think that the bottom line is this, i think that theres a lot of folks on the right who are very, very upset and up in arms about this and then most americans it is just going rights over their heads and not because theyre not paying attention and not because it doesnt matter. It is because the republicans and lindsay grandmother and others who are involved in this arent making it easy for us to understand what the real issue is here when i talk to a lot of votes about this and i have over time it might not have been right way to go about it and what they found is wrong and bottom lean is this ever Lindsey Graham talking about they need to make it easy to understand what real problem is and thats not happening so i think for the most part this isnt a beg issue in mind of voters as they go to vote in november. But brian it should be shouldnt it . Again it was a phony dossier that was paid for by the Clinton Campaign. Hillary Clinton Campaign that was then used funneled through the fbi and used to spy on her opponent. How is that not, how is that not a breathtaking political scandal . Well its a shame that its not a bigger story and part of the reason is because the fbi has made it pin credibly difficult to investigate whats geng on. I mean, it has taken us this long to figure out that in 2018 the fbi misled the Senate Intelligence committee on the sub sources view of the steal dossier. I know all of that is complicated but fact is theres bad behavior here. The question is who from the fbi briefed the intelligence committee. They lied and the American People ought to know that because this is, you know, this is their government. Question rely on the fbi to do real work to keep us safe. And the fact is, theres a political agenda there that the investigators in the senate cant even get information on when its timely and it is no surprise the American People dont get it because fbi apparently is trying to make sure they dont get it. What if republicans lose the senate in november . Then what happens . I mean who, you know who is going to pursue this it is clear that the other Party Democrats do not want to pursue this, and we just lost the opportunity to root out some incredibly bad behavior at the highest level of government. There are big Unanswered Questions with big name people. We need the answers to these things. It is moving way too slow. Parking lots interview with Lindsey Graham was great but moving way too sleen lee is right thats why it has not gotten thetrack it should have. Thank you both. Coming up joe biden veep speculation whos on short ligs and why it is so important to voters. And fancy coverup, price tag of this mask making a buzz this morning. Welcome back im Dagen Mcdowell in for Maria Bartiromo monday august 10 9 lets take a look at where your markets are at 6 30 a. M. Eastern. These number are released by commune fist government keep in mind. For that and lets go to Cheryl Casone shes watching a setback for east man kodak with a high profile loan agreement. Cheryl has those details. Cheryl thats right dagen this story is really developed over weekend in particular the u. S. International Development FinanceCorporation Plan to loan 765 million to eastern kodak to produce drug imreents at its factories now they say there are, quote, serious concerns about this. The deal come under congressional regulatory scrutiny the Exchange Commission is investigating how kodak controlled disclosure of the loans word on the deal merge on july 27th stock price rose 25 on the news. The way for the white house heating up joe biden leading President Trump in both pennsylvania and wisconsin by 6 points in each state according to a new cbs news Battleground Tracker poll. Voters in these states have changed their minds before and the outcome is anything but certain. For one biden upcoming Vice President ial pick has the potential to move things as nearly half of his voters say it is important to them. Joinings now democratic strategist and rebel communications ceo, laura. Laura but in a lot of these polls i will point out that that joe biden, Vice President s lead has been narrowing. Overall in the real clear politics average of all polls but also in key balings ground states leak florida. Also a tightening in pennsylvania, and wisconsin. What do you make of that . I think if youre holding ton waiverring of a National Poll average when youre down 6 points of points youre down six points you should be worried about it thats a significant National Poll margin that looks like if election were held tomorrow and those numbers held up, it would be a landslide so donald trump significantly in the hole in both Battle Ground states and national at the National Level so hes he needs to be make corrections thats really about his performance. His failure to contain coronavirus the 30 million american it is that are receiving aid right now that 16 million that are 100 out of work. Those are the people that he needs to talk to. All of the impact of the 5 million that have been diagnosed with coronavirus. This is a refer dumb on his performance and right now the voters are saying no. If youre going talk about aid lapsing how is that also not the responsible of congress which is run by the democrats nancy pelosi, and her well, the house is run by nancy pelosi and her ilk and did get democrats debt a bill to Mitch Mcconnell but right now trump isnt involved in the conversation youve got mnuchin down on the hell look with mark meadows theyve come to negotiations have come to a grinding halt and frankly, nancy pelosi and democrats are in the seat because republicans are divided. Republicans need democrats to support the bill in the senate where it has stalled. And the fact is that they cant get their things together and king the art the deal is nowhere to be found. You know when youre signing executive orders, that are really fairytales out of your golf course that is not what American People need and, in fact, he will be measured not on his press conferences leak that, but instead on whether or not those paycheck landed american mailboxes in the coming weeks. Dagen well administration wants to extend republicans proposed renewing the federal benefit at 400 a week and the democrats said no go. They were not willing to separate that large three of that trillion dollar bill that they passed in late may, and so you can point fingers all you want. But those benefits disappeared and the democrats have to accept at least some of the responsibility. And President Trump at least in deferring payroll tax thats within his purview this was that payroll on tax deferment was actually used earlier this year. Used the authority to postpone a series of the spring tax lines so we can go back and forth on that but again if the democrats think that this is all the republicans responsibility, they might have another thing coming lee karster how do you see it . Well the way i see is is this i think if president understands symbolic gesture and owning conversation and having everyone react to him. And i think in this moment, thats a power of what he just did with executive order i think now everybody sells on heals having to react to what president did. Democrats are going to have to answer why theyre in connectiog and dont want to the increase or dont want to do the 400 in spend and dont want to do payroll tax you have to answer the question. And ting that president understands importance of this and i also think that it is really important as of as we can talk about pollings as run aways who are biden i cant look at it in the same way because if you look at the numbers with Hillary Clinton was just at the same time in 2016 you see a very, very similar and, in fact, many states is better than biden is in florida ahead by nine and find today only ahead by four. So with ahead by five and in wisconsin so ahead in pennsylvania and ahead in arizona so i think that you really need to be very careful what about were looking at polls because when you look at other polls whether you look at other things that are out there with number of people who are still you want to talk the silent majority. I do think that is important that people still see that a third of american are afraid to show real opinion for backlash and 50 of democrats say you should fire individuals who support the president. A third of republicans are saying to fire people who support democrats. There are divided in thats simply not the reality found in reality. The challenge is numbers are real because of the pandemic and because the economic crisis and listen, you know, the other big thing in that bell that we didnt talk about was state aid. You know, i was saying that selectively members are not but all numbers are not real . Hundreds of cars that line up for hours and one of the families that was in line was a woman from a red part of my county from the city of santee she was a librarian and husband was a probation officer has been laid office and they were reliant not only on the federal aid but also on those boxes of food they were in line to get. You know, this is a crisis that is impacting American Families across the board. And that is not welfare i talk about that i talk about going to need that check in the mail. That is when you have this unemployment the bully pulpit of the president you need to leave and seen failures of leadership and everybody seems to be loud these days with respect to their views. So you think you can put that in the bank. Dagen every thursday when unemployment jobless benefits numbers come out weve been more than we understand what people are going through. But ill point out that l 0 billion dollars is still lefting over in the money that was allocated in the cares act to state and local government so that 80 billion dollars hasnt even been spent yet, and lee i want to give you, i want to give lee a chance to respond because lee is in the business of taking polls. And so when you start, lee, dismissing oh well thats you know that poll doesnt matter. But the poll that benefits your candidate does. Please speak to that. Liability of the numbers lee karster. Yeah. What i heard you just say is you cant listen to numbers that thats not true. The truth is that people have a perception whether or not thats real. Whether or not democrats are, thats what people believe many this moments thats according to katoa and interesting poll that i think we need to take seriously. The people of this country are feeling divided and real opinions and im not saying that joe biden is not ahead in the polls but im simply saying we cant relies on those numberses and same as as we would before as i absolutely dont topght take away from pain of the American People pain of the American People is very real right now. And i think those stores are heartbreaking and i do believe and you are absolutely right that the American People are demanding that something gets done it is going to be better than whats happening today theres a huge number of people who dont appreciate what the president has done but theres 78 of republicans who say that the president has done a good job soening that we have to really be careful about how why pressures on what state of this country is and where were going and i do believe because of peoples uncertainty about joe biden a lot of people are saying i dont know exactly what hes going to do but i dont know what his plans are i dont know what that means for the economy but heres why president could be more important than usual. Thank you, lee. Thank you laura thanks for coming on. Coming up, big win for golfer colin moore this weekend pga tournament what happened to the trophy is making a buzz this morning. Youre watching mornings with maria live on fox business. Hitting the road rv popular popularity exploding airstream, saying record sales joining us now airstream president ceo bob weller. Bob how much are sales up, say from a year ago . Well, weve had this stunning kind of whiplash affect six week was shutdown because of stay at home orders but when we came back, month of may turned out to be the best retail month in the companys history. We beat year over year numbers by 49 . And then we went on to beat that in june beating year over year number by 110 so remarkable recovery things look rosy for this industry and stream moving forward. I think we have airstream fan on the program this morning Brian Brenberg you know it. And the spiring airstream owner bob, great to see you. I spent the week at a state park in minnesota this week, and it was shocking to me and actually really wonderful to see so many people out. You know so many rvs so many campers, saw a lot of airstreams theres clearly a surge here. This looks like the kind of thing that can be a hook for a generation to rediscover you know vacationing in the airstream vacations in rv but how do you sustain this because it could be a blip as well and you have an opportunity here to lock people in if what is airstream doing to make this a Generational Movement and not just a temporary adaptation . Brian thats a great question you get the nail on the head for what our strategic look is moving forward. All of these people are coming to lifestyle because theyve been forced there by the pandemic. We dont pretend anything different but create a great experience for them to fall in the lifestyle and stay. If we do this right were building our business for next 20 years we can have all of these new byes because they dont have other choices lets get them to fall in love with it and be repeat customers forever so giving new customers support making sure they feel comfortable. They know where to gothon where to have a good time and connect with airstream community a great source of support. It is really getting them integrated with brand to make it sticky. Dagen alley get in here. First of all i think your products are beautiful and i think, you know, your story to the point made it to interesting because we keep on talking about when we were returned to normal. When the world normalizes, but i think airstream is a great example of on one side this airline is on other, you know, there are some things that never return to normal. So you know, how do you think about about that in terms of your product . Youre absolutely right we think this shift this reconnection with travel domestically and travel to outdoor spaces here thats here for a long team and i think people started to move away from this lifestyle somewhat it is a lot of options but forced back into the situation to about this, you know, social distancing, and being away from other families traveling with your own environment controlling your own environment some of that is going to stick around for some time and even when that starts to tapper off if people have fallen in love with able to control your own schedule travel where you want and and tbrork road a huge trend now in our product of people that theyve been given work from home opportunities, they are realizing i can tbrork anywhere. So if we can get some of these things to stick in the way that lifestyle is sustainable this will go on for who knows how long and for the airstream and whole industry. Bob ive been saying for 30 years before you go overseas make sure to see this great land of ours because theres nothing more breathtaking than being able to drive across this country and see the sites meet the people. President trump signing executive orders over the weekend, providing Coronavirus Relief as congress failed to strike an aid deal. The orders provide unemployment expansion of 400 a week, eviction assistance, they defer payroll taxes and student loan payments through the end of the year. Mark, what do you make of this . How does this impact markets . Well, i think it might calm markets and help people be a little more optimistic. But in reality, we need to be looking for longterm solutions, not shortterm bandaids and in this case, you have unintended consequences. You have people that are going to maybe not pay their mortgages, not go back to work. These are incentives matter so its critical to get the only thing thats going to fix this thing longterm thats going to help the economy is getting people back to work. Im not a doctor but i know about the economy. Youve got to get kids back to school. So many parents cant go back to work. And until we really get past this coronavirus and move on, its a serious disease, but until we move past it, this thing is not going to go anywhere. Dagen were going to talk about vaccines coming up. Lets talk about tiktok, vying for tiktok. Twitter entering the race to acquire the video sharing app. Microsoft has been in talks with bytedance to buy the platforms u. S. Operations for several weeks. Twitter eyeing help from Investment Firms like Silicon Valley giant sequoia capital. What are you watching . Im not sure where the valuation is going to come out on this. If i had a better horse in the racy would say microsoft. Theyve got the pockets for this, 136 billion in cash, a 1. 6 trillion market cap. Its not surprising that twitter if they want to get involved, theyre going to have to partner up with somebody and sequoia is a natural fit, they already have a 10 stake in the parent company, bytedance. But for my money, twitter has not had a great reputation of monetizing assets and they dont have a formidable video platform. Microsoft has been in social media before. They had a 27 billion acquisition of linkedin and early investment in facebook. My money is on them. Dagen finally, the race for a vaccine, Goldman Sachs releasing a new note to start the week, saying it expects at least one vaccine to be approved by the end of of the year leading to higher gains for 2021. Katherine, is this already factored into the market . Because literally everyone i talk to, whether its in, like, business, in finance, in medicine, theyre all this is all the expectation and its not just one vaccine, its possibly two or more. Yes, i think a vaccine is priced into the market but fundamentally it would give a leg up, sustainable leg up to the consumption question, consumption is of course the main driver of the u. S. Economy. What i think portfolios need to start incorporating into their strategy is the up flag the infy impact of fiscal stimuli of which were still talking despite the anticipation of a virus. Were talking about additional fiscal stimulus package of 1 to 3 trillion. Theres an inflationary component here. I think portfolios need to consider. One more point, dagen, 30 , this fridays bureau of economic analysis, the share of income derived from government benefits jumped 30 since the month of april. In the month of june, we had 865 billion in deficit. That compares to 1 trillion in the year of 2019. So were already making Lehman Brothers debacle look like childs play in terms of fiscal and monetary stimuli, yet were talking of more, despite the anticipation of the vaccine and a vshaped recovery. That leads to inflation. That is something that portfolios are not considering in this moment in time. Dagen where would you allocate your money as an inflation hedge, if you will . Sure. So ive been of course talking about gold for months. Its done well. So there are other guys now considering this inflationary impact, no one is really talking about it. Portfolios are starting to look at this question, dagen. But if we do get inflation, the fed, even though its expanded its mandate beyond its twofold legally mandated mandate which is both of course 2 inflation and full employment, if we do get inflation of over the course of the next 12 to 18, 24 months, who can predict it, the fed should hike rates. If you hike rates, then you get that premium between equities and treasuries dissipate, causing a fall in equity markets. My point is, cash is not a bad option. If you have seen a rally of 45 in your equities from march 23rd, realized some profits, build up cash position, start to invest in uncorrelated assets such as private equity, right, and do buy gold. Because i think gold, dagen, can hit 3,000, maybe even more under my scenario. Dagen katherine, thank you for that. Katherine vara, thank you one and all. Dagen taking matters into his own hains, President Trump signing a number of executive orders on covid19 relief on saturday. New coronavirus aid talks stalling in congress, although further negotiations are possible. The president s orders offer expanded Unemployment Benefits, eviction protection, and a payroll tax holiday. Joining me now, former white house chief of staff, former director of the office of management and budget, Mick Mulvaney. Great to see you. Your thoughts on these executive orders and to what extent they could actually be implemented, particularly the payroll tax holiday and the extra 400 in Unemployment Benefits. Yeah, dagen, good morning. Thanks for having me. Looking at them over the weekend it was nay fascinating to see hw they structured them. It looks like money is coming from money that approac approprn the cares act. Its a powerful piece of legislation that when Congress Passed many years ago gave every administration a great deal of authority and great deal of discretion. Thats where the moneys coming for example under the executive order for the extensions to the Unemployment Benefits. The cares act back in the springtime appropriated roughly 150 billion in that area to dhs, less than half of it, less than half has already been spent. What it looks like the president s trying to do is go in there and say okay, ill redirect the money that congress has appropriated. Looks like it could be fairly well backed up legally. I havent had the chance to do the cross references and so forth. Its something the Budget Office used to work on all the time. My guess is theyve done their homework and could make most of it stick. Dagen you have to have democratic governors get onboard because the 400 weekly payment which would replace the 600 in Unemployment Benefits, 25 has to be funded by the states, even if the money is there left over from the cares act, of course Governor Cuomo rejected the plan as just an impossibility. He said that over the weekend. So its to what extent that governors step up and states step up to make these benefits happen, but then also on the payroll tax side, whether the companies out there across the land deduct that money or basically let that payroll tax holiday go into effect for the workers so they get the benefit. Sure. Well deal with the first one first which is the governors. I saw what Governor Cuomo said. I guess thats fine. Hes governor of his state. He has the right not to participate in this program. I think it would be very difficult for him to continue that, if he turns out to be wrong and you go to a state like South Carolina where i am and the governors a republican, decides to work with the federal government to get that extra supplement. And if it starts working in those states it will be difficult for the blue state governors to stay on the sidelines and face it, lets be candid with each other, theres certainly an amount of politics here that even surprises me and i thought i was one of the least naive people in washington, d. C. To not have any legislation before this august vacation started really surprised even me. I didnt realize that mrs. Pelosi and mr. Schumer were that dug in on refusing to negotiate. My gut is the president tried to meet in the middle and that the democrat leadership in the house and senate refused to compromise. That surprised even me. The politics is still there. I dont think the governors can hold out if other states are making it work. Dagen ill get to the business question in a minute. Why didnt the senate, the senate republicans, Mitch Mcconnell, take up that 3 andahalf trillion dollar bill that was passed by nancy pelosi in the house in late may. Why didnt the negotiations on getting something done, another stimulus done start . Why wasnt that happening all of june and all of july . Well, keep in mind, i think the way washington has worked over the last couple years, ive been there about 10 years, i guess, is that a lot of negotiation goes into legislation before the legislating starts. You sort of want to know where youre going before you start the legislation. And thats exactly what happened here. The house passed something. Listen, we used to do it when i was in the house, the republicans were in control of the house and barack obama was president. We would send messaging documents, messaging sledge layingmessaging legislationall o chance of becoming law and thats what the democrats did on the 3 trillion number. Thats outrageous, unnecessary and they knew it. Though were votes they took in order to satisfy their primary voters in the spring. Fine. We used to do the same thing. That doesnt mean that there werent discussions going on, much earlier, before the summertime over what might come next. Yes, you heard much mcconnell say in the springtime, lets slow things down and take a look. I think that continues to be the right attitude because, again, more than half of the cares money hasnt flown out yet. The money we talked about to dhs is just one example of several of much of the money from the spring legislation hasnt left the government coffers yet. Slow was probably a good strategy going into it. I was surprised there wasnt more compromise by the democrats at the end. Dagen everybody in washington including the republicans knew the 600 extra per week was going to expire at the end of july. We dont have time to get into the debate about how many people just chose not to go back to work even if they were recalled because they were making more money at home on unemployment than in their jobs. Nevertheless, it hurt Many Americans who are relying on the extra money. From this day forward remarks do you think happens in terms of some sort of stimulus compromise, do you think that that does happen and kind of trumps, no pun intended, the executive orders from over the weekend . Yeah, dagen, very quickly on the 600, keep in mind one of the things the republicans, the white house offered was a shortterm extension to get us through august and the democrats wouldnt talk about that again, i try not to be naive. That surprised me. Those are usually the types of deals that washington gets done especially in august. Going forward, whats the prospect for another stimulus . I dont know. I think it depends on how much of the what happened on saturday sinks in. If the unemployment supplement works, if the money for the rental assistance or the rental protection works, if the student loan forgiveness works, you really it obviates another bill in the fall. So it should be very interesting to see where the political blame lies. When the republicans were in charge of the house, and major legislation didnt get passed even though a democrat was in the white house, the republicans in the house got blamed. Now it seems like the republicans are in charge of the white house and they seem to be getting blamed for this even though the democrats control the house. I think the media spin on this will have a lot to do with whether or not something gets done in the springtime. Dagen mick, great to see you. Thank you so much. We didnt even get into debt discussions because, again, that doesnt seem to matter to a whole lot of folks these days but it will eventually. So mick, please come back. There will be plenty of need for it, thats for sure. Dagen coming up, jimmy lai under arrest again, this time is different. We explain, next. Dont just think about where youre headed this summer. Dagen breaking overnight, hong kong businessman and activist jimmy lai arrested under suspicion of colluding with Foreign Forces this is the first time hes been arrested since the new National Security law went into effect. The entrepreneur and apple daily founder appearing many times on this program. Back in may, Maria Bartiromo discussed lais ongoing fight with authorities. Heres what he said. Maria can you first tell us how are you doing . There are reports that they want to arrest you. Tell us about your own safety and whats happening on the ground in hong kong. People have two choices. Either to emigrate or stay and fight. Im going to stay and fight. Its becoming very dangerous. Dagen joining me now, author gordon chang. Gordon, put this in perspective. This is important because as you pointed out, jimmy lai has been arrested so many times before. Hes been arrested under the colonial era sedition acts, hes been arrested for fraud, a trumped up charge. This is the first time hes been arrested under the National Security law and he can face a life sentence. Now, what china tried to do was it arrested not only jimmy but his sons and other executives of apple daily which is the primary prodemocracy paper in hong kong. It tried to decapitate the pay teapaperso it cant survive. I think what theyre trying to do is end all lib effort. Where theyre doing liberty and where theyre doing that is get rid of the media. Dagen did we all see this coming at least outside of communist china where theres free press, say in the United States. Thats an important question you ask, dagen and the answer is yes, jimmy knew this was coming. It was only a question of when. It came i think a little sooner than most people expected. But this is what people knew beijing would do. Dagen why is this happening now, that is always the central question. What is china doing, why now . Why did it come sooner than expected as you said . Well, because last week the United States sanctioned carrie lam, the chief executive of hong kong and 10 others, they did that pursuant to President Trumps july 14th executive order. This was a quick retaliation. But in the larger scheme of things, hong kong has been an endangered society for a long time. Beijing felt it could no longer allow any sort of prodemocracy force in the territory. The larger reason is they were going at some point to do this. The why now is because of the sanctions last week. Dagen the Chinese Foreign ministry also saying u. S. Sanctions on hong kong and chinese officials are violating International Law. Now in return, sanctioning u. S. Lawmakers including senators ted cruz, marco rubio and tom cotton. Again, how hot does this get . Because this is clearly a back and forth titfortat. Im sure that those senators are going to wear those sanctions with pride, as they wore the sanctions over sinjong with pride. The important this is beijing did not sanction any Trump Administration officials. I think china is trying to sort of do the minimum and one of the interesting things is despite all the tension weve seen between the United States and china recently, beijing has not done very much. There have been a lot of hot words but thats really been the extent of things. So right now there are a lot of people who are happy that they were sanctioned. Its going to help them and beijing realizes i think that it doesnt have very many cards to play. Dagen gordon, great to see you. Thank you so much. Gordon chang. Well see you soon. One in four millennial said they have taken on more debt during the pandemic. The average u. S. Household has 5 5,700 in credit card debt. Those are your headlines. Back to you. Dagen getting kids back in class. Schools reopening, causing controversy around the country but backtoschool shopping not so controversial. Parents are expected to spend more than 1,000, 200 more than last year, according to the International Council of shopping centers. Joining us now, the ceo of the International Council of shopping centers, tom mcgee. Tom, how is it possible with so many people out of work because of the pandemic shutdown that folks are spending more this year than last . First of all, good morning, dagen. Thanks for having me on. I think a lot of this has to do with the unconventional nature of this years school year. Youre going to see parents spend a lot more on things Like Electronics and furniture as they adopt to new schooling methods. Obviously, a lot of kids are going to be schooling from home or in some type of hybrid method and that puts increased premium on electronics and having the infrastructure, the furniture and so forth to conduct schooling. Thats whats driving the increase. Despite i think youre right, a great level of Economic Uncertainty on the part of consumers right now. Dagen Allie Mccartney . Allie yes. So what happens if people go back to school and then dont end up staying there . Do you think that the amount has to increase . Do you think it comes from the school . What happens . Well, you know, its a good question, allie. I think there is a lot of i think a lot of uncertainty in the minds of consumers right now and i think that the amount that they spend is still somewhat dependent. 65 of folks have not yet done their backtoschool shopping so i think a lot of this is dependent as they get instructions from the School District in regards to what type of method of schooling will be adopted this fall. But i think generally speaking if you, as a parent, people are going to lean into their kids education and i think generally speaking that focus upon electronics is going to be front and center. I mean, theres no doubt that whether were at some type of hybrid method or using home schooling as the primary method that the focus upon le electrons and need for technology is going to be front and center. Dagen Brian Brenberg, youve got kids, how are you preparing . Jump in. Brian i want to ask tom about this. Because it seems to me that parents arent buying things that they think theyre going to need six months from now. Theyre buying things they think theyre going to need next week. Thats what its been like for us. Which means you might not have as big of a shopping season on the front end but it might extend longer many what kind of dynamic does that create for cree tailors . Create for retailers . I think thats a very good point. I think thats relevant for backtoschool and i think relevant for retail in general. I mean, people are having a difficult time planning for the future, just because of the uncertainty around it and its a little bit more just in time type of environment. I think that plays to some of the broader trends that are happening in retail in general. Whether its the convergence of online, physical, su curbside pickup, people are doing things in a just in time fashion and backtoschool is consistent with that. I think there is just a great deal of uncertainty in the minds of consumers now. If you look at all of our surveys, not just the backtoschool survey, we survey consumers every two weeks and certainly over the last number of surveys that weve performed, that level of uncertainty about the future, about the state of the recovery, that anxiety about that has increased tremendously. Thats why i know you talked today about Government Action and the relief bill. I think that thats front and really important that the government do act and have some type of Recovery Program in place including the continuation of the Payroll Protection Program or payroll protection plus, like the restart act or the Small Business comeback act thats so important. Dagen one trend you didnt mention is the slew of retail bankruptcies that weve seen during this pandemic. If you go through the list, niemann marcus, one major one of the majors that has filed for bankruptcy, more recently lord and taylor. Do you see this stopping . You know, i think that those retailers that went into the pandemic struggling certainly theres been an acceleration of those challenges. So i really think when you look back at whats happened, is youve seen a couple years of change happen within a number of months, because of the stress that is put upon the retail environment. I think the retailers that you mentioned were struggling before the pandemic began. Others were strong. I think theyve been able to manage through this. My biggest concern right now are those retailers that went into the pandemic in relatively stable fashion including Small Business, which is 70 of the tenants in shopping center, open air malls across the country that are really challenged right now because of the uncertainty that exists and the challenge around retail in general as we fight the pandemic. Dagen spea. Dagen speaking o, amazon is looking at turning shuttered stores into fulfillment centers, according to reporting from the wall street journal. Lee carter, get in. Lee yeah, i think its a really, really fascinating thing, talking about Small Businesses, youre talking about amazon coming in and taking over these spaces and were talking about the future of retail. A lot of the companies that weve seen that were struggling before were because they didnt move to be where the customer is today. Are you seeing any innovations in the shopping centers, innovations in short order that have bee creative ways to get revenue, get people what they need in this moment . You know, i think a lot of the focus right now has been around serving the consumer in this environment. And so clearly theres a focus upon safety, theres a focus upon convenience. So youre seeing things like curbside pickup, click and collect, those types of things that allow the consumer to go experience shopping but be very efficient in their Shopping Experience and in fact, when you look at the amount consumers are spending right now, theyre generally spending a lot more on individual trips than they did in the past because theyre much more efficient. They go shopping, they get what they need done and they leave. And so i think consumers i think retailers right now are doing a good job around making sure they set up their store and logistics to enable that need that consumers have to be efficient and with a primary focus upon safety. I do think you know, we have within this short period of time there has been so much thats happened in regards to the convergence of the digital and physical world. The focus on the topic you raised around amazon moving into malls is just another illustration of that convergence of the digital and physical world coming together and the focus upon the last mile, the focus upon efficiency, the focus upon getting consumers what they need as quickly as possible. Thats not going to go away. Dagen i dont think many people understand how bad it is, though, for the retailers. I have a friend who has a fashion brand and she doesnt think that kind of the wholesale business or even the Department Store business will exist for her or many other manufacturers in a year. She said she thinks its going to be all direct to consumer but a lot of these fashion brands, they might not make it to that point and youre going to see youre definitely starting to see more and more layoffs in clothing and in the fashion world. Tom mcgee, thank you so much for being here. Thanks for having me. Dagen coming up, disney world making some change as theyre making a buzz this morning. And who needs that bouquet toss. There were two people at my first wedding and 13 people at my second. So i know how to cut costs. But lee carter, let me throw one thing out there. Ive always preached like a big wedding is a huge waste of money. However, lee, if you dont have the band and the open bar and the food and all that, most folks are really not going to give you a wedding gift. You only get a gift because youre throwing a big party and lavishing your guests with all the food and booze and whatnot. Lee thats right. Most people plan on giving a gift that sort of represents what the couple spent on them attending their wedding. Its interesting to see what people will do as far as wedding gifts go. Im curious to see what the trend is going to be on parties on the other side of this. I have a few friends who have done zoom weddings, some have decided to postpone. Those that did the zoom wedding are planning to do parties on the other side of this next summer. Im curious what will happen to that industry as well. When you say you have a wedding and you talk to a party planner, theyre going to get charged just because of the fact that its a wedding. I think theres going to be a big change in this industry. Dagen a party is not a reception. So youre not getting the gift. Youre still not getting the gift. Im just letting you know. [ laughter ] dagen speaking from personal experience. I thought my parents would like kick me some money back for not throwing a big wedding. Didnt happen. Dagen time for the morning buzz. First up, a wild pitch sparks a benchclearing brawl at the astros, as game yesterday. It started when the Center Fielder was hit by a pitch for the second time. Watch it. Boom. That would make me mad too. Oakland won the game, 72. Brian, what about social distancing . The covid outbreak is a huge problem in baseball as theyre trying to finish this asterisk season. Brian this is a huge problem for Major League Baseball and loriano gets hit twice, the second is a curve ball. He probably doesnt react. Then the astros bench starts goating him on and he charges and you get the brawl. It makes no sense. He will probably get a 10 to 15 game suspension, big suspensions in the major leagues because they have the covid problem. Thats 20, 25 of his season. Major League Baseball has to figure out a way to prevent this. Its the astros again in the middle of controversy. Dagen indeed. Next up, disney world cutting its hours. The florida resort seeing more cancellations and lower attendance than expected, the changes start september 8th. Allie, even the most magical place on earth is having trouble getting people through the gates. Allie i know, the happiest place on earth is getting a little less happy. Look, the truth is that disney gets about 40 of their revenues annually through the parks and this is a problem for them, right. And so they really have to focus on and dialup disney plus. People were disappointed in the last quarter. We will see what happens. Dagen i would go if i could leave new york. Youve got a quarantine when you come back for two weeks. Allie thats a problem. But i was thinking the same thing. As the mother of young kids, maybe is the easiest time to go if you didnt have to deal with quarantines on the other side. Dagen indeed. Indeed. I keep using that word. Finally, why work from home when you could work from vegas . Mgms be ladies an belagio and s are trying to attract people to work from sin city, including discounted flights and rooms. Lee, how does it work if youre trying to do a Conference Call, a video call, from a cabana by the pool . Lee you probably dont want to do the Conference Call from the cabana by the pool. The rooms are big and comfortable. This is a smart move on las vegas part, trying to attract people because this idea that people can work from anywhere is here to stay for quite some time. You look at google extending work from home until next july. The trend of people buying primary second homes, a lot of people want to go other places and set up camp and work from wherever they are. People that want to gamble by night, work hard by day, maybe thats your spot. Dagen if youre in vegas in august, youre staying inside because its hotter than the face of the sun. President trump may face hurdles when it comes to Coronavirus Relief plan the president taking executive action over the weeks executive orders provide 400 dollars a week with supplemental unemployment payments, Student Loan Relief to december 1 protections froernts and homeowners a payroll tax holiday through the end of the year the move followed weeks of failed stimulus ebb negotiations in washington, some democrats called the president s plan to bypass congress insufficient and unconstitutional. But appearing on Fox News Sunday hours Speaker Nancy Pelosi says she is open to restarting talks. They were trying to impeach him from day one they have done everything they can sloweded shreddetch d the norms of our system lust for power werent expecting trumps victory. Ag weighing in on some violent protests across the sun saying it has always been about bringing down the president headlines, back to you. Dagen taking matters into his own hands President Trump signing several executive orders on covid19 saturday deal between Democrats White House on another stimulus package could still be worked out the move extending extra Unemployment Benefits by 400 dollars instead of six, it creates a comrrl tax holiday protect against evictions spends student loan payments joining us now, House Armed ServicesCommittee Member jim banks, how much of this good to see you this morning, can be implemented doufrn . Therefore a lot of questions about how much can be executed. Those are important questions, dagen, all of this is designed though by the white house, to put pressure on congress to do job look at executive order should he motivate congress to step up to plate come back to table with White House Senate negotiate compromise pass something there is no question all four tenants of this executive order, fall short what have we should do but this is the president showing leadership doing everything that he can to help people as people suffer, because of this pandemic. So now time for congress to come back to the table, i actually believe, that the comments from House DemocratsSpeaker Pelosi over the weekend show that the president did exactly what he intended to do, he made Speaker Pelosi house the nats look booed for not doing their job, and i i am going to guess more action on the part of pelosi and democrats this week to come back to the zwriebl a lot of huffing, puffing, trying to push blame on the other side when push comes to shove nancy pelosi and democrats in the house pad late may 3 1 2 trilliondollar stimulus package the fact that not, nobody could get anything done, knowing that the 600 dollars extra Unemployment Benefits was expiring end of july the fact nothing got done that appalling to everybody couldnt get something worked out. I agree that is why this is an example of President Trump showing leadership and congress not, and the congress the way congress works, negotiations should be compromised, but were at a point i hate to be cynical but not lost on majority of American People, that that the House Democrats dont want to pass anything that makes the president look good they dont want to help president look like he is showing talks about the president avoided Nancy Pelosis political trap. But the bad news is that he followed the barack method with executive orders one which stretches the law in a way that future progressive president would surely fight as precedent, that is always the problem with washington when you push the boundaries the boundaries dont snap back they stay there. Well, jurisprudence around the executive orders in this country a complete mess thanks to Supreme Court i think the president sort of stuck to it Supreme Court, ebb said if you are not going to rule on this clearly, then i am going to use this, to try to effect some change i look what is happening here and we talked about the possibility for compromise. The problem is House Democrats started at three plus trillion dollars, and their idea of compromise was to take it to two trillion i think a lot of americans say wait a second where does money come from here how do we keep spending trillions of dollars, not sustainable, what we need to do is find a better way to get businesses back open. I still dont see a compromise that actually works for recovery here how many executive orders change that . Hopefully they spur the democrats to action, the democrats dont want headlines about the president showing leadership, when their clearly not, that is what came out of these executive orders, i agree with you, these executive orders are a far cry from what has to be accomplished, to help people suffering through a very difficult time cynical part has come to the realization that is what the democrats want plern to do suffer every day until election day november 3 they want people to suffer as much as possible before they vote an absolute shame that is what people are becoming more awakened to sick of it you are right they Want Congress to step up and do their job work with the president , to pass something. I have three daughters ten and under paying tries for additional 3 1 2 trillion dollars added to 25 trillion dollars at moment started year closer to 23 trillion dollars National Debt if democrats get their way closer to 30 trillion by the end of the year that is not sustainable, that is not a solution to the problem that we find ourselves in the midst of at the moment. Congressman you are going to talk about debt now, and there no fiscal restraint by republicans or democrats, particularly during this administration, so, it would be very hard to pivot to that, of spending restraint when there are literally still millions of people out of work because of no fault of their own i want to bring lee carter in on polling, of this because the president tends to poll better on the economy, but in joe biden, number one issue in country, has been the coronavirus, and he has been pulling ahead of the president , does this provide a onetwo punch by the president that could benefit him . Yeah i think this is a very, very important move on the part of the president i think that what weve seen in polling biden is expected to handle criticized better than president has until recently trump has always poll better on economy recently seeing shifts in polling biden moving a little bit ahead i think an important symbolic move going to get the economy going to support American People i think that this is something that is going to be very, very particular, and i think really, really tough on congress to answer the question of why they wouldnt come together get something done i dont think that it is fair just to put that on democrats i think republicans, need to come to the table as well a lot of people are going to be upset with congress the president had to do executive order but i am glad that he did it. Final word to you. Once again clear the president is taking action, showing leadership, Congress Needs to follow that lead and i hope they will take a page from the president s book and do that immediately this week. Dagen we are watching to see if businesses follow through and actually start, giving more money back to people in their paychecks that is kind of where the rubber will meet the road, thank you congressman jim banks. Thanks for having me one. Do we need as a nation in terms of our economy do we need more cohesive stimulus package additional spending out of the congress as opposed to four executive orders from the president do executive orders do enough . Well i think the 400 dollars if it is actually delivered will be helpful in lieu of 600 dollar weekly payments. Of the obviously, there is some question about whether constitutional, whether it is usurping role of o congress the money from from states seems question in some states if we had to stick with executive orders if they are legal, that would be at least a step in the right direction i think as earlier speakers pointed out maybe this is really a spur to action, on the part of congress, and they need this week, to come together, and really come up with a package. Dagen ali mccartney . Look, i think last week the markets simply went up largely up on stimulus from europe and one of the best seasons ever so i dont think the specifics of this they havent created a tension to at a time i think this morning markets world is looking for, is for some cohesive action, but i think that, you know, the concept, for example, the payroll i think we need real stimulus not tax holidays not robbing peter to pay paul what do you think happens if that fails to get delivered in the next week or so well, i will start i will start with some numbers that you are familiar with, we have 16 Million People officially unemployed last the jobs report 30 Million People who are receiving, Unemployment Benefits. So a big a big swath of the American Public is in a tough situation. And if we dont have relief that meets their needs, then that is going to certainly redown to difficulty in terms of consumption you are going to have a lot of americans really in fairly dire straits so i think it is a choice between a a couple of very with adverse scenarios one certain population in big trouble you will the immediate problem, is to is to help americans through this period and i think you need to have stimulus or relief whatever you wish to call it. Is a more vshaped recovery in cards with 600 dollars . It expired disappeared not just end of july but even the week prior, for Many Americans that is already enough to really pull down Consumer Spending dennis . It could have some effect but yesterday i looked at gdp now, which is a realtime done by atlanta fed so i am loyal to former colleagues there but it is a realtime gdp calculator taking incoming data in the current quarter. Now it is early, in this quarter and there is not a lot of data that have been had accumulated, but it shows a 20 rate of growth in the quarter, which coming off the Second Quarter which, of course, was terrible, shows that there is a rebound taking place in this quarter. Now, i think are that rebound takes us up to a level that is still substantially bloo precovid levels of activity but moving right direction. Have a terrific week we will see you soon. But officers say he opened fire during a chase, forcing them to fire back. This coming as riots were declared again in portland overnight, this is becoming a nationwide issue. For people who are worried about their own safety, and security. And certainly it looks like the leaders in many of these cities do not have a control, on the spike in shootings, and murders. No question about it, a lot of it mayors are blaming all sorts of utter, there is blaming rather than taking responsibility the bottom line 77 americans are concerned about the rise of crime in cities, and 46 this is really important nearly half of americans are concerned about rise of crime in their own communities, what you are seeing in big cities, happening will happen to themselves we are also seeing a huge increase in people buying their own weapons people are afraid of not able to be protected by police, this will be huge as we go, go november number one voters going to vote on who is going to keep me safe. When it comes to when it comes time to make their decision, in november that is very different we are seeing people wantity safe physically because of covid front and center. Brian brenberg the narrative was public presence of federal officers protecting a courthouse making people violent. Well those federal officers stepped back stood back, and violence continues, so that narrative went right down to toilet bowl number one, number two you had mayor ted wheeler last week suggest tell tell these these violent protesters anarchists violence is bad you might help President Trump get reelected i paraphrase that was essence of his message. Yeah, i saw that what a cynical statement. There are real problems with violence not purely political but you see this pattern portland in chicago, you have an event you have a problem, nobody waits for the details then it is looting nordstroms, walgreens like that is going to fix the problem you have so few ladders he in cities stepping up simply saying this is flatout wrong you need more of it if you dont get it sorry, wheeler if you dont get it this is going to keep happening not anybody elses plate but your own. Something needs to get done in terms of stimulus do you think odds light a fire given the fact at least 16 Million People in america are collecting unemployment, more if you factor in federal benefits they were receiving. Dagen, i think the nbz should have lit a fire and i think everyone should be working on by partisanship a as in worded we need it now i disagree the way president is doing executive orders, my view is we need i say broadbased holistic probably one and a half trillion, relief package, if you look at fridays numbers you did a great job you talked about this still 58 of the people who arent yet back and still unemployed from pandemic we have five Million People have not come back into the workforce they have left workforce because of pandemic the Participation Rate near all time loss 61 . So it is clear that weve incredible issues ahead of us. And we need a full comprehensive package. We cannot do it piecemeal. I like i did it 42 , have come back i think, of 22. You did it other way i was Looking Glass half full but, you know, the what it is about even half if you will yet that is your point. I will push back a little bit on executive order issue because President Trump essentially taking a page from president obamas playbook, president obama in many instances did use executive orders. And the the wall street journal editorial page rights about it this away, president obama paid Health Insurance costs sharing subsidies inner obama care without appropriation from congress, he used the same executive order strategy to provide work permits for millions of undocumented aliens back then the democrats cheered president obama but now there is an issue with what President Trump is doing using same power if you will. Dagen i needed to be clear you know me i dont play ball, strikes i have no issue with executive orders the president has the right to do executive orders that wasnt my point my. After fridays number we need a comprehensive plan and executive orders dont do enough. And he doesnt have the ability to do it enough, i need i am talking about one and a half trillion, in for moratorium on evictions absolutely not for helping students with student loan payments absolutely i believe he can do those under the constitution, on the tax cut i have been very clear even before the president decided to go here i am not a supporter of that at this time, that does not help anyone who is unemployed doesnt help any Small Businesses, that have been hurt by pandemic. It is devastate spending fungible that monday is fungible the revenue side or expense side i think they are spending it the wrong way, so this is not about who is doing the executive order this is about there is a better way for a recovery, and this is the president the administration, that tukz about great vshaped recovery . That is just not accurate, okay. And we just said 58 , has not come back 42 have come back, disproportionate amount up on furlough leisure, are hospitality restaurants you talked about disney scaling back so those are the ones with the most volatile, in my opinion, ways getting back to work as opposed to they are not new jobs i think this recovery needs that rocket fuel again so i would actually look at one and a half trillion you need to compromise the plan. I want to move to i am not going to get into additional spending for cities and stated, because we can talk for hours, hours about that you sounded the alarm on that for sometime. And that these localities states risk laying people off even more so if they dont get funding i want to ask you about 2020, the president ial election, dnc is one week away, former Vice President joe biden still has not announced pick for Vice President , he says it is coming soon, robert wolf who is it . [laughter], well if i know would i probably put one of three people you guys have been you know talking about it for weeks as weve been talking about it for weeks. The it seems like Kamala Harris susan rice seem talk of the town Gretchen Whitmer is back in the game Elizabeth WarrenTammy Duckworth would i speculate i heard the interviews will be taking place this week, the one thing i have learned from president obama and i am sure President Trump would say same the top of the ticket that counts vote for top of the ticket the Vice President is critically important but people will have a decision to make who is better former Vice President biden or President Trump you know where i stand i couldnt be more clear there is a fork in the road we can go down one path or the. Vice President Biden is he really to debate do you know . Has he been doing mock debates yet . I think he will be ready to debate i know that everyone is having fun with some of the gaffes here and there i reminded you plenty of gaffes President Trump made there is plenty gaffes i make the debates will will make clear ziefrngs where policy is best met the economy right now still in a recession, huge unemployment i think Vice President biden put out a great four stage plan how to bring this recovery back. Do you think is a moderate his wife jill on with dana perino last week she said her husband is moderate who he has al been but some policies are all bernie sandersish or state from his playbook. Let me say a little different weve spoken about this with maria i think almost all democrats progressive on certain issues gun reformer Immigration Reform trying to change health care, but joe biden is not for medicare for all he is for lawing employees to keep insurance not for Green New Deal for Climate Action plan with Child Support are not for wealth taxing can i interrupt you quickly he is in favor in 15 years ending use of natural gas and coal by electric utilities. Has that not send our costs higher as a nation. Well if you look at allin approach look what is doing on electricity utilities, how they are looking at their future so what i would say the approach of solar wind he renewables alongside need to reduce Carbon Emissions interesting whether 150 years or some amount cooler we have to go hard into that type of what i would say new climate approach. Robert more time next time great to talk to you as always i thought would you bring up golf the pga championship.
