But look as everything is becoming a smart device, ship makers need to scale and merging is one way they can do it in better compete with texas and cheryl back to you. Cheryl Lauren Simonetti thank you very much. Leetle move our focus from mergers to earnings looking at futures this morning. And as you can see weve got the dow up 138 nasdaq up 58 and half s p up 13 and a quarter. Investors are focusing on Quarterly Results this week from big banks including jpmorgan, city wells fargo and Goldman Sachs Second Quarter expecting to show covid covid19 still affecting our markets bring strategist also joining the confers for the show for the three hours weve got and pollster and president lee carter is with us senior fellow with National Taxpayer union and maddy, and real clear politics cofounder president tom bevin. Guys good morning to all of you. Good morning, cheryl. Well we have a lot to talk about and start with you because, obviously, earnings that is kicking off this week and estimates are all over the place. Analysts seem to be somewhat flying blind going into what we call the covid quarter now. Whats your expectation . Well, you know consensus is earnings falling somewhere between 40 and 50 from last year but i dont know what row do with that number. You have very little visibility, i mean, weve seen a market that basically had a tugofwar from good economic numbers like strong manufacturing, some upside surprises in the recovery of the labor market, of course, facing off against tough information regards to the virus and up tick particularly in sun belt. So i think you have to almost look past earnings. I think you have to focus old school and look at price to book at least thats a little bit of a measure of longer term earnings sustainability. It is interesting too as well you know, tom as we look at where were at with stimulus and government, obviously, the markets have been banking on stimulus and more stimulus few you know from the political side that might not be really a possibility before the end of the month of july. No. Congress is out, and it is unlikely theyre going to get anything done theyre talking about trying to get i think a fifth package done, and trump has mentioned something about new stimulus checks. Were hearing stuff about you know hundreds of billions of dollars per schools to help them deal with getting kids back into the schools awe of the measures that are going to take. But it is unlikely to see anything getting done in the shortterm just because of the logistics of it number one and politics it have. Theres hely a big divides on capitol hill still. Thats true, and going back to issue of the quarter was looking at expectations now. Because this is going to be, obviously, a huge a negative quarter for American Companies but Energy Companies Consumer Discretionary industrials those are sectors that the Analyst Community that has hair eye on for biggest falls. Is there upside surprises in any of those groups in your opinion . Well nose are for sure hot spots and one way you can see that is not just to look at price action but if you look at dividends sustainability sectors that youve mentioned have had the preponderance of dividends so far. If you take tech and pieces of Consumer Services that are related, Communication Services related you have onethird of the s p 500 at this point in those evaluations are sky high. But this time around, as opposed to 20 years ago those enxas actually make a lot of money, in fact, they return on assets substantially higher than market. So just rotating value doesnt necessarily make sense to us. We think moving to middle of the gauge in terms of quality plays with better return on assets but also trading at lesions than market make a lot of sense. But those sectors you noted definitely risk on earning front. Another top sick going to be online retail. Retail in general because thats going to be again the covid quarters that could actually be a positive story because were stuck at home and buying everything online. That what we might be cheryl thats the question is there a pengt of demanding proposition here that makes up for the loss in the last two quarters. And hit it on the head when he said we have to look through earn this is week because it is a weed week. Not only are we waiting on stimulus from washington. Weve got fed beauings stock prices in a way we havent seen in recent time but also taxing. Remember wednesday is that delayed tax deadline which means businesses are paying their quarter one and quarter two taxes. Other than being delayed. That is a trillion dollars in money with the private economy thats a poll off the sidelines back into treasure. Im not sure that would have a positive effect if we werent otherwise in a strange environment essentially fed an congress are what market is watching. Cheryl they have been for the last three month and not seeing eye to eye you have federal rearch Treasury Department disagrees reportedly over main street legending program that was in the journal and i want to take this to the fed they want more risk for the government. Treasury was like wait a minute, more conservative approach. Your response. Look, we need both monetary and fiscal stimulus at this point. And that i think we dont get a second package, out of the administration and congress then i think theres a little bit of risk to the market. But if you look at the response overall both monetary and fiscal, to the pandemic crisis, its overall a lot faster than what we saw in great financial crisis i think thats a lot of what folks are looking at when in terms of keeping equity prices the way they are. Because those stimulus programs are the key to allowing companies to turn back almost like a light switch to really mitigate the longer term damage to the economy. So i think so far you have to give it decent great to monetary and fiscal stimulus but we do need more. Many would say ppe overall wasnt success overall that was stimulus addition to mean stream legending program. Thank you for getting up early. Thank you. Cheryl we are just Getting Started morning we have a lot more coming up. A return to happiest place on earth. Were looking at disney world reopening in orlando safely. Precautions taken and how visitors are responding. And then in the 8 00 hour im going to be joined by pennsylvania scott perry ticktock troubles and race for the white house in 2020. Cheryl crime surges in American Cities reporting staggering increase in shootings and Violent Crimes as officials warn theres a socalled storm on the horizon. Amid calls for change, former new york city mayor Rudy Giuliani speaking to Maria Bartiromo about up tick in crime on sunday morning futures if watch this. What is your reaction to mayor de blasios new plan he says to take back the blocks . Relying heavily on Community Members on the streets . Hes already amended that plan because it was stupid throughout, and it is a disaster maria ive never seen it leak this. I mean, there were more murders in the city under jenkins but we never had a total disrespect for the police even in bad old days no one would spit at a Police Officer or punch a Police Officer. Cheryl or put a officer in choke hold or throw eggs on them bring in matt welch, matt good morning and 15 shootings in a 15hour span here in new york city. Yeah. We Vice President seen anything like this for a generation. You know since early 90s and it is specifically shootings and this is also true in minneapolis, true in chicago, it is what people do with their guns more than across the board crime wave which leads to all kinds of interesting potential kind of interpretation of the data in Minneapolis Police have stopped a lot of the type of stop and san frisk it is not wht they call it there but incidents of stopping people and checking them are way down. And in addition to the Police Department has understandably lost a lot of credibility in the community there. So when you have a perfect storm of kind of luke people cooped up with the pandemic the surming months are normal to have an increase in crime and an increase in shooting. And then you have in some Police Departments and some cities, a severe drawback and number of stops that people do. I think you start to get this. But caveat that were all trying to figure out why crime went up there are pee three decades and criminologists dont have a consensus on that view either. Cheryl lee carter were hearing Defund Policeman tray continue especially in cities like new york, chicago, and seattle and this is politics at play. These are liberal cities, lee. Yeah. It really is, and you know that one thing that i ponged interesting much is theres a movement to Defund Police theres only 75 dont. In fact look at numbers 42 of americans want funding state to stay the same and 30 want increase and theres a concern about these safety that goes both with cream crime and how they feel about covid and concern about civil unrest people want to have ability to protect themselves in these situations. So were going to have a real interesting conversation coming up about Defunding Police theres also going to be really interesting debate coming up as we go into election psych m about gun control because if youre talking about this gun control, if it is gun related deaths that are happening right now, democrats are beginning to be pushing for stronger gun control measures and a lot of republicans are looking at their concern about the safety to have a gun at home right now. This is going to get really, really ugly. Really Good Research lee. I want to you react to that. One thing to keep in mind is also every city and every state is under severe budgetary pressure right now. Right, new york politicians here in bill de blasio is as reckless as a human being can come. A love to talk about whatever they think that the that the streets are asking to say. So talked big game about defunding mrs. And came down to actually doing something, they kind of hid money around and Defund Police by taking police out of schools and so were going to fund them the exact same amount and have the seam personnel and from the department of education, they wont do it. However with every city including new york has to cut billions from their budget because they dont have the tax money and it is not likely necessarily that the federal government is beginning to fill up that gap. So youre going see some cuts and it will be interesting to see whether political pressure cuts towards people saying, you know Defund Police yes. Or that hey look crime is up and shooting is up and we dont like that. New york doesnt want to see this come back the way it was in 1990s. Most incredible thing in new york was protesters Defund Police signs being escorted and protected by the police. Thats the story were seeing. Matt welch well great commentary for you thank you very much. Good to see you. Thank you. Cheryl weve got a lot more coming up folks taking the page out of President Trump playbook a key white house advisor sounding off on joe Biden Economic plan. Thats coming up next. Plus solving an age old argument how to load the dishwasher experts are on hand to answer your questions. Well be right back. [laughter] insurance so you only pay for what you need. Theyre off. In the kentucky derby. Rory mcllroy is a two time champion at east lake. Touchdown only mahomes. The big events are back and xfinity is your home for the return of live sports. Cheryl too similar joe biden revealing a plan with a massive 700 billion job plan fueled by American Made goods. Biden plan appears to be very much like President Trumps agenda. Maria bartiromo spoke with white house trade advisor Peter Navarro about it. Watch. Maria reaction to the economic plan released this past week . Poll driven plagiarist by china joe biden i was astonished by that given joe biden history. I think everybody remembers back in 1988 when biden ran for president and did the trifecta of plagiarism and ripped off in speeches and had to withdraw from the race. In shame and in embarrassment, and now hes just blatantly ripping off the president s by american agenda. I prnlly bnl at the side when he signed at least 7 by american orders. And that 7 more than biden signed or obama signed during their tomorrow. Term. Shawn do you think joe biden is copying the president . Sound off at least similar, it was similar. But biden has to do something on the economy. It is number one issue. Economy and jobs still and probably will remain so through the election so it is coming up with something. But his plan there are two problems, and navarro hit on both of them youll see the Trump Campaign found on these moving forward. Number one bide only has a history here, and his history is not great. He was part of a administration that did not do anything, did not have this sort of biamerican attitude and agenda which cherp in office for eight years and record of check growth is it was not great coming out of the 2008 recession, and then, obviously, the plagiarism charge. It is a bank shot for the Trump Campaign to be able to bring that up. It is a, you know, sort of black mark on bidens, you know, history. And theyre tiebl raise it here. So its they get a two for on this one. But certainly the economy is going to be a heated part of the debate. Well thats my question to you maddy how should the president react to all of this . Peter navarro knows a lot about biden democratic and economic plan because Peter Navarro is a democrat for 30 years giving the president terrible advice when it comes to jobs in economy because tom is right. People and Voters Still Trust the president more than he trust biden on this issue and that will be crucial headed into november. The president would be wise to rather than try to propagate more barrier than trade and tries to use these bioamerican an toke get to foster different credibility to different voters. The president should statistic to his playbook with work for him last couple of years deregulation getting rid of barrier for economy getting economy moving again and president has a great trade record on that. Real quickly why would joe biden pick a platform so similar to President Trump . Because that is the one area that the president is beating joe biden in significant ways. So the only area when you look headtohead on bidenerer us trump everyone agrees trump was better on the economy, and so it is not that surprising that biden would try to use some of the policies to increase popularity in those areas. Areas where biden does the best equality is on health care and it is on handling of covid. Those things are in importance at the end of the day but say this in 2016 and seen this before people vote with their pocketbook so if you think that president is going to be one who is going to be one to be better for that, and vote for. Thats why he went that way with his plan biden did. Thank you very much seeing just a few moments. Weve got a lot more coming up. Maxwell set for her First Court Hearing tomorrow. What to expect. Jeffrey epstein allege coconspirator filing for bail package over weekend siting coronavirus risk in jail. Maxwell lawyers are asking for a 5 million bail bond, and a agree to surrender passport restrict her travel and subject her to home detention, the u. S. Attorney office for the Southern District of new york is charging maxwell with trafficking and conspiring to traffic for illegal sex acts and lying epstein prosecutors during depositions. Joining me now criminal defense attorney joe it is great to have you here on this story first we have to start with the conditions for her as shes being detained in brooklyn. There are reports shes wearing paper clothing and reports theyre moving her from cell to cell because theyre so frightened about either assassination attempt or Suicide Attempt by maxwell. What do you say . Yeah. I probably say that those stories are a little bit overblown. Im very familiar with those facilities, you know, look Jeffrey Epstein hung himself because there was no light at the end of that tunnel. I dont think maxwell is in that position. As far as assassination attempts i dont know many assassinations that have taken place inside of a federal lockup anything can happen but i think they are overblown a Court Appearance on tuesday and submitted bail request on friday by motion and paper. I dont care it is fair to complete that shes not given bail and as a matter of fact if i were a betting man i would bet shes going to be granted bail. Remember this is judge nathan. Judge nathan is judge in Manhattan Federal Court who back in march when the coronavirus started, you know, really taking hold it have this country was one of the fist judging in the country to release pretrial defendants on bail because of concerns of one, of course, reask of the coronavirus and more importantly restrictions on attorney access which coronavirus has made almost impossible in the federal lockup so i think shes got great bail arguments to me most important one is she remain in this country when Jeffrey Epstein was arrested. Right. Cheryl well she was also joe, she also is reportedly moved around more than 35 times. Around the country she wasnt hiding. She wasnt not Walking Around hiding from who . The media who was a massive Man Community to try to get a story or fight to get a picture for her. Cheryl i think she was hiding from the law. She knew she was coming if. She has a passport in france in u. K. And yeast why wouldnt she go to france . To the u. K. Where her family is from and stay there. Shes going to be hiding you dont hide in New Hampshire from United States prosecutors. I dont think thats a great element. But i want to move on because i have more questions for you former u. S. Attorney for Southern District of new york, and new york city mayor Rudy Giuliani telling maria on sunday morning futures she likely had something to turn over to prosecutors. You have to listen to this clip. Whats your reaction to this Jeffrey Epstein maxwell situation . Well i dont know all of the people now but the person in charge audrey was a colleague of mine a very, very lawyer and very, you know, honest and down the middle koof prosecutor. I can only guess what maxwell has. I mean, it sounds leak shes got tapes. And it would not make sense they didnt. They were pretty smart people. Theyve been protected for a long time must be a reason for that. They must have a lot of things on a lot of people and it is going to be really interesting to see. You cant argue with the tape. You cant argue there have to be a lot of people very scared over the last couple of days. Lets keep her alive guys. You know shes in a prison. Keep somebody alive in a prison if they need help. Need any help to keep somebody alive in the prison but i think i can show them. Lord okay well, obviously, joe you agree with rudy shes safe in prison but your thoughts what about hes talking about with the tapes because theres a lot of reports that shes got tapes. If that they filmed their most high profile friends in compromising positions. Yeah. Heres what ill say Rudy Giuliani said something important he said i can only guess what she has. So hes guessing. Were all guessing at this point because no one really knows. But realistically i assume that she has valuable information that she could use to leverage her situation. Help to her get out from under thats what cooperate do they have nowhere to go and give up people and try to get leniency before we go down that path see that evidence against her because she knows Jeffrey Epstein doesnt mean she was complicit in his crimes. Lets not assume. Number one, number two defen recovering prosecutor also. Cheryl all of the accusers, though, that say she was there and complicit and she participated arent they going to be witnessed for her for now . Potentially but lets see how they hold up in courts and they have newspaper article and her press conferences from Gloria Allred lets see what happens when they get in a courtroom and crossexamination thats whats important heres a thin about using maxwell as a cooperate tore i would be concerned because they charged her with lying under oath. So one of the thing shes accused it have doing is lying underoath and now become credibility if shes a prosecution witness. Only way she becomes credibility is if she has corroborating informs like rudy guess she might have and may be some tapes. If theres tapes in this case theres a lot of people who are going to be running for the woods for sure, and maybe further than New Hampshire. Cheryl its a pass fascinating story. Continues with her arraignment tomorrow thank you. Thats early. Thanks cheryl. Cheryl we have a lot more coming up. Walt Disney Resort in florida welcoming back visitors as two of the four theme parks after shutting due to coronavirus for four months with reduce capacity social distancing, and required face masks. But this comes as florida faces a Record Number of coronavirus cases with more than 15,000 and just 24 hours that was a new record. I want to bring in former wallet Disney Resort vpght of operations lee. Lee, good morning. Prng good morning. You are instangt reaction to disney world decision to still open amed this flood of cases in that state. Yeah. While you know i think what happened everything was going fine. The state was clear. The cases were going down and they started toward the opening, and it is like a city. Once you start down that path, and bring everybody back, and all of the operations are ready to go and you fired it up and booked all of the guests youre kind of in a okay now what . And i guess guests will tell us whether we opened too early or not well see next week when bookings see how bookings are for hotel and start coming in. Because we always know the guests always give us the answer. They tell us did you open too early . They wont come. If we didnt theyll start showing up and particularly people flying, and coming in from new york, midwest, u. K. , u. K. Cant even come in right now. You know what lee, but thats the whole poangt is that if you fly into florida from new york or other states you have to quarantine when you come back and air traffic between new york and florida as you know. But you know it is also really hot right now. In florida, i mean it is summer it is humid. How are they going to handle social distancing in like the stores and restaurants if people dont want to be outside they need to go inside to cool off. What do they do . J well theyre going to go in and i think one thing about disney is they are very strict about enforcing policies theyve put in place. I would say if youre going to be anywhere and go to some big place and big crowded place dis in is probably safest. We saw that during hurricanes saw that at 9 11 and cast members are well trained and management to enforce these rules. So i dont think theyre going to see too much of this guest pushing back and getting annoyed and violent about it. So yeah preem going to do what they do, and if people would behave we would be in great shape. Thats a bigger statement than just disney world. I want to bring in maddy into this conversation. [laughter] thats a good point lee im curious youre talking about disney this is a well run company. Nobody knows how to get logistic right the way disney does do you think it is hard for other big events you know sports event, maybe even schools all of the things that were talking about that we just dont know the future of right now. Do you think dis iin can maybe show us some leadership here to get these things back reopened . Well, i think that i tell people all of the time i work with people all over the world even churches. Universities, colleges that shea should watch disney because first disney has talent they have logistic they handle 52 Million People a year, and i mean, absolutely. I always say go to the expert to learn how to do things ive seen disney done that i was not aware of. Theyve gone beyond what you would expect and if you sent somebody down here youll see it is amazing some of the things that they thoughts up to do to sit at least psychologically send a message hey were doing everything we can. So i would be there if i was another business. Looking at this. Good for you thats to your time tom bevin would you take your family to disney . Thats a great question. I dont know. We have been to disney world a number of times and love the place. I guess led have to ask my wife how comfortable she would be traveling with all of the kids thats the question thats facing eat folks. Lee i was going to ask you about disney did not cap number of people apparently allowed but is that something they would consider moving forward perhaps and nonrelated question. How does the nba participation down there complicate, you know, managing any sort of outbreak that might occur . Well certainly. Keeping them nba people isolated is a key factor. Because some of the teams and some of the league have had issues. So yeah, it is an issue, and as far as limiting number of people in parks disney is limiting i dont think theyve announced what the limitations are yet. But i know the last, yesterday it was extremely quiet plenty of space. And the key will be as you try to grow the numbers of people coming in, and how well you can handle these same measures youve put in place. Because volume creates whole other issues. Cheryl lee i appreciate your support of your former employer, and it is still happiest place on earth we hope. Lee thank you very much for getting up early, sir nice to meet you and see you. New york city, highest number of infections was 6,378 back in april on april 6th. Texas also breaking a daily record with more than 10,000 hospitalizations just yesterday in houston, city leaders calling for another lockdown as the county reached more than 27,000 infections. Its up another near 6 at 1,634 a share. Wow. Cheryl, back to you. Cheryl all right, lauren, thank you very much. Lauren simonetti, well see you in a little bit. It is time for the word on wall street, everything you need to know today to make investment decisions. Joining me now, editor and publisher Dennis Gartman is here, chief investment strategist, mark lesini and Market Strategist and Portfolio Manager kevin koron. Guys, good morning. Good morning. Cheryl first up, eyes are on this weeks earnings. Investors are focusing on Quarterly Results from big banks. Youve got jp morgan, citi, wells fargo, goldman, all coming out. Weve got four dow members coming out as well as netflix, the first of posting april through june results. Mark, the Second Quarter is expected to show covid19 is still affecting the markets. What are your expectations for the Second Quarter . Well, i think, cheryl, expectations have been managed sufficiently low enough that its a pretty low bar for companies to report earnings that match or exceed estimates. We expect the Second Quarter to be the nader of the economic contraction, its manifested by way of 40 of s p 500 companies withdrew any kind of Earnings Guidance with regard to how the quarter will stack up. I think its going to be kind of a kitchen sink quarter where now is the opportunity to take advantage of the fact theres not much expectation built into the market. We saw that by the rally in banks on friday, a huge bounce in anticipation of results that perhaps arent as bad as expected. Cheryl as far as the overseas story, chinas market is nearing 10 o10 trillion in value. We have an economic cold war going on between the United States and china. China really rebounding now. Yes, and ill let other people buy it. I wont touch it with my own money. I trade only for my own account and have my own money at risk every day. Will i buy new highs in the chinese stock market . Not with your money, not with mine, will i buy chinese bonds. Other people seem to be flowing in with them. Will i buy them . Not on your life. The only thing i want to own is gold. Gold is making new high as we talk, up well on the year, almost 17 . The dow is down for the year. The s p is barely higher. The nasdaq is up for the year. Gold is beating them all. With the chinese circumstances prevailing, with the United States and china, i think almost in a warlike circumstance and getting worse as the chinese becomes a blue water navy, the only thing i want to own at this point is gold. Cheryl im glad you brought up gold. I was looking at it last week. I was near the 1800 level, record levels for gold. That surprised me. Youve got two dike ot die dich. Youve got the interest in gold, the safety play and the nasdaq hitting new high after new high. Normally those things dont go up in tandem. Well, it is a bit unusual to see them moving parallel to each other but you have to remember that gold is feeding on a couple of things. One of course is disinflation, maybe to some degree outright deflation in some parts of the world and in addition to that, massive amounts of monetary and fiscal largees on a global kale thats unprecedented. Given the fact that gold as dennis mentioned is a hard currency, one that basically cant be debased with a key stroke, is something that is serving as a haven for investors looking at all of this money thats being tossed at the stimulus to relat reflate activy that has to be paid back in some way. Gold stands to benefit as a consequence of that. The weakened dollar is helping to some degree. We expect that to continue as a consequence. Cheryl i want to bring kevin into the conversation. Youve got basically another merger monday which is usually a good thing. Analog devices is buying maxim integrated, a 20 billion deal. Kevin, your reaction to that news this morning . Well, theres been a lot of consolidation over the last few years and things kind of stopped for a month or so there but this is all part and parcel of a broader process of reliquifying the financial systems. Companies feeling a little bit more certain. And maybe doing some value shopping as well. So i would expect to see more of this, particularly if we continue to see progress towards reopening the economy. Cheryl to that point, kevin, the hopes of stimulus has been one of the things powering the market week after week. Are you hopeful that were going to get more stimulus . The august recess is fast approaching for congress. Yeah, theres an expectation thats been built into stock prices that thats going to happen. So if we dont get something, then thats going to be a problem or if we dont get a sufficient amount, thats going to be done, i think theres going back and forth between 2 billion or doing something more and the form it takes, whether its checks or payroll tax relief, that kind of thing. So thats a big question. But beyond that, what really has to happen is you need to see the Service Sector come back, still has a way to go and you need to see Companies Cash flows come back. Otherwise, were going to end up with a very sloppy fall with lots of defaults and lots of problems with companies that are not able to meet their obligation. Cheryl if you add in potential shutdowns throughout the country or secondary shutdowns, thats another possible market negative. We shall see. Dennis, mark we dont want that. Cheryl i agree with you. Kevin, mark, dennis, thank you very mitch. It was great to have you here this monday. Weve got a lot more coming up this morning. In the next hour, im going to be joined by pennsylvania congressman scott perry on new sanctions from china, tiktok troubles and the race for the white house in 2020. Then, former White House Deputy press secretary and trump 2020 Campaign National press secretary hobby giddily will talk gop Voter Registration surpassing democrats. Crime soaring in new york city as the nypds budget is shrinking. Were going to look at a department in crisis and what can be done to fix the issues. And bad habits in quarantine, you know you developed at least a couple. Were going to highlight the top three developed during the lockdown and what you can do to break those bad habits, thats coming up next. Also coming up, removing mayor de blasio, Rudy Giuliani sounding off on the power that new yorks governor has over the mayor. Thats next. Plus, covid19 hitting apple, the pandemic stalling product rollout, when you should buy your next iphone, ahead. Youre watching mornings with maria live on fox business. Nothing ever slows her down. Audi at your door. Cheryl the future of new york city mayor, bill de blasio, former new york city mayor Rudy Giuliani telling maria bar how h power there is over the mayor. Maria you said Governor Cuomo can replace mayor de blasio. How come he hasnt done it. The ag is recommending de blasio shouldnt have authority in new york enforcement matters. Is that enough . Well, you know, just given this citation. Article one, section nine of the new york city charter which i pretty much have memorized, it says that the governor can remove the mayor. You dont even have to have cause. Now, precedent would say it would have to be corruption like they attempted to remove jimmy walker but he resigned or it could be gross incompetence or it could be putting the lives of new yorkers in jeopardy. Bill de blasio through his incompetence has killed new yorkers. His negligence in dealing with covid is outrageous. Cheryl outrageous is one word being used about mayor de blasio. Tom, your reaction to giulianis comments . Tom well, i mean, as maria mentioned, he brought this up before. It doesnt seem to have gone anywhere. There is a real dysfunctional relationship, theres not a lot of love lost between the mayor and the governor but im not sure that the governor is willing to take that step, at least not yet. Because im sure it would cause a great deal of controversy and might even go to the courts. De blasio would not just give up, you know, and resign willingly. Im sure he would fight it. So im not sure where this is going to go. Its an interesting concept and certainly, you know, there are plenty of folks even within new york city who dont like the job that de blasio is doing, think hes sort of lost control of the city. Cheryl im not sure he ever had control. Thats just my personal opinion. Lee, these are both democrats, lets be honest here, cuomos democrat, de blasios democrat. This would have bad optics at the end of the day. Lee it would have very, very bad optics. Only one in 10 of new yorkers support mayor de blasio. He has the lowest Approval Rating that ive ever seen in a politician. That is just 10 . By contrast were talking about how unpopular President Trump is and hes at 40 of . This is hugely, hugely unpopular mayor. And i think that theres a lot of concern about what hes going to do. When it comes down to it, youre going to have to see is he going to get on board with cuomos plans on getting back to school, on reopen offings, these other of things. Cheryl mattie lee its pretty clear cheryl you were cutting of out a little bit. Real quick. Mattie, ive been in the city the whole time. I think bill de blasio is destroying my city. Maria. Mattie thats what a lof new yorkers are saying. Its a proposition, the Value Proposition of living in a city worth it when the management is so terrible and taxes are so high. A lot of people in new york are asking that question. Cheryl were asking a lot of questions. Theres a lot of fear in the city right now. Thank you very much to all of you. Staying safe in the sky, were going to take a look at airplane middle seats and how much risk they pose when it comes to covid19. This is going to surprise you. Plus, it is National French friday. Cheryl blocking my testimony seats, an mit professor suggesting that your risk of catching coronavirus could nearly double if your flight operates at full capacity. Right now, among the major airlines, american and united are filling their flights. Delta and southwest are still limiting their space. Joining me now, former Spirit Airlines ceo and Six Flags Entertainment board member, ben beldons. Its great to have you here, ben. Different airlines are taking different approaches. Its a revenue story versus a safety story. Where do you sit on this debate . Great to be with you, cheryl. Thank you. I actually dont think its a safety story. I think whoever called it a pr issue is actually kind of right. You need to put these kind of things in context. Im an economist as well as former ceo. And you look at risk in all aspects of life. Now, we have a one in 106 chance dying in a car crash, a one in 180,000 of being struck by lightning. The study says you have a one in 134,000 chance of dying from covid if you sit next to someone in the middle seat. Thats kind of crazy to think we would change our of life or change a business process or make a business completely unviable because of that kind of study. Let me ask, cheryl, if you went to las vegas and they gave you this big die that has 430,000 sides on it and says great odds, you win if you roll the number you pick, one number, nobodys going to play that game. The point is, its not the study, i respect it, mits a great place, its a smart place. But to say that the risk changes from 700,000 to 400,000 or Something Like that still says theres no risk and theres no real practical risk in terms of what a persons going to see in their life. Cheryl to your point, i was a Flight Attendant in my 20s actually and i remember people would say arent you scared. I said i could die from a bee sting, more likely to die from a bee sting than die in a plane crash, its true, or to a car crash to your point. The reason people are nervous to get on airplanes is because of the air, recycled air. Is it fully cleaned out by the system on the plane or do you think were reingesting that same air, which means were breathing the same air of all of our fellow passengers. Great question, cheryl. Actually, its highly recirculated. The air completely refreshes every three to four minutes in the airplane cabin because its taking air from the outside, thats sucked in from the edge engine, comes from the top of the plane and goes down vertically. Its recircumstance rated every three to four minutes and pushing droplets that come from your mouth or nose, pushing them down as opposed to forward or backward to the person or sideways to whereever somebody else might be sitting. Some people compared the cabin of an airplane to the air in a hospital in a favorable setting. Its actually a much safer place to be when youre around a lot of people than an Office Building or restaurant, for example. Cheryl what about like, say, wearing a shield, wearing a mask, wearing gloves, maybe covering your eyes, havent those the safest way to fly right now . Do you think thats enough of a precaution for us to feel good about getting on an airplane. Were going to look strange but well be healthy. Yeah, well, some of us like me look better probably in the mask. But its [ laughter ] but i think thats really important of. It actually one of the other concerns i have about this study, actually, is that it distracts from the real important issue of everyone on the plane wearing a facial covering or a mask. Cheryl and they need to. And not all of them are. And thats making a lot of folks angry. I want to bring in Mattie Duppler real quick. I dont know if youve flown, im not going to put you on the spot but what do you make of the conversation about folks getting back onto a plane. Mattie i have a question for ben. I appreciate the comments about having the context here. The reason the mit story is getting a lot of traction is because the airlines is not doing the research. If im an executive at delta or united im pushing out information about how safe it is to fly. Why is there not leadership in this arena right now . Thats a really good question. I think airlines are theyre in a difficult place right now, right. Theyve seen an enormous drop in demand. Theyre managing their cash flow. Theyre dealing with their fleets, their employees and customers. So youre right, as an industry we need as an industry to do a better job getting the message out around how safe an airplane cabin is, if everyone wears a mask, everybodys facing forward, everybody has a seat or a bulkhead in front of them, the air is hepa filtered, its recycled every three to four minutes, those are great messages and airlines are saying them but not loudly enough. I os agree with you. Cheryl i wish we had more time. Well have to bring you back to talk about the theme park. Thats another segment with you. Happy to do that. Cheryl ben, thank you very much. Thank you very much. Cheryl coming up, texas in play, what new polling of is saying about joe bidens chances in the lone star state. Plus, covid19 hitting apple with new product rollouts at risk. M. Eastern times. Investors are bracing for a big week for earnings. We kick off earnings for the Second Quarter this week. Also boosting markets this morning the dow above 200 as you can see, news breaking of this fast track status for pfizer and bioentechs vaccine candidates, that certainly gave a boost to futures earlier in the session and we are seeing session highs for futures, dow up 225, nasdaq up 95 andahalf, s p up 23 and three quarters. And now to asia overnight it was again green across the board for asia. Japan the strongest market performer as you can see, up more than 2 . Well, hollywood is mourning actress kelly preston, the wife of John Travolta has died. Lauren simonetti has the details. I think, lauren, a lot of people woke up pretty shocked by this news today. I certainly was, cheryl. Kelly preston died after two year battle with breast cancer. Her husband, John Travolta, announcing her death overnight on social media. He wrote on instagram, she fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many. Preston starred in several movies with her husband and her career included roles in for the love of the game and jerry maguire. There is a sensitivity thing that some people have. I dont have it. I dont cry at movies many i dont gush over babies. I dont start celebrating christmas five months early and i dont tell a man who screwed up both our lives, oh, poor baby. And today is National French fry day. To celebrate, mcdonalds is giving away an order of medium size fries for free, only if you download the app. You cant get them free if you want them delivered. Cheryl you realize what a french fry really is, its just the vehicle for the ketchup. [ laughter ] cheryl lauren, thank you. Chicken mcnugget sauce, i always dip my fries in those sauces. I think thats even better. Cheryl thank you. Countdown to 2020, texas could possibly be a swing state in november. A new poll has just come out from the Dallas Morning News showing former Vice President joe biden has 5 point lead over President Trump in the state. This comes aztecs as is one of the as texas is one of the states seeing one of the highest upticks in coronavirus cases. Joining me now, former rnc political director and former president bush 43 Senior Advisor, mike duhane and former Vice President biden Senior Advisor and transparency officer, movilla. I want to start with you mike. Texas always a red state, always. Could texas go blue . I dont think it will. But the fact that were talking about it shows the president s struggles right now. The fact that the coronavirus pandemic has been handled poorly, there are objective metrics that can show you that, for all the arguing around the president S Performance around the economy and other things, this speaks clearly to people that things arent going well. Imagine whats going to happen in texas if they have to Cancel College or high school football. I think people are seeing that he is not doing a good job when it comes to this. I think ultimately he will win texas. The fact that were having this discussion probably makes mo and the biden team very happy. Cheryl mo, youre going to respond to that obviously. One thing about texas, i am a texan, is that if you look at if people do vote with their pocketbooks, if you look at whats happened to the oil patch, the permian basin, the loss of jobs in the Energy Industry and the problems in houston with the icus filled, this could be a reason why biden may have a shot in texas. I agree, cheryl. Im a fourth generation texan. Im proud of that i have to tell you, i agree with mike. The fact that were even talking about it should give the president tremendous angst and i do think joe biden has a chance in texas and ill tell you why, cheryl. You being a texan will understand this. Its not the texas of even three years ago. This is a very different texas. The demographics have shifted and changed. You have a majority minority state now. If latinos and africanamericans come out to vote, Donald Trumps in trouble in texas, i can tell you that. Cheryl what about florida . Were seeing record cases. Weve now got a hot spot that is florida, mike and thats Something Else that were watching the polling, its showing that that is hurting the president right now. The president absolutely needs to win florida. Its been a wel bellwether for t of our lives watching president ial campaigns. The fact that florida continues to rise, the fact that its going on around the country is really bad especially in these places. The president had an opportunity early on to work in a bipartisan fashion. There are democratic governors in Battle Ground states where he could have worked with them and shown empathy. Its not in his nature to do that. Because of that, people are looking at this now this was turned into a partisan test. Somehow, wearing a mask became an ideological litmus test. As long as the numbers continue to go in the wrong direction, thats going to reflect poorly on the president. Cheryl the economy mo, ive got to ask you about since you did advise joe biden in a past life. I have to ask about the decision with the economic plan that he introduced. It really kind of seemed to me to steal a lot of the playbook from President Trump, in particular about buy american. How far left is biden going to go and why did he kind of frankly copy some of the talking points of trump . You know, he didnt copy, first of all. But cheryl, listen. I hear about all over the place. Heres the major, major difference, cheryl. There are two words in Vice President bidens build back better plan, that make it completely different than President Trumps initiatives and efforts and those are the two words are inclusive economy. Trumps economy, which by the way he inherited a strong and very good economy from obama, biden, lets call an ace an ace and a spade a spade here, he maintained a good economy. Now it is in absolute shambles and it is a direct result of his ineptitude. Lets not forget the premise where were talking about the economy. The other thing id say to the president , if hes listening this morning, is, sir, if you want to take credit when it was strong, youre going to get credit when its disastrous. You cant have it both ways. Cheryl i do disagree with on one point. Inclusive im sorry. Cheryl i disagree on one point. A lot of the whether it was taxes, rollbacks and regulations, pro business policies, i think that President Trump can take credit for that, to your point. But ill let mike respond to your point that is the president going to be dealt with a bad economy and does he get credited with that. Mike, go ahead. The president would love to get back to talking about the economy. When the economy was going well, that was really the number one reason the president had a great or at least a shot to be reelected at that point. The economy was strong, unemployment was low across all sectors. The president would love to get back to talking about the economy. Thats why probably this push to get america reopened as fast as he could. But i really do think he would love to have a conversation about the economy because it was his greatest strength for all the questions about the president S Performance, hes much better, much stronger when talking about the economy as a businessman, as somebody who lowered taxes, where we saw the unemployment. I dont think people blame him for the high unemployment, dont blame him for coronavirus coming. There is anger in terms of how its been dealt with. There is still time. If the economy saw a comeback by october that would be good for the president. He would likely be talking about rather than daily death counts and hospitalization counts. Could i say one thing on that. Cheryl go ahead. I dont completely disagree with mike. But i do on one part. From my experience, having sat on the white house continuity of government working group, not once but twice in my life and that was in Emergency Preparedness working group. The reason i disagree with mike is i do think people blame the president for this disastrous economy, the unemployment, the spread of the virus. Why . Because they didnt plan and prepare in order to prevent. I can speak to this with tremendous confidence, having been in that room, preparing for just these types of pandemics. It didnt happen, cheryl. And so because of that, i think the American People understand theres a direct link to the president s inaction. Cheryl i have to run. I will say well see how people vote come november. Mo and mike, thank you very much. Great discussion from both of you. Really appreciate it. Thank you, cheryl. Thank you, mike. Cheryl weve got a lot more coming up. Unhealthy habits during quarantine, you know who you are. Were going to show you what mill i dont think so of americans have added to their daily routines during the pandemic and how the habits could be broken. Cheryl apple products on hold, possibly. We are just two months away from the Company Announcing its newest products but the coronavirus could push the reveal back, forcing customers to wait for the latest iphone or apple watch. So whens the best time to buy . Now or o or later . Lets bring in cyber guy, kurt knutsson. Lets start with iphones, buy now or of wait . Hey, cheryl. Good morning. Its one thing, we look at the history of how apple rolls out products and that gives us a road map of what we would likely expect as to when the next great apple product will come out. You mentioned iphones. September would be when we look for that one. So here right in front of us, i have right here the current model thats out there right now, the iphone pro 11, well, 11 pro max that i have. I would say for this one, hold off on that. Wait on that one. However, apple just introduced earlier this year this one, the iphone se, thats the lower cost iphone that is smaller in form function, has a home button and has a faster processor like the iphone 11, id say thats definitely still a buy. Dont wait on that one. Thats going to last you a good long time. Cheryl i love the buy, the hold for dummies youve got going on with the signs. Thats awesome. Lets talk about air pods. Should people wait it out or buy them . Theyve got the new juiced up air pods, right . So thats air pods pro. So those i would say for sure as far as air pods pro go, thats a buy. Those are going to last for a long time. Apple mentioned recently its going to have surround sound into those who already own them when the new Software Comes out, later this year in the fall, its going to make it seem like youre in a surround sound theater environment when youre watching video content. Cheryl regular air pods, yeah or nay . I would go for the air pods pro. Theyre the single best noise canceling ear phone, inear earphones on the market. Bar none, they lead the way. Yes, 100 less you can get the regular air pods. But spend the money. On this one, spend the money. Cheryl were showing the regular air pods. I love your point about the new ones. What about apple watches . The series 5 is right here. Its the latest and greatest one, the one that when youre wearing it the screen o con standly stays on. Im putting they dont spend it on. By the holiday time well see this hit the market with a series 6 which should have greater sensors. Theyre rumored right now that Greater Health sensors will be added into the apple watch, perhaps an oximeter that can tell how much oxygen is in your blood level. Cheryl isnt that the feature thats theyre saying potentially is flagging people that they have coronavirus . Its a blood ox . Ive heard rumors that you could take some of the sensorring ideas and lead you down a path. There will be no diagnosis of the coronavirus directly from an iphone watch or any wearable device at this point that im aware of. Cheryl okay. Real quick, purchasing an ipad, regular ipad, yeah or nay . An ipad for sure a little caveat. This is the ipad pro. This is the one, its just had the most recent refresh on it. They start at about 799. Its got the apple pencil support and coming up in the new software that everyone is going to get for free, it will recognize handwriting on it as well so youll see all kinds of great new features coming to the ipad pro, plus the magic keyboard that comes with the ipad pro, thats available for the ipad, came out most recently. Its the thing that makes it, cheryl, feel like a lap top because it sticks to the keyboard like this and seems like the screen floats in front of you. This has been a huge hit especially for Business Users because it simply makes it feel and act like a regular laptop, especially with the track pad of your own. Cheryl and that beautiful picture of maria that youve got showing to all of us. Youve got to have her up, especially on a good hair day. Cheryl she always has a good hair day. Mac computers and laptops, do you still like them . Ive got the mac air. Do you still like those . I do. I like the its a so heres the big news from apple, is that they have decided to say so long to intel on many of their macs coming out in the future and that was a big tim cook announcement, saying were going to do our own chip. In essence, theyre going to use a similar chip that the ipad uses inside for the computers coming out and your computer is going to act a lot more like an ipad in the future. Cheryl interesting. Native applications that worked on the intel chip are going to work theyre going to make them so they work on the newer macs with that. You might want to hold for just a second on those. But theres still tremendous deals especially on refurbished apple products. Cheryl kurt knutsson, great stuff. Kurt, thank you very much. Cyberguy. Com. Cheryl love it. Mattie duppler, your reaction . Mattie well, as a resident ant someone who lives near the site of rfk stadium, i think it was the first and crucial step to getting the Washington Redskins back into washington. They havent announced the new name. I think we all know theyre going to call them the washington lobbyists and get on with the game. Im excited to see the team has finally made progress on the debate so we can get back to the business of playing football. Cheryl next up, japanese baseball getting new fans. Since fans are limited there, one team put robots in the stands, the robots they sing, they dance. Lee carter, what do you think . Lee i think i dont know why we didnt think about using robots to help us social distance sooner. We can do all kinds of things with robots. I think its an interesting idea. I think whatever it takes to get sports back on. People are hungry to watch baseball and football. If it helps teams do it better, lets do it. Cheryl if it makes it more interesting on television, ill take it. Finally, americans lowering their Credit Card Debt. The amount of revolving credit falling below 1 trillion for the month of may, the first time in three years. Tom, is this good news. Tom i think so. I think its a silver lining. I think another example to show how the coronavirus reshaped our society and our habits, particularly on spending side. And we saw saving rate soar, now were seeing this massive drop in Credit Card Debt for americans and the average rate on these credit cards is like 15 , so i think its a good news for families. Cheryl well see you in a bit. Still ahead, unhealthy habits during quarantine, were going to show you what millions of americans have added to their daily routine during lockdown and how those habits can be broken, thats in the next hour of mornings with maria. Cheryl thank you very much. U. S. Senators china targeting Ted Cruz Marco rubio with other u. S. Officials in retaliation for u. S. Sanctions against chinese officials last week over Human Rights Violations against Uyghur Muslims. Pennsylvania congressman House Foreign Affairs Committee Member infrastructure Committee Member scott perry congressman good morning. Good morning. How are you . Good curious about what you make of this breaking news, overnight what do you think sanctions mean against senators cruz and rubio. I dont think they mean anything, over senators cruz rubio really any elected official i mean not like any of us are traveling to beijing to start a business with China Communist Party, i am not sure if they have practical effect quite honestly i think a headline grabbing move to distract attention from the think a the Trump Administration, has been incredibly tough on you communist party of china and senators many others outspoken about the long time human rights abuses the fact that it is having traction here in the United States that no longer are americans, american investors willing to under wright China Communist Party activity across the globe the fact that we continue to invest in chinese companies, and communist Chinese Party needs to end i think we are expecting another executive order from the president on that, and i think in anticipation of that, this is a move to distract try and grab we still have trade agreement in place between United States and china even though tensions are running high do i want to say ask you about this considering your Committee Membership over weekend state department issued a warning to americans, going to china, traveling to china if they do because they could face retaliation he arrests in china, tr rhetoric is heating up but we have trade relationship that is still in place. And still pretty large. You are absolutely right we need to try and maintain that trade agreement, and any trade relationship we have. We United States is good guy the always has been in this scenario, but we also have to recognize, and understand, who the communist party of china is separate that. Unfortunately from Chinese People but reality is that there is a danger tensions are rising. Acts whether in hong kong whether United States, intellectual property test or Data Collection with with China Communist Party and we hae realize take actions. Tiktok kids are using data seems flowing straight to the Chinese Military congressman i want to bring in league Mattie Duppler a question regarding china. Congressman i think that point cheryl made about tiktok is the important one, what is the American Government going to do when it comes to responding to some of the alleged abuses in china when it comess to defending, Human Rights Violations Trump Administration has been absolutely right to do so. But, you know, the response from the Chinese Government is really a toothless tiger. Commerce completely different story when it comes to take to being, app that americans are using, using for enterprises where do you think the balance lies in American Government to respond, to where he allegations about privacy concerns when it comes to those apps in china . American government unfortunately in this case just going to have to continue to inform the American People and more likely than not, i think if there is a a coming end to americans availability to take to go tiktok thinly veiled young kids people in america using china using to vacuum data microphones to listen to conversations, turn you know again we have to just acknowledge what we might like some products from china they are very, very dangerous, to our National Security and quite honestly to our families, about United States government is going to have to take action, unless something changes dramatically in space. I agree with so you much kids in their country have to listen congressman i do want to ask you about reports about china, iran entering protest Broad Partnership reportedly going to do sweeping economic military agreements, are between them. This is all new york times, what do you make of reports that iran, china are starting to partner up, if you will . Not surprising at all, shouldnt be surprising to anybody that the Worlds Largest exare porter of terror communist Chinese Party teaming up china doesnt seem to get in conventional war with us they seek Economic Warfare effective at it we love the things that they produce in many cases, they are going to partner up with iran in that regard because both have shared interest of destroying United States of america, that is where America Needs to get to on this whether investing, whether it is downloading an app buying local things at local store produced in china americans need to change mindset covid19 has brought that into the forefront about how dangerous this can be. Certainly has congressman i want to bring in tom bevan we want to ask you about this new poll from texas shows joe biden leading donald trump by five points this is of interest to you this morning. Well, actually i want to ask congressman we talked about texas, about that being in play about i want to ask pennsylvania pretty much a must win for trump trailing 5 points in polls, youre district youre newly rerun district wepts one of the won for Hillary Clinton what are you hearing from constituents visavis november elections . I think that, believe it or not, still months away while people are looking at joe biden as potentially a viable alternative, lets face it there is really not much to see there not out much not making many statements quite honestly, recently when we asked kwefk they are interested but when we asked the question if election were today of you to vote when it comes down to it President Trump is right there, so i think that, are that americans and whether in texas or pennsylvania are right to consider every candidate but when they are pressed if you had to make the decision this moment look what the president has done, deeds not words say i am going with with President Trump i think that is what is going to be when texas or pennsylvania, in november. You are saying a key state, congressman thank you very much scot perry from pennsylvania, have a great morning. The debate over reopening americas schools, what it means for the economy, and your kids. Plus, crude oil is in focus, are leaders meeting this week as reopening potentially increase in demand what you should expect at the pump next you are watching mornings with maria live on fox business. My name is janelle hendrickson, and im an area manager here at amazon. When you walk into an amazon fulfillment center, its like walking into the Chocolate Factory and you won a golden ticket. Its an amazing feeling. My threeyearold, when we get a box delivered, he gets excited. He screams, mommys work when the pandemic started, we started shipping out all the safety stuff that would keep the associates safe to all the other amazons. All of these are face masks, weve sent well over 10 million gloves. And this may look like a bottle of vodka. When we first got these, we were like whoa [laughing] with this pandemic, safety is even more important because theyre going home to babies, theyre going home to grandparents. So, our responsibility is to make sure that they go home safe every single day. Cheryl future of oil production, members and allies scheduled to meet wednesday to discuss, just that, this is a group of Oil Producers calling for increase as demand returns to normal as more States Reopen opus energy analysis, tom your thoughts on possible increase, in the timing that have increase . Well, i think opec has real problem the problem is that yes they have cut enough so world is using a little bit more oil than their producing right now that is after we put together one humongous surplus this is tapering i think will taper, but i dont think prices are really going anywhere fast. You know, it is price of crude oil about a dollar a gallon, 42 dollars a barrel, as long as they meet without a lot of ranker a lot of are disruption i think will remain upward path but slight upward path for crude. Cheryl what do you see nor retail gasoline prices across the country seem more and more americans hitting the road. They dont want to fly. Cheryl it is is going to be cheap 2. 20 over on smackdab in middle of driving season Hurricane Season might inspire prices to go up a little bit the problem we are running our refineries 75 of capacity. So if you have a a storm that hits Corpus Christi folks in new orleans houston can despite what you hear we are 85 , of where demand should be in an ordinary year, my view is that last year in, two years before that, we are never going to approach those years again in terms of gasoline usage a lot is about telecommuting, a lot in next few months very good point colleague lee carter, lee how americans feel about economy and economic picture, you know is that going to lead how they vote november. There is no question when you look at it, number one issue is economy also jobs, those are issues that president is doing very, very well. In have polling, i think interesting is when you think about peoples concern about economy really, really high, 87 americans are about the economy in this moment, we often see a concern about the economy,s Consumer Confidence gas prices how do you see that playing together right now . Do you think the changing in gas prices or anything could be happening in retail the pump that is going to impact people . I think 2020 is outlier because of covid tremendous demand destruction on oil prices. Now you could make the statement a Second Quarter 2020 we spent as little on motor fuel than since one of the early years april 2020 what we sentiment 1968 i dont think will resonate with voters the other side i dont think people will be afraid of rising prices or inflation on energy side i dont believe should be dont listen to people predicting 100 50 dollar oil they have investments they have you know some skin in the game. So we are likely to see prices between 40 and 60 dollars for quite a while. Gas prices, tom, thank you very much. Thanks cheryl. All right coming up debate over reopening americas schools, what it means for the economy, and for your kids. Plus, unhealthy habits during quarantine we show you what millions of americans have added to their daily routines starting lockdown how those habits can be broken. Tada did you know Liberty Mutual customizes your Car Insurance so you only pay for what you need . Given my unique lifestyle, thatd be perfect let me grab a pen and some paper. Know what . Im gonna switch now. Just need my desk. My chair. And my phone. Only pay for what you need. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Cheryl back to School Battle heating up education secretary betsy saying we need to make sure he students are in class fall republicans proposing a bill to let parents take legal action if schools dont reopen cdc expected to release guidelines for safely reopening schools sometime this about week tom should parents be worried about fool . You yourself as parent how are you feeling about your kids going back to school . You know, unfortunately like everything, in the country these days particularly around pandemic issue is quite a while ago gotten heavily politicized, become a partisan battle i think there is parents want to have kids back in school but there are concerns, and i have seen surveys suggest plurality of folks have you know, are o have safety concerns southwest seeing plurality folks are okay sending kids back into current circumstances majority suggesting wanted to send kids back with additional safety measures. President trump staked out ground believes on right side of this issue, in, the country certainly divided over it has become a flash point. It is a political issue youve got nancy pelosi saying the president messing with Childrens Health on school reoptions this has become very politicized. Very, very, very politicized 54 americans are concerned about sending kids back to school doesnt mean they dont want to send them back to school the story about grocers i still go youve got to look at questions asked, concerned about safety of children in this environment. The question is how are we going to make sure children get back to school safely, the concerns about development there is a lot of concerns about whether or not they are going to continue to learn and advance, bring it home a lot of moms, families are working a complicated, children need the school, so i think we got to look at that. Very, very carefully. I agree it is not just kids it is participants they have got to go bark to work what about teachers about safety in all of this administrators. That is right one reason administration is so focused on this question you kauvent a full economic recovery if parents dont have childcare on its i would hope that after all the pandemic has cleared its way that we return to conversations about how important it is, to have childcare in place to have a lot of options for parents, because it is a in boot if neck of the economy if parents choose between child getting one to watch kids during workday incredible a pandemic have a conversation in the fwhaigs what economic indication be forces, even after we get question of pandemic safety concerns out of the way. Cheryl i certainly do worry about all these kids missing social interaction missing being in a classroom together a huge part of growing up. So it is a shame we will see what happens thank you very much. All right weve got more coming up back and talk texas former White House Press secretary trump 2020 president ial Campaign National press secretary hogan gidley on President Trumps lonestar strategy, plus, cops exodus, in Police Department facing wave early retirement how this is impacting pensions and other benefits. That story ahead. What happened daddy . Well, you see here. Theres a photo of you and theres a photo of your mommy and then theres a picture of me. But before our story it goes way, way, way back with your great, great, great grandparents. See this handsome man, his name is william. William fell in love with rose and they had a kid. His name was charles and charles met martha. Isnt she pretty . Yeah. Am Cheryl Casone in for Maria Bartiromo. It is monday, july 13th, take a look at markets, one hour till we open futures pointing to gains at that open, investors bracing for a big week in earnings, and nice of the fasttrack statues for pfizer bioen tech vaccine candidates driving futures higher we pulled back a little bit were 200 earlier dow up 138 nasdaq up 93 s p 20u7 1 4 european stocks up optimism over earnings season reaching a low, markets anticipatinging a meeting about European Union Recovery Fund proposal in asia overnight green across the board, japan, the stand out there, a growing number of nba players are opting out of putting social justice messages jerseys, Lauren Simonetti. Cheryl thank you very much, countdown 2020 texas could be a swing state come november polls from Dallas Morning News showing former Vice President joe biden has fivepoint lead over texas, texas highest uptick in coronavirus cases gop has good news target showing more republicans he registering to vote than democrats during covid19 pandemic, joining me now former White House Deputy press secretary trump 2020 president ial Campaign National press secretary hogan gidley good morning. Hey cheryl good morning to you. What do you make of this new Dallas Morning News poll coming out of texas in 5 point lead by former Vice President . Another bad poll another poll trying to keep republicans, you know depressed not going to work they over saddam democrats under sam pedaled republicans you compare contrast amount of people who voted in texas in 2016 we are seeing, numbers on the ground actually spread for us getting the bigger for this president because of all record setting successes i pointed out new information coming in republicans energized more people registering to vote as republican than as democrat obviously, as to why because the standardbearer for Democrat Party is someone stays in a basement most of the time when he does come out sees light of day all he says we should Defund Police oh, by the way, i am going to adopt all the radical socialist policies of so many on the left in my party, that will cause us to lose jobs, cause an economic collapse you dont have to guess what joe biden economy would look like we have seen it 8 years depressed wages jobs leaving this country going to other nations they dont like for american jobs almost as though they fight for rights of other kinds before they do the American People. This president created jobs no one thought possible rebuilt economy once we saw unforeseen about unprecedented crisis in pandemic but is going to rebuild again. The pandemic according to polls something president has to address, handling of it i want top move to what is going on with rinformantc rnc looking in the jacksonville alternatives, florida has a major uptick in cases, is this why company postponed rally over weekend in New Hampshire some asking if that was issue as well may be not getting numbers you were hoping for, people worried about getting sick like we kind of saw in tulsa how do you respond. That is absolutely false it was postponed because of weather we had a tropical storm, bearing down on northeast, and you know as well as i do, if the a storm had come through rained a couple in which these no one hurt or anything but one tree toppled over media would have set up a location there ripped president for a rally in the midst of damage destruction the way media a is going to play this we have energy across the country we continue to strategize, look at places where we can actually have rallies, some of the things we put in place temperature checks, he screenings for everybody who comes in, Hand Sanitizer for everyone, face masks encouraged to wear, so it is about making sure those precautions are in this place because people want to get out want to see this president and thank him, are issue for making their lives better. Cheryl what about the convention what are you thinking are you concerned about jacksonville . I am not right now listen we have talked to rnc in contact every day, they want to do things safely, they want to do things right way obviously, we want to get down to jacksonville, thank people of florida for helping elect this president last time also give that that iconic historic speech to country accepting nomination telling the world where we are going to take this country, in the next four years, and i know as well as i do a much different path than that of joe biden we want safety and security for American People. And, quite frankly, your jobs are not safe your families arent safe your american way of life is not safe with joe biden in this white house. Okay. I want to turn to the issue of erroneouslystone news breaking over weekend president commuted the sentence of roger stone days before he was to report to prison you know stone was convicted obstructing investigation into Trump Campaign ties to russia 2016 former special counties mueller says stone remained convicted felon in Washington Post oped over weekend i am sure you had read that oped white house fired back what say you . Listen, i think that had donald trump not been elected president , we would never know the lengths to which Democrat Party purely parch manner attacked about this president behind scenes not to mention the fact Previous Administration spying on political opponent we wont know clappers, comeys, brennans, people who lied to congress to American People to Cable Networks every single night about all this information they had russian hoax of this president wont know names lisa page peter strzok two lovers cornered within insurance policy to try to take down this president , thankfully all that is behind us, the president saw this case as chance for him to right some of the wrongs of the past a lot of good people, got caught up in this russian witchunt hoax i think the president wanted to right some wrongs he has done that here. Cheryl before i let you go got to ask about report in the hill basically trying to root out leakers in the white house because so many leaks coming out actually feeding different Staff Members at the white house in this report that is what reporter is saying to try and find out who you is leaking information you were at the white house, what do you make of that about that story . Well, are i am not sure what mark meadows is doing i know he wants to make sure leaked is stopped in the white house, every chief of staff i have worked under worked infer three tried to do same thing try to roll it out be clear when you work in that building you are untrusted with some of the worlds most Sensitive Information that could cost american lives here at home and abroad, for people so selfish, and so just grotesque in leaking information they have, to the Mainstream Media to get it out there, it is not just a dereliction of duty it complete undermines the country at every turn hole can put an end as soon as possible i was there a long time there are some people used to work at that white house only think about themselves dont think about greater good president or American People. Most are gone i hope mark meadows finds the rest if any exist. I want to correct myself that report or themly came from axios great to have you on show please come back keep us updated on plans for rather. No surprise to defund the police, we found new york city, about slash roughly one billion dollars as of july, another trend officers looking to retire dont want to be on the force sooner than allotted were planning in new york city has been increase in Police Retirement applications more than 400 , between june 29, july 6, 179 cops filed for, as you said, city may need to enforce a cap on application, now most of all cops retire after 20 years on job many could work longer than that if they wanted to, if you do retire under 65, though you wouldnt qualify for medicare then city would have to pay the entire cost of Health Benefits for that person, then, of course, there is pension program, that is one of the incentives for becoming a Police Officer, in 2019 nypds spent 2. 8 billion dollars on pensions there was concern this number will jump drastically if rush to retire, if that is the case, cheryl the math doesnt add up listen to this. There are almost three billion dollars in annual pension comforts and then another billion dollars, in annual health costs put them all togethering the 6billiondollar figure that people following this debate here but it is actually 10billiondollar figure 10billiondollar figure. Police have been demonized the budget in new york city consider in scheme not that much 2019 six billion dollars was spent but mere 6 of the citys 95 billion dollars, in total spending people call to Defund Police not thinking about 15 shootings in new york city over 15 hours just this weekend they are not thinking about, who they are going to call if they are actually the ones in trouble. What they dont realize is that there is still paying for it even without the protection. Raises the question be careful what you wish for cheryl. Cheryl jackie really great report huge problem for the city of new york i want to bring in tom bevan into this over the weekend, besides another rash of shootings in new york city, another cop put into a chokehold, by the way, he cant reverse chokehold on perpetrator guy walks out of court it is just incredible what is happening to our city. Yeah, as we heard from mayor giuliani, from the marias show yesterday, about we have seen crime like this before but he have we havent seen disrespect for police, lack of fear or respect for police this is something going on we have a much cops retiring not enough signing up for force people on force now are afraid if they make a mistake doing duty that they could end up going to jail so pulling back were seeing results with spike in crime across the country not just new york but everywhere including here in chicago. Coronavirus lockdown daily renounce disarray prompting quarantine habits some so harmful lives could be in jeopardy joining me he dr. Nicole sapphire one of the worst habits was alcohol use. Well i mean that is right cheryl unfortunately, alcohol sales he have gone up i mean over the last few months from 30 to 45 increase in sales over last few months, but i get it where we have been home all of a sudden turns into you are not able to go out as much not having sociallization some find that is a way of relaxing as we are aware there are longterm consequences of regular increased Alcohol Consumption the recommendation to not have any more than one glass a day for women one and a half to two for men seems people having more than that right now during the lockdown, about. Cheryl what about binge eating has that been a trend. Absolutely has, i have to say i am culpable of it myself guacamole, a lifesaver for me there is healthy and up Healthy Eating birthplacing eating increased snacking especially if working from home that is not healthy not only does that veef your weight and obesity directly linked to cardiovascular disease and cancer they are not dealing with emotions in a healthy way you want to acknowledge your overeating birching eat theing figure out healthier case to channel some anxiety or boredom exercise calling a friend going for a walk anything better than binge eating. Cheryl also, what about social media . That could be good can be bad, if you are overdoing it on social media; right . Well, so cheryl in my book i take about about leading causes of deaths disability we know Heart Disease cancer, Mental Health, social media, media not necessarily that good for you we are spending moring time on devices watching news waiting for latest updates again not only does that promote you being sedentary also not good for weight but does fuel anxieties not good for Overall Mental Health i to encourage people to take media breaks throughout the day maybe taking an entire day if you can unplug hard for some people definitely hard for me do what you can to lessen how much you spend online. Information over load can be bad not to put you on spot do you identify with any covid pandemic habits at all . I think all of them sadly, different times, weve got to do what we can to get through it what do you think about thing people can stay healthy in this moment rather than focusing on all things we should not be doing . Is that so i like to think of it as if you heard of blue zone identified three main ways to have physical Mental Health that is eat healthier, increase a lot more fruits vegetables in diet more lean proteins lessons, complex crash bs some junk food make sure you are walking more doesnt mean a fitness model get the your body moving more social about the connectivity reach out to friends i reach out to you make sure that you have relationships you are calling friends you are face too manying zooming go for a wake with them but make sure you are staying connected. I am glad you brought up basically being sedentary we ares inside so much more sitting so much more than normally i think hurt a lot of folks i am glad you mentioned that thank you very much, appreciate it.
