At least the 2 trilliondollar stimulus package, they do not like it when you call it that, is precisely what it is and for many and its an outright rescue, millions of American Workers and isolate the president , the congress for moving as you said, they dithered and trumped time, the reality is, it took them over a week to get this thing moved to reality to signature and i think that is very impressive, yes there was a magic along the way but ultimately they serve the interest of the American People, their mecca family and Small Business and big as well, i think they deserve a commendation. I would offer that. Secondly i think its going to be incredibly effective as well as great aid and comfort to those in this country who need it mainly who have lost jobs already in the incentives in this to keep workers on the job is unprecedented. It is a historic package not only in terms of scale but in terms of its content in this recognition that the American Worker is the center in the middle class to everything that we are and that we do, i am just tremendously enthused by what i witnessed in washington, d. Even as he is succeeding and achieving exactly what he communicates to the American People, the national leftwing media continue to critique him to suggest that he is somehow faltering. The reality is, what scares the leftwing media and the Democratic Party so much, his leadership is so predictable. They want to try to brand him in some sort of eccentric when in fact he drive straight down the middle. If you look at his policies in the stimulus bill addresses and supports, is the broad swap of america, hes not on the left or the right, he is down the middle where it ought to be, one of the things, i dont think as much attention, part of the national leftwing media like most of the successes, he is communicating with the American People, the american voter, the middle cla class, those who inspire, working when entering men and women, not the people sitting on wall street in the corner offices but rather the people who are the absolute backbone of the country. That money is going to them, certainly not all of it but more than they have ever seen in any previous economic emergency, he lights to call in a Health Emergency and it is all that but the Health Emergency has created a financial crisis of unfathomable and unprecedented severity. We have never seen anything like this in such a quick time, these things normally take as a student of economic history, sometimes years to unfold. This was happening in one month, it is extraordinary how quick the responses and how effective i believe it will be. David thankfully he did get the deal done before the end of the week. We were mentioning the dithering that took place, this time initially in the beginning of the week by democrats, mr. Schumer was trying to do in the senate, now by republican, mr. Massie in the house, but the president got the deal, he was honest he said i dont like everything in here but you have to get a deal done, sometimes you have to swallow bitterness in order to take the medicine that you need. Lou schumer and massie there has been an equivalency in my mind, schumer knows better, he was playing terrible games ideological games and despite full games as a representative of a party of hate. And i really hate to see that, he and pelosi were offensive and as awful as they have been in their careers in which they tested the limits of awful several times. But this was not a great moment for schumer and nancy pelosi even though they came to their senses and did the right thing for the American People. Congressman massie is an individual who decided he could block the will of the congress, even though in all of his time in congress the man has not persuaded with Single Person to stand with him, you noticed on any issue. He is a not buyer of the worst kind. That is aggressively so trying to assert power over the direction of the institution, there is only one man incapable of persuading others and his view and philosophy. I find no excuse for him at all. David now we have looking to the future, the prospect of coming out of a dead stop for the economy if you will or close to it, even Governor Cuomo, of new york, he is now seen that we can do both, we can lick the virus through partial shutdown and still get the economy moving. I am not clear where hell end up when his head stopped spinning but at least american now is looking to the future of restarting the economy. Lou america will do that respective of cuomo. I think we have to put in context, his leadership on this, he was late, de blasio, the mayor of newark city was the terms of addressing the crisis and cuomo stepped in as if he is the savior rather than a field leader. It was he who did not buy ventilators when he should have bought them and it was his responsibility to do so but instead hes buying solar panels for crying out loud. And then he depended entirely on the federal government and the trump administration, then he attacks them, because he thinks in his studied leadership that he shouldve been consulted. This is a man who have done nothing for you new york in its epicenter of this outbreak. And if you contrast for example, the ford Ge Partnership to make ventilators, they make ford just like they make cars, they will start making ventilators with ge which has the expertise, they went off and did that voluntarily, make no demands, all the other Ventilator Companies are cooperating but whats different about ge it was like show me the money before they would move. David youre talking about ge, youre talking about gm right here. Ge and ford voluntary effort to repurpose their factory, theyre doing a heckuva job, patriotic. That needed to be done today. David very quickly 10000 ventilators per month, thats what gm claims they can come up with beginning in mid april, will you hold them to that number . That will not be what they will produce, there has to be a ramp up with them. We hope for as much is 40 40 80000 at some point at the end of the year, more importantly we have at least ten other Companies Just before i came on the air, i was across the street with a guy from fema and we would talk of all the Ventilator Companies, what you got what can you get us now and what can you get us over the next 30, 60, 90 days through the end of june and we are trying as hard as we possibly can to make sure every american gets what they need, every Healthcare Worker, this is so important who cannot afford to lose a single Healthcare Worker to covid because that disrupts. I think we ultimately want to get to a combination, the models tell us something how diseases work, we know how they work and infect people. Then we have to tie that in with real life experience. We have to put both of them together and really try to understand what is teaching us, not one or the other because theyre both important. That killed 50 million people, it does not seemed like the debtor is going to be anywhere close to the spanish flu, does it, does anything diminish the importance or severity of coronavirus, i dont think we are going to hit those numbers do you . I do not think we will hit 50 million, has sure hope not, i think theres good reason to believe we will not. Those are very scary numbers. 100 years ago we did not have the Healthcare System we have now or the deed and prediction ability that we have now. We did not have treatments the way were working on trying to develop. I am cautiously optimistic, no one knows but i dont think we will end up with the numbers we saw with the spanish flu but its up to us, if we do a good job managing we should do much better than that. David were doing a much better job than a country like italy in terms of mortality rate, theres is over 10 or close to it, ours is 1. 5 . I want to caution everybody on mortality right now, if you think about it its entirely possible and im hopeful we will stay at 1 1. 5 and maybe go down as we do testing but theres a lot of sick people in the hospital and a lot end up dying then our mortality rate goes up, i dont think theres any reason we should see the numbers we saw in italy. If we do a good job of getting people in, flattening the curve so people are not getting infected at very high rates, we should definitely come in underwear italy a. David lets talk about the availability of equipment in the United States because we saw the executive order, the president has used a president ial act to get gm to work and produce more ventilators, do you think we will have them in time . Right now theres already a squeeze going on it will take a couple of weeks to turn up the production lines to get the ventilators out, will we have enough . Thats a great question, im worried in some places, new york will face a real crunch in the next couple of weeks so im worried about whether new york will have enough these production ramp ups will not meet new yorks needs, will have to come up with another approach to get new york through the spray not just new york, im worried in a week or ten days we will hit, new orleans will be in trouble, other cities, atlanta, we need a strategy to help these cities get through it, city after city is going to be going through this over the next weeks and months. David the Health Workers, you cannot say enough, i think that they are the real heroes if there are any in in this whole situation, there is some regular men on the street, women on the street heroes as well but you look at the Healthcare Workers doing day after day after day, dr. Fauci said there may be a vaccine available for Health Workers in the fall, do you know anything about that . I know there is a lot of people working on vaccines, about six different candidates, a couple in china, some here, some europe, im not aware any of them will be ready for the fall but dr. Fauci has his finger on a post better than i do. My senses we are probably nine, 12 months away. Its possible if were making progress we can try it out on Health Workers first, they really are the hero. David i dont want to put words in his mouth but he was indicating there could be a way of fast tracking something that might not be available or ready because of testing for the general population because the need is so great by the Healthcare Workers, they could be essentially the ones to test it out. Thats entirely possible. They are the highest risk, we need to protect Healthcare Workers so if we have a small batch, we dont have enough for the whole country, you can imagine going to Healthcare Workers first dr.
