Charles so it has been 52 years since Martin Luther king, jr. Was killed but his dream of equality for all still being fought today. Income inequality, racial relations, gender discrimination, these are hotbutton issues as we close in on the general election. Things are the getting better, but is the public being sold on what is better alternative to capitalism, will that work . Joining me to discuss, tom burnett and Fox News Contributor deneen borelli. Former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick out with his economic plan which is heavy on reparations for black folks. Others on the democratic side, there need to be some sort of monetary payment. Is that what it is going to take to make things right . First of all, it is a joke for anyone to push for reparations, charles. Deval patrick i think he is trying to make news. He is trying to get name recognition. He is also trying to obtain black voters support. But pushing for reparations is just, i think absolutely ridiculous. We have made significant strides, first of all, in our country, and when you talk about reparations how will they determine who exactly gets reparations . What if youre half black, half white . Dont forget there are black slave owners as well in our country. When they talk about pushing for reparations i think its a joke. Charles we should point out under obama, 2 billion reparations went to black farmers descendants of the pick ford decision. It did not change anything economically. I have a cousin to the 50,000. Some people did wise things with the money. Some people did not do wise things. The idea, john, you can write a check as opposed to checking on progress we have made. I think idea of overlooking what we achieved is one of the big fundamental flaws particularly on the Democratic Party side. Absolutely. If you look at what the democrat plans and policies have been since the assassination of dr. Martin luther king and the signing of the civil rights bill it has been trickle down poverty, not uplifting our community. What it led to breaking up family structure. Everyone knows that when you actually keep families intact, they Work Together and they gives them an opportunity to build with, buy a home, if you will, the american dream, pass that down in terms of generational wealth. What weve seen under the Trump Administration, is a flow of opportunities. Historic funding of hbcus, in fact, you know, president signed a bill to permanently fund hbcus. There are three things guaranteed in life. Death, taxes, funding for hbcus. Charles deneen, all democrats coming out with economic policies. Bloomberg has one focused on cities. Big cities have always been the answer, if you will for black americans. We saw the major migration years ago to northern cities. It sort of reversed itself now. I just think these cities, particularly new york city with gentrification, things like that, have been worse than what people left. They really failed to live up to the hype . You look at the big cities, that are ran by democrats, for example. Their policies are killing these cities. The high Unemployment Rate in certain aspects. The high crime rates. Look what is going on in new york city. My gosh. Theyre relaxing, the laws in terms of what you commit a crime, that even if youre arrested, youre let go. The sanctuary city policies are also harming big cities. So high taxes, the poor, the high crime rates that are going on. These are significantly affecting these communities. Charles right. Democrats are pushing for these initiatives. Some of these democrat candidates. Charles john, but these are all gender, you know, racial politics. Theyre all still in almost every election cycle, theyre at the top. Theyre at the top of things were talking about. What is going on . Is it really reflection of society. Is it just politics of envy, politics of frustration having people at each other . What is this . It is the same old democratic playbook. Charles youre a gop strategist. You know, President Trump to be quite frank with you is the only republican president that i can remember who certainly as a candidate who talked so much about helping black people openly saying give me a shot. I will not go into details. Give me a shot. What you have done for a long time hasnt worked. I tell a lot of my black friends what he has achieved, you outlined some of them, i dont think a traditional republican would have done some of the things. I dont know that Prison Reform would have happened. I dont know that hbcus would have happened. Some of these other things opportunity zones. Charles im not sure they would have happened yet i had the conversation about neil where the polling is on all of this. The perception of President Trump will get very few black votes. You know where i take my poll . This in the barbershop. That is where true honest discussions happen. Theyre not talking about reparations, theyre talking about you know what . Small business ownership. Education. Charles right. We need to transform education to teach financial literacy. Why are we capitalistic nation of world and. Charles we need to make Education System rigor tougher for everyone including black kids in inner cities. John, deneen. Thank you very much. Appreciate it. Thanks, charles. Charles no secret americans are living in blue hightaxed states like california, new york, just hightailing it out. Theyre going to the red states like florida and texas for relief but what happens when the same leftleaning mentality comes along for the ride . Joining me to discuss, Young Americans for liberty analyst, author of the new hit seller, the liberal invasion of red state america, kristin tate. Thanks for joining us. Thank you. Charles amazing. Timing of this book is absolutely amazing. The time i pick up a anything, im doing research, mass migration out of blue states, new york, new jersey, california, into red states is prevalent. By the same token there is consequences for this. Youre right. Seems all eyes have been on immigration. I think it is domestic migration set to reshape the political map really under our noses. People are fleeing states like connecticut, new york, california, illinois in record numbers, going to lowtaxed states with booming job markets. This trend is so significant, charles, new york, california are expected to lose congressional seats and while florida and texas are expected to pick up congressional seats. In fact from is expected to surpass new york in congressional seats. It is easy to see why these red states are booming. They are following winning economic model of lower taxes, economic friendly markets. The job markets are so hot they cant find people filling slots. Fastfood workers in places like north dakota, utah, florida, pulling down as much as 20 an hour. Charles this is where it gets confusing. You live in new york and youre fourth generation there, third generation, all of sudden youre priced out of the you cant afford the Apartment Building you lived in, your mom, grandchildren. Gent at this genttryification. That is the analytical psychology of this i cant grapple with. I cant get my hands around it. These trends are vindicating for republicans. Were seeing people to move charles on the other hand texas is purple state. On other hand, people are voting policies that caused them to leave in the first place. Last year the top 10 Fastest Growing states were lowtaxed states. All tended left ward in the 2018 elections, but i have got to tell you, charles, doing research for the my new book, the liberalization of red state area, this is story of urban areas versus rural areas. People who move to red state cities are far more likely voting in favor of democrats than those who move to rural or suburban areas. Republicans in the red states have an obligation to tell the new neighbors, whether living in a rural area or big city, hey, this is why our state has prospered. We need to keep voting in favor of these policies. No coincidence republican led states have lower unemployment and stronger gdp growth. I started the book over the weekend that maybe america could separate that. Not farfetched, happened in the uk, happened in ireland, happened in russia. Happened all over the world. It could be led ironically by progserves in the left who suggesting many of places. Migration back to Southern States and other red states, why would they, i mean, maybe thats it. Maybe they just wait and they will get eventually will take those states down . I really hope people wake up to what is causing these red states to do so well. Of course it is taxes. I mean that is why were seeing people flee places like San Francisco where one Million Dollar houses are described as rundown shacks but it is more than that, charles. I ran analysis for my book that found that 100 only buys you about 90 of goods and services in new york and california. That same one one dollar bill purchases far more than than its value in florida, new york, sorry, texas, across the midwest. It is about taxes but also about quality of life. The value of your money and hopefully people can kind of connect the dots to vote in favor of the policies that caused these places to flourish. Charles belief in the country, belief in god. They do that everywhere. Certain parts of the country, belief in family unat this time. It works. I moved from new york to texas. Best thing i ever did. Aam a living breathing testament what the trend really means. Charles kristin, thanks seeing you. Thank you, charles. Charles later in the hour, prince harry and meghan leaving the life of royals so is this a royal flush or royal mess . Why january could be barometer for the rest of the year. We honor the life and legacy of dr. Martin luther king, jr. Im looking at how far black americans in the United States have come to fulfilling the dream. Well be right back. A companys. And trulicity activates my body to release it like its supposed to. Trulicity is for people with type 2 diabetes. Its not insulin. I take it once a week. It starts acting in my body from the first dose. Trulicity isnt for people with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Dont take trulicity if youre allergic to it, you or your family have medullary thyroid cancer, or have multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2. Charles Martin Luther king, jr. s profound impact on this nation continues to this day in part because the dream hasnt been completely fulfilled yet we continue to march towards his vision and the promise of the Founding Fathers of a more perfect nation. Like so many important events and people in history the meaning of kings speeches and his goals are being used to support different ideas and agenda. I like to take the message from his last speech, april 3rd, 1968. King gave the mountaintop speech which stood out his understanding of key moments in World History and why theyre important. He noted, if god took him on a trip through time he would take a mental flight to egypt, then greece, then the great heyday of the roman empire. It would be on to the renaissance and he would watch the defiance of Martin Luther. King would go to 1863 to see lincoln sign the emancipation proclamation and 30s, to hear fdr cry, we have nothing to fear by fear itself. The speech noted progress and determination of black americans, noting strides made and demand anymore. There will be no scratching where we did not itch and laughing where we did not tickle. We mean business now. Were determined to gain our rightful place in gods world. There was an economic focus on power, mobility, understanding we had the former and should use it for, use the latter to gain greater empowerment. He said never stop and forget collectively were richer than all the nations in the world with the exemption of nine. With annual income of more than 30 billion. Pointing out, theyre, thats right, power right there, if we know how to pull it. Martin luther king, jr. Was in memphis to help black sanitation workers there. They demanded safer working conditions and equal pay. The signs used during the protest, i am a man, reminded america of the dignity that comes with the opportunity to provide for yourself and your family. We have a long way to go. Median income for black households actually peaked in 2000 at 43,300 bucks. It has grown faster recently. In fact the National Average in 2018. Folks we have a lot more to go. We are picking up momentum, it has to go a little bit further. King finished the speech underscoring real threats to his life, i may not get there with you. He said he was not afraid. He wasnt worrying about anything. He wasnt fearing anymore. His eyes had seen the glory of the coming of the lord. Inspired by king, my grandmother raised in union town, alabama went to vote against warning threats of violence along with a few other black votes there. They were put inside of a room at polling station. After an hour, the door opened slowly, Martin Luther king peeked his head in, said everything would be all right. They voted that day. Yes, we have a ways to go but i think that we are going to get to the mountaintop after all. Coming up next, the markets may be closed today but we are open for business. Well take a look how january, the barometer of this month, what it means for the rest of the year. Still to come prince harry speaking out for the First Time Since announcing he and meghan were stepping down from their royal duties. Many wonder if they could be the worlds most valuable brand. It was so many months of talks, after so many years of challenges. And i know i havent always got it right but as far as this goes, there really was no other option. Charles prince harry breaking his silence about him and his wife meghans decision to step back from the royal duties. With more details is ashley webster. This is huge story. It is, and apparently the United States is very interested in it, charles. What this speech shows harry and meghan did not expect to be set free so completely from the royal family but turns out you cant still enjoy some trappings of the royal life while heading off to live your own life. Bottom line youre either in or youre out and the queen made that very clear. As harry said in that speech, i wanted to continue in some sort of royal role but unfortunately that was not possible. So no royal title, no longer a working member of the royal family and no longer receiving taxpayer money. It also has been noting that harry referred to himself a number of times in that speech making the difficult decision to step back, trying to dampen reports his wife is the one who is actually dictating their future. Harry says, no, it is all about me. The prince stressing pressure put on them by the media. At one point referring to his mothers death, prince sense diana all the way back in 1997. He says he doesnt want his family in the same spotlight. We can understand that. So now it is a brave new world for harry and meghan and could be a very lucrative one. Harry still gets millions from his father. There is no indication that stops. We know harry has been pitching his wife for voice over work for disney and bob iger and a disney director but the big issue is earning money but not using the monarchy for financial gain. It is complex. For instance the duke and duchesss royal brand which they tray marked last year is not likely to be a stream of income because the couple is trading of course on their royal credentials and that could have produced a lot of money. Even the cottage the queen behave to them as a marriage, a wedding present will be subject to rent we understand the couple will pay. But other expenses, not so clear especially the cost of security for them which is pretty large. Another question being asked, now, is whether harry could ever go back to his old life, like none of this ever happened . In principle he could but seems very unlikely, charles, he would ever be in the same new role. A brave new world and well see how much money can generate, how much cachet being a member of the royal family is. Charles looks like they got caught flatfooted and the queen called their both. I think so. Charles see you later. Meghan and harry returning 3 million in taxpayers debt. That could be the a drop in the bucket if they can build the worlds most valuable brand. The author principal of the Kim Kardashian principle. Hello, charles. Charles there are articles that say they have so much influence, they could make more money. Were talking about tens of millions of dollars. Is that really possible . I think tens of millions of dollars are absolutely possible. Im optimistic about the sussex royal brand. It is valued at 30 million thanks to harry and meghan. I compare it to the obamas brand valued at 40 million. If they get near up to 100 million, that would be them doing incredibly well. Them making a 1 billion a billion dollars is kind of a bit of a push but you just never know. It is uncharted territory. We never seen a royal Family Member leave the family like this but who knows. Charles we know they have influence. We know that clothing meghan worn in the past, wherever it sold it sold out immediately. We know they are influential and curiosity of the couple spans the entire globe. Absolutely. What is power of the brand, it is disruptive brand, it is rebellious, gone against the establishment. Younger generations, key consumers are drawn to people that march to their own drumbeat and antiestablishment if it makes sense. The other thing about the brand it is values oriented. Harry and meghan want to do positive things and push forward social issues that resonates well with audiences. 70 of audiences want to connect with brands on a values level. That is a good sign for the brand. Charles how do they, how do they not oil it, right . How do they contain themselves, maintain a certain quality to their brand, you know and do they, do they endorse everything . Socks, underwear, deodorant . Where do they draw the line . I dont think they should be endorsing everything. That is absolutely right in that standpoint. I think where they will go into potentially trip up not being transparent enough. The royal family brand has been very contrived and very created and very controlled and brands that really resonate with audiences today are very transparent and very open. Charles right. That is one potential area they can trip up in. Im not concerned about them, you know, knowing which midto endorse and which not to. Im sure theyre not going to cheapen the brand in that way. I mean the standard Revenue Streams for them will be public speaking, book endorsements, merchandising, and you know, probably you know, some kind of an Entertainment Property like the obamas have done, a production entity of some kind. I dont think there will be a danger on that front. I do think there is a bit of danger with the prince harry brand. I think prince harry has been a bit of a bad boy in his younger years. He was partying in vegas with naked pictures. He used a racial slur. That caused a lot of problems. There is increased sensitivityization like that. If they can identify with the brand, harry can be a bit of a liability, apart from that i think theyre all good. Charles i think they will get a free pass. When you come back, do two things. If you bump into the royal couple, give them a word for doing making money with charles payne. Well talk to beyonce, because they will apparently give them a run for the money as well. Thank you very much. Happy Martin Luther king day. Charles thank you very much. Later in the show one wall street veteran is sharing how he is discovering, representing young adults to be the next great generation of traders. Next, how january could be the best barometer for the rest of the year, if it is, you could be making some money. Stay with us. At fidelity, online u. S. Stocks and etfs are commissionfree. And when you open a new brokerage account, your cash is automatically invested at a great rate. Thats why fidelity leads the industry in value while our competition continues to talk. Talk, talk. Charles markets may be closed but there is still a ton to talk about when it comes to helping make money. For starters there is Exhaustive Research on impact of january for the rest of the year. It has been said, so january goes, so goes the rest of the year, with a few exceptions of course. As a whole when january is flat, following 11 months, rallies of more than 6 , 7. 6 . When januarys positive, folks the rest of the year is up almost 12 . For more i want to bring in Gibbs Wealth Management cio remember rin gibbs. Erin, we heard about this, talked for some time. January effect, santa claus rally, yadi yada, it works so often it is amazing. Why would it work . What do you think it is about january that is so influential for the rest of the year . I think a lot of it is having a good sense where we are as we get through the starting earnings first quarter, we understand what companies are going to do for the rest of the year. Charles guidance . Guidance. That i think really gives us, set as stage for what will happen. Of course those years that we do end up down, there is some big shock of a type of effect that causes market to crash mid year or go further down. Some sort of exogenous shock. Charles right. We clearly are not planning for but right now, when were looking for about 9 Profit Growth for 2020, things are looking much more stable obviously having the trade agreement take some uncertainty of the table for the first stage. So i think this is where we should expect the market to be up higher. The big concern is that valuations are so high for this year. The market is really expensive. I want to pick up on a couple things because the last time this did not work was in 2018. Now i point to october 3rd, 2018, the dow was at 26,358, Something Like that when jay powell gave that speech, suggesting that the fed would raise rates forever. We dont know where the top is. Well keep hiking rates. Scared the heck out of the market. We went into something akin to a death spiral. Dough spite the fact we had great earnings in 2018 the market was down. The exact opposite happened last year. There was not the Earnings Growth we were looking for but the market made an amazing rally. Maybe some was catchup or pulling back from what we should have have gotten. Right now wall street is ambitious. Were talking about, Fourth Quarter earnings, yearoveryear estimates being up as much as 40 . 15 , depending what gauge you use. Is that too optimistic in our point, in your mind . If so, does that mean these bigtime valuations could actually be a anchor to the rally . So i think, for the most part, for Fourth Quarter earnings, in general, were looking at a bit of a dip. And so i think charles Fourth Quarter of 2020 though . Yeah. Charles were talking about a ramp up from Fourth Quarter right. I think the biggest thing is also when you look at not just overall earnings but, see spread between the growth and value stocks. Again it looks to be another year of higher growth companies, faster growth, typical when you see the double digits. Charles right. So i think we could continue to see that. As long as again we dont have some big shock, like, interest rates. Charles bottom line things look great. They should be great for it year, as of right now . Things look very good. Very good. They should be very good for the year. Charles thank you very much. With all the theatrics in Senate Impeachment trial in the rear view mirror, many say now well get down to business. Maybe we will have more theatrics but is going to happen as we approach Inauguration Day . President trump, a lot of folks are wondering where he is going to be with respect to the white house. Well get some clarity what impeachment really means. Wednesday is, our invested in you. That is the Live Audience where you get to ask questions. That is hosted by me. Go to foxbusiness. Com. Charles all of the pomp circumstances surrounding President Trumps impeachment now over. It is down to the nittygritty. It starts tomorrow. The president right now on his way to davos. That is not stopping him from weighing in on all of this on twitter, tweeting, cryin Chuck Schumer is asking for fairness when he and democrat house members worked together to make sure i got zero fairness in the house so what else is new . Who will come out on top . What does it all mean . Joining me to discussion, Trial Attorney heather hansen. Heather, i think the public is very confused about this whole thing. Many people think he is going to be impeached. Many people think impeachment already means guilt. It is really amazing how confusing the whole thing has been. It is confusing i think to even the parties who are involved. I think it is confusing to the senators. I dont think we have great precedent here, charles. It only happened twice before. We dont have a great system figuring out what is happening. Youre right, people dont understand what impeached means. They dont understand what the process is. They dont understand what the ultimate resolution will be. Charles to go through with impeachment, i know it is interpretation of the house at the time but high crimes and misdemeanors, you know, for anyone who read the transcript of that phone call that, if i envisioned the president of the United States committing a high crime, you know, or treason, that for me comes nowhere near those definitions. That is the exact argument that the president s counsel has made today in their 111page brief. Were not talking about a crime. Dershowitz is the said it publicly and said it in the memo. These are not crimes. Not something a president can be impeached for. In the past he said something different. I always say, chars, a good lawyer knows the law. The a great lawyer knows the jury. The jury is the senators. Each senator will see it through its own perspective. We know it will likely play out along party lines. The only question whether or not witnesses are called. That seems where there is one area where a few Republican Senators May be leaning to want to hear from witnesses. That can be a pandoras box for democrats as well. If we do say, some of the names are not in the public conscience. No one knows lev parnas per se. Right. I heard another name, coin ad trump grouppy. Im not sure of this guy. As the story goes on, the names pop up. John bolton is the big name. No one is sure what he would say. If we get witnesses would be fair to suggest, hunter biden should be fair game because he was topic of conversation . Kellyanne conway said you open a pandoras box if you call witnesses. You have one witness and does that lead to another witness. The first impeachment in history, 41 witnesses. Clinton only three. I wouldnt expect them to go on and on with these witnesses but if youre going to call people you would expect that the president s counsel would want to call hunter biden and others. Well see what happens there i do think theres a strong argument you should have evidence and witnesses in a trial but the counterargument, they have all this information in papers they can review. A lot will be decided tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day they decide what the process will be because that is not even yet decided. Charles heather, thank you for helping us out with that. It is interesting. Charles appreciate it. Really is. A wall street veteran explains his mission to recruit and train young adults to be the next generation of great traders. Q. But in the front offices of wall street it wasnt represented. I always thought friends of mine, get them in front of monopoly would kill everyone in sight, but there was a disconnect. Charles for me, i started at e. F. Hutton in 85. I saw a clique. The germans, the jews, the english. It was interesting. Everyone had one thing in common they knew to get in the door. Social capital. Charles social capital. The people also have to want to get in the door. Thats right. Charles you have the dual process having to convince people, hey these folks can be great traders. But these folks can be be a trader. Is that a dual. That is fair statement. A lot of young people i work with, meeting in the college system, for a lot of them wall street is still this far off thing that theyre not even, they heard about it, maybe, but the idea of being obtainable as a career path that is the first step, first hurdle before you get to the point of okay. What does the fed do narrow within the buy side, management, hedge funds, et cetera. We went to hard skill, technical curriculum equity analysis. We did cash flow analysis. Charles that is absolutely remarkable, you know, particularly when you Start Talking college debt being at 1. 6 trillion. Many saying if these Democratic Candidates focused on something else, they would win the white house. How do politics play into all of this, or does it . Well, i mean, it does9 from the pessimism side, interestingly enough. They said the leaders in washington were the leading reason that they felt their finances would deteriorate. Charles yeah. Im surprised that number isnt higher, you know . I want to switch gears, greg, because im going to take a victory lap, if you let me. Back in august i predicted a housing boom. I think its gaining momentum. You look at last week, Mortgage Applications through the roof. Highest levels since 2009. Housing starts we got on friday, the highest level in 13 years. And since everyone has some exposure to this potential housing boom, how much could that add to the economy . Yeah. First off, take a bow, charles. Particularly to make that call in august.
