America this morning, december jobs report is expected just about in 2 and a half hours time after 8 00 a. M. Eastern this morning, estimates show 164,000 jobs added to the economy in the month of december of the last month of 2019 with Unemployment Rate Holding Steady at 50year low, 3 and a half , markets are up ahead of the report, take a look, dow industrials up 54 points, s p futures up 7 and a quarter, john, we are expecting a slowdown from the robust growth we saw earlier in the year and certainly in 2018. Nevertheless i think this jobs report is going to be good enough so that we are going to have new record highs at the close of the equity market today, you know, probably conformed to expectations we will see further growth by wages but not at such a rate of growth that we begin to worry about inflation. Maria expansion continues in the year . Why not. No registration in 2 years, we are in 11th year, we have a way to go. Its so nice to see america winning again, literally more than 7 million job openings, more job openings than there are people looking for jobs. Thats a good thing. Dagen number of jobs held by women in the wasntry not selfemployed are farmers could surpass women, shrinking of gender gap, one number to watch for, employers dont add, lowest job growth of the last ten years. You have to expect job growth slow. Takes job growth of 75,000 to a hundred thousand to prevent the Unemployment Rate from rising and thats what you want to avoid. When you look at Unemployment Rate numbers, you talked about the amount of women working right now, we have record lows, african americans, hispanic americans, veterans, this is such a really good time and a really strong time in america. Maria i want to find out where the highpaying jobs are, where the wages are the strongest and whats going on in terms of income inequality. The atlanta fed, i dont know if it came up in the air, Federal Reserve came out with the study over the holidays that proves that ranking file workers, their wages are growing much faster than say the top 10 , even top 20 , wage gains are outpacing even the broad number and how much people in the kind of top tier income scales are earning, so thats in and of itself closing income inequality. Maria i think its 4 and a half percent. Bottom earners saw wages go 4 and a half versus average of 3 and a half percent. Dagen wages are growing fastest in 6 years. You know, these people are not making money. Somebody from the left will add in minimum wage heights, you see at the bottom and the income distribution. The company releasing internal documents that employees put off safety consideration with 737 max aircraft, one employee wrote in the email, quote, will you put your family on a maximulated aircraft max simulated aircraft and he said, i wouldnt. Dagen quote that jumped out and this was the chief technical pilot mark, 737 mark, these were messages that were released earlier said, quote, jedi mind and knowingly lied to the faa. One of the reasons that denise mueilenberg needed to be kicked because thats the linchpin in getting this plane back in the sky. Came to one more time, that makes me very afraid of somebody who travels and flies a lot. Maria thats drink worthy actually. Then the iran plane story, this was a boeing plane. Iran is inviting boeing to help investigate deadly Ukraine International airways crash, killed 176 people on board, iran is denying shooting down the passenger jet after u. S. Said that intelligence support that plane was shot down but shot down by accident. Theres intelligence from canada, a lot of different people that say the plane was shut down by iran and whats going on right now is that a lot of the passengers were iranians, 176 of these people were killed and so this has been a very, very bad week for iran, so we have the People Killed and this plane spotted down, so its been a really, really bad week for iran and they are starting to say that iran wants to do their own internal investigation for one the two years, isnt that convenient so the heat will die down in one or two years. Maria they dont want to give up the black box. They dont. Dagen Justin Trudeau 63 canadians killed in the plane crash, Justin Trudeau and Boris Johnson both said they believe it was shot down by iranian surface to missile system, this might be unintentional said Justin Trudeau but i want answers, the response on some people on social media, Pete Buttigieg said innocent civilians are now dead because they were caught in the middle of unnecessary, unwanted tit for tat, what ask he talking about . This is iran, this is iran accidental or not taking down a commercial jetliner with people on board. Look up the word cross fire. There was no other fire other than iran. Number one Pete Buttigieg is a veteran, number 2 the left is engaged in a fiction that we were the aggressor of this entire situation, that is not true, iran were aggressive in the entire situation, embassy was attacked, one American Contractor was killed so they started all of it. Somebody said to me, this seem to come out of nowhere and i said, no, if you watch fox news, if you read the wall street journal you would know that this aggression from iran was picking up momentum, we didnt respond after the american drone was shoutout of the air, we didnt respond when Saudi Arabian and oil field, main oil field was attacked, so there was restraint and restraint where we would not standby and watch more americans die in the hands of terrorist regime. Responded when an american was killed, President Trump held rally in ohio first of 2020, he spoke u. S. Killing iranian soleimani. Watch. Schiff is the big leaker, he leads to crazy cnn, you know, off the record, i have to hurry up because everybody is watching me on the hallway of my cell phone, off the record they have the number one terrorist in the world soleimani, they will get him and take him out in the next ten minutes, we have breaking news, President Trump within the next 25 minutes looks to be taking a terrorist general soleimani. Maria this is one of the implications when both sides do not trust each other. Why would President Trump tell nancy pelosi or any of the democrats the plans when in fact, he doesnt trust that they are actually going to share it with anybody and leak it. You have the break in trust, how can you come up with legislation that will move country forward. Its so sad, everything is so political, you are talking about mayor petes comments, thats just one example where politics seem to take precedence over the country. Maria we will take a short break, we are just Getting Started this morning, a lot coming up, theres the impeachment showdown to discuss, the house is Still Holding onto articles of impeachment, no word on when they will actually move on to the senate and the royal exit, the fallout over prince harry and Meghan Markles decision to step down from royal duties that includes council from a very famous voice, wait till you hear this, tips on how to get your credit score back up from 2020 and beyond, stay with us, caught on camera, crazy moment that driveway driver to bail out of speeding car, dont miss that, coming up, new year new zuckerberg, the facebook chief doing away with his annual new years challenge he says, we are back right after this break. Cheryl federal security says that Jeffrey Epstein was accidentally deleted, saved video from the wrong floor on the night he was found with bed sheet around his neck. Correct video has been erased. Epstein found dead in his cell less than a month later. Company pushing back, that report setting shares surging up 12 and a half percent yesterday, walmart, albertsons were reported to be potential buyers but with the denial, stock is now substantially down in the premarket, down almost 8 , then theres this, Mark Zuckerberg is saying goodbye to annual challenge for the new year, instead the facebook ceo says he now wants to take a longerterm focus on the decade, some of the plans includes creating a new private social platform, past personal goals to reading books a month, learning mandarin, dagens favorite, travel every state in the country. [laughter] maria what do you think . Dagen i want to know i want to know what Mark Zuckerbergs goals are every year. Again because if hes travel to go every state when he did that, i think that some of the democrats in washington ought to do that, come of the candidates running for the democratic president ial nomination ought to do that, you know who is doing it, Mike Bloomberg, hes talking to talk about the wage gap and skills gap in Rural America, i think that will be interesting, lets put together a list on what Mark Zuckerberg should focus on. I think he will just focus on paying more lobbyists in dc so people dont talk about breaking up facebook. Dagen theyve got caught flat footed because they thought Hillary Clinton was going to win and the Tech Companies were totally in the pocket of the democrats. Google for one was scrambling to higher lobbyists trump whisper. Maria we were there in 2016, when he can Internal Revenue schmitt was Walking Around and had a tag on that said staff. Dnc staff. That picture was all over. Oh, boy. Dagen elvis no more. Maria there you go, quick break, heros welcome, american firefighters greeted with cheers as they help arrive to help fight wild fires, it was just great, jobs in america this morning, taco bell is having such a hard time finding workers it is now offering 6figure salaries, yes, at taco bell, plus royal rift, the fallout after prince harry and Meghan Markle decide to step back from royal duties, back here in a minute. Only for a limited time maria welcome back another record day on wall street, futures pointing up the dow nearly reaching 29,000 for the First Time Ever, the s p and nasdaq also closing at record highs, dow industrials up 70 points, quarter of a percent, s p is up 9 and nasdaq is up 39 this morning almost half percent as well, joining us right now senior equity analyst, linda, great to have you this morning, thank you so much for joining us, would you put money to work in this market today given the record highs and given the move that we have seen over the last year . Well, yes, i would, people say we should buy now that we are at record highs, if i dont see a recession i can put my money to work, yes. Maria you know, weve got a good backdrop and jobs report, latest estimate 164,000 jobs added and unemployment low of 3 and a half percent, we are looking at wage growth, taco bell is leading the charge, Restaurant Managers are making up to a hundred thousand dollars a year up from 50 to 80,000 so, linda, with wages rising, whats your take in terms of the inflation story, do you think that we are going to see continuation of these wages picking up . This is a reflection of market, but just in general what we have seen in our work on wages is that the best wage growth has come from the bottom, the top hasnt seen very much of increase, wage increase is definitely happening, its been well very under control, this is what we are watching, wages is a good place to look. Hi, john, troubled by the fact that, well, equity analysts are calling for a faster profits growth in 2020, the economists for the most part are predicting slower Economic Growth along with perhaps somewhat faster labor cost growth, how do you square this, how do we get a measurable material acceleration while at the same time the economy is expected to slow . We dont believe the economy is going to slow. I think i maria looks like we lost lindas mic, we will get that back. I thought it was an interesting story in the journal this morning that the moneylosing companies skyrocketed, they look to ge and tesla as well in terms of stocks and how they are up in the last year and yet some of the companies that we are talking about in terms of the big rallies are not making any money, so you have to wonder in terms of the backdrop and whether or not this is sustainable. This is the future versus the past of a company thats struggling versus a gamechanger, i still think some of the stock price, some of the loss in tesla are people betting that tesla will eventually get acquired by somebody else, maybe an apple if it doesnt buy netflix, im throwing that out there, thats total speculation. Tesla is all about technology, expertise in this particular area, theyre ahead of everybody else, thats where the value lies. You know, i also want to bring deterioration of credit quality, last year we had only almost 2 times as many downgrades as upgrades for high yield credit rating, revision, thats troubling and that, the warning there is we could run into some problems in the Financial Markets if this recovery by profits does not materialize quite frankly, s p 500 earnings per share were just flat overall in 2019. Do you think the momentum continues, do you think the market keeps going up . I think it has a chance of going up, its not going to go up as it did last year by 30 . In 2020 the gain will be 5 with great deal of volatile my. I would have a difficult time recommending you somebody who significantly increased their exposure to equities given how richly valued the market is right now. But in terms of the credit worthiness of american individuals, consumer free cash flow, a record high in terms of the individuals having very robust Balance Sheets. We hope that that does better in 2020, thats a positive sign and that can mean all the economists, we will be growing at a rate well above 2 . Also look at auto sales, if home sales climbed by more than 5 , auto sales steady better than expected. Dagen a ford, we went to Mercedes Benz. They couldnt sell a southerner lima beans, so we walked out, thanks Mercedes Benz and we went to ford, bought a ford explorerrer coming off the line, 2020. Maria the next couple of weeks because fourthquarter earning season will begin next week, thats whats going to drive the markets, caught on camera, crazy moment a runway driver attempts to escape speeding car, you dont want to miss this, stay with us on that, the lifestyle brand that people love to hate. Maria welcome back a wild ride caught on camera in michigan. Cheryl check out footage caught on police dash cam, troopers attempt to go pull the driver over seeing circles, instead the guy open it is car, tries to escape, wheels still turning and the car crashes in median, hes running into traffic, the guy eventually arrested but the video unbelievable, sharing it with you this morning. All right now to australia, officials there urging nearly a quarter of a Million People to reeve their homes as wild fires continue to scorch the country. Trained dogs now to help rescue koalas sniff out so handlers can move in to save the animals and one video from sidney National Airport has gone viral, watch. [cheers and applause] cheryl cheers, nothing but cheers, these are american firefighters that just arrived at sidney interNational Airport and that was the reception that they got, obviously they are there to help australian officials fight the deadly fires. I love that video. Best part of my day today, all right, finally one more story, california judge is handing a break to independent truck drivers, they conflict with federal law, measure to reducing labor abuses by requiring companies to treat independent contractors as employees, the city of los angeles is telling fox business, guys, its going to actually appeal this decision. Those are your headlines, all right, cheryl, thank you. Cheryl you bet. Maria turn to deadly plane crash, iran is denying claims that a missile hit iranian jet, it is highly likely missile from iran shot plane down shortly after takeoff killing all 176 people on board, the shot after retaliatory attack against u. S. Military bases in iraq on tuesday, and u. S. Took out Qassem Soleimani. President trump weighed in on the death of soleimani in ohio. Last week the United States once again took the bold and decisive option to save american lives and deliver justice and you know what im talking about. [cheers and applause] for years the mass murderer Qassem Soleimani planned and executed attacks against american targets, killing and wounding thousands of u. S. Service members and many, many thousands and even hundreds of thousands of other people. Maria joining us right now former commander of uss cole, thank you so much for joining us. Good morning, maria. Maria iran denying that it had anything to do with it, was it an accident, what do you think . Well, shock, maria, the iranians actually lying when you look at Russian Missile system and they denied it in mh17, iran buys a same system and now they are denying it, im not surprised, the intelligence that we have on this is absolutely rock solid, the United States is giving iranians an opportunity to come clean and admit it was a mistake, they have yet to do that. They dont want to hand over the black boxes either, refusing to hand over the black boxes, whats the International Response going to be, what should it be . Well, i think right now what the United States did as soon as we got the intelligence which initially was the radar was turned on, obviously tracking the airplane, we caught the plume as the missile left the launcher, we saw it impact right at the back of right side engine which exploded, right side of the aircraft, the wing was lost which would cause lift and this is why you get the turn over to the right where it crashed after falling apart in midair, the International Community will learn more and more as time goes on, the canadians have the full picture, they are also trying to give the iranians an opportunity to come clean on this, they want to do this investigation, at the end of the day, the investigation of this aircraft just like the malaysian aircraft with the russians will prove that iran shut down the airplane. Rob smith here, im curious to get your thoughts on canadian responses, do you think it was forceful or Strong Enough or do you think they handled it just right . I think right now they are handling it just right, they want to maintain some relationship with iranian government that we clearly dont have, obviously over 60 of their citizens were tragically killed in this crash, they want to give time and space but i think as time goes on the canadian government is going to become more forceful with iranians, knowing the intelligence thats backing up that they fired and killed their people and theyre going to demand accountability for this. Dagen commander, its Dagen Mcdowell, we have people on the left prominent democrats essentially laying the blame on President Trump, congresswoman jackie said on cnn yesterday that the ukraine plane crash in iran was, quote, Collateral Damage from trump provocative actions, i actually had to go and watch that video because i thought it was too ridiculous for someone in congress to say that but indeed she did. These people are proving that they are totally clueless when it comes to the death of americans at the hands of iranian government, at the end of the day, the statements that they and others are making in that regard with respect to soleimani and the aftermath is frankly unamerican, its really tragic that we send these young men and women forward to serve our nation and they die at the hands of iranians and all they want to do is give them the final paycheck and watch their hands of it and walk away, the families deserve to know that we as americans, that we as a nation are going to go after those that kill our Service Members and hold them accountable, that had to be an incredible experience for you, thank you for your service, sir. Thank you, maria. Maria all right, we will see you soon. Coming up impeachment showdown, the house Still Holding articles of impeachment with no word of when theyll move to the senate, lifestyle brand dagen loves to hate, shes taking to the high seas and making a buzz this morning coming up for you. Maria welcome back, house lawmakers passing war powers resolution yesterday limiting President Trumps use of military force in iran, the vote 224 to 194 be 8 democrats voting against it but 3 republicans voted for it, florida congressman matt gaetz was amongst them, he explains why, watch this. I think this war powers resolution was worthy of support because it did not criticize the president and did not say it was wrong of killing soleimani and if any nation wants to drag for forever middle east war they require the approval of the United States congress, my belief declaring war is not delegable duty and to suggest that we have to not do our job so people in uniform can do theirs. Maria joining us michael burgess. How did you vote yesterday . Well, i voted the concurrent resolution because actually it wasnt war powers resolution it was a resolution designed to damage the president and i think that was pretty obvious, if you listen to the debate yesterday afternoon, it was on the minds of the party that freight brought the resolution to the floor, we got 40 minutes before it was introduced the night before, there was very little chance to debate, that in the rules committee, many of us felt for some time that, yes, congress does need to reassert its authority with regards to authorization for military force, there has not been a legitimate vote on an authorization like that since i came to congress, congress and the administrations have been operating under 2001 and 2002 authorizations, yeah, i agree with representative gaetz in that regard, this is our obligation, this is something that we should do but the bill yesterday, concurrent resolution yesterday was not and we ought to be supportive of the things that are going on, the death of general soleimani is something that the country will look back at positive inflection point. Maria the rules are that he has to, the executive powers has to check with congress if its just beginning a war or invasion but if youre responding to something, then the president should have the executive power, thats where it stands today. And people with the doubt, google the Baghdad Embassy and look at the pictures of the internal pictures of that embassy after that attack that the general orchestrated, this general was responsible for, under the agreement under president obama, he was not suppose today leave iran, what was he doing in iraq in the first place, he was Touching Base with all of his cronies across the region and he was preparing to launch a much more major attack actionable intelligence was gathered and the opportunity to take him out, look, when i got to congress in the early 2000s there was discussion about bill clinton having the ability to take out bin laden and he didnt do it, when joint chiefs of staff talked about how we would be negligent, everything that the United States that the house of representatives has been doing under democratic leadership is designed to harm the president and thats just wrong, there are things we could do together, i know its a political year, i know its a president ial election year, this sort of stuff with impeachment, this just doesnt fly. Congressman rob smith here, we are going on 17 years of war in iraq, how would you respond to people that say that this resolution would hope to stop a repeat of the situation that we have going on in iraq and you alluded of the idea of things that you can do together to prevent that and what would those ideas be . Well, a true authorization for use of military force would come to Foreign Affairs committee, there would be witnesses, there would be an opportunity for many members who arent on the committee to weigh in, the thing is that the action taken that was brought up to the House Rules Committee presumes that the president was going to launch an invasion into the country of iran which isnt true, if you look at the lining of the resolution, the activity in iran must stop, well, theres activity in iran right now, soleimani was taken out and that was in the country of iraq where he wasnt supposed to be. In 2011 president obama removed troops, is it correct to continue to use that, well, we should have that debate as well but you dont do that when youre in the middle of actually protecting the country. Maria congressman one source told me that he thinks that shes going to send the articles of impeachment over to the senate today, we will see, House Speaker nancy pelosi obviously is sitting on this holding off on sending articles to senate, shes holding firm, watch this, got to get your reaction. No, im not holding them indefinitely, i will send them over when im ready, that will be soon, we want to see what theyre willing to do and the manner in which they will do it but we will not let them say this is just clinton, its not, documents, documentation, witnesses, facts, truth, thats what theyre afraid of. [laughter] maria whats your reaction, congressman . I honestly dont know what to say, the speaker at this point has one job and that job is to take those articles off the speakers desk and take them over to the senate and deliver them for the majority leader in the United States senate, thats really not, its almost as if thats not a constitutional responsibility, thats a bookkeeping responsibility, the president needs a chance to acquit himself, the president needs a chance to defend himself, the trial will happen in the senate, lets get on with that, it is not helping us, you can see this, i mean, the fallout from the vote that we took yesterday internationally i suspect could be significant, the fallout from the Impeachment Vote could be significant, why are we tampering a president who has done more than any other president for which i served, this has been, yes, this has been active administration, theres days where the road has been bumpy but more accomplished in the last 3 years than the last 10 years, this was an important time for us, lets get through this, acquit the president and then get on with business. Maria quite extraordinary. Real quick, have you heard when shes going to send them over, did you hear the rumor that it could be today . Ive heard the rumor it could be today for several weeks now, yeah, you would presume that she would want to bury it late on friday afternoon so it misses the news cycle but the news cycle you know never stops because youll be on sunday morning talking about it. Maria i sure will, congressman, thank you. We will be covering on sunday morning futures, quick break and the royal exit making buzz this morning, prince harry and Meghan Markle take voice from very famous apparently as they step away from duties o and through retirement. Cologuard colon cancer and older at average risk. Ive heard a lot of excuses to avoid screening for colon cancer. Im not worried. It doesnt run in my family. I can do it next year. No rush. Cologuard is the noninvasive option that finds 92 of colon cancers. You just get the kit in the mail, go to the bathroom, collect your sample, then ship it to the lab. Theres no excuse for waiting. Get screened. Ask your doctor if cologuard is right for you. Covered by medicare and most major insurers. Maria welcome back megan and harry making real buzz this morning, more fallouts from the couples decision to step away from the royal family, their wax figures have been removed from royal family set in london, museum tweeted out, its got to respect megan and harrys wishes, this is harry has been in intense discussions with the queen, his brother william and their father Prince Philip and also oprah playing life coach advising the couple about breaking free of the monarchy, dagen, thats what we are hearing but dagen Oprah Winfrey has denied it, i care about them both and support whatever decisions they make for their family, clearly whats here megan and harry want to be, start a kardashianlike clan in north america. [laughter] are we going to keeping up with dagen some association for royal family, for Meghan Markle, i will point to sarah ferguson, after she separated from the royal family she was, it wound up years down the road having to borrow money from a pedophile epstein. You dont have the spotlight of royal family. She can be, i agree with you, maybe she wants to go back to acting, they are both young, megan is gorgeous and harry is kind of afreight and i think that they want to go and make a go of it in hollywood, they want to be famous, they want to be lifestyle gurus. The real question what becomes of those wax versions of megan and harry . Where do they end up . Maria how about this Gweneth Paltrow partnering for celebrity cruises, 2,000 per person. One of your favorite brands. I dont like to use the word hate but this might apply, never been a fan of the privileged gewenth paltrow and i would rather have my toenails removed. I disagree, dagen, i think you love to hate gweneth, youre a hater fan. You love the hater. Dagen i just hate, i dont like people who come from wealth and act like they made it on their own, born into fame. Maria it is jobs friday, everybody, we are getting decembers job report out in an hour and a half, back in 2minutes time. Maria welcome back. Good friday morning, everybody. In asia overnight, markets were mostly higher. The best performer there was korea, kospi up almost 1 . President Trump Holding his first rally of the year, telling the crowd in ohio last night he hopes former Vice President joe biden will become the democratic nominee. Tv overload, over 500 new shows made in 2019 and that number is expected to rise this year. 5 500 original shows. All those stories coming up this morning. Joining me to break it down, john lonski, Dagen Mcdowell and iraq war veteran rob smith. Great to have everybody this morning. Great to be here. Thank you. Maria got a lot to talk about this morning. Our top story this hour, the iran plane crash. Iran reportedly inviting boeing to help investigate this weeks deadly ukrainian crash that killed 176 people on board. Iran is denying shooting down the jet after the u. S. Said intelligence supports the he scenario that they did shoot it down. Victims were from canada and Justin Trudeau weighed in on the investigation yesterday. This may well have been unintentional. This new information reinforces the need for a thorough investigation into this matter. Canadians have questions and they deserve answers. Maria joining us now, former cia officer, fred flights. Good to see you this morning. Thanks so much for being here. Good morning. Maria what do you think happened here . Well, maria, its a terrible tragedy and i think it simply is a sign that when you use terrorism as part of state craft, terrible things are going to happen. This is something that iran brought upon itself. It was apparently something done by miscalculation and the iranian governments going to have to own up for this. Maria yeah, but i mean, theyre denying it. Are we ever going to get to the bottom of it, fred . Well, i mean, this is just the way he regimes like this go. They never tell the truth. Theyll probably always deny it. But i think the evidence on what happened here is fairly apparent. Theres actually video thats out right now of a missile apparently hitting this plane and you can see the explosion in the air. So the iranian government can deny it as much as it wants. The facts are facts. Maria go ahead, john, did you want to jump in . My question here would be, the iranian economy is performing horribly. Its one of the worst economies in the world right now. Supposedly it slangs by near shrank by 10 in 2019, expected to shrink yet again in 2020. Theres got to be some threshold at which the iranian government has to choice but to try to improve its standing with the International Community, hoping to get these very restrictive sanctions eased somehow. Ddo you think were moving closr to that point . Thats an excellent point. President trumps maximum pressure policy has put enormous pressure on the iranian economy. Its not just undermining support for the regime because of economic problems, its led to antiiran protests in lebanon, iraq and even in syria and the president s waiting for the time when the iranian government is ready to do the right thing and start negotiations to end these sanctions, but in the meantime, hes going to keep the pressure up. Rob smith here. I have a question. Do you think iran is buying time, making this invitation for others to come help them investigate whats going on here when all of the intelligence tells us what happened. I think the iranian government is in denial, its playing political games. It never tells the truth. Its always making idle threats against the United States and others. It continues to say its complying with the Nuclear Deal Even though theres plenty of evidence its been cheating on the agreement from the start. We cant believe anything it said. Maria the president held a l rally in ohio, speaking out about the killing of general soleimani. Listen to this. As the leader of irans terrorist quds force, soleimani spread death, destruction and mayhem across the middle east and beyond. He ordered the violent assault on the American Embassy in baghdad and you saw this was the antibenghazi. We got there he ver very quickl. Soleimani was actively planning new attacks and he was looking very seriously at our embassies and not just the embassy in baghdad. But we stopped him and we stopped him quickly and we stopped him cold. Maria yet, fred, nancy pelosi with her resolution vote last night in terms of limiting the president s powers in terms of dealing with such provocations. Its really a shame. Politics are supposed to end at waters edge and the president said he did not notify congress about this sensitive military operation because he was worried about leaks. We have to face the reality that the National Security debate has become poisoned by trump derangement syndrome and frankly the real possibility of leaks. I hate to say that. I know members and staff on the house intelligence committee, they really believe that adam schiff has been leaking. Its really a sad commentary that the president can not get congressional buyin for situations like this, operations like this in advance, but he has to keep the lives of american soldiers in mind. If he thinks congress was going to leak, they simply dont deserve advanced notification of these operations. Maria this is extraordinary. This is a moment in time when weve got serious situations unfolding and the president cannot trust the congress not to leak and they dont trust each other, theyre not talking about we havent even had i dont think the Intel Committee has had a meeting, a hearing on iran at all in the last year. I mean, i dont know how many months its been but its all about impeachment. This is very unfortunate. I think were at a moment here where American Security and operations and things of this nature, these are things that should be bipartisan. And were in a point right now where it seems that everything is about political gain, especially from the left. I do not blame them at all a for keeping the information about this attack away from the left because i do believe that they would have leaked it. Maria you were nodding when the president was talking a minute ago about the antibenghazi. Youre an iraq war veteran, tell me why you were nodding. I wassed nodding because it was i was nodding because it was absolutely right. This is the antibenghazi. When you look how quickly america reacted to the attack on embassy whichs was predicated by the killing of an American Contractor and predicated by the killing of hundreds of american soldiers, when you look at you how quick the response was, it was antibenghazi. We lost not a single american soldier during this entire process. Maria where does this go . What happens now . I think the president took the right approach with soleimani. I believe hes going to stay the course concerning iran. We have to see whats going to happen in iraq. The iraqi Prime Minister asked the u. S. Overnight to send a delegation to iraq to discuss the withdrawal of american troops. I dont think thats going to happen. But frankly, if the Iraqi Government doesnt want us there, we should leave. Its an enormous expenditure for our country and were there to help the people of iraq. But i dont think that that question has been settled yet. Dagen however, fred, because the narrative out of the left was immediately with the killing of a known terrorist, soleimani, who had killed americans, 608 american troops just in iraq alone, the narrative was this is world war iii. This is were going to lead to the loss of life with blood on President Trumps hands. But in fact, theres at least an equal likeliedhood that troops come home, rather than more troops going into the region, right . I think thats right. And its really important to notice that this missile attack conducted by iran either failed because the iranians fired missiles that were not capable of hitting their targets or they were very accurate missiles that they designed not to hit the targets and the reason for that is they did not want to provoke a war and they were worried about how President Trump would respond. Hes a credible leader. He does not want to get into a war but he will respond overwhelmingly if americans are killed. Maria fred, we will leave it there. To be clear, the iranian Investigation Team says it will first seek to analyze the black boxes but it is willing to hand over the socalled black boxes to another country for analysis. Theyre talking about u. K. , u. S. , ukraine, france, canada, to probe whats behind the crash. Dagen there are ukrainian individuals on the ground going to help with the investigation. Maria fred, its good to see you this morning. Thank you. Good to be here, thank you. Maria quick break and were awaiting the december jobs reportings out in just over an hour andahalf. Hes really achieved a lot and is a great shining example for people who suffer from hearing loss. I didnt know that. Maria were waiting on jobs in america this morning. Looks like these folks paid a little more than everyone else. And this guy got the deal of a lifetime. This is how car buying was always meant to be. This is truecar. narrator before you buy a car, see what others paid for it with truecar. Maria welcome back. It is jobs friday today, we are waiting the december jobs report. The latest expectations show 164,000 jobs added to the economy in the month of december. The Unemployment Rate sticking to a 50year low of 3 andahalf percent. Joining us right now, ken mahoney. Good to see you this morning. Whats priced into the market right now . Is it about 160,000 . Do you think if we have a number much different than that, markets move on this . I dont know. The last couple times ive been here on set and i took the over. Im not going to jinks myself. Im going to take the over 164,000 again. This is a job creation economy machine right now. Business services, healthcare, the number of jobs, its unbelievable. Maria we hit more record highs yesterday. Were in unchartered territory. Dow industrials about to hit 29,000. I think it those do with the fed. Year ago, the Balance Sheet was contracting 60 billion a month. A year later, were expanding the Balance Sheet by 100 billion per month. The last four months, 400 billion. I think thats driving the markets right now. Its a stealth qe, sotospeak. When you look at 2019, the market benefited enormously from the unexpected drop of from rates, shortterm rates, corporate bonds, whatever. This year i dont think youll see a repeat of the decline by Interest Rates. Theres a possibility they may edge higher towards years end. Were leaning heavily on a recovery. Where is the recovery going to come from . I think its also just kind of catching up with performance. Its the fear of being left out of the market is one of the things that happened of Human Behavior is emotional, doesnt always go to logic. Heres the ratio and heres the numbers. When it goes like this and you get behind the eight ball, moneys in the market to keep up with the joneses. Looking ahead to 2020, you avoid a material decline by profits. If you get that, youll be in a lot of trouble since the market is so richly valued, the higher pe ratio, the more Downside Risk you have in case you run into bad news. Its interesting the jobs report we have today, it used to be a tug of war, push and pull, but were root forge a good number now. Rooting for a good number now. Here comes chai comes fed chairh a bucket of coldwater. We root for a good number, above 164,000, hopefully. The fed indicated theyre willing to tolerate faster price inflation, in order to compensate for the low inflation of the past. On the other hand, the bond market may not think the same way the fed does. The bond market may become frightened if they see the fed becoming more tolerant of faster price growth. You could he see a steepening of the yield curve. The 10 year, 180, 190, that would lift and cause more competition in the stock. We start having a ten year, two andahalf, 3 , money is going to start sloshing back into bonds, out of stocks. The biggest ring thi risk this s higher Interest Rates. Dagen theres not any money money continued even this year to flood into fixed income. If anything, people are probably underallocated to stocks and overallocated to treasuries which look like they have price risk in, if youre buying at 1. 85 on the 10year. There were a lot of job gains in the healthcare sector last year. What do you think some of the conversation were having about healthcare, coming from both sides, mainly from the left, how do you think that could affect the amount of jobs we have in that sector. Maria were going to need a million new nurses. Were living longer, well in iss a big the demographics are shifting. We really need healthcare. Employers cant get enough employees. The pendulum swung almost too much the way other way, we neede people to hire. Theres not enough qualified people. You have to keep people in the workforce longer l. I mean, de facto the retirement age may become 72 years, looking into the future, if you have a shortage of younger workers. Over the next 10 years, americans age 65 and older growing by 1. 8 million per year. On the other hand, americans age 20 to 64 will be growing by roughly 400,000 people per year. Who is going to take care of us. Maria bottom line. Bottom line. You want to buy stocks here or hold off . We are definitely extended. Were not overbought. My goto last year was xlk. Thats apple and microsoft centric but it worked very well many way lik. We like technologye growth. I think one thing to consider, the rest of the world has lagged behind the United States, maybe well get lucky in 2020 and the rest of the world is going to wake up and these companies, you were speaking about that have global exposure will exceed expectations. That would be nice. Would like to see Profit Growth and not having the heavy lifting done by multiple expansion like we saw last year. Maria the Fourth Quarter earnings season kicks off next week. Right to the banks. Maria the banks reporting Fourth Quarter next week. John, i want to get your expectations in terms of Profit Growth for the Fourth Quarter and all of 2020. Jobs in america, the december jobs report out this morning, economists are looking for 164,000 jobs added to the economy in the month of december with the Unemployment Rate Holding Steady at 3. 5 . Markets are higher this morning, pushing toward another record high as we await jobs reports. Were in unchartered territory with the dow industrials up 56 of points, heading up 50 points, heading towards 29,000. The dow will be, if it does rally, hitting 29,000 for the First Time Ever. Yesterday the dow, nasdaq and s p 500 hit record high territory, all record highs as you can see there with the 211 point rally in the dow yesterday and 74 points higher on the nasdaq at 9203. Alltime high there. The s p posted its 117th record close under President Trump. Global markets this morning look like this. Gamble calling the charges false. Finally, cigarettes, alcohol and texting, one lawmaker in vermont is proposing a ban on cell phones for people under the age of, get this, 21. Violators could face up to a year in jail, 1,000 fine or both. State senator john rogers wrote the bill, he said cell phones are behind teenage driving deaths, bullying and rail cadizeation. He radicalization. You can be 18 years old to fight for your country but you cant have a cell phone. Maria thats a good point. Cheryl makes tons of sense. Maria we want to turn to 2020, new fox news polls show the democratic advantage over President Trump has actually narrowed in potential head to head matchups according to wisconsin voters. Another poll shows joe biden holding a large lead in south carolina, you you ahead by 21 s tom steyer jumps into second place. Joining us now, foster freeze. Im heading for 80 in a you few months so good to be anywhere. Maria whats your take on where we are in terms of the political story . Youve got the democrats getting ready for another debate, the last debate coming up before iowa. Whats your take in terms of where we are going into that . I think the big issue Going Forward is the issue of socialism versus capitalism. I think we have to define those terms a little bit better and not use those terms but instead say government control versus free markets. And its so easy to sell these young people who have be indoctrinated about the wonders of socialism by letting them know in denmark which is a market economy, 60 income tax, 25 sales tax and 180 excise tax on new cars. And the trick is how do we let them see that our current government is so overextended its almost greece like. Take eight zeros off government numbers and youll see a household with a 230,000 credit card tab and Elizabeth Warren wants to take private doctors, private hospitals and dump it on top of that. So i think were going to look forward to a real landslide come 2020. Maria Elizabeth Warren also wants to have a wealth tax. Lets talk about that. Theres a new reuters ipso poll this morning that shows 64 of americans are in favor of putting a wealth tax on the very rich. Naturally, that would be if 64 of the people arent wealthy, why not tax somebody else. Someone has said jesus was really a socialist. But its anything but that. You remember the story about the talents and one guy hid in the bush and he got chastised for not being productive. I believe we must encourage our productive people and on my website, fosterfreeze. Com, theres a wonderful cartoon that shows an island where someone goes out with a fishing boat, starts getting more fish, and now the islands prospers because of the entrepreneurial spirit of creating more productivity even though the disparity in income went up to fivefold. Income inequality is what we cherish in america, its the American Dream. I started out with 200 from the army. Now ive been blessed, been able to give away 200 million and still have a few bucks left. So i think you want to look to more foster freezes in the world and why take my money away, you want to encourage people like me. Maria you want to believe in the American Dream that you can come from nothing and achieve Great Success and our audience really, we want people to understand what the welt taxis. Weve been wepwealth tax. You can work your whole life and if you goat get to a certain pt will be confiscated. Thats a wealth tax. It could be your art, your home, whatever youve accumulated over your life. Another thing we say on this program is that money is mobile. So what are the implications of this . More Business Leaders are fleeing to places that are either no state tax or low taxes, states like florida, texas, for the warm weather and the tax relief. Foster, youre coming to us this morning from texas where theres no state income tax. Weve got a graphic on screen showing all the states that have no state income tax. Thats where you see population growth. Yes. Im actually resident of wyoming which also doesnt have any tax. To your point, maria, in scandinavia when people are taxed based on their wealth, some of them dont have any income anymore and people have had to sell antiques and sell dishes and china in order to pay their tax. So i think its part of the nastiness thats crept into our society and lets look at the people who believe in free markets versus the people who believe in government control and it lines up with christianity and Judeo Christian values and secularism. Most of the people that want government control are pretty much secular in spirit and Dennis Prager warned when jewish friends were concerned about christmas celebrations in government run schools, he said dont discourage that. He said the biggest concern we have in america is secularism. Maria Michael Bloomberg is a a billionaire, 202 2020 democratic candidate and he wants to raise taxes. He rolled out his plan, promising to raise the minimum wage and steer more kids to college. Your reaction to what youre hearing from Michael Bloomberg. Does he have a shot in this election to take down donald trump. He does not have a prayer. Theyre going to play his tape where he decides we can tax people for drinking big sodas and that hits the little guy. I dont care if the little guy has to pay more taxes, as long as we get him more healthy and he has the classic government im better than the rest of you because im successful and im going to tell you how to lead your life. Whats exciting about america, you and i decide how to lead our lives. We have to fight for that. The young people at the colleges have been mess herized. I encourage you to see a film called no safe spaces, one of the highest producing documentaries. Dennis prage and his friend, they go around showing what is had happening with the lack of freedom of speech. Maria i did hear a lot about that. Real quick, you are so knowledgeable about policy. Are you considering getting into politics . Are you going to run for wyoming senators open seat in the senate . I was late getting into the governors rate, 119 days ahead of time and i wound up winning the most republican votes before the democratic crossovers which are possible in wyoming, wiped me out. Im a late starter. Im going to hold my cards close to my vest. One day i might p pop into it and another time i might not. We have cynthia and liz cheney were remarkable women. Wyoming was the first state that had women sufficient raj, suffer yagrage, well before we became a state. Maria well be watching you, foster. I like that about women. Its good to see you. Thank you. Love you, maria. Keep us your good work. Youre a Real National treasure. Maria we so appreciate you. Tv producers making more shows than ever. Some are calling it peak tv. Deirdre bolton has more on what this means for the future of the entertainment industry. These numbers are incredible. They are incredible. U. S. Tv industry producing 532 shows in 2019, 7 more than 2018. There is more to come. Now, the man who is known as the mayor of tv, fxs ceo, he spoke yesterday at an event. He says theres too much content being produced and, quote, the danger is that everything becomes junk food. He was particularly critical of Tech Companies that back shows financially without needing to make money on them. Those in the room heard that as a shot against netflix. He pointed out that over the past decade, hbo released 19 of the shows on critics top 10 list, fx second, netflix came in fifth place. Netflix started producing original content with house of cards, if you count that as the launch in 2013, so even less than a decade ago. New streaming competitors coming online this year, comcast, nbc universal, pe peacock, hbo max, Warner Brothers studios, loony tunes, peacock including back episodes of the office and cheers and originals. There will be ads on the tv. There will also be an adfree paid service to launch concurrently. Bottom line is this. Industry execs are spending on content money is flowing and most say the numbers are higher because the stakes are higher. If you look at the 52week returns for thee stocks, apple outperforming. Apple tv is far from being the only business. Whats clear is it will be a few years before we know which bets paid off. Maria apple up 100 , maybe more than just tv, right, up 101 on apple. Exactly. Exactly. Maria unbelievable. I dont know how this can continue or sustain all those shows and all the billions that netflix is spending. It will take a few years before we really see which bets paid off. So probably a lot of smiles when the score card comes in and a lot of tears, maria. Maria good point. Great to see you. Side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, belly pain, and decreased appetite, which lead to dehydration and may worsen kidney problems. I have it within me to lower my a1c. Ask your doctor about trulicity. Maria welcome back. We are watching your wallet, Credit Scores are soaring, americas average credit score in 2019 reached and alltime high of 706 according to fico. Our next guest knows how to keep the scores climbing. Joining us now, ted rossman. Thank you for joining us. Tell us some of the best ways to accumulate credit and why you need to get a good score. The number one factor is paying your bills on time. Do that every time. That part is more of a marathon. Something you can do quickly is to lower your credit utilization ratio. This is part of the second biggest factor. Maria explain what that is. That is how much credit youre using divided by total credit limits. What people dont realize is that even if you pay your credit cards in full every month and you should, you may still have a high ratio which is hurting your score. Lets say you make 4,000 of charges throughout the month. You have 5,000 limit. Thats an 80 ratio. Thats really high. We want you to keep it below 30 if you can, below 10 would be even better. So the solution, regardless of where you are on the credit or income spectrum, make an extra payment midmonth, knock that ratio down before the statement generates. Thats going to help your score. Maria okay. If i came to you and i said ted, what is the number one thing that i can do to get my score you up right now, whats the first thing you would tell me to do. Thats what i would do is lower your credit utilization ratio. Thats very actionable. Some of the other things like paying your bills on time, great habit. You should do it. Its going to take time. The utilization ratio, lowering that will help you immediately. Another one, sign up for experion boost. Its for those that have he low credit or no credit. Establishing credit is hard. It looks at things that dont traditionally count as credit. Cell phone payments, utility payments. With your permission, theyll look at your bank account. If youre making those payments on time, that can help your score. They say the average improvement is 13 points. Does that cost any money . It does not. Its instant. I would say look into that if your score is below 700, lets say. Maria what are some of the popular credit card offers the in 2020. Most people dont realize that credit card rates are so high. I mean, youve got rock bottom rates elsewhere and yet a Credit Card Company can charge, what, 19 . The average is about 17 if you have good credit, about 25 if you have bad credit. A very popular card is the chase sapphire reserve. This ones been in the news this week because they just raised their annual fee from 450 to 550. I know it sounds steep. But this card is really beloved by many, especially millennial young professional urban types. Maria why . It appeals to travelers. They give you a 300 a year travel credit. You get into a lot of airport lounges for free. Theres other perks. Some of the new ones they introduced this week to go along with the higher fee are a 60 door dash credit, free lyft pink membership which gives you discounts and priority access at airports. Its all about the experience these days. Some of the best credit cards are really tapping into peoples love of travel, dining, ongoing value. What i want to know is youre in the Consumer Credit card industry. Do you have any feeling as to whether or not Consumer Credit quality is getting better, worse or holding the same . Maria thats a good question. Real quick. We see Credit Scores going up. People are keeping up with their bills. Delinquencies are low. Theyre not getting you ahead. Two thirds of credit card debtors owe at least as much now as they have over the past decade. Maria well be right back. Jobs friday coming you up. This old thing, do you . No or how bout this dinosaur right here . Nope then why are you still using a laser printer . Its got expensive toner cartridges. But this. Is the Epson Ecotank color printer. No more expensive cartridges big ink tanks. Lots of ink. If you dont think this printers right for you, just pick up your phone. chuckling . And give me a call. The Epson Ecotank. Just fill and chill. Available at. Im but how do i know if, im getting a good deal . Truecar knows exactly how much people have been paying for the car i want. I tell truecar my zip and what car im into, and it shows me the truecar curve. This shows the range of prices people in my area actually paid for the same car. An ma rights group peta blasting aoc for buying a purebred French Bulldog instead of buying from a shelter. Aoc introduced her pet to the twitter followers. Its a sweet dog but we like rescue dogs. Dagen rescuing an animal, adopting one rather than buying one is completely nonpartisan. I dont i like tweets all the time from keith ow owe oberman. Hes a huge advocate for adopting animals. I will like them over and over again. Every day in this country, 2,000 cats and dogs that would make perfect family pets are euthanized. 2,000 every day. Maria its an unbelievable number. Dagen please dont go out and buy a dog, particularly one from a pet store. I walk by a pet store and i sounded like yosemite sam, gram blingrumbling under my breath. Maria you have two rescues, charlie and ramone and i have a rescue. And theres my dusty girl. She is so sweet, my dusty, she knows i rescued her. The rescue dogs, i think they know and theyre so grateful and i love her. You guys am i the only one that thinks that this is maybe a case of woke olympics gone wild here . When aoc isnt woke enough, i mean it kind of gives you a little pause. Dagen im the furtherrest furg from woke. Every turn, i will advocate for rescuing an animal. Maria me too. Dagen its not about shame. Shes in a position where she could turn the tide and get more people out there in shelters. I wish she had done that. Maria a big thank you to petco foundation. Thats where i found my dusty. Something old, something new, Something Borrowed and some charity to pay for it. I hate calling it flyover america, but this is the case, at employers across the country walmart for example get starting out, at a a low not low, but average wage walmart north of 13 dollars an hour not minimum wage but working up into management, you do at walmart you get paid six figures the watch about wage number if it donate come in 3. 1 looks weaker there airs calendar quirk the wall street journal points out should mention december 12 this month that is when the wage survey was based in 15th a common payday they didnt follow in same week, so that payday fell after the survey was done. Maria 13th. If it comes in weaker, than that might be we are going to get a bias in this report for manufacturing employment we are not seeing 55,000 jobs created in manufacturing, again, that number, could be close to zero but i wouldnt worry about it. Expectation for manufacturing job creation is us 5,000, but we saw the ism report last week, ing the manufacturing report, fell unexpectedly to the lowest reading in more than 10 years it was about ten 1 2 years, one of the reasons was we think it is because boeings decision to pause on the 737 max production, interesting to see, where manufacturing comes in here if it ends up, up if you see job destruction might be. Ism has a survey of nonmanufacturing, and the Employment Index rather strong. I want to see retail getting crushed obviously, by if you are indicates sector. The issue at retail, in adp report leisure lost jobs leisure lowest paying job sector lowest Second Lowest retail. Restaurants hotels. Leisure retail losing but these people going to warehouse jobs from to 530, to 849 bucks a week you know what i am saying. Maria changing warehousing you leave your job you know he serving drinks for minimum wage get a job at so i am not as concerned about these retail jobs because, the jobs that people are getting, are higherpaying jobs i like that i think that is important. I would rather work in a where you have a like retail ice tea, demand peoples moods i did free service i have utmost respect for people, in in also worked in the dressing room of the bathing suit shop i had to help women try on bathing suits. That was that was that was hard than anything i have ever done because people you know people are note happy with the way bathing suit fits, your fault. Maria welcome back, December Jones report is due out a few minutes economists expecting 164,000 jobs added to the dmi last month Unemployment Rate steady at 3. 5 , joining us no break it down former the wall street journal editorial member steen moore here chief workforce analyst Johnny Courtney here Jon Hilsenrath here all handson deck thank you so much everybody for being here kick off with you your expectations what will we see for the final months last month i was so wrong, because i preektdz we would be below the expectation predicted below we were above it i dont know expecting about the you know 150 to 175,000 i will say i do think you are going to see the wages continue to rise at the a very a healthy pace maria that is because, the labor market so tight i love that article in the the wall street journal yesterday, that the Census Bureau cannot find people to do krenss not enough workers in this country that is a good piece Jon Hilsenrath a good handle on things, right now, we are looking at a backdrop, that is pretty strong, but does it continue in todays report. Have maria i think backdrop is key it is why we should expect you know another solid month of hiring in this jobs report, we have very low Interest Rates we have, about the government in washington despite all this talking about gridlock, spending gobs and gobs of money to keep this economy strong i think expansion going moderate pace going in 2020 healthy pace producing jobs about. Where are the jobs Joanie Courtney we saw recovery a little in manufacturing that is going to be a factor this morning what about retail that is getting crushed in terms of job losses recently. Yeah, maria you know, i think, when you look at manufacturing, and retail those are two areas that we may see a slowdown, certainly in december. But i would expect that all the other sectors will perform pretty well we are still seeing a very Strong Demand in the professional and Business Service sector i would saying everything but manufacturing, and possibly retrial, should look pretty good. Dagen you said you are focused on rises because you with a nt to see if we see a change from november. Dagen right, 266,000 is the number we got officially in enforce november the range we are expecting range strong for month of december it is 125,000 up to 266,000 for december. So anything below 100,000 would be a huge miss not expecting that though. Maria lets jump into a short break then december jobs report right after this, stay with us. At fidelity, online u. S. Welcome back breaking news december jobs report due out in about two minutes time we are expecting 164,000 jobs added to economy in december, we are expecting Unemployment Rate to hold steady 3. 5 paris, markets are rationalization this morning, ahead head he intoed this report we have another round of record highs ahead of the report dow industrials up 39 points all of the highs this morning nonetheless close to 29,000 level that would be First Time Ever, all of the averages finished yesterday at alltime highs Charles Payne we have to look at adp report out earlier this week, to get some sense what have we my expect that was much betterthanexpected. Much better better, Small Business particularly 1 to 19 employees suffering because high wages also, tough to find qualified workers they cant compete with big boys, nice rebound across the board. We want private sector jobs in this economy not government jobs. Absolutely. Why i like adp those are the small, medium sized employers that they are the spinal cord of the American Economy. Right, Small Business as well. Small business rebounded nicely construction was really nice i think huge construction today. Wages dagen . What are you expecting there, 3. About 1 what we have been getting over and over again. For the last year. Dagen we will break down what is going on, with the rankandfile workers first the higher paid workers, because in the month of november, pay for the bottom many 25 rose 4 1 2 the top 25 it was 2. 9 so again over and over again this is narrowing income inequality gap. Seeing reduction in income inequality in income the opposite. Maria you wrote oped in journal five, issue four months ago a great piece that you wrote. 5,000 there are a spree of per family three years a lot. Maria huge. Dont be fooled by that increase 3. 1 the article you said High School Dropouts wages up 9 bottom of the income up 7 . Dagen Unemployment Rate for High School Dropouts record low. Amazing. Maria i read that in journal this morning good point looking ating revisions at earnings, of course, looking at wages. Job participatesr participation always look at that jo. Maria job Participation Rate tells you who is participation in this economy right here 164,000 is the estimate lets get right to the Labor Department right now Edward Lawrence right there now with the number. Reporter 145,000 jobs have been created by this economy last month, stronger than 39,000, in private sector 6,000 Public Sector Unemployment Rate remains unchanged 3. 5 , in about october revisions are down 4,000, november down 10,000 total necessary revision last two months 14,000, are long term u6 versus record low 6. 7 , longterm unemployment unchanged, 20. 5 of the population average hourly wages rose 3 cents that is 2. 9 gain past 12 months last time was under 3 with july, 2018 labor forceing Participation Rate unchanged 63. 2 on average hourly workweek, unchanged at 34. 3 hours, nonsupervisory wages up two cents up yearoveryear last 12 months white Unemployment Rate the 3. 2 unchanged 5. 9 black Unemployment Rate rose from 5. 6 hispanic Unemployment Rate to 4. 2 asian Unemployment Rate 2. 5 health care added 28,000 jobs manufacturing losing 12,000 jobs, mining, losing 8,000 jobs, in retail, adding 41,000 Jobs Construction, on Positive Side 20,000 jobs, and Leisure Hospitality at 40,000 jobs so bottom creating 1245,000 jobs last month 145,000, unemployment 3. Want 5 average hourly wages under 3 last p 12 months 2. 9 back to you. Maria markets steady even though number weakerthanexpected we are expecting a slower pace final month of the year right jon. Lets not forget 2 growth of the labor force because of demographics slowing down so becomes very difficult to sustain payroll growth close to 200,000 in fact the way it stands today as long as we grow payrolls between 75,000, and 100,000 new jobs the Unemployment Rate will not rise that is critical importance. To jon skwlon what do you think jon how do you see it . Two things you know there are a couple of pieces in this that look being on the surface a little softer than expected i would say dont worry about them the headlined jobs number 145,000, that is after a very strong november, you average two out over two months, we still have, right down the fairway, unemployment growth, net wage looks soft but calendar quirk 12th of the month survey is done happened in a different week than 15th most paychecks come through. In those instances you tend to get wage numbers a little bit soft but i he wouldnt get too alarmed by that this report, is right down the middle of fairway, the economy on strong foot cigarette into 2020. Markets up, up from before number dagen you said exactly that a few minutes ago on the 15th of month. Dagen rightly wage number surprise to downside there would be a reason for that plus nonsupervisory wages grew at 3 again that has been something we have seen over and over month after month nonsupervisory wages rankandfile workers their pay going up faster than the overall average and certainly has been faster than the top earners this in this crunch rankandfile seeing wage gains outpacing that, of their bosses in terms of percentage growth, one other thing to add, that and ed at Labor Department mentioned this that october november only arrived lower by i think 14,000 jobs. So that is a revision to the downside but not dramatic so still a healthy more than 200 about more than 250,000 jobs added in november. Reason i hes taitdz when you asked me few minutes ago about jobs report i anticipated we might be a little bit lower get downwardings revisions. You didnt want to stick your neck out you did last time. It is hard to sustain 200,000 jobs, a month, when youve got, you know when youve got a tight labor market, i agree with Jon Hilsenrath, you are exactly right jon down the middle fairway maybe slightly weaker than we hoped for. Maria at the weaker, only up onetenth of a percent. One number concerned me a little bit what was the number for manufacturing that was manufacturing that is concerning. Producing overall for me the disappointment here mining down 8,000, i know counts dropped dramatically mo won talks about this producing strong amount of oil at 2017 levels im the i am not sure what is going on there you lose great paying jobs, it is a small number i dont like seeing of course i i thought reconstruction 30 or 40,000. This reportedly tells us that inflation gz expectations if anything moved lower in response to the jobs report this prevent Interest Rates from rising to any degree that mine be disruptive to the economy so good news us though is that the real unemployment number u6 record low, we should point that out real unemployment number alltime record low. Shows that the big problem right now frankly with labor market and we hear from businesses all over the country, is finding the workers, so now getting a lot of workers on sidelines, what was labor force Participation Rate. We need maria we need to get more workers into this labor force i estimate 5 to 10 million americans employable working image not work should go be working we need to procure policies population ratio peeked in april 2000, 58. 0, was 55. 5 last month about nvb i didnt see it today that is again, the weve got more people in labor force but could be so many more to your point so many more. Maria Joanie Courtney tell us where you see jobs highpaying jobs at that, manufacturing in mining lower you called that you said manufacturing would be under pressure what do you see. Yes, we are definitely seeing still i think a little bit of a slowdown in manufacturing, a lot of that still with you know some trade, certainty, but i know you have to take a look at another Economic Indicator by the bureau of labor statistics which is the report job option report, that number was actually revised upward, it is 7. 3 million open jobs. And i did a quick survey when i knew i would be on this morning, i asked all of my managers throughout the u. S. , california, colorado, texas, florida like how are they feeling about the market . And right now they are having an influx of job openings, and demand, the challenge still to what charles and steve moore were speaking about is the tight labor market. So jobs are you definitely out there there is a demand, we are seeing wages increase, i think we are going to continue to see that. I would actual go right now you know on the books saying we are going to see a good number for january, because employers are more optimistic i am seeing them move faster they want to make those hires we did see things maybe slow down a little bit in december, i think that is partly due to the challenges that we have with trade, and skill shortage i think january is going to be aing pretty good month for job growth. Retail up 41. 2000 for the to month i wonder if this is sustainable case december you would expect retail to hire a lot of temporary workers. Numbers are seasonally adjusted that is a pretty high number. Maria it is a high num i am surprised. You had a weak number in december as a result you expected perhaps these more in terms of layoffs after Holiday Shopping season january the layoffs did not happen seasonally adjusted retrial employment gets can i chime in on manufacturing and mining upping. Yes. There has been a lot of talk last couple years about, bringing back you blue collar jobs renaissance in manufacturing, i mean i think we should be happy as a you can that weve seen stabilization in growth there, but this is still the United States economy is still becoming a service orptare oriented tech driven big in san Jose California austin texas urban areas producing white collar tech service jobs we should look for those areas the real engines of growth manufacturing, it is great that it is stabilizes produced few more jobs last few years wages rising that is not taking us into 21st century. After trade deal is done signed sealed i delivered from interest china. Supposed to be about 15 next week. Dont know if they will abide by it if they do dublgdz, that would double exports next couple years two would be manufacturing and agriculture i think next six months we are going to see positive numbers, manufacturing, as we have, by the way, since trump was elected, those blue collar Jobs Construction mining drilling manufacturing up a million and half jobs. Wages, followed. One thing into manufacturing here certainly played into the weakness that we saw in the ism manufacturing index, was the fires and power cuts in california, in december then also the decision by boeing that will play through the economy, to spend production of the 737 max jet, that could show up in other areas. Those are two really critical parts of manufacturing, Pay Attention to. Part of the problem manufacturing, there has been a drop in auto salesout industry employment manufacturing 2 1 2 five years ago to peak at 14, january 2017, 12272 million factor workers now 12508 almost 600,000 more construction about 6857 now 7500 payrolls in this country 150 million like i said, it is great that we are producing a few hundred thousand more manufacturing jobs more importantly, but the bleeding in the manufacturing, sector has stopped a few hundred thousand isnt driving this economy forward we have 1250 Million People on payroll, to look at at farming you know we talked about nonfarm payrolls, because farming has become a small part of the employment sector if you look at dairy sector there is plainti massive consolidation going on small farms closing consolidated into bigger farms great sectors are stating if you look towards future, tech jobs service oriented. Animal spirits entire country ag and manufacturing going well there is Something Special about that. Maria dont Forget Health care. For the country no Economic System works unless people are about optimistic. Dagen you are clearly not running for any political of those i am sure not. Dagen youre kind of poohpoohing the folks i grew up with again manufacturing jobs in the where are the opportunities i am not poohpoohing a single soul on planet i am saying the growth is going to be in those areas where it is dagen i say that in jest. Um saying in jest when you tell people in my part of the country, that technology is where you ought to be working they are working in health care, they are working in hospice caregivers Nurse Practitioners physicians assistants the like. Tell that to general managers at taco bell the general managers at taco bell making 100,000 dollars a year, because he wants to break in here edward you are at Labor Department. One point on the Going Forward when you clear up some uncertainty some fed president s i talked to believe that Business Investment will pick up look at numbers manufacturing, they added 46,000 jobs, in 2019, built, added 264,000 jobs in 2018. P room for growth once uncertainty clears up, construction added 151,000 jobs about 2019, but 307,000 jobs in 2018, so there is room for growth, once you get some of this uncertainty cleared up, and that is what i was hearing from president kashkari minneapolis fed president ial, Business Investment, will pick up once uncertainty clears up. Maria you hope so feel maybe uncertainty beginning to clear up expecting phase one of the china deal to get signed next week on 15th we are expecting usmca, to pass the Senate Next Week we will see about that. Uncertainty lets not forget lower Interest Rates came down dramatically, in 2019. Of the benefit the economy with a lag so it may not be until we are well into 2020, that we begin to see, being a sizable pickup home sales in response to low talking about. Bringing up agriculture manufacturing is the point you were making charles we do politics and economics on this show, i know, jon it is rural states, that you know the republicans were very worried about because we have been losing because of the china tariffs we have been losing farm jobs my oenl point was. Dagen aluminum tariffs were hurt manufacturing Raw Materials went up you created uncertainty volatility you created a lot of uncertainty and volatility in manufacturing by those still causing dramatically, last year. In effect, nfrb manufacturing in survey this is Small Businesses 62 , said that they can find few no qualified applicants gentleman wow there you go you go. Even if you have job open you may not find a person to tabling it. Maria market is moving it is losing steam hold on market is losing steam, losing steam quickly we were in record territory we still are but dow went negativeing to gerri willis floor of New York Stock Exchange with more on reaction to this december jobs report, when is not good gerri to you hey maria that is right i have to tell you down here what they are saying new year new decade same job market dont see this as major departure from trends that have been going on payroll miss they say 129 19 though i fury pay role not big deal we have had strong months coming into this, major roigs coming into this higher oifg realizations pretty you miner not worried about weaker wage growth they dont like strong wage growth because what it can mean for rates i have to tell you they see this more of the same the fact you had strong retail Strong Health care hiring, they like all of that. So people down here say hmm. We are looking at dow futures up 43, when jobs report came out, now up to basically unchanged, they say this is exactly what we expected, not a big difference, and they say were going to 29,000 today on dow back to you. Maria more reaction to this huge runup in stocks, than the actual jobs report one thing yesterday dow up 2211 points 0. 47 from 1928 on average move. 073 , 00 points average updated thing so 10 points 30 points, noise right now. My 401 k moved there i like it a lot making a point earlier go ahead. I was kidding around saying i thought i was going to stir you up talking about manufacturing and mining and ag i guess i i did he i am sorry i have to jump in on manufacturing this is an important piece you guys have not mentioned the job in in about manufacturing have changed so much. I mean, what is happening, we need people you need Technical Skills you are working with with robotics, i dont know if all of you have seen some are manufactures in the u. S. Most state of the art environment so when you think of manufacturing jobs, maybe from 20 years ago, to what they are today it is very different it is Virtual Reality augmented reality skill set for worker changed i will tell you jobs are there, the jobs are coming. Yes, we need the workers, to be skilled, so i do think just to maybe go against you Jon Hilsenrath a little bit i think i do agree we are servicebased economy but i do believe we are going to see a resurgence more manufacturing jobs but the skills are very different. That is exactly my point tech oriented jobs. This is kind of missing the big picture this is best labor market for workers in any lifetimes this is such an amazing picture weve in American Economy, today. Better than gogo 90s. 7. 1 million untilled jobs in this country there is only 6 million Unemployed People even if we put every unemployed worker in a job that means a million 1. 4 million if you are a worker out there looking for a job, you have any empliable skill a job 48 hours a great, Great American economy. Not blue collar not white collar workers here to new collar workers you dont need swanked clinical degree but more than a High School Degree can be trained, gets back to what joanie just said if trained argument where does it happen in School System or businesses do it . I think businesses will be smart to make the investment. Dagen very interesting bloomberg in the wall street journal wrote about this this week that he is talking about that skills gap particularly Rural America jon that article in the journal really interesting because he is focused on that, he is making a political argument that certainly somebody not just a republican is paying attention to that. Mike bloomberg left of those 2013 mass provocateurs third to 8th graders 26 . Maria dont get me started about education big issue i think we are number 30, or 28 in the world horrible. Dagen may be not on debate stage but talking about how you how you train people, in parts of this country, that have been ignored taking a page out of President Trumps playbook at least in a small way. Maria . The or other thing we need in this this country more skilled immigrants we need to let more immigrants in, that have the skills and talents we need in this country because demand for them they will not reduce wages they will expand American Economy lets get a new Immigration Law that gets into this country the o workers that we need he had. That is legals immigration, let in on legal basis more than a Million People, every year, so when you hear the critics of President Trump talking about him not wanting immigration that is not it i would help write the bill a great bill. Policy, i assume we are stake taking a short brak december jobs report out markets, have been, coming off the highs still looking at gain still unchartered territory dow up 19 points stay with us back in a minute with this allstar panel. How you show up for the world, thats whats real. Whats your idea . I put it out there with a godaddy website. Make the world you want. Maria jobs in America December jobs report is out, the economy added 145,000 jobs, in month of december, that missed expectancies the Unemployment Rate still 3 1 2 , which is still a 50year low, markets have come off the highs but now back up 33 points, does this give you anything, insight Jon Hilsenrath into the Federal Reserve, and what this means in terms of the next move . I think the next move for the fed is no move, they cut rates three times last year, they dont want to do anything, until they see inflation get not higher but significantly hire want to see it over 2 for the a while to about confident it is going to stick at that target i dont think the fed is going to do anything i think if it does anything going to be in a cut rates more in response to if economy weakens doesnt look like weak snooeng you dont have hotness we were looking at in terms of wages a dpup months aoc pooshths up 1 10 avenue monthovermonth. No inflation on this economy you think about it weve got lowest Unemployment Rate lowest inflation rate in 50 years, are jon and i old enough to remember when they taught in textbooks inverse relationship between things, now we have this beautiful, beautiful picture, by the way, do you all know what average wage in United States is today according to this importer. What is it 28. 30 an hour a lot of money, i i mean most places 20 dollar wage makes you rich a good economy i love it. Yeah, i think it was 10 years ago or so the employment rate was 9. 9 underlying rate inflation 1. 6 today Unemployment Rate down to 3. 5 the underlying rate of inflation, 1. 6 , still survey last month, 49 americans feel a higher wages, up from 30some oddpercent i dont think people are quitting jobs, like they should, in this type of economy, i think they are afraid because fraet recession only 35 millennials are likely to leave their jobs for better paying job, only 19 gen xksers, 9 baby boomers, wages should grow more i think we are getting strong 4 before election going to see 4 handle talking about hold on go ahead daying ken. Dagen finish my thought for two seconds, thanks that goes back to my point about mayor Mike Bloomberg where he is talking about smaller mid sized cities trying to bring jobs into these areas not education, but in terms of providing incentives in thesers a that goes to the point of people if you live in an area where the jobs openings are not plentiful you cant quit because they are not that much opportunity it is about spreading opportunity, from coasttocoast, the flyover states, maria there you go, go ahead, john. Two things, just to Steven Moores point, you know, when theyre talking about this thing called the phillips curve this idea that as unemployment falls and inflation according to these textbooks is supposed to rise, the fed believed that for a long time and something really important has changed under jay powell. They dont believe it any more. Jay powell is not a phd economist and hes basically thrown out that model and thats why the fed isnt going to be moving on Interest Rates this year even though unemployment is so low they just dont believe that low unemployment naturally means inflation, that higher inflation any more. Ill add one quick point to that but they do believe that higher wages caused inflation and i think thats charles actually in 20082019 jay powell cape to the epiphany that its not automatically price inflation. Maria there is also the skill shortage which is a huge challenge. Very quickly, Joanie Courtney, how do we fix the skills challenge . Well, you know, maria we talked about this before, at employ bridge weve actually created our own academy to offer temporary workers training, i think well need to see that from all employers. Employers need to focus on offer ing training to their workforce, while theyre onthejobs, they are going to have to break it down, and give them access to that. Its so important. I predict well see more in the future. Maria ill tell you whose going to give us the best prediction on the economy, the head of the largest bank, we have a big week ahead, mornings from maria is hitting the road next week taking the show to San Francisco for the jpmorgan Healthcare Conference ill be sitting down exclusively with Jpmorgan Chase ceo came jamie dimon with his take on jobs and the economy and on credit, which of course is another great indicator. One of the most important things youll be talking about, why are the cancer death rates plummeting. Its because of the developments in American Pharmaceutical Companies i cant wait. Maria and he is a cancer survivor we should point out. Great panel, everybody, thank you so much, Charles Payne, steven moore, joining courtney, well see you soon, have a great weekend everybody ill see you sunday on fox news. Varney Company Begins right now. Stu take it away. Stuart good morning, maria and good morning, everyone. Its the big one its the jobs report. Here it is. 145,000 new jobs created last month. 3. 5 , thats the Unemployment Rate, no change there, historic low. Wages rising 2. 9 over the last year, now thats the first time weve slipped below the 3 gain level, since july of 2018. I characterize overall this report as solid. In a fullyemployed economy, which cant find the skilled workers it needs, 145,000 new jobs is pretty good, but the disappointment thoughs
