It is not right. They want to go to france. They want to go to determine germany, go to the uk where they came from. That is hair home. U. S. Is not their home. It is not fair were holding these people and that other countries arent taking because were bearing the cost. So i think that nato should be expanded. We should include the middle east, absolutely. We pay for a big percentage of nato. By the way, if you look at, speak to secretarygeneral stoltenberg, who is doing a terrific job by the way, he will tell you that i raised 130 billion more than they were getting. It was going down from past administrations every single year. It was down to a very low number. I came in. Got to pay folks, got to pay. Were working with you. Were protecting you. Were part of this. We dont want to be the fools like weve been some years. We raised 130 billion almost immediately. We had a meeting with the countries say you got to pay. I imagine they dont like me as much as obama and other people but you got to pay. We got 130 billion more, not 130, 130 more. More biggest fan in the whole world is secretarygeneral stoltenberg because he cant believe it. Now he Just Announced 530 billion weve gotten under my watch. Were in great shape with that whole situation. And i think nato should be helping us now with the middle east. Having an International Flavor there is good. Plus you had a deal signed with many of these countries in nato. So you know, the economic deal with iran. So i have actually, i have actually said that i think the scope of nato should be increased. And they should be looking for isis. Well help. Right now burden is on us that has not been fair. We have done a great job with isis. When i came in three years ago, isis was all over the place. It was a disaster. Now isis is the, caliphate, 100 of the caliphate is gone. 100 percent. We have tens of thousands of prisoners, we have them in prison. But they should be taken and europe should be helping with that burden. But i like the idea of nato expanding their views. Reporter talking about today say it . Reporter environment is something on the talking about today. What is your position on Global Warming . Do you think its a hoax . No. Nothing is a hoax about that. Very serious subject. I want clear air, clean water. I want cleanest air, cleanest water. Something is important to me, environmentalist, called the environmental it before i did this but they wrote a book. I would like to get it. I have it in the other office. I bring it to my next News Conference perhaps. Im sure youre thrilled to see it. You will report all about it. Im a big believer in the word the environment. But i want clean air i want clean water. I also want jobs though. I dont want to close up our industry because somebody you know, you have to go with wind or you have to go with Something Else that is not going to be able to have the capacity to do what we have to do. We have the best employment numbers weve ever had. We have the best unemployment numbers we ever had. That is very important. All right, one more. How much of your own money prepared to spend on reelection . I literally havent even thought about it. I spent a lot on first one. I did the primaries. Obviously that came out to be very successful. I have not thought about it. I will say this, because of the impeachment hoax, were taking in numbers that nobody ever expected. You saw the kind of numbers were reporting. Were proking everybody away blowing everybody away. Nobody ever taken in the money were taking from the public. It is good that is investment. Theyre making that investment. Better than the big donors. Were taking in, were taking in numbers that never seen before frankly and its a great thing. Reporter 2016 say you wouldnt take donor money. I put in a lot. Do you know the number i put in . Do you know the number i put in for primaries first election . Do you know the number . Big number. I to this day say, i wonder if it mattered because i never noticed myself getting any credit for that. I did, i spent a lot of my own money. You know, tens of millions of dollars, times a lot. What i spent a lot of money on money, i always asked the question, i wonder if it was necessary because i dont think anybody even knew i was spending it. I mention it once in a while. For instance, i gave up my salary, 450, approximately 450,000 president ial salary. I give it up, goes to, give to drugs, sometimes to elaine for transportation but every quarter, paid or quarterly basis i give up 100 of my salary i make as president. I dont think anybody has written that story. You guys dont want to write that kind of a story. That is okay with me. Im going to ohio. Some of you are coming with me. We look forward it. I want to congratulate all of us. This will make tremendous difference for your unions, for your workers, for your investments, for everything. This will be a fantastic thing. Well bring numbers down from 20 years to less than two. Bring them down from 10 years. I really think you will hit much less than two, even more Major Projects and i want to thank everybody for being here. A great honor. Thank you very much. Thank you, thank you. [applause] neil all right. We have been monitoring the president of the United States making a lot of news right there, excuse me, 25 Minute Exchange with reporters. If we hit 29,000 on the dow today, it might be because the president greased skids for it when it came to boeing. That stock was already up but it went up a little bit further when the president said weighing in on plane crash, Ukrainian Airlines plane crash in iran, claiming 176 lives, he does not believe that the crash was due to mechanical error. He also said something could have been done that somebody made a mistake and that something very terrible happened. Essentially saying that it was not again, not on boeing. Now there is already separately a report out today that the iranians might have accidentally shot down that aircraft, something they heatedly denied. Something we raised with a pilot yesterday, kyle bailey, the timing of all of this was odd because there was no drama on the flight two minutes into it when it took off. Then a catastrophic event as he defined it. Then the crash itself. That had inkling of maybe something that was not mechanical but something that was sudden len all of sudden out of the blue. On in the pentagon believed the plane was shot down. Ukrainian liner themselves, prompted ukrainians to say we cannot say this was mechanical. This is fueling increasing debate why the iranians are against giving the black box from the plane to boeing or anyone else for that matter. Now the president posited possibility, maybe you give it to independent third pare, french, other countries, mean canadians, 63 of their citizens killed on plane crash. First time president weighing in on all of this, it doesnt smell right. I mention this in the context of the dow getting close to 29,000, boeing a bit of a drag on the dow, otherwise incredible pursuit of these records, now boeing is helping dow in that pursuit. All but 23 points away from dow 29,000, Charlie Brady our stocks editor reminding me before i got up, only 25, 26 days ago we hit 28,000. Rebecca waltzer and we have janney chief investment strategist, mark luschini. Mark, begin with you, end with you. For boeing it would be enormous concern yet another crash was on them, way to early to say one way or the other, obviously reaction in the Investment Community is there are a lot of things might have issues when it comes to the 737 max but maybe not here. Implications of that, what do you think . Well, certainly very important. Due to the fact that obviously expectations around boeing is theyre working heavily towards resolving what the 737 problems were. This would be a setback along that path. So now perhaps with this being given a rational for some other cause, away from the operation of the plane itself, it goes a long way what you talked about with regard to boeings share price, investors are more enthused perhaps about the trials and tribulations of the 737 are increasingly becoming a rear view mirror issue. Neil rebecca as we look at pursuit of 29,000, a rally just cannot cease or even slow down, hiccups along the way, what is this tell you right now . There is anticipated relief that this didnt get bigger, in iran than was feared but, there is earnings backdrop. There is optimism this continues or the growth in earnings continues, what is playing out here, do you think . You know, not to use an airplane analogy, neil, we still have more runway to go on this economy. I dont see anything happening before the election, at least thats my hopes. Im hoping every day. But the fundamentals, president there speaking with people from the unions, encouraging boeing shareholders saying something is not right, theyre not giving over the black box, what is the reason for that . There is a reason for that. It is not a mechanical issue, they would say, figure this out, you owe us, right away. That is not happening. I see with the low unemployment, with the low wage growth, real true wage growth with usmca, phase one china deal next wednesday, potentially a future, i see a uku bilateral trade agreement hopefully this year coming as soon as brexit happens. We have a lot of legs to go in this economy. Neil think of what fuels this, charlie gasparino, started before the tax cuts, president first came in, starting to hack away at regulations, he continued that theme to try to speed up the time it takes to approve getting bridges built, highways done, et cetera. Sort of put that on steroids here. I like to think of this recovery, speedup of the recovery if you will started on that front before even tax cuts took effect. What do you think . Youre absolutely right. If you look at the markets, they kind of stalled out as soon as he went into trade war mode t was very interesting. Donald trump gets elected. We have a republican congress. The bet was on wall street, lower taxes on corporations and individuals, a lot less regulations. He did deliver on that. But then it stalled, it stalled about a year into his presidency, the markets did. If you look at it, flatlined until recently. It flatlined because of trade. Now trump is dealing with the trade issue. Weve. Weve had cessation of the, of the war with china right now, the trade war with china. Markets are taking that to be very positive. We should point out, if he gets a decent trade deal, or something, it is detente, you know, that is really good for the markets. I think that is what you see being priced in right now. At least detente with china. No more tariffs on each side. Marginally something good even better. Should point out Manufacturing Sector has taken it on the chin because of trade and tariffs. That may be one of the final things, if he gets that done, you know, president will have a mighty fine economy to run on in 2020. I, i cant imagine, this is where politics gets involved. Are you going to really elect, average american, going to elect someone that wants to do a 180 on all this . Really unbelievable question to ask. I bet not. Who knows. Neil guys sorry to trunk kate this on a little bit here on breaking news developments, war powers, reining in of the president s abilities to go ahead take out bad guys, he says he doesnt want that crippled. Read from Republican Senate finance Committee Chairman chuck grassley. Joins me now. Thank you for taking the time. Happy to be with you. Neil happy new year, sir. On this notion the president isnt keen, apparently urged republicans dont vote for this, already at least two republicans rand paul, mike lee likely are. They do think that the president should be reined in here. What do you think . I think if you look at the 40 years of the Islamic Republic of iran, how they have been involved in so many terrorist activities going back to imprisoning all of our Foreign Service officers for well over a year in 1979 and 80, and leading up to the killing of 600 americans in the iraq war, then eventually one more american that brought the president doing what he did to kill the general, that is mastermind of all these terrorist activities in the middle east and then considering his number one responsibility under the constitution as commanderinchief because of number one responsibility of the federal government, to defend americans. If americans lives are in danger, and he didnt do what he was doing, then we had a lot of americans killed, very same people condemning him now would condemn him because he didnt take the proper action to protect americans. Neil what you hear your colleague mike lee said it was insulting and demeaning, referring to the briefing by military officials and that it is the worst i have ever seen, what did you make of that . I was satisfied with the briefing. It gave me all the information that i needed, that the president acted in a constitutional and legal way in doing what he did, and particularly when i have heard how other members of the gang of eight, the people that get all this sensitive intelligence information, that they were informed just like members, when obama was killed, i mean, bin laden was killed by obama, they were informed afterwards. I dont know how the same people can condemn this president for the way he handled it. Neil i want to switch to trade, i know this is a big issue from you, certainly from your state. We understand next week is when this will all be signed, sealed, supposedly delivered. The vice premier will be in town, other key players, are you optimistic this will all happen. Im optimistic from this standpoint, that there is some enforcement processes put in place in this agreement, that werent there in 2011 when which didnt have agreement with china and they didnt carry it out and we need those enforcement agreements because china has been a member of the wto since 1999 i believe and for 20 years have been cheating on international trade, that we do have a process that can get us talking to the chinese why you arent living up to it but what i am certain about is, it is going to be quantifiable if theyre buying 40 or 50 billion of Agricultural Products as they committed to, well know in a year or two whether or not theyre keeping their word there. Now on international, on intellectual property or trade secrets or transfer of technology, we might not know for 3 or four years if theyre living up to that agreement, but we will at least have enforcement mechanism we can go back to engage them on discussion, why arent you living up to your agreement . Neil you have also raised, senator in the past, idea of using tariffs as a weapon, a dangerous weapon. You have called for redressing this and looking to rein in this president s use of tariffs to get what he want. You want to meet with your democratic colleague ron wyden of oregon who has said of this approach, i am for putting some guardrails on this administrations unpredictable and chaotic trade policy. Are you . The answer is yes but only to a limited extent and im not doing it because of what President Trump has done as you have stated. Im doing it because he has brought to my attention something that shouldnt have to wait until trump. It was very obvious. In 1962 kennedy trade bill, we delegated too much of Congress Constitutional authority to regulate foreign trade, and we need to keep, bring that back. So my legislation that i hope to get out of committee on reforming 232 but not doing away entirely with the president ial discretion, but putting guardrails on, yes, only to that extent. Now the extent to which maybe senator wyden was going way beyond that, at this point im not sure i want to go way beyond what i told you want to do. Neil got it, on people impeachment, i know have to two, there is concern that nancy pelosi passing articles of impeachment to the senate. She seemed to indicate that would happen very soon, i dont know what that means. There is criticism on the part of democrats, even some republicans we should be open to witnesses, in the senate we should be open to witnesses. Are you open to witnesses and do you know, and do you share the view of likes of mitt romney and susan collins, lisa murkowski, republicans all, who seem to be open to that . If that is true, you need one more to make sure you have a witness . I can only answer the question when we get through the process of opening it up, getting the chief justice on board and, and, listening to the prosecution and listening to the defense of the president and then i will make that decision. But i cant make it in the, in the vacuum until ive heard why he should be prosecuted and to what extent we need more information to determine if he should be prosecuted. Neil all right. Senator, thank you very much. It is always good catching up with you. Thank you. Neil senator grassley. All right, another big news item we led wit. I want to put it in context beyond the impact of the market. President of the United States weighing in on this Ukrainian Airlines crash that killed 176 people, 167 passengers, nine crewmembers. 63 of those were canadian citizens, that is already drawn the attention of Prime Minister trudeau who said he is not accepting irans response to this. Neither for that matter is the time being the president of the United States. He doesnt believe this boeing crash in iran was due to mechanical error. That somebody could have made a mistake. He didnt really delineate who, that something very terrible happened. It was a issue first raised with my next guest who joins me on the phone, pilot, aviation analyst kyle bailey. Kyle, good to have you back. You had said at the time, we were talking a little more than 24 hours ago, it was fairly routine, what we know of that flight in first two minutes. Then something sudden, something catastrophic. You din raise exactly what cause that. Errant missile or misguided missile that accidentally hit the plane has been raised by a number of others since. What do you think happened . Good afternoon, neil. What, my intention yesterday was the debris field was kind of large, quite frankly looking at that, from an airplane that was at about 7 or 8,000 feet, seemed a little bit on the large side. Now we have, there are some reports out there that i should mention are unconfirmed, this perhaps, there might have been some surfacetoair missile fragments found in the vicinity. Again that is unconfirmed, but you know, it is still, right now, everything i want to say, everything is still on the table obviously. But it is very concerning with these unconfirmed reports. What we see on the flight today at that, from from the as i mentioned yesterday. Neil kyle, as you know the iranians refused to turn over the black box to boeing. The president raised possibility, this has happened in other cases to a third party, third party country. France comes to mind. He didnt mention it. Canada comes to mind since 63 of the victims were canadian citizens. How is this normally handled . Can a country in this case, the crash occurred in its airspace, do what it wants, say, no, were not sharing it with you . The simple answer iran can do whatever it wants. The crash happened in their territory. In their country. They can do whatever they want and nobody can tell them what to do but the importance of going through the black box data is critical, for the safety of future commercial flights to find out what went wrong. It is not about putting blame on anybody. It is about finding out what happened and try to correct it, to learn from this accident, so boeing can learn from it. So the u. S. Can learn from it. So anybody can learn from it. And that is why, you know, investigators really need to have access to these black boxes. Whether its a neutral country. Doesnt have to be from the u. S. Doesnt have to be from ukraine. There should be a neutral party allowed to examine the black boxes. It is not good that theyre keeping that, the black boxes from the international community. It is very concerning, and alarming. Neil that black box, just to state the obvious, would be able to ascertain any problems prior two minutes into the flight, whether there was something sudden, with would indicate something sudden and catastrophic, right . That is correct. There are two what are known as black boxes. The cockpit voice recorder which you hear all the noise in the cockpit. Neil right. You hear the captain and copilot talking, air traffic control. There is the flight data recorder gives all the different flight parameters and control positions, all pretty much, you know, basically, it could be plugged into a computer. Basically like a flight simulator. Could you see that the climb performance and everything. In conjunction with the cockpit voice recorder. It gives you a total picture what was happening in the last several minutes of the flight. So it is key that we get our hands on these, that we can examine these for the sake of, you know, future commercial passenger flight. Obviously, if we also would want to determine obviously, if there was wrongdoing involved, if this needs to be a criminal investigation. Neil kyle bailey, thank you very, very much, my friend. Update you if youre tuning in here. The president weighing in on crash of Ukrainian Airlines jet that killed 176 people. That did it not seem to be mechanical to him. Saying something, someone, could have made a mistake. We separately have been hearing from the pentagon and other high level u. S. Intelligence officials that it is likely two iranians missiles, coming from the wall street journal now, brought down the ukrainian plane, either deliberately or not so. The journal saying the timing was very, very much parallelling the the missile attack that u. S. Compound in iraq. No one was injured or certainly killed in that but again theyre checking and rechecking, sort of seeing what syncs with what. Blake burman from the white house. Hi, blake. Reporter neil a lot of information in the washington half hour is coming across the river he over at the pentagon. Here is what we tell you pentagon officials are telling fox. At this point the pent gone believe the Ukrainian Airlines flight tuesday into wednesday was shot down by iranian missiles and was shot down according to those missiles by mistake. To note a couple Different Things here, neil, those, first off, iran and russia have a Security Agreement together. We are also being told from the officials that it was russian made surfacetoair missiles used shooting down the airliner, that ended up killing all 176 people on board. Defense secretary mark esper yesterday was asked about all this. At that point he said i have no information. Clearly things have changed in last 24 hours. Not only officials believe iran shot it down and shot down by mistake. That word mistake was used by President Trump over here at the white house a little while ago. Listen. It was flying in a pretty rough neighborhood and somebody could have made a mistake. Some people say it was mechanical. I personally dont think that is even a question, personally. Reporter the president there, neil, saying he doesnt think it was mechanical. You will remember in the immediate minutes after the headlines were coming out tuesday night, early wednesday, in iran, it was iranian government who said this was a technical issue just minutes into it. Clearly here the president , whether he has been briefed by the pentagon on this or not, we cant tell you at this point, presumably so, he is using the same words as pentagon officials are telling our folks over at the pentagon this hour. Neil. Neil blake burman, thank you very, very much. Elaborate a little bit what blake was reporting here. Iranians deny they had anything to do with the downing of the plane. They point to mechanical issues, engine issues. That is originally something which ukrainians agreed until late yesterday they pulled that sentiment, saying a loot a lot more has to be looked into. Not only ukrainians looking into this but canadian Prime Minister trudeau. We should point out for boeing this was a bit of a reprieve, already dealing with headaches and multibillion dollars losses around the grounding of the 737 max. This was a 737, not a max of course but it does at least exonerate early on any thought boeings issues just got compounded. For now, that appears that is not the case. Well have more after this. the sun is risin as the day begins time for reflectin on family and friends and hey, we got somethin just for you sniffing its a cup of your favoriiiite. loud splashing highpitched laughter dang woodchucks with geico, the savings keep on going. Just like this sequel. 15 minutes could save you 15 or more on Car Insurance. Neil a little over month ago, another 1000 point milestone could be reached today as the dow is flirting with 29,000. This time boeing is helping things out, not holding us back. This socalled reprieve might have gotten from the president of the United States, indeed others that it had nothing to do with the plane crash or mechanicalwise, when it came to the Ukrainian Airlines flight that two minutes after takeoff crashed in iran, killing all 176 aboard. Now growing fears here this might have been accidentally shot down by iranians. Something iranians deny, increasingly pentagon, a host of other folks saying points to them. Now i only mention that in the context of 29,000, with boeing contributing to runup, not defying it that helps the case. Ashley webster following this very closely. What have you got . Interesting, a slew of things are affecting the market. Basically we have what appears to be tamping down of tensions between u. S. And iran that is good. There are number of things. Apple having a great day today after finding out sales of iphones in china were up last month 18 . Oil, we thought anything like this going on in previous years, oil would have gone straight through the roof, 80, 90, 100 boucks. Oil maintain ad stable level which is good. Phase one china deal we think. Phase two president says starts right away. May not be signed until after the election. But that is a positive sign. We have the jobs report tomorrow, expecting 160,000 new jobs. You put that together, something interrupted the u. S. Economy at all. Were humming nicely. Neil that is the backdrop. Certainly helps all of sudden boeing which has been pileon in light of recent crash, it pared some earlier gains, but still up a little bit north of four bucks, what do you hear people making of that . Boeing, timing, continued grounding of the 737 max jets couldnt have been worse of course. Their First Response to the news overseas, they made no comment, open obviously our regrets and condolences to anyone involved in this. But news perhaps this was not a mechanical problem, but indeed Something Else potentially shut down by mistake, it is positive for boeing. What is frustrating for boeing they cant get access to the black boxes. At least that is the case now. They cant really comment on anything about it, but it is positive for the airline as we say has been under a lot of pressure. Neil to put it very mildly. Thank you very much, ashley webster. We talked about the backdrop of this as ashley touched on which looks pretty good except for some retailers, macys pier one, the latest, bed, bath beyond is tumbling. Jackie deangelis with more outside of store in manhattan with all the latest. Reporter good afternoon to you, neil. This is tough day for the stock after Third Quarter earnings missed wall street estimates. It is a loss of 38 cents. They were expecting 2 cents loss. The company pulling 2020 outlook, releasing a Strategic Plan later this year. Investor certainly will. Ceo mark triton came on in november to turn this company around. He was at target. He really helped change the in store experience, online experience. Investors are hopeful he can do something here. He already sold some real estate. He ousted some key executives. He is working with Financial Planners to look atbalance sheet to figure something out. Brickandmortar is struggling, no doubt about it. Target, walmart, amazon. That is the competition for a store like this. Pricing is so competitive. You remember these coupons, here, get them in the mail . I happen to use these when i come to bed and bath. 20 a single item. 20 off the whole purchase. Behind me in the store window, it says they will price match as well. Some of these old tactics trying to be price competitive may not be enough anymore. Now bed bath said it would close 20 stores this year, but theyre actually delaying that so they work through some of the inventor. The company blame ad later thanksgiving, that compressed Holiday Shopping season for part of the problem. Samestore sales were down 8. 3 . Not just this stock. As you mentioned, jcpenney, kohls, macys, all these retailers are feeling the pinch. I was at pier 1 the other day. Reminds you this idea of adapt or die when it comes to ecommerce and brickandmortar will have to do that now more than ever, neil. Neil jackie, thank you very, very much. Neil boeing shares popping up on reports that iran shot down ukrainian airliner by mistake. Iranians are saying that is simply not the mistake yet theyre not sharing the black box either. Dan springer who cleanly got through this line by line and sort of looked at the big picture yesterday, is back with an update where things stand. Hey, dan. Reporter neil, the big news today that pentagon officials telling our foxs Jennifer Griffin at the pentagon they increasingly believe iran mistakenly shot down the commercial jet minutes after takeoff. The air to surface missiles, surfacetoair missiles, excuse me, were on high alert just four hours after iran fired missile into iraq airbases. That increasingly believe iran shot down this airliner. For its part iran has released a initial report which leaves more questions, frankly than answers. It says the planes two black boxes were recovered but they were damaged to the point that some information was lost. It confirmed that pilots did not put a distress call but attempted to turn the plane around to land at tehran airport. That was impossible because the plane was engulfed in flames before the crash. Iran said it was cause of engine fire. Investigators are looking at multiple scenarios including antiaircraft missile. The plane was headed to kiev, where president zelensky added to a growing memorial. Translator we will surely find out the truth. For this purpose, a thorough, independent investigate will be conducted in accordance with the international law. Reporter ns 2. B officials say, they bea leave based on debris field that the plane broke up before it hit the ground. Missile strike tops list of possibilities. Canada ask calling for a investigation. 63 victims were canadian citizens. Most were headed back there after a connection in kiev. The biggest question, does iran have the expertise to examine black boxes . If not, which country will do it . Tensions between iraq and the u. S. , unlikely they will give those boxes to any u. S. Officials or boeing. They said they will not give them to boeing but when will they give those black boxes to somebody in a country that can analyze them and tell them exactly what happened . Neil. Neil dan, thank you very, very much. Dan springer. In the meantime we have fox news senior judicial analyst, and the liberty file host on fox nation, judge andrew napolitano. What is their legal obligation . Their obligation is to preserve the black boxes until they get into the hands of someone who can examine them. They dont have a obligation to surrender them to the american authority. They cant destroy them. They cant change them. They have to present to some entity that is competent. I say they have to. This is part of a treaty signed in warsaw, poland, almost every country that has airlines in the world is part of, it governs liability, governs who controls what happens in a crash and governs who investigates. I mean this happened in iran. The iranian people can investigate it. They certainly have the expertise to get in the black box and they dont have to make it public. They can pass it on to boeing but they cant destroy it. And they cant change it. Neil all right. Now they can give it to your point to a third party country. Canada has been mentioned because 63 of those killed were canadian. Yes. Neil and there is some precedent for that third Party Countries getting the black box but usually not sharing the black box, right . Right. Right. We dont know what was in there. Neil right. I would think that more information is going to come from the forensic examination of the crash. If it was taken down, excuse me, by a surfacetoair missile, they will know that when they look at, what remains of the skin. Neil youre right about accountability. Former top pilot Industry Analysts said the fact this was spread out in so many pieces indicates an explosion in the air. Correct. Neil could be other factors there. But for the iranians who sort of, this outside player in the global stage, warsaw pact or not, what does it, if they ignore it all together . You know, the president hinted yesterday they may have intentionally fired missiles so as not to harm american personnel and in fact, the president said, so as to cause minimum damage to american materials on these bases in iraq. Because they want to lessen the tension between the United States and iran. If they in their effort to avoid hitting american personnel instead hit the jet, that is profoundly humiliating but it is an accident, it is not a crime. Neil so the president weighing in on this, saying it doesnt look mechanical to him, does that complicate things . Most of the others quoted on this were anonymous pentagon officials, those sort of folks . I dont think the president s opinions whether wellgrounded or not will after affect the outcome here. The outcome will be affected by forensic evidence gathered at the scene. As long that is done by prude den people whose goal to find the truth, not some idealogical or political goal, well find out what happened. Neil thank you very much, my friend much i was going to talk to but the war powers resolution on the hill, maybe very soon. That is something theyre taking up right now in washington. This had been pushed, pulled back, but now nancy pelosi wants to go ahead to get a measure that would limit the president s powers and exactly who he can target and when without consulting congress. This was looking along partisan lines, until rand paul and mike lee said this is well warranted we have to keep a check on this sort of thing and the president abused his privilege. More after this. The dow well off the highs but still under record territory. So is the s p 500, so is the nasdaq. Well have a little more on that in a second and what is driving all of this. Meantime paying attention to uber right now, its going to stop some up front ride pricing in response to californias new gig worker law. Fox news political analyst, extraordinaire, Jenna Caldwell lives in california. Can explain what is going on here, gianno, why are they doing isnt. I was shocked when i got a message from them there would be range in pricing. I was disappointed. And immediately thought i could get around this, tryings be told. Ab5 5 a law went into effect january 1, allows for classification of uber drivers, lyft drivers, door dash, postmates, they want to classify them as actual employees to get access to Health Insurance and those kind of things. This is where it becomes problematic for me. A lot of apps were made to be disturbing technology, in a sense you go into the marketplace, get a job without having, you know, interview, stated thing. These are really gigs. These are supposed to get you along the way, not fulltime jobs. Those were not designated for that. We have 500,000 individuals in the state of california who use these kind of platforms. When i say use them, these are the contractors, that uber drivers, postmate drivers et cetera. But it goes even greater than that, neil. Talking about 1. 5 Million People in the state of california who will be impacted because theyre freelancers. This led to layoffs of places like vox this past december, they say ab5 was the reason for it. In addition to other Companies Looking at individuals and customers who may change their techniques in terms of what they may utilize to get food or transportation. Neil so, as i understand it, if youre a customer, you have a pretty good idea what something should cost, wanted to get lax for example, from wherever you are, they are not going to be able to tell you, right . Well, it will be a range. This disruptive technology, will say, generally speaking for me it, may be 30 bucks to go from where i live, downtown l. A. To lax. It may be 30 bucks generally. But now it may be 30 to potentially 100, me throwing out a range. If that be the case, my mind tells me, perhaps i dont want to take this. Maybe i want to call a friend, i want to bug my friend, neil cavuto, can you take me to the airport to save 30 or 40 because i have no idea this may cost. A lot of people who decide just not to use the app. Neil youre playing and arguing poverty here. I know very well you have a personal limo. That is all a moot point. Only if i can borrow yours. Neil meantime, speaking of your fine state, your governor gavin newsom is asking for billion bucks to tackle homelessness. What is going on here . How will he use this . Interesting enough, having a resident in downtown l. A. I see the homelessness and it is impact. Were talking about over 130,000 people as i think of 2018 numbers who are considered homeless and, bless you. 130,000 about a quarter of the u. S. Homeless population. Governor newsom and i got to give a great deal of credit of fox news, because weve seen segment after segment talking about the homeless crisis, especially the fact these liberal policies in cities like los angeles havent been helpful. You have been seeing people on the streets for decades. He wants to utilize, which im pretty sure leads to a tax hike at particular point, want to utilize state funding, 750 million alone, getting organizations to contribute to the pot. Sooner than later there is no choice for the state to work with the federal government. That is one of the things they are resistant upon doing. President trump says if they ask nicely he is willing to help but at this point they have to stop playing politics because there are some individuals living on the streets, like i said, 130,000 in the state of california, which is the size of a small city. They need to get involved with the federal government. This isnt a challenge they can take on by themselves. Neil you know, i was on vacation when you were making some news. A lot of people, liberals in particularly, fellow africanamericans come after you say you have dis. Ed them. That youre a race traitor. Ran into this facetoface. Yeah. Neil can you tell me what happened . I went out to the Democratic National debate, what, three weeks ago. I went out to talk about conservatism and rally good supporters, give out signed copies of my book, taken for granted. Literally behind joe bidens team, talking about conservatism, people came it to threaten me, using violent racial language. I was so disturbed by were talking about the democratic party, talking being a inclusive party, where people challenge their ideas. It seemed not to be the case. I could not believe what i was hearing from all these supporters of joe biden, especially someone who has such a big, bulk of democrat africanamerican report. So disturbing to see that, neil. This is the party, adding to some of this racial, hurtful language and not appealing to the betterment of our country. Neil well, you kept your wits about you, calmly handled it. I give you credit for that. Gianno. Thank you very much. Thank you for having me. Neil quick peek at corner of wall and broad where the dow is doing darnedest not only to close in record territory that it is doing comfortably the time being. Maybe taking a shot at 29,000. If that were the case, it would be, one of the more quick jumps weve seen from 1,000 point milestone to the next. Remember it was hitting 28,000, 36 days ago. Just 36 days ago. T today, knowing were prepared for tomorrow. Wow dad, do you think you overdid it maybe . I dont think so. What do you think, peanut . Nope honey, do you think we overdid it . Overdid what . See . We dont think so, son. Technically, grandparents cant overdo it. Its impossible. Well planned, well invested, well protected. Voya. Be confident to and through retirement. Neil all right. Take a look at whats happening with the major market averages, from the dow, the s p 500 and nasdaq, a hat trick of new records right now. The question is whether they hold on for the next three hours before markets close at 4 00 p. M. Eastern time. The dow is getting a disproportionate mention here because it was very very close to hitting 29,000 for awhile, within about 29 points of 29,000. That would be one of its [ inaudible ] since november 15th last year. This would be about 36 days after that. We do the math for you. Its basic cable. Youre welcome, america. Meanwhile, lets bring in the wall street journal chief economic commentator, a great writer in his own right, greg ipp. We have dan rambone and edward stringer and last but not least, New York PostEditorial Board member kelley james torrance. Welcome to all. If i can get your sense of what is kind of driving this environment right now. What do you think . I think a lot of of the things we worried about a year ago, we worried about trade tensions, we worried about geopolitical risk, those things have basically kind of faded. We are soon going to have a phase one deal signed between china and the United States and so you dont really need trade uncertainty to go away, you need it to stop getting worse. I think the other factor is you have a fed thats very comfortably on the sidelines. This morning, richard clarida, the ve chairman of the federal reserve, said the economy was in a good place, Monetary Policy is in a good place. If anything, he thought there might be Downside Risk to inflation. It doesnt sound like the markets got anything to worry about. The fed here. A year of good growth, perhaps the only thing the fed needs, the market needs to worry about is whether its getting ahead of itself valuationwise. Neil when you talk to a lot of experts they all get a little worried these levels are nose bleedy or whatever, depending on the earnings and where they go, you could make a good case they come in as strong as some suspect, its still a very affordable market. What do people tell you . So it comes down to Interest Rates. Essentially this is an expensive market except relative to all the other things you could be buying. Bonds in terms of yields are extremely low. If you make an adjustment for that, the expected return on equities is kind of in its longterm historical average. I think what you do worry a little about is some of the leadership issues. Theres a heck of a lot of this market thats based on a handful of very Big Technology companies. Thats never a positive thing. And you know, you kind of get this sort of feeling that its there is no alternative, right, and you just need perhaps a little bit of like implosion of some of the exit valuation situations to force some form of revaluation. Neil you know, im looking at all of this, obviously iran could have gone very very differently. Do you guys sense right now that the fact that it didnt is whats really propelling . I dont think so. I mean, had world war iii taken off or had iran launched an attack here inside the u. S. , Something Like that, sure, certainly that could have gone differently. But as greg just pointed out, there is no alternative, you buy the stocks, buy the dip, you had a couple point dip coming off of this iran scandal and i think a lot of folks said hey, you know what, time to buy, log in there, get the algos going and the market just keeps going up. Neil talking about algorithms, when you talk to, you know, a lot of individual investors, they worry that you know, its too late for me to get in. You could have said that 1,000 points ago which is a month ago. You could have said that, you know, at each and every millenial jump here. The market still keeps going. Whats that individual mindset . Exactly. I think every time more and more people start thinking hey, why didnt i get on board earlier. You are going to hear that question from new people each time. I think the market goes up, but yeah, i mean, its going up, you have to get in at some point and yeah, theres always a risk whenever you get in. You dont know if its going to keep going up but you know, the market does not like uncertainty and i think thats why it dipped when the iran tensions escalated. We dont know for sure whats going to happen now but it certainly looks like things have really cooled down and are going to stay cooled down at least for awhile. I think the markets love that. Neil arent we right back to where we were a little more than a week ago when it comes to iran, the middle east and all of that . I think war is tremendously disruptive to the global economy. Neil right back down. Were not going to be getting into a major war. I think its actually showing up in positive prices. Just a week ago, oh, my goodness, were going to waste another, you know, trillions and trillions more dollars on this new conflict, and if that gets deescalated, its going to let americans spend money on Business Activity rather than wasting it on these very costly wars. Neil greg, before you go, i want to get your thoughts, you know, many were focusing on what the president had to say about this Iranian Plane Crash and that it didnt look mechanical to him but it was in the context of talking about another assault on cutting back on rules and regulations that could speed up, for example, big infrastructure projects, highways and bridges. I know you and i have gotten into this before, when the tax cuts took effect, these moves early on to cut regulations were immediate. Now, there are critics who say you go too far on the environmental front, they are dangerous, but for many businesses, those were instant savings, werent they . Yeah, i think that actually, the Regulatory Environment is probably more important in some ways than the tax environment and the trade environment in terms of determining sort of the freedom to maneuver for a lot of businesses. That all said, what the president Just Announced with respect to the infrastructure, these projects have always had very long lead times and that will continue to be the case even under an accelerated approval schedule that they are sort of talking about. So i dont see that as a game changer in any regard. I think the real lesson of the last week, thinking about the geopolitical risk, is that this is not your fathers oil market. This is not a situation where you are talking about like lets say we embargoed iran further. Their exports are already down so far that they are not a significant presence in the oil market. If a missile strike on saudis largest refining complex cant send the price of oil up substantially for more than a week or two, a few sort of exchanges of missiles like we have just seen will not either. It speaks to the game changer the president of the United States and shale oil is in this market. The lesson i take is that theres an extraordinary degree of resilience to these markets, to geopolitical shocks, partly because of structural changes like in the oil market. Neil yeah. It helps to be in a position economically as we are that we can weather this, because something that would have happened back in the 70s, we know a very different reaction. Always fun, thank you, my friend. Thank you. Neil all right. Now for this war powers resolution act that they are trying to get through right now on capitol hill. Chuck grassley was here just a few minutes ago saying this move to limit what the president can do and when is dangerous. Take a look. Already at least two republicans, rand paul and mike lee, likely are. They do think that the president should be reined in here. What do you think . If americans lives are in danger, and he didnt do what he was doing and then we had a lot of americans killed, the very same people condemning him now would condemn him because he didnt take the proper action to protect america. Neil what hes saying, the president is damned if he does, damned if he doesnt. What do you say . Lets take a look at what actually senator lee said. He said that the meeting that he had where it was explained why they actually took this assassination attempt on the iranian general was flimsy, it was limited, they gave very Little Information and they skedaddled out of the meeting as if nothing happened. He said the meeting was embarrassing and they didnt provide nearly enough information, nearly as much as they should. Neil others who were there, certainly the republicans, democrats to a man or woman are of that mindset, but the others say it was very convincing. Grassley among them. But look, heres the bottom line. I dont think lee or rand paul or any of the republicans are going to go against the president. Republicans are scared to death to go against President Trump. Right now neil they made it very clear they are going to vote for this. They made it very clear but this isnt going to do anything because they wont get any other republicans on their side. Neil there is that. The president seems to in his remarks accept that these guys are wrong on this but they are free to go ahead and vote for this. Where does this go . Yeah. Rand paul, of course, has been off and on on whether he supports the president on various issues or not and he was against the suleimani strike. Neil hes against foreign intervention of any sort. Even when apparently american lives are at risk. Yeah, look, the house is going to vote obviously, its a democratically controlled chamber. I dont think the senate is going to get enough republicans over and i think thats a good thing. Why hamstring a president when there are threats coming right now about iran and of course, i do think that its important to talk about what congresss war powers are and what powers the executive branch has and im glad the democrats have finally decided to have this after president obama was in over half a dozen countries and didnt have a single authorization for the use of military force. He used as his justification the 2001 september 11th aumf and the one on iraq in 2002. He went into pakistan, libya, yemen, all using those authorizations so im glad the democrats have decided to question this now. Its just unfortunate neil well, whatever your views on this subject politically, i can see republicans seizing on this to say they would have a guy like this in their sights and let him walk. Thats what theyre saying. I think it is all political. Ten years ago we got targeted assassinations including of american citizens. The democrats are like this is great, of course we should be doing that. Now at this point no, we cant do that. So it is the change of tune neil republicans ripped president obama with his line if the sand and the red line and you have to consult us, so he goes ahead and says all right, i will consult you, you give me the approval makes a great point about where the authorizations came from. You talk about 2001, 2002, that was george w. Bush in the white house. This has been a longstanding act by the executive just to kind of go in, bomb who he likes, kind of take acts of war without the authorization of congress. Neil you think that should apply to democrats i think it should apply to democrats, republicans. This is supposed to be what congress does. Its one of their stated functions. Neil you shared that view when barack obama absolutely. Im on the record on this. Most parties dont do it when their Party Controls the executive branch. Its only when the other party does. Then you have both democrats and republicans neil the president made it clear no matter what they do, he will do what he wants to do because he doesnt have time to im not sure i would say time to yap. Hes on twitter. Neil i cut to the chase on that. Times a wasting and you have to make a trigger decision, no pun intended, this is what i decided. A lot more after this including a dow right now thats hitting records, nasdaq is following along and s p is following along. You know how these guys go. They love those even milestones. 29,000 is within their sights. More after this. S. From using feedback to innovate. To introducing products faster. To managing website inventory. Flexshares etfs are designed and managed around investor objectives. So you can advise with confidence. Before investing, consider the Funds Investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses. Go to flexshares. Com for a prospectus containing this information. Read it carefully. Neil all right. How do you get companies to slow down American Consumers cutting the cord . Well, verizon is cutting the cord on its cable bundles. The company is now allowing customers to purchase their tv and internet packages separately in the hopes maybe the savings will get them to stop cutting. We shall see. Meanwhile, the president rolling back regulations aimed to speed up delayed infrastructure projects. Take a look. It took four years to build the golden gate bridge, five years to build the hoover dam and less than one year, can you believe that, to build the empire state building. Yet today, it can take more than ten years just to get a permit to build a simple road, just a very simple road. Its Big Government at its absolute worst. Neil the president wants to get a lot of those regulations out of the way to make sure that doesnt happen and they can speed this all up. The National Association of manufacturers president and ceo jake tim jomons was at the whit house for this event. Good to see you. Happy new year. You think about it, we were going back and forth, no matter how you feel about easing up on rules and regulations, this whole recovery that got us sort of another new surge and lease on life started before the tax cuts. I actually argue it started with the regulatory relief because that was immediate. Now the president wants to continue that, maybe recognizing the likelihood of still more tax cuts isnt likely. What do you make of it . Well, so one of the very first things the president talked to manufacturers about, talked to our chair at the time, david farr, was to compile the most onerous regulations and the things that really would stall business. You are exactly right, changing the direction on regulations and making them more certain, making them more logical, certainly helped to unleash investment and confidence by american businesses. But i take just a little exception to a word you used as we were introducing this segment. You said roll back. This is not a rollback. This is a modernization. What is happening with this change in the National Environmental policy act framework is its speeding up the ability of the administration and all the various agencies who oversee permitting, its speeding up that process so that theres more certainty for american investors and american businesses. Neil thats where m a littim at a loss for this. Some argue for safety considerations you want to make sure all the is are dotted, ts are crossed. Is that compromised here . Absolutely not. One of the big things that this new change promotes is one agency will be in charge even though other agencies will provide input, there wont be like four, five, six, seven different agencies making decisions independent of the other. It brings all the stake holders to the table at the same time, including those who may have problems with the project going forward. I had a little bit of experience with this in virginia when i worked for george allen and he streamlined the process to be able to provide certainty to Business Investment and we were able to attract record investment, record job creation during that time, and we had better air and cleaner water at the end of his administration. It can be done. You dont want to compromise your commitment to environmental quality, but what you do want to do is you want to make sure that you provide the ability for projects to move forward and protect the environment at the same time. Neil if i can just switch, you are the big cheese at the national joeshassociation of manufacturers we do manufacture cheese, too. Neil thats fine by me. One thing i wanted to get a sense from you, manufacturing slowed down a little, theres concern that the early momentum it had under President Trump has eased up a little bit. Are your members worried . So i think thats a great question. We have had a couple of quarters of declining numbers and overall optimism from manufacturing, the second and Third Quarter last year in particular. The fourth quarter, we saw a stabilization and those numbers kind of eased. The number one issue on the minds of all manufacturers has been and continues to be the lack of a skilled work force. We have 500, 1,000 open jobs in manufacturing. That number rises to 2. 4 million if we dont tackle the problem, which we are. The second concern and the survey was taken before some of these issues were addressed, was trade uncertainty, specifically usmca and china. Now weve seen progress on the usmca trade deal, weve seen progress on china, we will see the first phase signed on january 15th where there will be some astounding protections for intellectual property for manufacturers that the administration negotiated, bob lighthizer, our trade ambassador, that we have never seen before. We are very excited about that as well. Neil very good having you. Thank you very much. Happy to hear the processed cheese thing as well. National association of manufacturers. The big cheese, as i said. Boeing appears to be off the hook for now when it comes to that crash. But when the president weighed in and said that he seems to think theres no sense at all that it was mechanical or any of that, is the runup and comeback in the stock justified . Now even the canadian Prime Minister is weighing in as well. After this. We made usaa insurance for members like kate. A former army medic, made of the flexibility to handle whatever monday has in store and tackle four things at once. So when her car got hit, she didnt worry. She simply filed a claim on her usaa app and said. I got this. Usaa insurance is made the way kate needs it easy. She can even pick her payment plan so its easy on her budget and her life. Usaa. What youre made of, were made for. Usaa are Critical Skills for scientists at 3m. One of the products i helped develop was a softer, more secure diaper closure. As a mom, i knew it had to work. There were babies involved. And they werent saying much. I envisioned what its like for babies to have diapers around them. Thats what we do at 3m, we listen to people, even those who dont have a voice. At the end of the day, we are people helping people. Neil all right. We have already heard from President Trump. Now dcanadas Prime MinisterJustin Trudeau is planned to give an update on that plane cra crash. Growing suspicion this might have been an accidental iranian shootdown when the missiles were being lobbed at the military base in iraq. Too soon to say but this much for boeing investors is a bit of a relief rally for that stock on the notion they have enough headaches, they didnt need this one added. Again, growing questions exactly what happened a little more than 36 hours ago. To retired Brigadier General anthony taita. Always good to have you. The iranians are not sharing that black box certainly with boeing. They could still give it to a third party country, canada comes to mind. What do you think if they never do, though . Well, i think its a pretty clear indication that this was a shootdown. Its not too hard to visualize how it might have happened. They had launched 15 Ballistic Missiles at the United States bases, joint bases in iraq and their air defenses and they have substantial surfacetoair missile defenses, russianmade weapons primarily, are on high alert and all it takes is one untrained operator and one system that perhaps is, you know, ready to launch as opposed to on check fire or hold fire, and all of a sudden it picks up an airplane coming in and it launches. And its a mistake. And it just shows, you know, this is insult to injury for iran in that they should have never should have launched those missiles, now they have shot down and killed their own people and several countries that are friendly to them and its just an indicator of how much on the wrong path this country is and they need to step back and they need to really do a critical selfassessment of their Foreign Policy and they need to stop exporting terror, they need to stop Building Nuclear weapons, and they need to join the league of nations and the World Economy that, you know, where they can actually make a contribution. I think this could be a good reminder to them, not the shootdown of an airplanes good, but this could be a reminder to them they are totally on the wrong path. Neil its interesting, a lot of folks hope cooler heads prevailed and that the worst is over and i know it can be just rhetoric and playing to the local audience but virtually all the top iranian leaders have been talking about its not over, its not over, so if they mean what they say, are they talking cyberattacks, are they talking more targets . What do you envision here . They have a vast terrorist network. The Republican Guard corps is a terrorist organization, thats why suleimani was a legitimate target. My supposition is that the missile strike was sort of first salvo, then they are husbanding their resources, trying to figure out what to do next, what can they do in a shocking and spectacular way but at the same time, they said were done, and you know, unless we attack and then they counterattack so perhaps theres a diplomatic opening here. I think thats what the president s remarks yesterday were all about. So lets see if we can go down that National Power element of diplomacy and see if we cant pull a rabbit out of the hat here. Thats what i would like to see. But what we dont need, neil, is nancy pelosi, you know, pulling the obama 6,000 mile screwdriver out of the toolbox and telling us what we can and cannot do in iran or iraq or these combat zones to hamstring the president with this resolution that theyre talking about prematurely when iran is talking in a bellicose fashion, only sends a signal to iran that we are divided over this, and this old saw about politics stopping at the waters edge for the democrats, they are just totally unprepared to contribute to National Security discussions because they so hate this president and they just need to get out of the way on this. Neil well, you know, they say republicans were that way with president obama when he had the red line in the sand on syria, you know, and they wanted to test his mettle and have congress approve it first, so i guess youre right, it goes back and forth. But away we go, right . Well, you know, you know, their definition of imminent threat is benghazi. They need to see body bags before they will agree that something is an imminent threat. The president stopped an attack. I dont care if it was minutes before, hours before or days before, he stopped an attack on u. S. Citizens and u. S. Property and he had every right to do so. Neil so my producer will kill me, but you are always a good guest, senator mike lee has said the briefing was insulting and demeaning and they didnt do that. What do you say . I didnt see the briefing but i can understand why it might be sparse in information because there are so many leakers and so many people working with iran where you have, you know, kerry and former obama officials and so if there are democrats in on that briefing, i can totally understand why we are at such a place in this country where we cant trust each other because there are so many leaks and with social media and technology being what it is, its five minutes before iran has the information that was in that briefing. Neil general, thank you very much. Always enjoy our chats. I always like to remind folks that i appreciate as well your Incredible Service to this country. A creepy news alert. More trouble for amazons ring. The company firing at least four of its employees for abusing access to user video. Hillary vaughn has more on this. Reporter we are getting this new information from amazon Security Camera company ring. In a letter they wrote to senate law makers answering questions about the security of their devices, ring admits they had to fire four people because they abused their access to user videos, telling congress this. Quote, over the last four years, ring has received four complaints or inquiries regarding a Team Members Access to ring video data. Each of the individuals involved in these incidents was authorized to view video data. The attempted access to that data exceeded what was necessary for their job functions. So they were fired. Ring says they arent aware of any significant data breaches or hacks of their devices that would rise to the level of alerting these Government Agencies but they do confirm what we reported in your show on tuesday, that users email addresses and passwords are being bought off the dark web and then that stolen data is being used to access users ring accounts and their cameras. Ring says they continue to see bad actors do this to their devices but confirm they dont have any evidence of any compromise of their ring system or network. The problem of recycled emails and passwords was big enough for the company to say they are now independently monitoring whether their customers emails and passwords may have been exposed in a Third Party Data breach, and they also say they will give them a headsup if they think their information has been compromised by another company or data breach. So sonos ceo says we used to have this partnership with google and essentially it was google music play, would go through our supppeakers so theye accusing google of stealing the i. P. , cranking out cheaper speakers, then also using the data to have more information about the customers, sonos customers, so this ceo is going to be allowed to testify next week. This is not really going to be a feelgood moment for google and its really going to cast this bigger shadow over are these Tech Companies actually squashing competition. Neil in his case, hes going to try to say look, heres the i. P. , this is the foundation that was started with us. Deirdre exactly. He actually said in this lawsuit he wants googles laptops, phones and speakers, he wants the lawsuit result to essentially be a ban on the sales of all those products. The fact that hes being permitted to testify in front of lawmakers neil this came to light, what, a couple weeks ago, now all of a sudden hes up on the hill. Deirdre for the record, google has disputed the allegations. We have to cover both sides. Saying disappointed sonos brought these lawsuits instead of continuing to negotiate in good faith but the idea here is big tech still remains in the crosshairs and next week is going to be a pretty spicy week. Neil i didnt realize they were in partnership before. Deirdre yes, they were. Thats how sonos says google stole their i. P. , they were working together, google understood the Technology Behind these Smart Speakers, then just managed to produce and sell them cheaper and easier. Neil not sweet music to their ears. See what i did there . Deirdre i see what you did there. Neil thank you. I think i can leave now. Thank you very, very much. Now, one state is looking to cut college costs. A lot of states look at that. But its looking at doing it with beer. I will explain. hey there im lonnie from lonnies lumber. If you need lumber wood, lonnies is better than good. We got oak, cherry, walnut, and more. And we also have the best selection of plywood clattering in the state. Hey highpitched laughter man dang woodchucks wood clattering stop chuckin that wood with geico, the savings keep on going. Just like this sequel. 15 minutes could save you 15 or more on Car Insurance. And when you open a new brokerage account, your cash is automatically invested at a great rate. Thats why fidelity leads the industry in value while our competition continues to talk. Talk, talk neil really . A teenaged intern from nasa discovered a new planet similar to tatooine in star wars. Its their way of sneaking in this star wars nonsense. This kid was on the job for like three days, discovered the planet. Can you imagine if you were working with these top engineers and physicists, what . Anyway, good for him. New planet. I will tell you the details shortly. Meantime, we are on a mind binge of a planet right now. Stocks hitting new records. Tech is a major reason. Gerri willis at the New York Stock Exchange with whats driving it right now. We are about 75 points away from dow 29,000. Incredible. Gerri it is incredible. Its been an incredible day. You have done a great job of covering the markets. Let me tell you that apple, which has been important in fueling the dows ascension closer to but not quite to 29,000, apple higher here, as you can see. This stock hitting a new high today, the price target raised to 350. This is the thing you will hear a lot about, price raise targets by analysts. There are also reports iphones are Getting Better sales in china. Lets take a look at another one here. Google, cowan raising its price target to 1575. This stock also making new highs today. Facebook also on fire. They announced changes to political ads allowing users to turn off some of that ad targeting. Guess what . Cowan raised its price target to 245 on that stock. Microsoft is another stock here. Tech stock hitting all time highs, raising the price target to 180. Wedbush to 195. See a theme here . These analysts are trying to keep up with the market in some cases, its not really backed by all that much analysis. Its just they see the stocks going to the moon and they dont tell people to stop buying except for tesla. Now, that stock has been on a rocket ride. Today earlier in the day, it hit a market cap equivalent to bigger than ford and gms market cap combined for the first time ever. That was a big deal. A baird analyst saying im cutting the stock to neutral, i have had you in the stock a couple years now, might as well take some profits. The moral of the story. Back to you. Neil thank you very much. Meantime, i want to go to charles payne, the host of making money. I was thinking, charles, that a lot of of the technology stocks, socalled fang and other related stocks that were thought to maybe kind of have to move over for new leadership, they are leading the charge again, arent they . Charles they really are. Remember the old dogs of the dow, people would come into a new year buying the stocks that didnt work out thinking well, maybe its their turn. You know what, they might have done that for 30 seconds because these other names started to rally but you know, gerri talked about some of these upgrades. Every day this week, one of these major momentum names, alphabet, i have seen it with a few others, apple, this is the third firm that has gone to 350, almost every day they are getting upgrades and meantime, amazon was put on a big list today because that stock is actually underperformed over the last year. Compared to some of these other ones. So people are going into them but the fundamentals continue to improve, even with the big question marks. Consider all the attorney generals who are looking into facebook, looking into some of these other names, the taxes and fines they have to pay on both sides of the atlantic, they are rocket ships. Neil you know, talking about what the president was outlining today or what he commented on this Iranian Plane Crash but ostensibly, the backdrop for that presser was to weigh in on regulatory relief that might get a second lease on life to get highways and bridges and all that stuff built a lot faster, and if you think about it, you and i were talking about it at the time when the Administration Just started, long before the tax cuts were pushed, regulatory relief was pushed. That was immediate, wasnt it . Charles it was immediate. These have been pent up listen, go back to when president obama talked about doing these sort of things, then at some point, he and the former ceo of ge kind of admitted some of these projects werent shovelready. Well, the reason they werent shovelready is this mountain of regulatory, you know, its a regulatory nightmare to get them ready. The projects are ready. Getting through this maze of bureaucracy has been the problem. So moving that out the way. By the way, i have someone from the white house on today, going through why this must be done because environmentalists are saying its life or death and will cause harm but a lot of people think the economics of it really make sense at this point. Neil talking about the acting white house budget director. That should be very very cool. Thank you, my friend. All right. In the meantime, the claws are out. Bud light is looking to take on one call with its own hard seltzer. What a time to be alive. The world is customized to you. Built for you. So why isnt it all about you, when it comes to your money . So. Whats on your mind . We are edward jones, a 97yearold firm built for right now. With one Financial Advisor per office, were all about knowing whats important to you the one who matters. Edward jones. Its time for investing to feel individual. Beyond the routine checkups. Beyond the notsoroutine cases. Comcast business is helping doctors provide care in whole new ways. All working with a new generation of technologies powered by our gigspeed network. Because beyond technology. There is human ingenuity. And now for their service to the community, we present limu emu doug with this key to the city. [ applause ] its an honor to tell you that Liberty Mutual customizes your Car Insurance so you only pay for what you need. And now we need to get back to work. [ applause and band playing ] only pay for what you need. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Neil well, bud light is jumping in, clawing its way into the hard seltzer field. Grady trimble has more, i guess with a super bowl spin as well. Hey, grady. Reporter hey, neil. What you see here is 2,000 cans of the soon to be released product whizzing by every single minute, and this is bud lights hard seltzer. Its going to be released on monday and lets be honest, its hardly the first hard seltzer on the market. In fact, two other brands had 85 of the Hard Seltzer Market share as of last summer but as beer drinking declines, Anheuser Busch inbev sees this as an area where it can grow. Some analysts say this could be a 2. 5 billion industry by next year. Thats why the north american ceo tells me in an exclusive interview they want in in this category. You think you can overtake, say, white claw or truly with this product . We want more people into the category. We want the category growing and we want to make sure those consumers who have the chance to try bud light, and we know if they try, they will prefer the light given the quality of the product that we have. Reporter we mentioned beer sales declining in recent years. Thats actually not the case for craft beer. That segment is growing and ab inbev is expanding its footprint there as well. What the ceo tells me in that interview is he hopes that this becomes a product that some people who enjoy beer but havent tried hard seltzer will give a go, an untapped market, untapped customer, if you will. Neil . Neil i see what you did there. Thank you very much, my friend. In the meantime, speaking of beer, beer money could get a whole new meaning right now. Theres a beer tax to pay for new york public colleges that is gaining momentum. At least thats the idea behind it. Back with dan, edward, kelly jane. You are shaking your head now. Why . This has got me spitting mad, neil. I am furious about this. The idea of raising the beer tax and theyre not even going to dedicate it towards maybe antidrinking efforts or efforts to keep kids from getting hooked on alcohol. They are just going to give it to the suny college and say heres extra money we made from putting tax on beer for hardworking americans like myself who want to enjoy an icecold beverage. This is ridiculous and i wont stand for it. Neil wow. Wow. A tax youre against . Neil it seems what they are doing is raising, its 14 cents, they want to bring it to 30, they are using a portion of that for this. But i know how this kind of stuff goes. Even if you are assuming its going to make its way to ease college cost pressures, it skips that. Oh, yeah, doubling taxes on beer and then picking this targeted feelgood industry, oh, the college kids are going to help out, this is just opening the door for all sorts of special interests. We are going to tax this industry, give rob paul to pay peter. This is a total disaster. We need to lower the beer tax from 14 cents to zero. Zero cents. Lets get that wine tax, too, though. Neil thats the idea. They want to double it and make it what wine tax is. As a wine drinker, not a beer drinker, like quite a few women are, i do think that could be a sexist tax, the wine tax is a little bit higher there. But i mean, its one of the most highly taxed states, as i discovered since moving here last month, and people, you know, the krecensus figures cam out and showed people are fleeing new york and i think it is because of the high taxes. Mentioned how the Craft Beer Industry is booming. Its booming in new york and taxes are doubled on it. Neil this could be a warning to a certain royal couple if they ever want to move here because the royal family is reportedly seeking a working solution with prince harry and meghan markle. Im hearing in this what they are looking at is just relief from being in a Pressure Cooker and then finding an alternative. Yeah. Yeah. What it really is, its time to get paid is what time it is. Meghan markle is one of instagrams biggest stars, one of the most followed people in the world, and she cant make any money off of, you know, Kendall Jenner makes a Million Dollars per Instagram Post and shes the least popular kardashian. Neil shes not crying poverty. No, but its time to get paid. Theyre saying we want to get out of the Pressure Cooker, theres so much attention on us, its time to get paid off of the Pressure Cooker. I understand. Look, they want to move here to america, land of opportunity, get this neil she wants to move to canada. Right . My native land. [ speaking simultaneously ] i mean, it is interesting, the royal family has always been about duty and public service, and the queen, she was a teenager volunteering during the war. Neil they didnt run it by the queen. No, they did not. Its interesting, because as soon as they announced it they had a huge website up with some questions and answers that clearly took a lot of preparation. When i read that last night, i actually did think do they want to be able to make a lot of money off books, speeches, merchandise . Today comes the news they have got a ton of trademarks and thats exactly what they are going to do. Keep in mind, prince harry, from Princess Diana alone inherited 60 million. Its not like they are starving and really need the cash. Neil they could have the cash, right . They are not giving up any official position but they are giving up the welfare. Time to get off the dole. Get off the dole. Look, harry is not even in line for the throne anyway. Theres really very little downside to this. Move over to canada, u. S. Neil seems to me they are calling it mexit. Shes the one who wanted this. I guess he figures, you know, happy wife, happy life. Thats how its been. He reportedly told the queen when they were doing wedding preparations what meghan wants, meghan gets. Certainly britain and neil the queens reaction i think not. Exactly. Exactly. Neil i dont see it happening. You dont see it happening . Neil i dont. The palace released a statement saying its complicated. Neil yeah. Clearly they are putting a brake on it. You say that because you dont i think you dont know enough black women. Its going on, all right . Let me tell you that right now. Neil the fighting back and forth. I know black women. I think i have an idea. Neil oh, look at the time. All right. In the meantime, the corner of wall and broad, we got records across the board right now. The question for the dow is whether its going to follow suit and climb another thousand point milestone. It just happened 36 days ago. Could happen today. More after this. Im your mother in law. And i like to question your every move. Like this left turn. Its the next one. You always drive this slow . How did you make someone i love . That must be why youre always so late. I do not speed. And thats saving me cash with drivewise. My son, he did say that you were the safe option. And thats the nicest thing you ever said to me. So get allstate. Stop bossing. Where good drivers save 40 for avoiding mayhem, like me. This is my sons favorite color, you should try it. [mayhem] you always drive like an old lady . [tina] youre an old lady. Most people think as a reliable phone company. But to businesses, were a reliable partner. We Keep Companies ready for whats next. woman when it comes to digital transformation. Verizon keeps business ready. Neil general fir griffin correspondent, iran was used that, and regretted that. Theyre denying that. Now to charles payne. Charles newell, thank you very much. Good afternoon, im charles payne. Making money, stocks continue to climb to record highs. The dow nearing 29,000 mark. There is growing anxiety. There might be too much optimism. Breaking news, that iran may have shot down the commercial airliner. Many folks wonder if now is the time to curb the president s ability to protect this country . I will ask tammy bruce and congressman lee zeldin. Plus will the fed be more accommodative in 2020 . We exclusive i interview with neel kashkari. That and more coming on making money
