Last night at my direction, the United States military executed a flawless strike that terminated the terrorist ringleader responsible for gravely wounding and murdering thousands and thousands of people and hundreds and hundreds at least of americans. Qassem suleimani has been killed and his bloody rampage is now forever gone. Lou the commanderinchief obviously taking decisive and bold action to end the thuggish reign of irans Qassem Suleimani as leader of the iranian quds force. He had a lot of american blood on his hands, responsible for killing more than 600 of our troops in the iraq war. Some put the estimates much higher than that. Suleimani, the chief exporter of iran state sponsor terrorism, but because of President Trump, and our unrivalled military, the suleimani legend is ended. He got what he deserved. The president last night directing an airstrike in baghdad to kill suleimani, just days after an attack on the u. S. Embassy in baghdad by iranian backed militiamen who were operating on the orders of suleimani. According to President Trump, the iranian general was plotting what is termed imminent and sinister terrorist attacks, but was caught in the act and he was terminated. American lives were in jeopardy and the president moved quickly, decisively to protect this country. The message couldnt be clearer. President trump means business, and no one should mess with the idea of america or americans. For more tonight, we turn to White House Correspondent kevin corke. We took action last night to stop a war. We did not take action to start a war. President trump, target americans and you will pay the ultimate price. Under my leadership, americas policy is unambiguous to terrorists who harm or intend to harm any american. We will find you. We will eliminate you. The president also signalled the willingness to make a deal with iran, tweeting iran has never won a war but never lost a negotiation. He accused the iranian terrorists of killing or badly wounding thousands of americans and says he was plotting to kill many more but got caught. The aftermath mourned and celebrated by the iraqis, dancing in the streets of freedom tweeted secretary of state pompeo. White house Officials Say they are aware that the resulting fallout from the demise of general suleimani could include some terror plots that were already underway across the globe. The administration and the National Security team in particular for taking out a man who is responsible for hundreds and hundreds of american lives being lost in iraq and the spread of statesponsored terrorism from iran. Your thoughts tonight, the mood in the white house and within the administration. Well, certainly its a great day for our country because of the president s decisive action, thousands more american lives and other lives will be saved saved. This man, this terrorist was brutal, and not only was he responsible for hundreds of deaths of americans, but thousands of horrible injuries to americans and others. He wasnt going to stop targeting americans. Thats something to think about. The president , you know, he knew there was imminent danger. We had good intel that there was imminent danger and that americans were going to be killed and so he took the bold and often times hard action that he had to as president knowing that he was going to save lives and save lives then and in the future too. Lou and to hear the democrats at least many of them tell it, this was an imposition on a stable world order in the middle east that only President Trump seems to be able to affect. I mean, its outrageous what i have heard today in the course of the morning, earlier, from the democratic leadership. Its as if they are completely unhinged. Well, they are. You know, i continue to be so disappointed by these democrats. No matter what this president does, it is not good enough. The democrats should be happy along with the rest of this country that american lives were saved, and instead they were complaining that they werent notified. You know, time is of the essence when things like this are going down. The president does have Constitutional Authority to protect americans when they are in danger. Also, i would say that, you know, schumer was complaining that he wasnt briefed, and then when he got briefed today, he was complaining that it wasnt good enough and he still had questions. They just continue to lou stephanie, i think im sorry, yes. Lou i think Chuck Schumer was born complaining. And i wouldnt expect any quick change in his behavior. It is also i think a good case could be built, it would be utterly irrational of the Trump Administration to brief the very people who are trying to unseat him, remove him from power, to overthrow his presidency and to have done everything in their power to do so. I mean, i just cant understand why a neutral voice in this say in the National Media isnt saying what are the democrats talking about . And why would they expect anything other than to be found untrustworthy by the president of the United States . Well, im going to say because there is no mutual voice in the media right now. You know, the Washington Post talked about suleimani as the most revered military leader. Again, were getting into, you know, he was a terrorist. He was a murderer. Watching cable news today, it was like they were hoping for retaliation. You know, they are like scaring the American Public for ratings. I dont understand why, again, the media and the democrats arent happy along with the rest of this country that our president took the bold action to kill a murderer. We should all be very proud today, and we should all be very happy that american lives are saved. Lou no question about it. And lets turn to a different subject here tonight, as were going to continue to cover this throughout this hour, without question, but the impeachment process, senator Mitch Mcconnell today standing up i thought tall and bold saying that nancy pelosi, her time on the stage of impeachment has ended. Yeah, absolutely. He did a really great job laying out the case of, you know, the process thus far, how unfair it was. To be honest with you, lou, after the events of the last 24 hours, i think this impeachment stuff just seems all the more silly and pathetic. In the time that this impeachment, you know, scam has been going on, the president has killed two terrorists in this world and again saved thousands of lives. So the impeachment scam, it will continue. Its really unfortunate. We have, you know, we think that she will turn the articles over. We expect that there will be a trial in the senate. We know that the president will be acquitted because he did absolutely nothing wrong. They keep talking about all this new evidence from a New York Times story. There are emails that say the president wanted the aid to be withheld. He has admitted that himself. He wanted it to be withheld to make sure there was no corruption. Theres nothing there. Again, sadly in the last 24 hours, there are a lot bigger things happening in this world. It is saturday this continues. Lou its sad. Its also outrageous, and its about time i believe that the Republican Party just simply draw the line and say until the Democratic Party begins to act like the loyal opposition, instead of an Oppositional Force at every corner trying to remove a president , that they can expect not to be briefed and not a lot of other things as well. The Defense Department calling this deployment a precautionary action in response to heightened threats from iran against american personnel and facilities. The very idea that there would be any voice that would rise up in this country to say this president was somehow reckless and irresponsible as he did what should have been done in the estimation of most analysts ive talked with long long ago. Your thoughts . If there was any action that this president has taken against a terrorist, even beyond al baghdadi or the others, its this one. Hes dealing with a problem that is an iranian aggressive behavior and terror activities without waging a war. People are talking about war. What war . An invasion of iraq or said invasion of iran these are not happening. These are Counterterrorism Operations and he did the right thing because soleimani and his networks were preparing for a campaign against u. S. Military diplomats, civilians and others in addition to what they have been doing in terms of oppressing the iraqis killing 600 or 700 of them. It was a successful operation. No american casualties and we are warning the iranians not to try to open a war because the president wants to end these wars. Lou and of course the ayatollah, fred, saying that there would be severe consequences as a result of the action taken against soleimani. Your thoughts on the possibilities of escalation here . Well, look, i was on the house intelligence committee. I know something about covert actions. They are supposed to be a notification to congress maybe to the gang of eight, the top eight members of congress before these things take place, but the law says if the president doesnt do this, hes supposed to just notify congress in a timely manner with the reason. We know why he didnt notify them in advance because he thought information about this could leak. The president cannot trust them with information that would put lives at risk. I think the president did the right thing. Lou walid, your thoughts on the same issue because i cant imagine why any president in this situation, you know, opposed from every quarter by the radical left trying to overthrow his presidency would feel in any way that it would be incumbent upon him to tell them about the details, even the generality of this operation, to take out a terrorist leader. Look, i agree with fred. Hes been inside the government. He knows about those things. Basically if this was a war because some critics are saying hes taking us to war. Of course hes going to go to congress and talk with the leader. If this was a special operation, and it was, he can, he has the discretion of informing the congressional leader, gang of eight and more, but if the situation is very critical, he has the ability of conducting the operation and then of course informing the congressional leaders. At the end of the day, the legislative branch will have that information, but it is under his capacity to conduct this very serious and leaks could damage this operation, and what we heard about leaking over the past two to three years, thats not encouraging the president to share this information at this point in time. Lou does it appear to both of you and fred lets start with you, does it appear to you that schumer and pelosi and their reactions here and purely political reactions on a National Security issue as important as this are really basically trying to preserve the president who preceded him, obamas legacy rather than preserve the safety of the American People . I think theres some truth to that, but look, the reaction to this issue just shows the democrats continue to refuse to accept the legitimacy of this president s election. Theyve opposed him on everything. Opposed all his Foreign Policy appointments, everything that comes up to the hill. It is a shame something this serious, this dire when u. S. Lives are at risk in the middle east that we cant come together, that schumer and pelosi cant come forward and say mr. President , you did a good job here. This is the right thing. Lou yeah. I think, fred, that we have moved beyond they dont accept the outcome of the election. They are trying to overturn the result of the election. They are trying to do so in the most vicious ways that they can conjure. There is a corruption within this party, the Democratic Party that is that would have been unthinkable just three years ago, only because we didnt know the extent of their corruption and their intent to overthrow this president. Walid . Look, i agree with you that in addition to deep domestic [inaudible] that are sad and are impacting our National Security and Foreign Policy, there is this phenomena i dont understand why many of the critics in the opposition are hanging to that iran deal. I mean, the iranian people, the iraqi people, everybody in the neighborhood, are against it, and then they criticize the president if he takes action when National Security wants him to take action. Lou this should be a moment of celebration and commendation of the president , his National Security team, our military, all of our forces and allies. It is it is that for most americans. Its the senates turn now to render sober judgment as the framers envisioned. But we cant hold a trial without the articles. The senates rules dont provide for that. The president today i just find myself reacting why should a president have to explain that a terrorist who is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of our troops in iraq, who is responsible for global terrorism, who has killed thousands of people, is responsible for their deaths, he has to actually explain that to the left wing National Media and the Democratic Party. I mean, thats thats just to me stupefying. Lou, this is what we have come to expect from democrats and from the left. Weve also come to expect this type of leadership from President Trump. What happened yesterday in taking out soleimani means that today americans woke up and we are safer today than what we were yesterday. This is what we have grown accustomed to with President Trumps leadership. Hes going to go down in history as being one of the best president s america ever has had. I appreciate the reason and the restraint this president s that shown towards iran. Yesterday was a victory. It shouldnt be politicized. I feel sorry for my democrat colleagues and friends who look so petty in their reaction to this good news for our country, for american National Security. They look petty in how they are dealing with impeachment and not allowing that to take on the next step in the senate, but thats as ive said thats what weve grown accustomed to with democrats in the congress today. Lou it is an extraordinary moment in history for so many reasons. We have as i was saying earlier with walid and fred, this is a moment for celebration. This is a country whose president has acted, with an attack on a specific enemy of this country. This is straightforward. A person who has done this country and hundreds of americans, indeed thousands of americans great damage and killed hundreds, if not even more. Its just its a you know, i hate to use the word surreal because it is so often overused, it is cliched but it is i will go back to my word, stupefying. Thats a good word for it, lou. What most americans already know is that this president s record on National Security is the best record of my lifetime. He just in spite of being impeached, the day before the Impeachment Vote in the house, he passed a defense bill that is the largest defense bill in american history. Hes passed three of them in a row to rebuild the American Military so that he can continue to adopt the reaganesque mantra of peace through strength, to prevent us from getting involved in needless endless wars around the globe. Thats in great contrast to the Previous Administration that showed weakness, whose policy was one of appeasement toward bad actors like iran. This president s record in supporting our troops, supporting our veterans is substantial. It has to it cant go unnoticed. It is why once again i appreciate this president s leadership and i look forward to another four years of it come this november. Lou yeah. The American People will demand it. This is a president who has already in my opinion, hes already historic, but in my opinion, hes also already one of the greatest president s and with another four years, in which to get more done. Hes already set a standard, congressman, for president s that most mortals wont be able to meet. He outworks them. He outthinks. He is remarkably resourceful. Hes bright. His judgment is second to none. It is just to me and also i have to say, im watching people in the house of representatives, theyre coming together behind this president. Theres actual bona fide quantitative, substantive unity among republicans, and were not just hearing about strong letters to follow from you guys. Were seeing you all stand up, and i have to say, thats impressive. We need to see it in the senate as well. But its impressive. Im inspired by this president s leadership. Ive been back in my district, lou, for two weeks over the Christmas Holiday season. I have never been stopped by constituents, many of them whom i have never met before, as much as i have over these past two weeks. The message i hear from each and every one of them is keep fighting alongside this president. Keep standing up for this president , helping him do what he needs to do to get this country on the right track. Im very proud to stand with him and what he had the guts to do yesterday in taking out one of the biggest terrorists on the world stage, soleimani is something no other recent president has had the guts to do. Thats why im proud to stand with this president. My constituents are proud of this president. Im looking forward to getting back to washington and getting back to work with him next week. President trump today talking about his decision to take out irans Commander Qassem Soleimani of the quds force, one of the worst terrorists in this fight against terror, for the past 20 years. And Mitch Mcconnell calls out pelosis fantasy as he put it, the Senate Majority leader today dismissing the speakers efforts to shape the impeachment trial in the senate, if there is to be one. Mcconnell says pelosi wants to hold the articles of impeachment because she is now afraid and looking for a way out. Well, multiple National Security sources are warning tonight that iran can get revenge on the United States, would like to at least for the killing of its top commander. Secretary of state mike pompeo warning among other things of cyberattack threats from iran this morning. Here he is. Theres always risk, cyberattacks. Iranians have a deep and complex cyber capability to be sure. Qassem soleimani himself, the man that we took out yesterday, orchestrated attacks right here in washington, d. C. , not too terribly long ago. It was unsuccessful, but that was him. That was the same guy. The actions that we took yesterday were both consistent with deterrence and with disrupting that imminent attack. Lou and President Trump today declared an end to iranian general soleimanis reign of terror insisting hes not seeking an overthrow of iranian government, no change of regime. We do not seek regime change. However, the iranian regimes aggression in the region including the use of proxy fighters to destabilize its neighbors must end and it must end now. Lets get to first the issue of retaliation, escalation on the part of the iranians. The democrats are making it clear thats going to be their talking point throughout and are ignoring all together the fact that the president s decision to take out soleimani was in retaliation for killing american troops and contractor. Yeah, i mean, lou, we had very specific intelligence, and we have had it for a little bit of time that soleimani was directing an attack on americans in iraq, and many of the iraqi proxy leaders are involved in that, and soleimani was killed along with muhandis, soleimanis deputy in charge of all the programs in iraq. Tonight as we speak a couple of hours ago, some drone attacks were conducted against some of the other leaders that were going to participate in that attack. Lets assume that attack took place and the president had knowledge that it was taking place for a number of days and americans are killed. What would be the criticism then . I mean, my god, the president acted responsibly. He had a duty to act knowing americans were going to be threatened. I just dont get the criticism of a president acting so prudently to prevent americans from being killed. And it was absolutely the right move to be made. It should have been done a long time ago, lou. He was designated as a global terrorist in 2005 and sanctioned by the u. N. , and because of the appeasement policy of the obama administration, it was hands off iran, hands off everything that theyve done in the region that was so malign and so aggressive and so detrimental to the people in syria and yemen and other places. But this president changed the strategy and said look, were not going to put up with this behavior in the region anymore. No weapons, no nuclear weapons, no missiles, and lets change the behavior, and he chose not to do it with bullets. He chose to do it with diplomacy and economic sanctions. And its been working. Lou and he chose to do the right thing, and that is take out an enemy of the United States. An enemy of nearly every state in the region and suddenly, the left wing media has gone completely stupid. It seems they have been some sort of seizure of stupid in which theyre ignoring the history, ignoring the Foreign Policy issues that are there. Its just extraordinary to me to see this kind of thought that blinds the National Left wing media to history as well as to the news of the events of the day. It should have been bipartisan support for this attack on soleimani when we know he and his cohorts were planning to kill more americans. I cant get over the divisiveness that exists. Its sad to see it happen. The other thing, lou, is the iranians have been trying to provoke us now for a year and a half, and theyve been going up the escalation ladder to do it, from disrupting tankers, blowing them up, attacking oil fields, shooting down a drone and conducting 11 attacks on bases where americans are. No american up to the last time was killed. The president never fired back on any of it. He exercised extraordinary restraint. And i think it gives him further legitimacy for the actions he has taken in bringing down soleimani and these other leaders because it absolutely had to be done given the intelligence that they had and demonstrated in the past that im not going to be provoked into a war with iran. Im only going to take a measured response, and i think thats what we really have here. Lou yeah, i think this country i know this country is very fortunate to have President Trump in the white house because he has as you pointed out has been constrained and measured despite provocation, and he is at the same time embattled with a Democratic Party trying to overthrow him. It is tall but inexplicable in any other terms than the Democratic Party means to overthrow a legitimate government. Its just stunning. Your thoughts . It is, yeah. The other thing that needs to be noted here is the iranians are really spooked, lou, by the civil unrest they have had in the country. Never had anything like it in 40 years. They have had instances in the past, but nothing like this, small towns, small cities, big cities, same issue. Its against the regime, not against america, against the regime, and it spiked in november. The iranians are trying to find some way to put pressure on the Trump Administration through the International Community to back off the sanctions. Thats what this is all about. And they keep going up the escalation ladder, hoping to create this kind of crisis. And that is where we find ourselves. The iranians are back on their heels, and theyre making bad decisions. We will see what they decide to do about this. I think they know full well if they are going to go out and kill more americans, they are going to get a response from this president. Theres no doubt about that now. There may have been some doubt about it before, but that chapter is done. They know full well that he will come at them full throttle if they do that again. It reminded me three years ago when he was president elect, we were talking in trump tower about another hot spot in the world, and lou, he looked at me straight in the eyes and said robert, im going to do whatever it takes to keep this nation safe. And weve seen him fulfill that promise. And thats why at the end of lou time and time again. I said tonight in my prayer we thank god we have a president who doesnt hesitate or flinch when it comes to confronting and eliminating evil. Lou but evil is present in so many forms and it is not all overseas or in iran. There is something abroad in this country, pastor, that to me is inexplicable, that we have a nation that is a large portion of it is not celebrating when an enemy is killed, an enemy of this country is killed, and the president is questioned about well, how bad was this person . It doesnt matter to them that he killed Sewa Soleimani has killed hundreds and hundreds of our troops, wounded thousands and has carried death throughout the region. Theres nothing new about this. This is knowledge for anyone to be aware of. I cant imagine anyone would not be over the course of the past 20 years of his involvement as the leader of the quds force. Lou, what you are talking about reminds me of what the bible says in the old testament, woe to the nation that calls evil good and calls good evil. Well, that is the motto of the democrat party. They call evil things good, and they call good things like eliminating this Terror Threat to the entire world, they call that evil. They are perverse in their thinking. They cant even think straight, to be able to recognize good from evil, and thats why i dont see how any person with a semblance of a conscience could vote for one of the Democratic Candidates who embrace these godless and perverted policies.
