This is impacting markets. This morning, china will cut tariffs on a wide range of products. It starts january 1st. Here are the 850 products that will see cuts in tariff prices including frozen pork, smartphone technology, pharmaceuticals, information technology, you cuts cuts this summer as well, 389 million in tariffs last year. What is your reaction to this . Is this a little olive branch for the u. S. . This is a step in the right direction. Obviously, theres more work to be done but this is something from china, not the u. S. So definitely this moves the ball forward. Were positive on this, along of course with the strong u. S. Economy. Maria i dont know how good this phase one deal is, mike, but weve got to get it signed and once we do, that is certainly a step in the right direction. Absolutely. And the p optics of this is going to bring a lot of money off the sidelines into the market. A lot of people have been saying they want to see what happens, want to see if a china trade deal gets done. Markets have nice rally, what if a deal doesnt get done. It looks like a phase one deal will get done. We have a lot of money that will come into the markets, even though were at alltime highs. That should push us higher. Maria unchartered territory already. I want to know your outlook for 2020 in terms of markets and the economy. You think this is the beginning of a new rally here . I think theres room to run for the markets. As long as the Economic Data from the u. S. Is as strong as its been, it doesnt have to be gangbusters, as long as we dont hit not too long ago we were talking about a recession in the u. S. Along as we have growth, as long as we have strong jobs picture, the market can go higher. Maria look how were ending the year, record after record in terms of market performance. Theres great confidence weve the fed on the sidelines, we had a great year of rate cuts. But look at the consumer. Look at housing. We have new home sales today, theyre going to be positive again. Durable goods, good, consumers are buying cars. That might offset in durable goods. Boeing, thats another story. Maria thats a separate situation. Totally. But when you look at next year, i think we have confidence. Its to be expected that were looking for the market to be up and were looking for the economy to grow. Market were looking for possibly 7, 8 up from here which is pretty good after a strong r year in 2019, 26 . Maria another 7, 8 in the stock market against a very strong economy, this is going to be good for the president s reelection efforts. Look at the impeachment push. Jeff van drew joined me yesterday in an exclusive interview on why he switched from being a democrat to the republican party. First time ive seen someone from the majority moving to the minority. He talked about impeachment and why he switched parties. Watch this. The phi l nail sign for me was final sign for me was oddly enough, one of the county chairmen came to me and said i want to speak to you. He said i want to let you know that you have to vote for impeachment. I said what do you mean . He said youve got to vote for impeachment. If you dont, your not youre not going to be able to run in my county. I worked so hard and tried to give so much, not only to the party, but to everybody. The thing that weve done and i wont go into them, but many, many Infrastructure Projects and helping people and all the services that we try to give people in our offices and it all boiled down to one vote that i may have my own individual opinion on one vote and thats not going to be allowed. Im going to be punished for that . Thats when i knew. Maria wow. So lee carter, we talked about this before. The shaming, the constant slamming, if you dont agree with them on anything. Thats why he switched parties. Its astounding, frankly. Maria i know. We found threequarters of americans are trusting government less as a result of whats going on with impeachment. And that is maria wow. A huge, huge number. I think its because of things like this. You feel the pressure. You feel like everybody is politicized. It seems like hes not able to have his own opinion and i think overall people are seeing into this and saying you know what, i dont trust the whole process and a i dont trust the government anymore. And thats really i think its very dang. Maria dangerous. Maria i thie turning against this because the process, theyre not believing in. They want fairness. At the end of the day, i think on both sides of the aisle we just want fairness. Thats why i was so outraged by the fbi behavior in 2016. They want fairness. Maria you dont want somebody putting their finger on the scale. We vote for that. Thats right. A lot of people we spoke to and ive spoken to in research weve done is okay, improper, maybe. Impeachable . Im not so sure. They feel like this is very political. Theyre not sure that anyone is out to get to the real truth, only the truth they want to get to. When you hear the behind the scenes story, i dont think it helps the democrats. You hope at some point in the country we get to like you said, you he vote for people and those people go whether its along party lines but theyre going to represent you and me and all of us. Maria and respect your friends ideas. Weve gotten so far away from that. Hopefully this will start to bring us back to where you can have some sort of normalcy in washington. The president talked about draining swamp. Hopefully we get to a place where we can trust politicians. Its going to be tough. Maria i dont know about that. This is why Jeff Van Drew turned. He has been very practice at this l call and moving on practice at this l call and moving on what practical and moving on what he thinks will impact people. The question is what about the independents or silent majority or is it cascading to two sides. Whats the poll theres. Whats interesting to me, they call them the anxiousits like the anxious middle, Something Like 67 right now are so overwhelmed and anxious by what they see, they would rather not watch, they dont want to be engaged. What happens is weve got people on either side who are super engaged and much louder. Weve got the in betweens and they cant deal with it. I dont blame them. Its difficult. Its hard to watch. Theyre trying to live their life. Theyre busy. Theyre making decisions based on what they feel. The economy is feeling good. Theyre busy, wanting to raise their families, be engaged with they things they want to do but this is toxic to them. Maria dont you think most people that we know are hanging out in the middle. Yes. Maria you might lean to the right on economics or certain things, lean to the left on other things but youre not an extreme person. Absolutely. Maria about these issues. Thats the point i was bringing up that hopefully politicians realize they need to speak to that, the middle. Maria i hope so. Seems like theyre focusing on one side or another. In the middle is where most people are. Maybe it starts in iowa with the caucuses. Maria thats right. Thats right after the super bowl, february. Super bowl is february 2nd. That weekend. And then the Iowa Caucuses after that. Well see when the senate trial is. Youve got several senators that will have to be in that seat, in that room during a senate trial. So if it goes beyond january, they obviously are impacted by not being able to go to iowa. The weekends box office, lets talk about this, star wars was the rise of skywalker soared with 175 million. Now, that crushed cats. But disney could be shaking in their boots anyway. The latest installment in the Star Wars Franchise saw lower Opening Weekend franchise numbers than the last two films in the trill trilogy. Mike, did you take your family yet . We didnt. Were not huge star wars people. The rides are cool at the parks but theres a generation thats really into star wars, i dont know if theyre bringing new people into the star wars. I think if you look out long term, boeing will get past this. From an investment standpoint, i think the worst is over and boeing is a good company to look at for the long term. Maria i think i agree with you. You cant say that crashes are not going to happen. Issues are not going to happen. This is what the company does. When you look at an overall revenue, its been a winner. Its been a leader in the country. Its the leading exporter, right . Yes. Its been a winner globally. As you have more and more countries like china getting bigger, ordering planes, if you look at it, boeing i think will do fine. Its hurt the market. Maria certainly has. Its hurt the market. Maria welcome back. Crude oil in focus this morning, take a look. Analysts are projecting a supply glut in 2020. This despite an initial trade deal between the u. S. And china as well as opec production cuts. Joining us now, steven shork. Do you agree with those out there that are looking for too much oil, a glut in supply . Whats your take for 2020 . Abs a lieutenantly, maria. We already have to a certain extent a glut if you believe in the forward curve of the market. So what weve seen over the last quarter is the price of oil priced out into the future for nearer term deliveries so on the front end of the curve is losing value to oil priced further out along the curve. In Commodity Markets where the nearby market falls relative to the outside market, that is your clearest tell tale that either you have too much supply, you dont have enough demand or you have a combination thereof. So yes, the market is wellsupplied with oil. Now, i am going to put a caveat out there, maria. What were about to see, it began last week, were going to see for at least maybe the next four, five weeks, youre going to see a material drawdown in crude oil supplies in pad three which is the u. S. Gulf coast. Think mississippi, the coast of alabama, louisiana, texas, so forth. The refinery, oil refinery, epicenter of the United States. Youre going to see a massive drawdown, probably we saw a drawdown in barrels of about 3 Million Barrels last week, the market got excited about that. Youll probably see another seven to maybe 10 more Million Barrels drawn down in this market area over the next month. This is very normal. So its very important that investors or traders Pay Attention to this. Youll see media headlines saying the inventories are falling. It will be a shortlived decline. Barrels will come back in january. This is all about an assessment that Oil Inventory owners are encouraged to purchasing their inventory purged their inventories they have on reserve because theyre taxed on the inventory. They want to draw it down, to lower the tax bill. Lets not get fooled by a drawdown in the oil over the next few months. Oil glut, that seems to be coming from the u. S. , and yet theres a story in the wall street journal today speaking to banks beginning to tighten loans to developers. I get it on the seasonality at the refining level. But on the e p area, could there be the question that theres going to be a tightening because the Global Supply is coming from west texas. Yeah, absolutely, its an excellent point. What youre going to have we have to keep in mind, at the end of 2014, all through 2015, Oil Prices Crashed from 100 a barrel down to 30 a barrel. What did wall street do . They extended the credit to the oil patch. Down another five years. So those five years are up. So between 2020 and 2022, you have 140 billion with a b, debt that is coming due. Wall street is no longer in the mood to extend that slack. They want to see the money. Youre going to see a major contraction in this industry over the next few years. Youre seeing a pullback on cay ex. There will be a cap ex. There will be a number of lows in the patch. They wont be able to meet the debt obligations. Youll see a lot of bloodletting over the next two years. It will be an extremely difficult two years in the u. S. Oil patch here. Steve, its mike murphy. Do you see a point where the u. S. Equities, Energy Equities are investable again or rebound from this long downward slope theyve been on or will the price of oil need to move higher for that to happen . I do. For instance, we saw the sugar high on that aramco ipo, an a ipo that was 10 years too late. So the industry does recognize this. I think the industry is signaling to us that were down in this range, that is to say that oil, 55 to 65 range is here to stay and why Oil Companies, the major western Oil Companies no longer call themselves Oil Companies, theyre energy companies, naturanatural gas companies, por companies. The companies on the forefront of making the transition of branding themselves away from oil toward the petrochemical industry, the power industry, those are the equities that you have to be focused on. For 2020, whats your forecast for oil prices . Right now, through the end of the year, our models are showing one, five chanc five percent ct well oil is range bound between the midto low 50s, to the mid to low low to mid60s. I know there are going of to be house managers named. Who do you think that is on the democrats side and who will it be on the president s side, who would you recommend to the president to help represent his side once the trial does start in the senate . I would go to John Ratcliffe, former u. S. Attorney thats done an amazing job. Id go to jim jordan, doug collins. These are individuals that i would pull in if i was in the white house because we have been at this remember, the democrats have been trying to impeach the president for two andahalf years. Changing whatever they could find every step of the way, from the Mueller Report to trying to quid pro quo to extortion to bribery to what they came up today with articles that reach nowhere, no facts. Through all those battles, you want people that have been through this, understand it and have been in the hearings, even when they were in the basement. Maria he made news there, saying the three people hes recommending that the president use to represent him in this trial and that as you heard was congressman John Ratcliffe, congressman jim jordan and doug collins who is the Ranking Member of judiciary. Maria you are living proof of whats going on in terms of those districts where President Trump won but youve got democrats trying to win in november. Tell us how you see it, claudia, in the midst of this impeachment battle. Yeah, last year was a tough year. I served in the 115th congress, one of the most successful congresses in decades. Tax reform is working in upstate new york. It was terrific for our district. Last year there was a dark cloud hanging over my district. A that was the Mueller Report which has now been pretty much debunked and weve seen a turn of events. Now you see this shampeachment as a ive heard it called. Nancy pelosi, this was a clear and present danger, imminent threat that the president posed, you heard this from the democrats and all of a sudden they get the Impeachment Vote and now were waiting, waiting for what . My opponent who narrowly defeated me next year in a trump district, actually the number one trump district held by a freshman democrat right now, he voted for impeachment. Both articles of impeachment. And my community is outraged. Ive been out every day throughout the community and theyre very upset about the impeachment of this president and you just read before i came on, if anyone is watching, before i turned on, it is the economy is just booming and even lagging in upstate new york but doing better than we were doing thanks to the policies of the 115th congress, the president and his leadership. And people are worried. They do not want to see a return to what we had before and a decline. Maria i want to get your take in a second about what the response is to the democrats wantwanting to bring back the st deduction. That really impacted your community. You mentioned the Mueller Report. Now weve got the Inspector Generals report on the origins of the russia probe, the conduct of the fbi. Senator Lindsey Graham joined me yesterday, saying he wants to see accountability as we all do. Watch this. Now we know from the ig report that in fact the dossier was a, quote, essential part of the wiretap warrant that they got, the warrant to wir wiretap an innocent person, carter page. Whats your reaction to that . The former fbi director, he spent 40 plus Million Dollars on this mueller probe. Shouldnt he had known that . The horowitz report is the first step in a long journey regarding sa fisa abuse. The fisa court rebuked the fbi. They came down hard on the fbi. They had failed to do that, i would have lost all confidence in the court. Comey said last week he was sorry. It was sloppy, no. Comey, it wasnt sloppy, it was criminal. Im going to call every person who signed the warrant application. Were going to pass laws to make sure it never happens again. Accountability will only be successful if somebody gets fired. Im looking at Christopher Wray to fire somebody at the fbi and somebody needs to go to jail and im looking at durham to hold people criminally accountable for the laws this broke. Maria yeah, like one law that they broke, claudia, was the fact that that fbi lawyer doctored a document that was going to the fisa court. Ted cruz explained it so well yesterday when he joined me yesterday. Were going to run that sound later. But your reaction Lindsey Graham . I agree. I think my Community Wants to say people say when will somebody be held accountable. Whats going to happen to john brennan, clapper, numerous others. Bring your attention to another thing i thought was interesting is congressman devin nunes, a frequent guest on your show and terrific member of congress, he raised this issue with the fisa court long ago that some of these documents being presented to the fisa court should have been brought to their attention and they should have done something about it. They seek lax now, slow to come out and call i out. My Community Wants to see people prosecuted. My sons serving in the marine corps. Could you imagine if someone in the military committed these kind of offenses. Look at these are the most powerful Government Agencies whether its the fbi, the cia, we cannot have this. If the democrats keep saying no one is above the law, look at these people who appear to be above the law. Maria youre right. They keep saying above the law. So far, everybodys been above the law with this story. Its fascinateing. Thats the catch phrase everywhere. No one is above the law except for the cia, except for the fbi, except for these people maria spot on, claudia. Despite their best efforts, constant peppering of impeachment trials, talks, media coverage, impeachment support has fallen. I think its fascinating going into this election, so many people talk about the suburban women, they ended up being the problem for republicans in the midterms. How do you see this playing out with the suburban women, just the women in your district . Well, its mixed review. I know that kevin brady who was chairman of ways and means, now the ranker, mentioned that what the democrats proposed, great to take away salt to help the wealthy people but youre going to hurt the Small Business community with their bill. No hormones, all organic . Not necessarily organic. If half of americans ate a single more serving of fruits or vegetables a day it would prevent 20,000 cases of cancer a year. Pesticides, the added burden would cause 10 cancer cas cases. This gives us the sense of the tremendous benefit of fruits and vegetables versus the tiny bump in risk. Choose organic, thats great. We should never let fear of pesticides prevent us from stuffing our face with as many fruits and vegetables as possible. Maria it doesnt matter how much you exercise, youre not able to reverse the impact of poor eating, is that right . You cant outrun a bad diet. A typical moderately obese person, moderately intensely exercising, could go through 30r something. Exercising. Whereas typical kind of processed snack foods are consumed at about 70 calories per minute so. If a few minutes you can wipe out an hour of exercise. We have most control over the calories inside the equation versus calories out. Maria we know this stuff. But for some reason we dont all practice it regularly. This is really good advice, dr. Kevin you saw the new star wars movie let me kick off with you and you thought i mean for me personally i love it because it was a return of the nostalgia feeling for me i love that feeling of being become at the movies with a large audience and everyone kind of having a fun time. And one of the fascinating things about this movie is divide between critic and audience. If you look at Rotten Tomatoes right now the score is 57 with less than 400 critic abouts over 86 with over 36,000 verify audience reviews so for me one thing im noticing here is if you love the last jedi episode 8 you didnt love this film and other way around i wasnt a fan of episode 8 but i love 9 because it return to what j. Did for episode 7 so a film that worked in that regard but ive never seen fan comedom over a de over a massive property so an interesting couple of days sin this movie came out on friday this week. I have to say i agree with kevin theres a big divide between critics and audience member theaters that i saw it audience cheering, laughing they were classifying at the end. But what i will say is this is truly only a problem that disney can have when were saying box office slump and made worldwide, just Opening Weekend. But the reason why this is a disappointment is it is a low opening. The past two in the recent trilogy made a lot more. The force awakens in 2015, made about 70 million more than this Opening Weekend and last jedi made 40 million. What it does is raise questions of disneys future on the big screen. On streaming, of course, disney has dominated the box office this year. It is this star wars can be the the 7th billion dollar movie if it hit the billion mark which it will. The number three films are something you cant look past as elizabeth mention you have 24 l million for force awake wakens and down to 175 estimated for rise of the of sky walker i think that speaks to idea of being fatigue with star wars. I think star wars up until the mandalorian was kind of in a weird spot. I mean solo did not do extremely well review for that film werent extremely well as well, and i think that whats happening is were having too much star wars so question to you about the idea of streaming effecting this. I think it is more of just the idea of being pa teeing in star wars in general mandalorian is is doing well but avengers did well because it was a movie audience wanted to see so depends on kind of what fatigue is there so i think star wars is too fatigue at this moment. Other question here is it is almost 370 Million Dollar with global. So a big pull here is outside the u. S. But you know whats interesting is china was only 12 million and two week ago there was a story about china putting the doors closed on foreign and thats where the avengers and other sagas do tremendous. So can you be successful in the business to get these billion dollar plus revenue if china is going to be more in the background . Right well you know china was the only territory that star wars did not open at number one and this has actually on trend with other Star Wars Film they have not performed well in china eat. But i have to say i actually do agree with disagree with kevin because i dont think theres star wars fatigue i think when you have reviews that are this lukewarm and this mixed and you stull have 175 Million Dollars just domestically i think that proves that star wars fans come out to theaters for anything inept to see it but maria to answer your question that you pose before about the future of disney and streaming and we have tvs that are movie quality. You know this is whats interesting with disney mous they, of course, ended deal with netflix so as of 2016, all of the disney movie were with on netflix as of 2017 they pulled out of that deal it as of 2019 all of those films are now going to be exclusive to disney plus. Theres still no launch date for the rise of sky walker, but it will likely be about six months from now that gives them a lot of time to perform well in the box office. I was saying to to my husband theresing nothing on any of the movie channel right now. They are just and iming thinking to why are they not showing good movie reason is theyve steered all of the good stuff to streaming so you pay extra. You know all of the channelses that ive already paid for on my cable bundle or whatever what i have. Nothing is on. It has because they put it towards streaming so you pay up for it. I think star wars to talk about it as a flop or failure is really tough because from an investment stand point for disney it has been a great investment for them and investment that will keep giving with merchandise and with theme park. But its similar to the avengers or superhero movies they have with the fact that were talking about it and well be talking about next one and next one after that.
