Pulled off in germany. But first, a possible thanksgiving truce on trade. The two deals on the table are moving closer to resolutions. As you can see the markets are happy. President trump saying the u. S. Is in the final throes of reaching a trade deal with china, while mexico says Speaker Pelosi will hold a usmca vote between thanksgiving and the end of november. Edward lawrence has the very latest on the tray front to capitol hill. Sounds likes mexico knows more about this than we do. Reporter david, not a vote. She says she will get the agreement between thanksgiving and the end of november but House Speaker nancy pelosi clearly feeling the pressure. She did release this statement now saying that, quote, we are within range of a substantially improved agreement for americas workers. Now we need to see progress in writing from u. S. Trade representative for final review, using the words, final review there. Mexicos chief negotiator was told by the House Speaker he says, that she should have a completed agreement from the trade representative sometime between thanksgiving and the end of november, which is as we know, sunday. Part of the letter, the mexican president sent to the House Speaker. I want to read one sentence out of that letter. This says this. In good faith with no intention of interfering, asking that the passage of the trade agreement not be postponed or delayed. Mexican president says that his country has fulfilled the commitment under usmca. He would like to see that agreement go forward as quickly as possible. Treasury secretary spokesperson holding Nancy Pelosis feet to the fire. Listen. I have a very Good Relationship as you know with president xi. Were in the final throes of a very democrats in congress have not brought this to a vote when even as of yesterday the mexican president is calling on Speaker Pelosi and democrats to bring this to a vote and get it passed. Reporter on china, the u. S. Trade representative sources in the u. S. Trade representatives office, treasury department, say a phone call between the primary levels of the trade team happened this morning. Heres the president on that call and what is happening with china. Listen. I have a very Good Relationship as you know with president xi. Were in the final throes after very important deal. You can say one of the most important deals in trade ever. It is going very well. Reporter Chinese Commerce ministry out of the phone call says this, the two decides decided how to resolve each others core concerns and added, reached a consensus how to resolve related issues. China says those core concerns again are being addressed. This is inching closer seems to a deal with china. So usmca moving closer and china moving closer as we get to the end of the year. David as positive the markets are, they are still a little cautious. If they were convinced end of the year you would see a 200, 300 point gain. Thank you, edward. Trade optimism this week as you can hear but is the ongoing battle hurting us and the connie in the long run . Former Federal Reserve chair Alan Greenspan telling fox business tariffs are hurting Economic Activity no doubt. By the fact that there is ever increasing expectation that the issue of tariffs and the tariff wars are going to get resolved because, there is no question that the type of tariff structure that we have had and the customs that are flowing in, has been a significant deterrent to Economic Activity. David to Money Map Press chief investment strategist Keith Fitzgerald how investors are reacting. Thanks for being here. We should mention greenspan is telling investors to run for cover for about a year now. He does think the market is frothy perhaps overdone but what do you think about what he said . Well i got to tell you, you know i think you have got to take greenspan with a huge grain of salt. He was wrong about a lot of things. He missed some things with stimulus. I think he has been off base the entire time. So his fed played a significant role in the financial crisis. Everything that happened since. I look at his comments, yeah, classic economic theory. He has every right to be concerned. What you talk about what traders are doing, profits theyre pursuing the economic reality were dealing with, it is logical this market is powered up. It has potential to power up. David i understand benefits of tree trade, ive been a free trade trader my whole life but i understand clearly now before trump was president how much damage china has done particularly to the u. S. Economy and the theft of intellectual property and a whole host of things. Were dealing with it now. Seems like the economy is able to absorb pain from that dealing . Well isnt that the cool thing about capitalism, right . We talk about markets being a forwardlooking mechanism this is Proof Positive that is the case. Traders, investors, the like looking beyond the trade tariffs looking what happens next. They realize china will come back to the global stage and come back with integrity and honesty at some point in time whether this agreement or partial agreement remains to be seen. David appears the chinese economy suffered so much as a result of what happened over next couple years. They are anxious for a some kind of deal. Wont be a phase one. Something on the board. How will the market react if that happens, quickly . I think it will be a rip your face off rally if china comes to the table with honesty, integrity were looking for. A cash based economy. A lot of data they cant account for. All appearances to your point, it hit them hard. David Keith Fitzgerald, great to see you. Appreciate it. Signs were closer to usmca deal. To real clear politics associate editor a. B. Stoddard. Thank you for being here. Speaker pelosi has been saying positive things about usmca over past couple days. Is she serious about this . Or is this just a stall before the election . Oh, no. Democrats and republicans have been on the table, at the table on this issue in good faith for a very long time. It has been very quiet, which is a sign in this town that they are good faith negotiations and progress is being made. There was a foal towards end of november, sounds like theyre sticking to that. Mr. Lighthizer and key negotiators at the table have, as i said have not been critical. Trump has thrown around stuff on tweets about the do nothing democrats but this has been an ernest effort and im very sort of bullish this will come together by the end of the year. The only thing that threatens it is the idea of a spending bill breaking open into some kind of a fight, creating some kind of a shutdown brink. That by december 20th is a factor. Theyre trying to come together behind the scenes on those numbers but usmca has been chugging along and she intends to pass it. David thats great news but is there pressure on her from democrats fear if the economy, if we get the pop a lot of people both think in the stock market and more importantly in the economy itself with more jobs, et cetera, that might be good for trumps reelection . Well, theyre always going to be democrats on the leftwing of the party who you know, want to punish the president but i think Speaker Pelosi made it clear all along she intends with her new majority in the house to get something done by the end of the election. She sent many, many, many bills to the senate. She knows they will never leave the senate. They will never become law but this is something that they want to do to show that they were at the table on the intended to do stuff they said they would during the election. She is also, i think, many republicans, really afraid of the idea of President Trump actually blowing up the original nafta. I think that she wants of course to get movement on these labor and Environmental Standards and those things are important to a lot of democrats. She will fight for them but i think all along she intended like i said in good faith to try to get this over the finish line. David you hinted at this, democrats do need something when they go to the polls in november. They need to bring something. Look were not a donothing congress. Yes we can impeach and do significant things for the economy at the same time, right . Right. You know the big hope of course, david was drug pricing. Very bipartisan. The president heralded one of his big priorities. He is trying to do stuff by executive order. I dont know if it will help every state across the board. There will be potential legal challenge, a lot of criticism unfortunately drug pricing negotiations in congress have fallen to fights that are intraparty fights. More conservative republicans and main line republicans and more progressive or left democrats with the established democrats. That sort of bogging that down, that is really upsetting because its a top priority for most americans across the board and both parties said it was priority this year. David i have to quickly ask you about the impeachment itself. There are suggestions from some polls that in fact the americans didnt like what they saw with adam schiffs inquiry last week. And more americans now are against the idea of the president being removed by impeachment. Do you think democrats are concerned about these polls . Is there any chance that pelosi would pull impeachment before it goes to the Judiciary Committee . I think that well no more after we speak with the constituents and engage reaction from voters over thanksgiving. I dont think we know that today. All along nancy pelosi likely this would be politically unpopular. Why she didnt want to do it. She always knew that the president would never be convicted by a senate in a trial. She sort of said, what is the point. After the ukraine matter, they decided as a body it was their constitutionally mandated responsibility as separate coequal branch to sanction a president for this kind of conduct, abuse of power, violation of his oath, potentially attempted bribery, with bribery an attempt is the crime. You dont complete it, just succeed it, just ask and demand is a crime. They know that in swing states the polls havent moved that much. They didnt expect it to go, to become david some have. They have, i dont know that they will change their path but i think theyre trying to get rid of it as soon as possible. David ab, when you see a moderate like will hurd say that this doesnt, there is not proof of bribery here or extortion, that shows that it is going to be completely a partisan issue. I dont think voters like the idea of impeaching a president with a purely partisan vote. It has never happened in american history. Right. And i think that she knew that going into this. And thats why she waited for a while and she wasnt, she wasnt game to do this. I think that they felt they knew this would be politically unpopular. They proceeded to do it anyway. David a. B. Stoddard, if youre not reading real clear politics, real clear markets, all of the real clear products youre not getting a full sense what is happening in the news. Great stuff. David positive talk on china means good news for the market. All three indices just hit session highs. They have come off it just a bit during, i said vacation, during the interlude between segments here. But positive word from the president on china talks led to a little push by the markets and again, we are into record territory right now, just off a little bit but very close there. Meanwhile alibaba debuting on the hong kong stock exchange, tech and online retailers still going strong. Appears so. Susan li here with the very latest. Susan. Largest Chinese Company on the planet. I would call this successful debut for alibaba reaping 11 billion in hong kong. They could take that up to 13 billion. The stock shot up as much as 8 before selling at 6 1 2 . More importantly for alibaba, this shores up confidence in the city and market of hong kong which has been battered now by six months of ongoing protests. In fact alibaba had to pull the initial share sale back in august because of ongoing turmoil but decided to list before the end of this year. Now here is look at the listing ceremony at the hong kong exchange. Executive vicechair joe tsai in attendance. Noticeably absent was jack ma the founder of behemoth. This was part of jack mas dream, list shares closer to home where people understand the business better. I asked alibaba about cornerstone investors who are the big ones buying . They wouldnt tell me who. Some of the big ones you can imagine were part of this. Also hong kong, talk about the shoring of hong kong, also the confidence in the chinese consumer. Alibaba raising 11 to 13 billion in this listing. It takes their cash pile up to 43 billion which they say they will reinvest back into the business. They came off one of the most successful. One of the most successful shopping events on the planet. In just 24 hours they sold 38 billion worth of goods on singles day. This helps rally alibaba shares which outperformed over the past month in new york. Dont forget they had the record breaking listing back in 2014. Alibaba shares actually outperformed likes of apple, amazon, alphabet and facebook. People do see signs, shopping, regarding of slowing growth in china does continue with the help of the chinese consumer. David . David amazing with one and a third billion people you can still have a bad economy and record sales like that. Susan, great stuff. Thank you very much. All this is happening as best buys stock surging after beating its earnings expectations and raising forecasts ahead of the holidays. To bank rate senior economic analyst mark hamrick, how reliant the economy is on consumer strength. Mark, a lot people were counting it out as well as lot of other retailers. What do you make of the renaissance of best buy . That is something years in the making david. There is still value wading into the brickandmortar development because we want to see things that we want to buy. Were still, you know, were still having animal aspect to our brain, we like to go out to have sensory experiences. To the extent that reflects the turn around effort of best buy, kudos to the management. Obviously consumers are paying attention. David absolutely they are. Lets talk about whats happening with the Holiday Season because expectations are very strong here. That well have a very big season so far. They say, at least 4 gain over last years sales. Which werent bad at all. What do you think . Well, i think thats a reasonable expectation. National Retail Federation obviously has a long track record in making predictions. Let me make a differentiation, david, between what the overall level of sales may be, and what consumers are going to do. We complete ad survey of bank rate that found 52 of consumers plan to spend about the same this year as last. Only 13 plan to spend more. From our personal financial perspective we say, were glad that people are focused on paying down debt and on saving money. Obviously Retail Establishment want people to go out and spend like there is no tomorrow. David retailers are doing all they can to expand. They seem always to be expanding every year a little more the Holiday Season. Whether it is black friday being more than just one day. In fact black friday already started last weekend. Whatever it is. So will the expansion of the Holiday Season help retailers beat those records . I think consumers are smart enough to know that just because there are six fewer shopping days in the holiday period between thanks giving and christmas this year, they still have business they need to get done. Why 40 of consumers started shopping before november 1st. Retail is so promotional these days. People, there is the part where people are turned off by the fact it seems like the Christmas Decorations go up after the 4th of july. David right. The other part it is so promotional you can buy sales when prices are low. David mark hamrick, bank rate, thanks for being here my friend. Appreciate it. A bloomberg backlash. Put your employees on a path to Financial Wellness with prudential. David journalists at bloomberg are slamming their billionaire boss over a ban on covering Michael Bloomberg and investigating democratic candidates. Charlie gasparino who broke the story wide open for us yesterday. Here is the very latest. Actually over the weekend. He will get it from all sides. I actually think he will have to sell the company. That is the word inside because the bottom line, these rules are unworkable. They are just going to do straight coverage on everybody but trump and attack trump. You know david but now his own union is against him on this. Theyre against it, not that they have that much power internally there. I think public pressure will con down on him. Public pressure coming down in a lot of ways. Not just journalists or bad coverage from editorial pages, left and right, you cant have a dosh standard on reporting if you do it on trump you have to do it on everybody else. This is coming from the dnc. The late entry into the race has rankled dnc leadership, tom perez. They will not publicly saying anything, privately from what i understand they are somewhere between seething and annoyed or annoyed or seething. They believe they had to begin of a field to begin with. They would like to whittle it down. There are moderates in the race. He adds another dimension after billionaire democrat which, annoys maybe everybody including progressives. That he might buy the whole thing. On top of that, this is where they think he has got his achilles heel which will hurt him i understand. They think his path to the nomination is so narrow, particularly because he does not have deep support among africanamericans. Right. The progressive white left, the woke white left, they control twitter, theyre very big on talk shows. They control the, you know the latenight comedy, right . Latenight talk shows, the heart and soul of Democratic Party are africanamericans. They are much more moderate than the woke white left. Theyre conservative relynn usually. David conservative made his apology for stopandfrisk by was the policing policy in new york that upset so many africanamericans but that didnt do it . Im talking to africanamericans who are connected with the party. They thought that was a disingenuous apology. David that is what the New York Times said editorialize. I didnt read that. Listen he ran on that for years. You know, listen, the problem, you know, for him is not just stopandfrisk. It is like not having deep connections within that community. Joe biden does. Okay. Whether you like him as a candidate or not he does. You know this is the type of grousing were hearing coming out of the leadership. No support from africanamericans. This whole thing with the journalists is very messy the way theyre trying to unwind it. David the guild, the union that is in bloombergs said not only should we be allowed, but encouraged to cover all candidates. So thats what they said. That is common sense. I cant believe mike doesnt want that, you know what im saying . It doesnt make sense knowing him. David might they change the policy on this. I think they will change it immediately or he will sell it, put it in a blind trust and change it. There is no, listen, if he is really serious about running for president. You cant have a News Organization with your name on it only covers donald trump and beats the hell out of donald. It doesnt make any sense. So, i think theyre either going to change it in the next coming days, or he will work out some deal he puts it in a blind trust therefore it is changed or not, potentially sell it. By the way a sale of bloomberg, i dont know if you can extricate the news out of it. The news is so good. People say it doesnt make money. Im telling you, it is so value added for wall street professionals. There are really good reporters there, they cover every beat. To extricate out of the data, it is part of the data. You might have to sell the whole thing. Who will pay that much money . David how much would it cost just the News Division alone, if they could extricate it from the rest . I think the whole thing is probably worth 30 to 50 billion, right . 20 i dont know but it is in that multiple billion, tens of billions. You probably need a private equity firm to put up the money because i dont think we have the currency to buy it, to be honest with you. We got done, think of logical media players. Would fox buy it . David apple has deep pockets. Apple could do it but do they want to get into that business . Amazon could go do it but do they want to get into that business . Will antitrust regulators awe how them to get into the business. The big news is the journalism coverage and the d in. C from what i understand between rankled which is kind of highly annoyed and really pissed off. David we got to go, charlie, thank you very much. Appreciate it. Strong winds may affect floats at macys thanksgiving day. That would be awful. Fox news meteorologist adam klotz on what to expect. Big change of weather, right . Big change in weather as we talk about thanksgiving. Couple systems coming around. One is firing up. This is portions of colorado running into the portions of the plains. This is an area we Pay Attention to next couple days. Winter storm warnings, blizzard storm warnings. A large blizzard, at least six inches of know. There are areas where you get up to foot, foot 1 2 snow. This will be a big snowmaker for this portion of the country. This is future radar. This is running upper midwest. Out in front temperature is warmer. Maybe even severe thunderstorms as it sweeps across this area. Isolated tornadoes even possible. That is big dramatic shift in the weather. As the entire system lifts to the north. A Second System firing up in the west. This one lifting into middle of the country. There are rounds potentially Severe Weather over course of upcoming week. Anytime you talk about that, thanksgiving that could be slowing down travel. Weather travel delays for denver area major delays because the system is currently firing up. As we watch the system moving across the country, you will see some delays pretty much off and on, following frontal boundary as it moves across the country. It eventually goes up to the east coast you could see a little bit of impact coming on the day on thursday. These are the wind speeds. Talk about macys day parade, you mentioned it, start to see winds, up to 23 miles an hour sustained wind. That will be enough to ground floats. These are the gusts getting up into the 30s potentially. That is something we Pay Attention to. 23 milesanhour sustained winds. That is enough to ground the floats. Well be in that range. That will be a game time decision. David macys parade without floats. Cant imagine. Doesnt seem the same. Adam, appreciate it. A Global Corporate tax is on the thanksgiving day table. Organization for Economic Cooperation andville meant, doesnt that sound shady, they are set to meet thursday in paris, where else, and friday to hash out a plan for a standard tax rate worldwide. Capitalist Pig Hedge Fund manager Jonathan Hoenig says this proposal is very destructive. Jonathan, global bureaucrats in charge of a worldwide tax structure what could possibly go wrong . A lot, david. If youre worried about globalism a loss of american sovereignty. This is oecd this group of developed countries. Theyre supposed to be promoting market economies. As you alluded to, this global minimum Corporate Tax would be tremendously destructive certainly the u. S. Economy. David we say this ad infinitum, corporations do not pay taxes. Taxes are paid by shareholders less dividends and employees who get less revenue, get less income. The idea we need to shakedown big Global Corporation as little more to get more money for government spending, this is what the big global governments and bureaucracies are all about and that is the latest example. David isnt this exactly why the brits voted for brexit . Because they didnt want these global socialists to control their domestic policy . David, what youre saying, global socialists. That is not an understatement. Who is pushing this . France. France is behind this theyre the ones advocating david let me stop you for a second, jonathan. France is a big place. There are a lot of people there. These organizations are like magnets. They tend to attract people that think that government is the solution for every problem. Yes. Its a big place. David, it has been ruled by socialists basically endlessly since the 1980s. It hasnt had unemployment below 9 since the 1980s. David true. Most obvious reason to oppose this global organizations do not have under the constitution the power to tax americans. Only the constitution has that power. So americans, whether you have a lot of money or a little money, whether you run a corporation or just go to corporations an use them, enjoy them, you should oppose this globalism of a National Sales tax. David we have to go. Dont you think Companies Like apple, for example, that have big market share in europe, even if they are successful instituting this tax would find a way of getting in there, eat up the costs of that and pass it on to consumers in the u. S. , however they balance their books . They would rather do that than leave europe entirely, right . David, i mean, unfortunately, apple is just a company but these governments have guns. Like to see leave i would like the u. S. Leave the eocd. Look talked about leaving nato. We left the Paris Climate Accord f President Trump wants to establish american sovereignty, maybe leaving this leftist organization is not a bad idea. David it hasnt happened yet. Theyre planning strategy for the future. It may not happen at all. Jonathan. Thank you. Be well. David Bernie Sanders talking baseball. Appreciate it. Bernie sanders is taking a swing at Major League Baseball if you can believe it. He is urging the league to abandon the plan to eliminate 42 Minor League Teams all over the country. Here is former Miami Marlins president dave sampson on all of this. Dave what do you make of this . Well i couldnt tell if the letter that Bernie Sanders wrote was written by larry david or actually by Bernie Sanders. I have that problem listening to him. Exactly. It had so much misinformation in it that i really dont know where to start. Not as though baseball is looking to eliminate 42 teams. This is about a negotiated agreement between Major League Baseball and minor League Baseball where right now their agreement will run out and there has to be a change because, the facilities in the Minor Leagues are not good enough. Accomodations are not good enough. The travel by bus is not sufficient. All of the things that actually matter to help develop major leaguers that has to be addressed. David you know, like a lot of Bernie Sanderss quote, solutions that he has for economic problems. There seems to be a superficial understanding of you know, it is millionaires against the working class. That is what this is all about. Without understanding the business of the operation, at all. Yeah. I just want to clarify, two big mistakes he made. Number one, there is no conversation about ending baseball in these communities. The only time baseball leaves the community is when a minor league owner chooses to relocate because he is looking for a new facility or new revenue or increased appreciation of his asset. If these teams become unaffiliated with major league teams, there will be a proposal that they will become part of other leagues. The second very important point, david, he brought into question the antitrust exemption. Well, bernie, what you didnt understand, that antitrust exemption is the only reason why minor League Baseball actually exists because without it, Major League Baseball teams would be able to affiliate with anyone they wanted to but now they have to affiliate with Minor Leagues. David he is focusing on people like you, saying you know, it is these rich people against the working class. They want to do anything necessary to make more anyone any, put more money in their pocket, even if it means sending people out of the ballpark, whether players themselves or hot dog vendors. What do you say to that . I say, bernie the fact is minor League Baseball is so highly attended it will continue to be highly attended but we have to develop players to get to the major league level. I keep saying we, it is they, they have to develop players to get to the major league level. To do it we need right facilities, right working conditions. Whichever communities can do that, i hope all that do it now. That is to the benefit of everybody including fans. David dave, quickly, i got to ask you something about the specific team. Houston astros. They have been accused of sign stealing. That is they have a mechanism, they have very close up camera looking at catchers lips, telling the pitcher what kind of pitch. They have a signal. They bang on a trashcan, to give a signal to the batter what kind of pitch is coming. The mlb is investigating. What do you think about it . Well there will be a full investigation but the bottom line is sign stealing has been going on forever. If the Houston Astros gone above and beyond what the rules are in Major League Baseball. They will get fined. There will be the substantial wrath of the commissioner brought down upon them. What really has to happen, is better communication between the catcher and pitcher. If you dont want your signs stolen, get better signs. Get a technology which is being developed which means the catcher than just talk to the pitcher or can come from the dugout. In terms of what the astros did, every team is trying to steal signs. I spent 18 years trying to steal signs. There you go. What does that mean . That means this segment is just about over. David dave, youre great. Terrific to see you again, dave. Thank you very much. Appreciate it. Over a billion dollars worth of jewels stolen from a german palace making it the largest heist in history. Weve got more after this. Oh, ho oh, ho, ho, ho you. You got me. Uh, what do you want . Ive got uh, ai robots, ive got vr goggles. I want your sled, please. No. [ chuckles ] timmy. Itd be a shame if this went viral. For those who never compromise. The mercedesbenz winter event. Whoa. Behind every question is a story waiting to be discovered. This holiday, start the journey with a dna kit from ancestry. David the biggest jewelry heist ever hit germany yesterday with estimated one billion dollars worth of jewels stolen. That is twice as much as previous record. Were joined by a man once known as biggest jewel thief in america. He turned his life around. He is now a motivational speaker that works with police to keep people out of prison. He spent too much time in prison. Larry lawton. Great to see you, my friend. Thanks for being here. First of all, how do you think the thieves pulled it off . David, im glad to be here. I think these guys were wellplanned. Not only had a get away, a diversion, all the stuff it takes to pull off a heist like this. The mistakes were made on the museums part as well. So, when you get into this, there is going to be mistakes made and there is good professional criminals who did this. David seems they really cased the whole thing for a long time because they actually arranged a fire in nearby power plant that affected the alarm system in this place. How long do you think, by the way, what this is looking at, this is photo, if you cant see it, a guy is looking at a bunch of jewels in a glass case. That is some of what was stolen that added up to a billion dollars. How long do you think they planned this . Planned this at minimum for six months and ill tell you why. When i look at profile of people that do this, david, highly intelligent, highly social and how do you say it on tv, they have to have brass whatever you want to call. David yes. Heres why. They had to case it. When you case a place like this. You will not just case it by standing there going to the place once or twice. If it is not an inside job. It might be inside job. How did they know there wasnt bulletproof glass, unbreakable where the glass was broken with an axe . You only know that inside information, been there enough, talked to a curator, or somebody. What other security measures were lacking in that facility to let all these invaluable, i consider this one of the most, most valuable jewelry robberies, not just in money, david. It is almost equates to like somebody robbing the vatican and all the valuable david that is a question, larry. How do you sell the merchandise. You you have to break it up. A lot was attached to swords. A lot of priceless objects will be broken up and cutting up diamonds, right . Either that. They have to break it up. There are too many signature pieces. Or they could lay low with this, in six months a year, theyre going to have no questions asked. This museum would offer them 50 million, 100 million to get back the artifacts. No questions asked. They do that with art, big kind of items. David so they could get away with this . They can get away with it. It reminds me, so wellplanned it could be the pink panther gang which is wellknown in europe, going around where they do brazen robberies through malls, through motorcycles, through walls. They do it a lot of ways this is a pretty brazen robbery. It has the mo of the pink panther. David if you see up offers 100 million no questions asked, that will encourage more of this, wont isnt. Absolutely. The police and officials will never say that publicly but under the table, face it david, they want to get the artifacts back. These are priceless pieces heir looms, really have significant value, besides the actual number. The number of the diamonds is easily equated this is five carat diamond. This is dbs1, all that goes along with that that is the easy part. What is it really worth, when king henry viii wore it during the coronation . David larry, i have to wrap it. We have run out of time. Fascinating stuff. Thanks for being with us. Larry lawton appreciate it. Youre welcome, david. Have a great holiday. David you too. Stocks reaching a second day of records. Lets start with the great news it is another day of records on wall street as were seeing new signs that phase i with china and the u. S. Mca trade deals may be nearing the finish line. I know you heard that before, but weve got some new evidence that that is true. Well bring you details in a moment but first, while nothing on the impeachment front instead of stocks as far as we can tell, democrats are hoping former white House Counsel don mccan could be their smoking gun but the Justice Department is saying not so fast. Hillary vaughn is the very latest from capitol hill with more. Hi, hillary. Reporter former white House Counsel don mcgann is appealing a ruling that came down last night from the judge saying he does need to follow congress subpoena to show up and testify in front of house impeachment investigators disputing a white house claim along that current and former officials have absolute immunity from these subpoenas but the president has another list of people he actually wants to show up and testify including secretary of state mike pompeo, who today reacted to the president s suggestion on twitter that he would love pompeo to testify saying when the time is right, all good things will happen. But now, some swing district democrats are ditching calls for impeachment and pushing instead for a vote on censure. Were so close to an election, i will tell you through the year knowing how divided this country is i dont see the value of taking him out of office, but i do see the value of putting down a marker, saying his behavior is not acceptable. Reporter but congresswoman backtracking those comments issuing a statement later this morning saying she still stands by impeachment, but the congresswoman debbie lesko, who sits on the house Judiciary Committee says that the impeachment was a bad play for democrats from the start. Im not really sure that the democrats know what theyre going to do and maybe it will change from minute to minute depending on if they have the vote or if they think they will lose seats in swing districts. I know brenda pretty well and shes a common sense woman so maybe shes seen the polling and sees this is not a good move for the democrats. Reporter so if the house Judiciary Committee does follow through and draft these articles of impeachment, david, congresswoman lesko says they are expecting to vote on those by december 20. David . David hillary, thank you very much. Meanwhile, President Trump pushing for a vote on u. S. Mca, and he may get one. Our own Edward Lawrence is reporting in mexicos chief negotiator saying he was told by Speaker Pelosi and agreement with the trump adminitration should be reached some time between thanksgiving and the end of november. The house ways and Means Committee member jodie herring ton on what he believes but id like to believe its true but its like the impeachment inquiry. Im told that he told that she told theres too much intermediary. We want just the facts and we want to deal. Absolutely, because this is going to create 170,000 new jobs for the American People, 70 billion in Economic Growth this is good for auto workers and good for farmers in west texas and its good all the way around for this great country of ours and meanwhile, nancy pelosi seems to still want to play politics with it. I dont understand it. The president of mexico is calling for her to make action. Theyve already ratified it. They passed laws to implement it they passed a budget to ensure enforcement of labor provisions which is one of the issues the democrats had. David let me be specific here, congressman. Do you believe nancy pelosi when she says she wants a deal done before the election . Well shes waffled on that number one, number two, she says she wants to prove that she can walk and chew gum but i havent even seen her crawl and make any progress. Theyve done nothing for the American People. Zero legislation, zero reforms, anything of note, drug pricing i could go through a list of it including trade deals like u. S. Mca, so i hope she changes her mind and that she fasttrack s this u. S. Mca. I think her moderate democrats are very anxious. Theyre back in the districts right now and im sure theyre getting all kinds of grief for not having done anything thats going to help the American People, but david are you saying, congressman, just to put a fine point on it, that she cares more about hurting donald trump and denying him a victory that might help the stock market even more and the economy even more than she does about helping americans absolutely. Look, just like this phony impeachment process, its purely political and Nancy Pelosis decision on u. S. Mca is a purely political calculation as to whether or not donald trump is going to get credit and whether she can claim some credit, and i think ultimately though, her more moderate democrats are going to prevail on her to do something. David but shes a very smart woman. She knows thats one reason that she was so reluctant to go down this impeachment route to begin with. She knows that she has to bring that other democrats particularly from red states have to bring something to the voters that they have accomplished during this congress. Doesnt she have that, dont they have to have Something Like the u. S. Mca to present the voters in november . Absolutely. They have achieved nothing of note after a year of having the gavel and this one is teed up and again its good for a number of constituencies. We have the votes. Theres unanimous support on both sides of the aisle, and i agree with you. This would be something where her moderate democrats could claim that theyve been able to achieve something for the American People instead of all of this political impeachment stuff. David i hope final note on impeachment. We really have to run, but do you think that there will be any republican at all in congress that will vote to move this thing to impeachment . I do not believe there will be, no. David so it will be entirely partisan . I think it will be, well i think youll see some democrats peel off, but for the most part it will be a partisan impeachment play and then who knows what the senate is going to do but i hope the senate takes it up and does the right thing and brings the facts and sets the record straight for the American People, and doesnt leave the narrative as its been under this controlled show. David congressman thank you very much, i appreciate it. Meanwhile, trade for china and u. S. Speaking over the phone sparking new optimism of a deal this is we are seeing signs trade is hurting some nations very much. Well hong kong is not a nation, but it is hurting in fact its in a deep recession. The exports plunging for the 12th straight month in october. Imports going down by even more, to Brandywine Global Portfolio Manager jack mcintyre. Im wondering if hong kong can pull out of this at all . They are in a tough spot right now and the question i think this is more than just trade related. Youve got to bring in sort of the political influences as well david of course. But certainly a step forward would be some progress on u. S. China trade because it would certainly help Global Growth and that would go a long way towards helping the people of hong kong. David well you had an election in which the chinese actually allowed the voters opinions to be heard and voters came out in favor of the protesters against mainland china. Do you think this might soothe things so perhaps hong kong could pickup speed and get back to where they were . So it actually, i think it probably clouds the situation first. I mean its a great idea to think that theyre going to go towards universal sufferage, but bottom line china isnt going to let them do that and beijing has all of the power right now so it looks good on paper but im not sure they will be successful in moving that ball forward. David well how much is all this going to effect china itself, because i understand, i mean there is some positive things in china, alibaba just had a successful showing in hong kong and there are some positive moves. Its a huge country with a country of population that size, youre going to have progress on the retail front, but wont all of this, isnt that why chinas anxious for a deal, because they really are hurting now as a result of their repression . Yeah, youre absolutely right. So china is in a kind of a unique situation, because when they do stimulus, fiscal, monetary they get growth but take on too much debt, and then the members in power get word about that and they start to pullback on stimulus and they slow down so weve seen china in these short growth cycles trying to break out of that doing more stimulus but they are slowing down feeling pressure from a contraction and global trade. They are an open economy. The consumption is becoming a bigger influence but they arent immune to that, so they are feeling stressed just like i think the u. S. Is certainly trump is, and both parties need to reach a deal pretty soon. David but donald trump lives in a democracy, unfortunately, the Chinese People do not, and im just wondering though if the powers of business in china have grown to the point where they could somehow push back on the totalitarian instincts if you will of the people running. Doesnt look like it now. They are back to the old red book and they are go being in absolutely the opposite direction of democracy but could that turnaround if things get really worse than they have been for the chinese economy . Yeah, its a great question, because we know that president xi loves control. Hes moved more towards having more control since hes been appointed, but on some level, he likes stability. To get stability, to keep the people content, you need Economic Growth, so to me, you dont have to make assumptions as an investor in this world of how trade is going to get resolved and i think china is getting motivated to reach a deal because they do need Economic Growth and part of that Economic Growth is getting some type of resolution with u. S. China trade. David absolutely, jack mcintyr e, great to see you my friend, thanks a lot for being here. Well Michael Bloomberg now being accused of trying to buy the 2020 election so is this a signal that some of his competitors might be getting scared of a run by the former mayor . Well talk about that, coming up introducing the Marilyn Monroe collection of fine jewellery. Exclusively at zales, the diamonds are a girls best friend store. Here, it all starts withello hi . Zales, how can i help . A data plan for everyone. Everyone . Everyone. Lets send to everyone wifi up there . Uhh. Sure, why not . Howd he get out . a camera might figure it out. That was easy glad i could help. At xfinity, were here to make life simple. Easy. Awesome. So come ask, shop, discover at your local xfinity store today. Michael bloomberg is making a bet about democracy in 2020. He doesnt need people. He only needs bags and bags of money. Mr. Bloomberg is going to succeed because at the end of the day, people of this country do not want to see a billionaire buy an election. David Michael Bloombergs billionaire wealth in focus as the former mayor formerly enters the race to Michael Bloomberg po lster, one of the Better Things thats happened to him is he took you on board. How do you answer those charges . The progressives and the Democratic Party weve talked about for a long time now have a lot of energy in the party. Does he answer that directly and if so, how . Well i think his answer is hes not beholden to anyone. No special interest, no contributors, nobody, and his point would be i do things on the merits, it earned this money fair and square, and im spending my money to get my message across my way. I think its a pretty good answer. David do you think it would satisfy the left, or would they continue to no it wouldnt satisfy the left and id make a more general point that weve discussed before. If the left and the moderates cant unite the democrats are weakened and probably dont win the 2020 election. I much prefer victory and compromise to intolerance. David but if in fact the democratic nominee happens to be Michael Bloomberg and the left walks away i dont know what percent of the party they represent, say its a third of the party can he beat donald trump without that third of the party . Well it would be obviously more difficult but he also can pick up moderate republicans who i think have had problems with donald trump. So look, i think ultimately the desire to beat President Trump is Strong Enough that if somebody like Michael Bloomberg is nominated hell be a very strong candidate. David what about the black vote . He tried to make amends for their biggest concern about what he did when he was mayor to stop policy and he used to defend that as being part of his successful anticrime strategy. He apologized for it recently, not only the black community but the New York Times itself didnt buy that apology. Is there any chance he can get any part of the black community . He got 40 in his, one of his runs i think in his second run for reelection, 25 in his first and third, so yeah, i think there is. He certainly is running on an agenda that involves reform of healthcare, climate change, job creation, enhanced educational services, so on an ideological and record basis, hes well qualified and i think he will. David what about his own company . Weve been talking about that here at fox business. The fact is that the union, the guild as they are called that works for bloomberg is not at all happy about his policy that hes going to put forward which would essentially eliminate any investigation of either him or any other democrat running but continue investigations into Donald Trumps candidacy. Right and my take on that is its much to do about nothing. It is a policy of fairness and equity for all democrats and i think hes also said that come the general election if he would be the nominee or another candidate they will be investigations of the democrats and the republicans with equal vigor. David so that policy would only last up until the nomination . Thats correct. David and then it would end . Good stuff, please stay in touch always my pleasure. David good to see you my friend thanks. Well Ridesharing Services getting slapped with a new tax in one city. How much more customers will have to pay for a lyft, details coming up. What youre made of, were made for. Usaa david the state department has collected mounds of evidence showing iranian abuses of street protesters our own Benjamin Hall has details. Benjamin . Reporter the protests really are starting to shake iran and the government doesnt seem to have a full grip and they dont seem to be getting any smaller and combined with the crippling economic sanctions of the u. S. That have put on them really means that iran feels backed into a corner at the moment. As a result now there is a great fear that the country might lash out, that they might feel they need to make a bigger move, to get sanctions revoked, to try and force the u. S. To the negotiating table and today we saw the head of irans powerful revolutionary guard blaming the u. S. For the riots and saying that if they ever crossed irans red lines, iran would destroy them. These antigovernment protests have been taking place in more than 170 towns now, to more than two weeks. Estimates of the number killed range from 140 to over 400, with up to 10,000 arrested. It is difficult to know the exact numbers, because the government shut down the internet and much of it is not yet back and in support of the protesters, secretary pompeo spoke today. To the courageous people of iran who refused to stay silent about 40 years of abuse by the regime i say simply this. The United States hears you, we support you and will continue to start with you in your struggle for your Brighter Future for your people and great nation. And protests are also spreading across the region in iraq and lebanon both countries where iran holds significant influence, protesters have sought to throw off the outside influence from iran and some are calling this iraqs arab spring. This has all started in iran because of a hike in gas prices and the regime knew it would cause protests but they had know choice. Their coffers are empty and they cannot provide basic services to the people on the streets and as a result weve seen the people rise up against them. Itll be interesting to see what the Iranian Regime can do other than crackdown to try and implicate them. David ben am jamie dimon in hall thank you very much. We appreciate it. David well if Winter Weather warnings arent enough to wreck your Holiday Travel, Airline Catering employees are set to picket nationwide. Grady trimbell is live at ohare with the latest. If its not one thing its the other. Reporter no major disruptions because of those picketers yet but this is one of the busiest airports in the country on one of the busiest travel days of the year. It got even busier because of those, we have video of them and they are subcontracted by the airlines and they are the ones who bring you your food and beverages on to the plane for you and they held up signs and chanted calling for better pay and better healthcare coverage. Listen. We deserve free healthcare, we deserve higher wages and were not getting either of them without us these companies would not be up and running. We are the bread and butter of these companies. We are what makes these companies goals and work every day. Reporter and they picketed at 17 major airports across the country today. You might have seen them if youre one of the nearly 32 Million People getting on a plane during this 12 day thanksgiving Holiday Travel season. 32 million, that would be a record it would also be up 3. 7 compared to the same time period last year. If you are traveling today you also mentioned Winter Weather david. Youre really going to have to Pay Attention to that because there are winter storm warnings from the west to the midwest as a storm makes its way across the country. Its already causing some 230 delays and more than 100 cancellations. Right now in chicago looking at the departures board, not so bad one of the areas thats hardest hit right now is denver where its been snowing and here its sunny but its going to rain this afternoon so the delays and cancellations might pick up then david . David lets hope things clear up before thanksgiving grady thank you very much. Lets focus on some good news and theres a lot of good news coming from retail heading into the Holiday Season. Gerri willis has the details. Gerri thats right, david hi. Shares of retailer best buy, theyre up over 12 after the Company Announced sales of stores open a year or more beat wall street expectations and the company says that trend will continue into the allimportant Holiday Quarter and theyve raised their Earnings Guidance by a relatively strong consumer. Other retailers posting robust Third Quarter earnings include dicks sporting goods, which today announced its strongest samestore sales in six years. Take a look at the shares here, up 19 . Meanwhile, target and walmart both predicted higher sales for the current quarter. The retail eps up about 5 for the quarter, as chinas strength heading into the Holiday Quarter a period that can account for as much as 40 of annual retail sales. David . David gerri thank you very much. And happy thanksgiving to you, gerri. With black friday just three days away, a new survey showing millions still working to pay off last years shopping debts, so will this debt hangover dampen all the cheer . To dan geltrude. Great to see you. So you can call it a hangover, or an overhang of debt from last year is this a problem . Of course it is look youre talking about 48 million americans havent paid off their debt from the last Holiday Season. Now most of that debt is going to be sitting on credit cards. Imagine how much interest these people are paying. It puts them in a position that theyre digging a hole so deep its going to be impossible to get out of going into this Holiday Season, so overspending equates to like overeating. Youre going to end up with a financial hangover. Its not a good place to be. David but it seems to be dragging on the Retail Stocks right now. Not at all. People, i guess some of these people are playing in the market so maybe they do have some extra cash this year, but no, retail is taking off, so the indication there is people are going to keep spending. David well and theyve done it in the past even if they dont have the money. Country financial just came out with a stab which is interesting 72 of americans, 72 of folks say they dont save up enough during the course of the year to pay off their gift giving and buying during the holidays. Thats a huge number. And that goes to people have trouble with financial discipline, because it starts, david, with establishing a budget. Not just for the holidays. You have to have a budget throughout the year that you really need to adhere to. If not, the problem is is that when youre budgeting for the year, the holidays end up at the end of the year, so if you havent budgeted properly, youre out of money. David well its okay now, as long as you have a job, with steady income, you can use some of that income as debt service if you will, thats what a lot of companies do, but a lot of individuals do that as well. The problem comes when we have hard times, and theyre going to happen. It may not happen, god willing it doesnt happen in the next year or so but we will have a recession. When that happens, people wont be able to pay on those debts and that means bankruptcy all around. Yes it does and weve seen this story before, havent we . So yes, when times are going to get tight, its going to be really tough and what i try to tell people is listen, stay away from the credit cards. Its really easy to get involved emotionally with your spending. Use cash or use a debit card so you dont end up spending money that you dont have. David of course because people do use credit cards, capital one is loving this. Capital one is primarily in the credit cards, is that maybe investors out there looking for some way to take advantage of this, buy into a company like capital one . Well youve got to look at if youre in that situation as a consumer, and you have credit card debt, you got to look at are there opportunities . David but im talking as investors. On the other side, sure, absolutely. Thats a good play right now. David by the way Country Financial says the top holiday gift for most of the people they surveyed, 49 said having one of their debts completely paid off would be the best gift they could get. I dont know how you put that under a Christmas Tree but there you go. Dan great to see you thank you very much appreciate it. Well tom cruise take note the latest on a massive jewel Heist Mission that did not prove to be impossible. Only one things more exciting than than getting a lexus. Giving one. A more secure diaper closure. There were babies involved. And they werent saying much. Thats what we do at 3m, we listen to people, even those who dont have a voice. We are people helping people. David German Police now looking for clues behind the biggest jewelry heist in history now larry lawton once known as the biggest jewel thief in america is now reformed. We should mention, telling me in the last hour, what he thinks of the heist. Listen. How do you think these thieves pulled it off . I think these guys were well planned. Not only did they have a getaway , a diversion, they had all the stuff that it takes to pull off a heist like this. Its good professional criminals who did this. David here with reaction, didnt mean good in the sense of good nature just very efficient. These guys knew what they were doing. In some ways this was very lowtech. We always assume everything is done cyber but with hard goods its a little harder to pull off so you and i were just talking before we came on, and its true presumably, they set a fire near by, for an electrical station which essentially left the area in darkness, and then it also knocked out the museum where all of these were kept, it knocked out its alarm system, but there was surveillance camera, david, going from another power source, so they do have video and i dont know how high quality it is but of two men and they say smashing a window, cutting through a fence, and then breaking this display cabinet in the jewel room and the German Police have said in a targeted manner, so what exactly was taken . Three priceless sets of diamonds including these brilliant cut stones which belonged to an 18th century collection, so this museum and this collection was founded by augustus of saxony, 1723 and david believe it or not this palace and collection has been a tourist attraction since 1724. David oh, my goodness. When you think about that . David yes by the way its in a beautiful setting. This room is extraordinary im sorry that i never saw it before the heist was made but one thing this guy larry says very interesting, he said maybe, because everybody is thinking well theyre cutting up these pieces right now. Its awful. David theyre refacetting the diamonds so they wont be recognized but this guy larry said maybe not. Maybe what they are doing is planning some kind of deal to sort of ransom it and you give us 100 million, no questions asked and youll find it. Because there are a lot of people who are saying theres nobody willing to put an exact number on it but people say this collection, what was stolen could be worth 1 billion but of course part of the value part of the worth is in the cultural significance, and there are so many art experts almost i would say pleading with the thieves via the press. In fact the woman the director of dresden state Art Collection is saying via the press, please do not break this collection into pieces, because the idea is if you meltdown the metals and you take out the diamonds, that the thieves probably in the open market could get i dont know, between 100 and 200 million, so that would be worth it, but to your point, there may be some strong negotiations. You have the regional representative, you have saxony s interior minister saying this is such a bitter day for the Cultural Heritage of this area and i think implying exactly as your contact told you , they very much would be willing to david of course if you pay it off there are other heists like this but another thing, you mentioned the fact that they were surveilled. We had some surveillance. That gives us a sense of the stature. Larry also said that the people who were responsible for this, very likely cased the joint very carefully. They knew exactly which window to go to. Yes. David you said it was a fence, they had to cut through iron wro ught steel . They had a plan. David so theres probably somebody who was suspicious of one of their questions at some point along the line. I imagine the police now are trying to talk to everybody they can about this. Yeah and the police did find a car that was burning early on monday, and they think, for now, that that was the getaway vehicle but in just one of these weird geographical niches. Unfortunately this museum is not that far from the autobon, so what they think happened is that the thieves took one car, burned it and somebody else picked them up near the autobon, but listen you can see that on our screens here, tons of roadblocks, police have certainly basically are locking down dresden, the entire area. Theres one silver lining, its very very slight but some of the pieces of this collection were actually on loan here in new york to the met, the metropolitan museum of art so theres one dresden Green Diamond thats not normally where it would have been. David whats incredible about dresden, they went through the firebombing as part of east germany and meanwhile they had this 1 billion collection of jewelry. What is a little bit sad is in the 70s it reopened really with full fanfare, because to your point it was leveled in world war ii, by us, quite frankly, and so it was just reopened and i think it was a feel good story for the city, from the 70s. David and we should mention the second greatest jewelry heist was half that amount, it was 500 million which is not chicken feed, but if they actually doubled the amount of money in this heist. Yeah. David incredible deirdre thank you very much. Meanwhile, alexandria ocasiocortez fighting back against critics who say shes just promising people free stuff listen. Second of all these are public goods. Theyre public goods. [applause] the term of free stuff, ever again. David to making money host Charles Payne, my friend, what do you make of this . Charles well its free stuff if you didnt pay for it, but [laughter] listen, everybody by the way, everyone loves free stuff, david theres no doubt about that, but this notion again and it harkens back i guess to that speech that Elizabeth Warren gave a few years ago, that propelled her to the National Stage of many speeches, the former president barack obama gave that anything that you have that youve earned yourself that a piece of it, a big chunk of it in fact belongs to the general public, its the publics domain because you drove on a road or you hired someone who went to a Public High School or whatever it is. They will make the connection back to the federal trough and therefore, you owe this and by the way, those who are on the receiving end of it, they are, its owed to them, so its an interesting, its a real interesting circle there, but what it does though is it just promotes an idea that you cant get this yourself, and all ive done is try to mitigate sort of, you know, there used to be an anxiety about these things and embarrassment about for instance things like food stamps. I can tell you right now ive got to believe every one of my building when i was growing up in harlem was on food stamps but when i was in the store id never let any of my neighbors see me spending food stamps and vice versa. If i was in line, id duck and go out the building. We all knew we were on it but we didnt want to see each other on them and i think theres something about that the idea of that maybe propelling you to get off of it. David uhhuh. Charles so when you take the stamps and make them into a credit card, when you start to say you know the freebies arent freebies, you takeaway that urge , that sort of internal desire to get off of it. David thats wonderful and again even ronald regan was for a safety net some people through no fault of their own who do fall into despair and sometimes need the help of others but you dont want that to turn into a dependency and even fdr, one of the founders of welfare in our society of Social Security was worried about that happening with welfare. Charles im proud as an american that we have these safety nets, that we do have Unemployment Insurance and food stamps that we do have these things to help our fellow citizens get on their feed again i think its an amazing source of pride for me. Ive benefited from it to a degree and i think many other people have and well be contributing great things to our country but you do people a dis service you mitigate and you erase their god given gifts and talents if you never let them evolve and nurture them. David you mentioned whatever it is. If everything is a public right, if everything is a right then, really, nothing is right. We saw that in the soviet union. The soviet constitution promises everything to everybody, and it ends up giving nothing to everybody. You know it ends up actually taking away human rights, so a lot of people dont understand that. Charles you know what else . Human nature kicks in i dont care what the political system is, so all of these things that may sound good on paper, socialism and communism theres always a handful who do so well, they horde all of the wealth and greed and sometimes i can see you coming out of college and this sounds good and this sounds fair but when you get older and you understand human nature, historically its happened over and over again, no matter what system you put in, if you allow for the top whatever percent to horde all the wealth and grief, it makes things worse and at least in this country we all got a shot, you know, to get our own david government cant guarantee, they can guarantee the pursuit of happiness but cant guarantee happiness itself , charles you make money the good old fashion way you earned it and well be seeing more of you and hearing more about your solutions to making money coming up at the top of the hour. David ladies and gentlemen, the tug of war over trucks is on [laughter] david tesla on the right, ford on the left, whose going to win . Holy cow. They accepted fords sort of challenge for a tug of war here and as you can see it looks like tesla won, but ford is crying foul. Well explain how, to fox News Headlines 24 7 anchor brett larson. We should mention, brett that ford is now complaining that even though that tesla truck had motors on every wheel, the ford truck did not. It was not all wheel drive. I say a rematch maybe ford should do it this time. Both parties should be present in any sort of contest like this david but tesla is getting a lot of preorders arent they . Over 200,000 last time we checked and despite the fact that when they rolled the thing literally drove the thing on to the stage when they announced it , and threw metal balls at the window they broke. Now, we should also mention, ela n musk came out after the fact sharing video of a rehearsal of this where they did the same thing and the windows didnt break and hes now saying when he hit the door with a sledgehammer glass is very sensitivity hit a part, blah blah blah and cracked. But i get the physics of it. David okay hes going to say a lot of things hes a great salesman and some people say it isnt but look hes doing great with the cars that he produces and these preorders are something although we should mention you only had to put down like 100 for the preorder. And you get it back. David and you can get it back. Now ford sells 1 million trucks every year. Thats how many they sold in 2018. Yes. David do you think that tesla could put a dent in that market share . The f150 is the most popular truck in america, so it is no surprise that ford sells that many. Im going to say in certain parts of the country in a certain demographic i could see people saying yes, im going to get this tesla. Are they not then going to buy an f150 . I dont think they are the same audience. I think the people who love their ford trucks are going to always buy a ford truck. David in other words the 200,000 preorders come from a lot of people who never owned a truck just like this modern thing. It looks good its electric better for the environment, although if you live in a state that has coal fired electricity its not really. David thats true. But i think itll do well. I definitely see you know were going to be cruising we see the teslas here in new york all the time which surprises me because david sometimes a rising tide lifts all boats and ford will continue to sell 1 million trucks and tesla will sell enough of those to be profitable meanwhile Seattles City Council just approving a new budget that hits riders with a 0. 57 tax for every uber and lyft ride im wondering if this really hurts uber and lyft. You know whats interesting is they talked about making that perride fee higher. They wanted it in about 1 to 1. 50 per ride but the fear was well that might prevent some people from getting requesting a ride. That might end up hurting the drivers. In this instance they are taking this 0. 57 already added to another fee they charge which is around 0. 21 so about 0. 75 a ride total that money, the city says, is going to go to invest in other transit projects that they have. They have a streetcar project apparently grossly over budget and also, shocker there, right . The public works project grossly over budget and they are also going to invest in affordable housing. Now when you take an uber or a lyft here in manhattan, or anywhere in new york city, half the bill is fees, paying for the subway. David lets talk about that because anybody in seattle that complains about a 0. 57 charge or whatever it is even if its 1 charge, come to new york city just stepping into a taxi in new york city, you not only have to pay what is it 2. 50 minimum. David for the entry charge but then a tax thats supposed to go to our mta, our bus and subway, we think it goes to a whole lot of other things. 3. 50. And it goes up to 4. 50 during rush hour. Im furious about this, because theres so much overspending by our City Government and they waste so much money. Well the problem with that is, especially when you look at the fees theyre charging to support the subway. Its kind of unfair, because if you were coming to me saying that you want to take a taxi were going to charge u2. 50 extra to offset the cost of the subway. Great well then make the subway not suck so much the subway in manhattan is the most disgusting. David its getting worse. And it is getting worse, so i get if you want to charge the fee but give me a viable alternative to it, which seattle seems to be saying they are going to do, connect their light rail systems, beef up their buses. If that really happens then youre charging a fare. David by the way chicago just approved a Traffic Congestion tax on Ride Hailing Services including uber and lyft and again where is that money going folks . Is it making your city safer . Is it making it more efficient, cheaper . Probably the answer to all of those questions is no, if you live in new york anyway. Are the roads paved better have you driven down ninth avenue lately . David great to see you my friend thank you very much. Coming up u. S. Home prices ris ing 3. 2 in september.
