This morning, National Securities corporation chief market strategist, art hogan is hill, liz peek is here and James Freeman. Great to he see everybody. Thank you to all of our veterans this morning and their families. Liz peek, you have people in your family. Our son is a veteran. Maria thank you so much. And thank you everybody. We want to give a big shoutout all day today to our great heroes of this country. Our top story this hour is violence erupting in hong kong over the weekend, the protests now in the sixth month. Police fired gunshots at protesters early this morning sending one man to the hospital and the emergency room for emergency surgery, another man in Critical Condition this morning after being set oven fire for confronting protesters who had been vandalizing a subway station. This story is not going away. I think this is also creating pressure for xijinping in china but when you see things turn this kind of violent you wonder what kind of impact it really will have. Its six months now. I think everyone assumed that some settlement would be reached. What happened is they kind of agreed to getting rid of the extra extradition law that caused this in the beginning but that is not the end of it. We have to ponder what happens. It seems very likely to me that china at some point is going to take a very aggressive posture to chuting this down. What shutting this down. What will the world do in response . I think its a big question. Maria hong kong was supposed to be this example of what china could be. Democracy and freedom and, you know, as a business person i dont know about you, but i used to look at hong kong differently than i look at hong kong today. I mean, for as long as i could remember, hong kong has represented to me a global hub of business. I dont see it that way anymore, art. How about you . I think the point you made at the beginning is the most important, at least as it has to do with us right now. In president xis mind can he evidence evidence ebbing ebbing effectively negotiate a u. S. China deal while he has this going on geopolitically. Its hard to know how much he can be pressed and stretched on this right now. Thats part of why its taken us so long to get to this phase one deal. Weve got other things going on. Maria it is a pressure then. It is part of the sort of talking points as we try to do a deal. I dont see it that way anymore. Not because of the protesters, james, but because of chinas thor tearan authoritarian rule. I always thought hong kong that could compete with london and new york. Because of chinas authoritarian rule and what it has done over the last six months i see it as an arm of china. You mention how years ago people kind of hoped that china would evolve to be more like hong kong. Maria exactly. I think a lot of this clash is, especially on the political end, china has not evolved that way. The people of hong kong are saying our model is better. We do not want to be forced to adopt the model on the mainland enforced by the Chinese Communist government and so i think to this point, hong kong really is by every measure a very free place, a very especially on economic terms to this point and i think thats why its thrived and thats why you see this determination of the people there, not to allow the beijing government to disrupt what is really a jewel of the world economy. Maria exactly. Meanwhile, the trade talks today, the update, President Trump is standing firm, making it clear that he will not settle for anything less than, quote, a great deal. Watch this. Theyre moving along. Theyve moved slowly, much too slowly for me. But they want to make the deal much more than i do. But the trade talks with china are moving along i think very nicely. We make the deal that we want, it will be a great deal. And if its not a great deal, i wont make it. But the trade deal is moving along and china wants to be there. Maria the president also said, he addressed something we talked about of last week, he said the reports that the tariffs will be lifted are, quote, inaccurate. Remember last week we were going back and forth because it was the Commerce Ministry of china that said oh, yeah, we agreed we would take all tariffs off the table if we were to get to phase one. Thats not what the the markets responded favorably. Because business woulds love to see the tariffs go away. I think they they jumped the shy were pushing the american negotiators into agreeing to this or into moving this forward by agreeing to it and i dont think that worked very well. Going back to hong kong, that is a really big impact, not just on their economy, which is now in recession, absolutely, but it also impacts china. Huge flow of money in and out of china for investment goes to hong kong and that is beginning to be impacted by that. Maria it sure is. We have to get to the alibaba singles day. That was big business, actually. First, lets take a turn and come back to the u. S. For the impeachment inquiry. We want to look at the capitol this morning where high stakes public hearings begin on wednesday of. President trump is expected to release the second transcript of his phone call with the ukraine president , hell release it tomorrow. Law makesers are demanding to hear from the whistleblower directly. Lindsey graham was with me yesterday on sunday morning futures on fox news. He said until that happens, until we actually see who the whistleblower is, he says impeachment is dead on arrival in the senate. Watch this. Its impossible to bring this case forward in my view fairly without us knowing who the whistleblower is and having a chance to crossexamine them about any biases that they may have. So if they dont call the whistleblower in the house, this thing is dead on arrival in the senate. Maria for a long time adam schiff said he wanted to speak to the whistleblower. Then we found out his staff actually did meet with the whistleblower. So now he doesnt want to speak to the whistleblower in any of the hearings any longer. Well, because whats going to happen, when you find out who the whistleblower is, im confident youre going to find out its somebody from the deep state, youre going to find out they had interactions with schiff and this thing is going to stink to high heaven and the only reason we dont know who the whistleblower is, that it hurts their cause. Theyre not trying to find the truth here. Maria this is a person who has secondhand knowledge of that phone call and not only that, but if we do identify this person as being the person who worked with john brennan, who started putting crumbs around and spreading this idea that President Trump had anything to do with russia meddling in the United States, right there we know this is all political. Yeah, the whole case hinges on them assuming a political motive with democrats view has impeachable on the part of President Trump but they will not allow anyone to learn about the political motivations of the whistleblower. S also, youre seeing why not a single republican in the house voted for this impeachment inquiry. Youre seeing why two democratss in the house voted against it. Adam schiff so far refusing to allow witnesses that counter the story hes trying to tell, so i dont see this week being a gamechanger until there is real accountability and a willingness to look into the underlying issue which is Hunter Bidens business in ukraine. If it was corrupt, i think its very hard to argue you could be impeached for blowing the whisn it. Maria dont for get what happened in 2016 and how they tried to frame donald trump. Until the democrats start showing that, the respect that it deserves and getting to the bottom of it, i dont have any this doesnt have any credibility. I think republicans have done a good job of undermining the impeachment inquiry by pointing out that its not fair, what that it has been run from day one with a bias towards the conclusion and a preset conclusion. Americans i believe are fairminded people. They look at this and they dont like what they see. So good for them because usually republicans are all over the place. This is a remarkable instance of unity in the party, id say. Maria the public hearings begin on wednesday. Any Market Impact . Its amazing how little the market cares about this right now. So much more aa tension on the u. S. China trade attention on the u. S. China trade and they couldnt care less. Maria as well as a backdrop to the u. S. Economy that just wont quit, that continues to show strength. Were just Getting Started this morning. Also on deck we have Robert Willke here. Bill white is here on todays veterans day parade where the president is the grand marshal. Paul riley is here on u. S. China and markets going forward. And dan useer on the allot on e impeachment hearings. And Hank Greenburg is here on hong kongs unrest, hes probably one of the most informed gentlemen on china and by the way, hes also a hero, a veteran. Well talk with him today. First, a quick break and getting off the ground, investors rattled as saudi aramco profits slide. We have details coming up. And singles day, alibaba and jd reporting booming sales, well bring you the numbers. Were celebrating americas veterans today all morning, stay with us. Weve got a lot to come on that. Back in a minute. Hey brother, theres. Hey sister, do you still believe my body is truly powerful. I have the power to lower my blood sugar and a1c. Because i can still make my own insulin. And trulicity activates my body to release it like its supposed to. Trulicity is for people with type 2 diabetes. Its not insulin. I take it once a week. It starts acting in my body from the first dose. Trulicity isnt for people with type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. Dont take trulicity if youre allergic to it, you or your family have medullary thyroid cancer, or have multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2. Stop trulicity and call your doctor right away if you have an allergic reaction, a lump or swelling in your neck, or severe stomach pain. Serious side effects may include pancreatitis. Taking trulicity with a sulfonylurea or insulin increases low blood sugar risk. Side effects include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, belly pain, and decreased appetite, which lead to dehydration and may worsen kidney problems. I have it within me to lower my a1c. Ask your doctor about trulicity. Hi honey, we got in early. Yeah, and we brought steve and mark. Experience the power of sanctuary at the lincoln wish list sales event. Larch lauren with details Lauren Simonetti with details in headlines. Lauren its fall but the National Weather service says nearly 150 daily record lows could be broken as much of the u. S. Braces for a blast of winter cold. Parts of texas could see the thermometer drop to 16 degrees and michigan could be hit by a foot of snow. Alibaba setting a record object singles day, 11 11, november 11th, the worlds laster 24 hour shopping event. Alibaba ringing up more than 30 billion in sales with 1. 5 billion coming in the first 90 seconds. Shares of alibaba after all that, i guess they discount a lot to drive traffic, down half of 1 this morning. Maria wow. First 90 seconds. Thank you, lauren. What do you think of that . Does that give you an indication of just china or the world retail . How do you look at that. Three things. I think it tells us we can invent a holiday and spur a lot of shopping, right. Scare youly part about this scary part bout this, these are fantastic numbers, but the third thing is the most important to remember is this pulls forward a lot of demand. So very much like black friday sales used to do that and wed say okay, but that means the next two weeks will be slow, the same thing is true with online commerce. This concentrate a lot of demand that would otherwise be there into a sin a single 24 hour ped everything goes back to normal. It looks like the Chinese Consumer is doing pretty well t last reports of consumption overall for september were better than expected. I think we have to keep in mind on this one, which is so ex store straightforward extraordinary, this is a new thing. They started it six years ago, like black friday gearing up, every year more people participate. Wouldnt take it as a baseline reading of the economy. The next six months could be bumpy. The total last he year was closer to 31 billion. I dont know if this 30 billion will be the total for today but if so, that would be interesting if there was not a lot of growth there. Maria the panel is not so impressed with 30 billion from alibaba. Well take a quick break. There is a lot of Economic Optimism out there. Jp morgans jamie dimons rosey forecast of the current economy is next, why he says its only Getting Better. Then, it is vet labs veterans l tell you the best ways to support americas heroes when they leave service. Stay with us. Hes still a soldier. Hes born red, white, and blue. Maria that was jp morgan chase, chairman and ceo jamie dimon, striking an optimistic tone about the state of the u. S. Economy. We are expecting a decline at the start of trading this morning, down 123 points, s p down 12, nasdaq down 38. Joining us now is ted ted oakl. Thank you for being here. Do you agree with jamie dimons sentiment. Not quite. If he looks at the gdp over the last four quarters, the way things are headed, its not quite as robust as it has been in the past. Weve had a subpar gdp the last 15 years, you want to look at it. But we have a hard time going out one year, much less 100. Maria so what does that tell you about where we are . Are you worried about a recession . Are you worried about the he slowdown deepening . We are in this respect. The numbers keep sliding a little bit every quarter, if you look at the underlying portions of what drives the economy. The consumer is what everybody falls back on but the consumer can fall off at any time and they are a big driver, dont get me wrong. But theyre only one driver. If you look at cap ex from corporations and various things, thats not working right now. So weve got our eye on it. Im pretty sure. Im not certain i would call a quarter a a recession but its slowing more than it was a year ago. You mentioned cap ex sliding. Is that 100 about the china trade dispute and does that turn around or is there some other issue in the u. S. Economy thats going to discourage Corporate Investment . I think one of the things, part of the problem is they have not been able to find organic growth they could develop internally and you see them buy things and do things like that. A lot of Financial Engineering. But its been a long time since we had a lot of companies that could really produce a tremendous amount of organic growth and theyve all flipped back in the last 10 years to using Financial Engineering to make their numbers go. Ted, art hogan. Im curious what you think about productivity. You look at the productivity numbers over the last six months, seems thats going in the wrong direction. What do you think the drivers are there . Could be a number of things. I think whats happening with corporations is that theyre cutting back ever so slightly on things that might make them more productive and it starts with the fact that their margins are pushing down a little bit right now. And i think thats having a problem with them and you cant see it everywhere but you sort of see it underneath. Ted, good morning, its liz peek. What do you think of the housing sector. I keep thinking with Mortgage Rates having come down that this sector of the economy which has been sort of sluggish could provide extra oomph over the next six p months. What do you sunshine. Youve think . Youve got a good point. He usually with lower Interest Rates we get a push on housing. We havent gotten as much this time. One of the things we find is the cost of the structure itself is having as much impact as p maybe Interest Rates had 10 years ago. The cost is keeping people out of the marketplace. Maria what about rates . Yields climbed above shortterm treasuries in recent weeks, positive sign that investors are not expecting a pullback when it comes to growth and inflation. When you look at where the 10 year is and theres a story in the journal this morning, once snubbed investments join the l rally, talking about some of these areas that have not petitioned in the rally but now are, perhaps indicating things are Getting Better and are expected to in 2020. Your thoughts on that combined with the low level of where rates are . Well, ill answer that question, maria, about 15 months ago i was on your show an expected rates to really come down a lot which they did. Jamie dimon, by the way, another point there, thought rates would go to 5 on the 10 year. We totally disagreed with that. But i will say this. I think they backed up. Its a normal backup. You go nine months in a move and then you back it up for 60 to 90 days or so and then you go again. We think its a gooden good y point for the treasury. We dont see the start of some i think what you want to call, what people want to call green chutes overseas but in general i dont think were at a point where were going to take off here for any reason. Maria i see. So have you changed your allocating of capital as a result of this . Do you pull back in u. S. Equities . Do you find opportunities internationally . Do you stick with fixed income . Well, we run both. And ill tell you, our fixed income is having the best year weve had in a long, long time. Because we were really big in the long treasury and were also this year we took part of that off but actually in the last week we moved that allocation back up and on the equities side we like equities, we just cant find a value we like so cash levels are higher than normal. Maria were in record territory so i get it. Thanks so much. Come upping, chaos in hong kong overnight again. Police shoot at least one protester. Carey lam yelon musk launches tt cars overseas. Maria welcome back, good monday morning, everybody, thank you so much for joining us, im Maria Bartiromo, it is monday november 11th, top stories before 6 30 a. M. On the east coast. Chaos in hong kong again overnight, Hong Kong Police opened fire on protestors at least 1 person was shot, hong kong leader lam saying society should condemn violent act of protestors, we have the very latest coming out. The news this morning out in hong kong and concern over u. S. China trade has futures looking lower, we are pulling back from record high this is morning with dow industrials 119 points and nasdaq futures lower by 39 points following record week of dow, nasdaq and s p 50 all ended week at alltime high, the s p was up almost 1 and nasdaq was up better than 1 n europe this morning european indices taking cue from wall street and trading lower, grew 3 tenths of 1 , below expectations, europe having a tough time generating any growth. The cac quarante in paris is down 10 and dax index in germany lower by 73, in asia overnight violence in hong kong and u. S. China trade uncertainty led to red across the board, as you can see the worst performer was hong kong down two and twothirds percent. More economic trouble for china, Consumer Prices rose at fastest pace in almost 8 years, price of pork more than doubled from a year earlier, index fell 1. 6 in october compare today year earlier that was the steepest decline, back in the u. S. Today it is veterans day, President Trump will make History Today becoming the first sitting president to attend the veterans day parade here in new york city. Plus Corporate America is saying thank you, details of some discounts being offered to veterans and active Service Members coming up. Today thank a veteran, will you please. It is veterans day. In an effort to aid veterans with access to health care, Trump Administration is rolling out the mission act, polly giving veterans greater access to health care, joining me United States secretary robert wilke. Thank you for having me. Maria thank you for your service and all veterans this morning, heart felt and sincere thank you for their courage and leadership. Well, thank you very much. Tell me about the issues of veterans today, you are the secretary of Veterans Affairs and took over in the midst of a lot of questions about health care, about the way that veterans are treated when it comes to their health care and the basic situation of the va, how would you characterize things today . Well, i think va turned a corner well over a year ago, i was able to present to the congress the largest budget in the history of our department and i would say following on what you you mentioned about the president being in new york, the largest veterans parade, this is the first president in post World War Ii History whoever made veterans the center piece first of campaign and then of his administration but more importantly, we have opened so that we are part of integrated health care, since the mission act took over in june of this year, weve sent over 2 million veterans into the private sector, we are doing what i know you preach every day, we are offering them choice, choice in the medical marketplace and we now have thanks to this president and thanks to choice, the highest veteran satisfaction rate in our history, we are sitting at 89. 7 and in the latest veterans survey, 90 of their millions of members said that they looked at va for health care and recommending those veterans who are not with us to come in. So we have turned a great corner. Maria yeah, its great to hear and yet here we are just a few days away from the government being funded and it feels like the military, the Defense Industry lives from continuing resolution to continuing resolution, tell us about the need in terms of our military and whether or not theyre being met from a financial standpoint and and as we watch congress continue to debate about how much money should be allocated toward the military . Well, i certainly agree with you, in my previous life i was under secretary of defense in the first part of the Trump Administration and try to plan stageically when you dont know where the funding is and how it will appear from the congress. We have the same issues here in va, if they dont do their business, im going to have to cut back on Certain Services for our veterans and thats a shame particularly at a time when va is at a new and better place and better position for the 21st century. Maria yeah, when you look at the military on duty today, they are trying to balance this, you know, being ready, the readiness of our troops and our Armed Services with the whole idea of trying to invest in the future, trying to invest in the technology needed and they cant do this with uncertainty on this veterans day we have a new survey that we want to get your take on, 49 of veterans feel uneasy with the expression thank you for your service, this as the survey maria i feel like Corporate America has been good on this front in terms of offering jobs to our veterans, making sure when they come home they have resources, what else do veterans need right now . Well, what veterans need is the expansion of choice, not just in the medical sphere but also in the workplace, we have wonderful partnerships with Companies Like walmart, phillips and tmobile, in fact, im headed down to my home state of North Carolina in december to kick off a walmart veterans clinic in a Walmart Store in North Carolina, thats the way to the future and the reason i say it like this, im a child of the 1970s, my father was a senior officer in the 82nd airborne division, maria, in those days as part of the most decorated combat unit in the armed forces, he wasnt even allowed to wear uniform off post because of times. Maria wow. We always have to guard against the return to those dark days that i certainly saw as a child in 1970s. Maria you make a great point and that requires education, people who were not there and dont necessarily know the history need to be told and aware, good to see you, thanks very much. Thank you, thank you, maria, say fellow to my favorite deacon dagen. Maria i will send her your love. Take care. Maria as the nation honors veterans fox news is hosting a jobs fair for those who bravely served our country, 5 veteranowned and operated businesses will be on fox square today, abby is joining us right now, shes down there on fox square with more, abbey, good morning to you. Im a veteran, i love to be an american, im living the American Dream, my father was sharecropper from the field of kentucky and allowed me to join the military and live the American Dream. What do you think that allows you to build incredible businesses after the service . Theres no high or low, you can do whatever you want to do, achieve whatever you want to achieve as long as you keep your company, your focus in mind. I love that. M. , biggest veterans day weve had in america, over 3500 veterans, commander in chief will be in new york to open up ceremony this morning at special speech for the veterans to kick off the parade, and donald trump has a very unique perspective on this parade. Maria he has a history with his party, when he was a civilian. Almost 25 years ago when i hate to say that the vettance were actually having to pay for their own parade in new york, indicative of whats going on in in new york if you want to think about it, 25 years later, so donald trump didnt like that and he very generously wrote a very big check, we wont say the amount but it was huge, okay. [laughter] and hes a great guy and loves our veterans and hes so happy to be here, you know, he could be in many places today but he decided to come to his old hometown to the parade he helped 25 years ago. Maria 25 years ago he gave the support for the parade, how did that happen, why was it so important to him back then . Yeah, vince who is marine and ran parade today and so come full circle, vince went up to the donalds office and the donald, i say that respectfully, mr. President and he said, will you please help us because we have to save the parade and he told, vince, youve got it, done. Hes a Great American, vince and the parade folks are Great Americans and, maria, i want to thank you because what you did today and what youre doing always youre a great supporter of our nations veterans and ive known you for almost 25 years, this means the world that people come out and say thank you, saying thank you isnt enough, what we are saying is we have to do more than just say thank you, we learn how to do that, right, after vietnam and now we have to do right by the veterans when they come home from the awful wars. Maria youre absolutely right. Lovely to hear the story about President Trump because im sure his critics would say, well, yes, he talks a good game about veterans taking care of them, this is real and this has gone back a long time showing his support for these people, i mean, credits to him and for you to continuing this. Thank you. Its true, we are trying to stay away from politics today, you know, and i really appreciate you saying that because its a day where we no punt intended put the guns and bullets downs and find a way to say thank you, sometimes the kids walk up to the veterans and say thank you so much for serving our country, you know what it means to a man or a woman because they do come back, they are suffering a lot of serious things, pts, tbi, suicide, alcohol and drug addicts, joblessness, homelessness, a lot they deal with at a young age and they see a lot of things people shouldnt see. Thanks for going to do that, they feel great. Maria yeah. Thats psychological first aid right there. Maria one of the ways people can help is to hire a veteran, right, one to have best ways to support veterans after they leave services, 80 of Small Businesses support hiring veterans, but only 46 actually report doing so, so bill, i want to get your take on this, 23 of veteranowned businesses report recruiting veterans, characterize where we are in terms of business support for veterans. Saying thank you is not enough, back to that, i think we need to do more, i think a lot of great companies, you know, some of the people who helped support the parade, fred smith at fedex, these are people who really care about veterans and they understand the qualification merger of, hey, what does your dd214 which is what it means when you served equate to your job here at ibm, sometimes the Human Resources personnel are having trouble to figure out how to position them but if you think about it, they show up on time, leadership skills are great, Team Work Skills are great, they want you to succeed, their colleague at the office, they are not trying to one up you and beat you over and thats something that little missing in Corporate America. Maria leadership, courage, team, so many reasons in terms showing up saying yes, sir, yes, maam. Maria respect. We see this in employer surveys, thats whats missing, they are looking for people who as a rule after of those they are called soft skills but are important. Aint that a great thing . Lets hire veterans today. Maria congratulations. Thank you so much for joining us, thank you. Quick break and then card discrimination, gender bias for apple card next. To invest anyw. Fidelity. Your top stories, 7 00 a. M. On the east coast. Chaos in hong kong to report once again overnight. Hong kong police opened fire on protesters this weekend, at least one person was shot yesterday. Hong kong leader carrie lam says society should condemn the violent acts of the protesters. As demonstrations enter the sixth month this morning. U. S. China this morning, President Trump says a rollback of tariffs has not been agreed to at all. Raising concerns about the phase one of the trade deal being completed, has markets lower this morning. The news out of hong kong, concern over the u. S. China traitrade situation, has the dow down. Markets are pulling back from record highs last week, it was an alltime high for major indices last week. They all ended the week at fresh new highs. Dow industrials friday was up 6 points, but was good enough to record and clock in 27,681, an alltime high for the dow. Ditto for the nasdaq and s p 500. In Europe Markets are lower, the u. K. Economy grew at a rate of 3 10 of a percent in the Third Quarter. That was below expectations and europe has a tough time generating any growth. Fq100 down 82 points, the cac in paris is down just about 1 point and dax index in germany lower by 65 points right now. In asia overnight, that violence in hong kong along with uncertainty over the u. S. China trade deal led to red across the board there as well. Look at hong kong, hang seng index down 2 and twothirds percent. More economic trouble for china, october Consumer Prices rose at the fastest pace in almost eight years. Thats because of the price of pork. It more than doubled from a year earlier. The Producer Price index was lower, down 6 in october versus a year earlier p. Thats the steepest decline since 2016. There is couldnt veer you sigh around the apple controversy around the apple card, gender discrimination accusations against Goldman Sachs, accused of giving women smaller credit lines. And incredible video of a group of mini cheetah robots in action, wait until you see what they can do this morning. Joining me to break it down, chief market strategist, art hogan. Fox news contributor, liz peek is here and James Freeman. Great to see you this morning. Great to be here. Maria thank you so much for joining us. Weve got a lot to talk about. The first hour, we sort of put our finger on a few things. What struck you most, whats most important to you this morning on veterans day. On veterans day, i have to apologize, i was hanging out with a veteran and i thanked him for the delicious Fried Chicken but i forgot to thank him for his service. Thank you. Big thanks to all of them. Maria hopefully hes watching right now. I hope so. Maria theres courage, leadership, theres so much we have to thank these people for, for fighting for our freedom. Speaking of freedom, obviously the hong kong story will get a lot of traction today. I think were all watching with baited breath to see what the chinese do to quell these now six month old disruptions in hong kong. Its really serious problem. Maria it really is. You wonder how much its pressuring xijinping at this moment in time when hes trying to do a deal with the United States. All of that is happening right now. And then theres the impeachment inquiry. Take a look at this live picture of capitol hill right now where high stakes public hearings will begin this wednesday. President trump is expected to release the second transcript of his phone call with the president of ukraine. Lawmakers are still demanding to hear from the whistleblower directly but democrats continue to hide his identity. Yesterday, i spoke with house kneminority leader kevin mccart. He said its orchestrated by intel chairma chairman adam sch. Its clear more than ever this is a calculated coup and its being orange stra orchestrm schiff. Maria they want to get this done before americans go to the polls and make their choice for 2020. Tell me about the timing here and what youre expecting in terms of next week, the upcoming weeks hearings and when this will go for a vote to impeach the president , how does that play out . Were less than a year away from electing reelecting the president. Why wont they trust the American Public. This has been orchestrated. If it goes out longer, well find the lies, find how they calculated the coup, find more from the whistleblowers attorney and others. Remember this, when adam schiff said he wanted the whistleblower to testify and now he does not, hes fighting us on it, because everything we found out his his association. In a federal criminal trial. Maria joining us now is pennsylvania congressman, mel dn muser. Its great to see you. Great to be here. Maria on your committee, tell us where you see the challenges right now for our veterans. Well, we have 180 million veterans in our country, 800,000 alone in pennsylvania. Thats my honor to serve them on my Veterans Affairs committee every day. Last year the Congress Passed under Republican Leadership and under the president s urging the Veterans Mission act and the veterans choice act. What this did, it expanded Community Based service, alleviated a lot of issues at the vas and allowed veterans to see urgent care and other medical needs, gain benefits from the community. So its really been something thats been very, very meaningful and has a great impact. I have two vas in my district and both are improving all the time and veterans care is going up. And can you talk a little bit more about choice, because were debating for the whole country how much choice we should have or whether we should be forced to remain in a government system. The va was kind of a closed system and now more open in terms of veterans being able to go to wherever the best care is or what is exactly what exactly are the options now . Theyre figuring out whats best. Each va has its own capabilities and strengths. So likely it will end up being very much of a hybrid plan, so as, again, theres choice, theres quality. Really, the same things that we should seek in our own healthcare system. But the fact is, things are Getting Better. We also have a bill right now called the improve act, because we really have a we have a suicide problem with our veterans. I mean, there are 22 veterans a day that take their lives. Its very serious. It hasnt ill proved over the years. We improved over the years. We have the improve act and hopefully we get it through our committee. The va has been known to be a very bipartisan committee. Right now, sadly i think politics is entering into even the va committee because were running into disruptions on a very, very good bill, called the improve act. And as you its no surprise to anyone, the level of how politics has poll lieutenanted much of polluted much of whats taken place in congress, the impeachment process, we have procedural issues, players that are highly suspect and weve got no facts. Theres no this for that, theres no quid pro quo. So its really consuming. Is the act mainly targeted at mental he Health Facilities for veterans . Is that what theyre trying to go after . It is. Its more mental health. Sadly, 70 of the veterans who take their lives dont utilize the services at the va. Its outreach program. It seems like a horrible statistic for this country to put up with. Incredibly sad. Maria you talked about how politics is getting involved in everything. Here we are trying to honor veterans and youve got these bills. Its actually moved to the needle and yet the impeachment inquiry is taking the oxygen out of the room. Youre a couple days away from the budget deadline. Youve got to fund the military. They are operating cr to cr. Youve got the china trade story. First on the budget, will there be any progress do you think or will there just be another continuing resolution here . I think the president and the republicans are very determined to assure that we dont have a shutdown. We do need the military spending as you mentioned. We have to have our veterans backs. Its crucial. So we do think december 15th will come and either with a shortterm cr or a longer term cv. But we do think were pretty confident there will be no shutdown. Maria how do you feel about china . The president over the weekend says progress is moving slower than hed like. Were following the bouncing ball, where the talks go and the impact to markets. Hes making it clear that hes not going to settle for anything less than what he calls a great deal. He debunked reports last week that any tariff woulds be lifted saying that thats inaccurate. What kind of a deal do you want to see and do you think we will see a deal with china by yearend . Well, i dont know. Which liki would like to see us. Thats all teed up. Theres more democrats every day saying they would sign on. Speaker pelosi is not bringing it to the floor. No one can figure out why, with the exception of politics. The china deal, the president is working on it with his team. Theyre negotiating. The president s a tough teg anothetoughnegotiator. Hes going to make sure its a good deal, not just any deal. December 15th is the date on that as well. Weve got toys are in that tariff. Maria the potential increase in tariffs was supposed to take effect december 15th. The most important thing about that phase is the agriculture. It will really open up for ago cuagriculture. Its likely to go through. Theyre going to continue to negotiate. Can you remind us, is there a time limit on usmca . When does this have to be done and what happens if it doesnt get accomplished . Within this congress, right. The bill itself. Maria its got to happen by thanksgiving i would imagine. If it doesnt, then how many days do you guys have left in three weeks until we get 13 or 14 actual session days. So yeah, it certainly needs to move aa long. Maria 14 session days left until the end of the year. If she doesnt bring usmca soon, its not happening. There is some caucuses, i wont name them, they they have democrats n and republicans on them that are planning to issue letters stating this is something that needs to be done. I think at this point the country is cla hoping for hit. If it doesnt get done, theres no excuse than to give our president and the country at the same time a win. Maria i want to get your take on whether or not the republicans are going to be able to win back the house in 2020. Top House Republican peter king has announced he will not seek reelection in 2020. He served 14 years, the latest retirement for a republican congressman ahead of 2020. How do you see 2020 . Do you think you and your colleagues will be able to take the house back . I do. Theres 31 seats that are socalled swing districts that lost in 18 by a total of 86,000 votes. There were 8 million voters that did not show up in 18 that did show up in 16 voting for the president. Weve got a lot of positive trends. Were woking on things that are in the interest of the American People, our economy is doing phenomenally well. We bring trade together, we have a cooperative fed, we should continue to have a booming economy. And yes, and then we have to prove to the American People that were if right ones toss be i ones to be in charge to lay out and execute the plan. Is there any chance republicans break up over the impeachment inquiry that, the coalition does not hold together, in your view . I dont think so. I dont think so. And primarily because the process is so poor, were not being included. The players are highly suspect from the whistleblower. Every time you turn around to the whistleblowers lawyer, called for a coup two years ago and a lets get down to the facts. Theres no this for that. It doesnt exist. Theres no evidence of it, except conjecture and guess games. Maria big problem with the process and here we are about to start public hearings. Congressman, thank you. Thank you very much. Maria appreciate your time very much. Still ahead, card discrimination, Goldman Sachs responds to allegations of bias. And robots rock, watch as these cheetah he robots flip, run and play association. Were celebrating americas veterans all morning this morning on fox. Well be back. Stay with us. Maria welcome back. Two people are in Critical Condition this morning as protests in hong kong turned violent overnight. Lauren simonetti with the details this morning in headlines. Lauren this affecting the market there as well. Hong kong pro democracy demonstrator was shot by police early this morning as protesters tried the to block roads and hold up train service. Video of the shooting went viral on social media, shows an officer firing multiple shots toward the cloud. Elsewhere, a man was set on fire after consistent fronting conff demonstrators. This is one of the most violent days in the six months of protests in hong kong. Weeks before wework expected to begin publicly trading its stock, the startup was sparing with the securities and exchange commission. That according to the wall street journal. The paper adding that the sec zeroed in on how wework framed heavy losses and ordered the company to remove certain metrics from its prospectus. If you want to play soccer but dont have anyone to kick the ball around with, mit has an answer. It created the mini cheetah robot and trained it to play the game. It can do flips. It can nice landing. It can walk rightside up like we can and also upside down on its hands. It wont win a marathon. Its top running speed, about five miles an hour. So maybe we can keep up with them running. Imagine being a stew tent o stus campus and seeing those things walking a along with you. I think its profoundly creepy. Lauren profoundly creepy. Maria we spent a lot of time at mit, during my report for my a. I. Special. Theyre doing so much innovating and using a. I. And robotics to come up with ways to do jobs better, the jobs that people dont want. I expect one of them to replace my job within moments, really. Maria its making people better. Its assisting doctors, for example. Right. New tools, makes us more productive. Thats the key to higher living standards. The only one i want in my house is the one that goes and and vacuums everything. Maria President Trump says a rollback in tariffs is not in the cards. Hthat has not been agreed to. That raised some concerns about phase one of a trade deal. Markets down as a rum. The battle over billionaires continues, jamie dimon takes on Elizabeth Warren over her comments on the wealthiest americans. Back if a minute with that. Back in a minute with that. Do you recall, not long ago we would walk on the sidewalk all around the wind blows we would only hold on to let go blow a kiss into the sun we need someone to lean on blow a kiss into the sun we needed somebody to lean on all we need is someone to lean on maria welcome back. China trade tensions are back. President trump telling reporters over the weekend that he would be ready to pull out of a deal while jamie dimon is hoping that the tariff situation is resolved as soon as possible. Theyre moving along. Theyve moved slowly, much too he slowly for me. But they want to make the deal much more than i do. But the trade talks with china are moving along i think very nicely. If we make the deal that we want, it will be a great deal. If its not a great deal, i wont make it. The risk of tariffs, it ends up being a trade war as opposed to quietly negotiated things. It has to be resolved. This is not going to war. Overing. This is trade an economics and resolution would be a good thing and so i hope that takes place. Maria and joaning me right now is the ceo of Raymond James, paul riley. Thanks so much for joining us this morning. Good to be here. Maria you can understand why jamie dimon wants to see closure here, wants the deal to get done. Financial services are about to get a huge win. China is going to be opening up its markets so that Financial ServicesCompanies Like your firm, jamie dimons firm and insurance companies, et cetera, can actually own out and out their own business in china rather than owning 49 of a joint venture with a chinese company. Do you have plans to own your own business in china if allowed to do so . Well, no immediate plans. We do have a small office for merger and acquisitions part of our business. Competing in china is very difficult. Certainly under the old regime, almost impossible to lock up so much capital and only not have control. So at least opening far gets is a step one markets is a step one. Theres a lot of very Strong Companies that established themselves there. At least it will be an open Playing Field and a fair chance. Maria how important is a deal from your standpoint . I think for the u. S. Economy its important, first there certainly has been an imbalance in trade with china and having tariffs i think balanced across the board is the right thing to do. But it certainly adding uncertainty. You can see it in the market, every time theres a tariff off or tariff on comment, by either side, the markets react pretty robustly. So it will be good to get us behind it. Its like any deal. It has to be a good deal. You cant make one just to say you did and then it not really have an impact. Paul, art hogan. As we look at the Investment Banking calendar of late, and i know Raymond James is one of the largest players in all of the deals that are out there, is the fact that wework never made it a positive for whats left on your calendar. How do you see things transpire for the end of the year, into the First Quarter of next year, in terms o of deals coming to market. Weve seen a pickup of deals coming to market and weve seen in the last year very robust merger and acquisition activity. So the underwritings were probably off, except for the really big underwritings last year. But were seeing an increase and theres certain sectors like oil and gas and others that are still really tough because of the pricing today. So calendar looks better, certainly, than the last quarter of last fiscal calendar year. But well see where the markets go. Especially going into an election where i think theres a lot of uncertainty. James freeman as the wall street journal. Related question on ceos having confidence to pull the trigger on deals, theres also the issue of making big investments. Capital expenditures not where we would like them. S do you see them kind of in a sluggish period here as people wait to see what happens with china trade, with politics, et cetera . Well, again, weve seen a lot of m a activity, probably more in the middle market. I think a lot of private equity firms and other investors are still longterm positive. But if youre going to open up a plant in china or Something Like that, sure, youve got to get those kind of trade and tariffs and im import export things of the way. Again, the more certainty, the easier for people to invest. The m a market has been pretty active and pricing has been pretty high. Thats showing signs of confidence especially id say in the small to midmarket part of the business. Maria especially where markets are. Were in record territory. You mentioned the election. Progressive candidates could disrupt the Financial Services industry. Billionaire Michael Bloomberg considers a president ial run. Elizabeth warren looking to target big tboong banks to pay r sprawling programs. How does wall street feel about the lineup of candidates and where this is going . I think wall street generally wants a balanced candidate that understands that the Financial System is important to the American People and that believes that a capitalistic system is doing for the economy. And certainly theres changes, whether taxes are higher in certain income brackets or others, i think people are flexible. I thinks drastic changes such as proposals to give away 15 of companies to employees or the wealth tax being ramped up, i think theyre disruptive and weve seen around the world it hasnt worked. Theres always going to be change many i think people are open to change and there could be better income equality and lots of things. I think its how you approach it. Maria some of those ideas are pretty out there. Meanwhile, Raymond James posted strong earnings a couple weeks ago, beating expectations. Tell us what drove the quarter, paul. You know, its a great quarter. We actually for the year had record results on revenue, on all four of our businesses, private wealth, which is our largest business, Capital Markets business, the bank and our Asset Management business and we would have had Record Net Income in every business except Capital Markets where we had some accounting charges for closing some overseas businesses, some small ones. So its a very good year. This year, a little more headwinds with Interest Rates coming down which certainly helped the last couple of years with earnings. But the market looks pretty good so i think well have a decent year but certainly going in with Interest Rate cuts being more challenging. Paul, last question. Do you find that investors are particularly concerned about the impeachment inquiry taking place . I think it fits in more to the uncertainty with the election with all the changes proposed by some candidates, impeachment, trade wars, markets like certainty. People like to invest in something they think they have a clear sight into and all of this is a lot of noise. Although i think a lot of people have tuned it out. Weve gone from a threefourths of our investors being positive to twothirds in the last quarter in our survey. I think thats more concern about the noise and not sure whats going to happen p. Thank you. Maria great to see you. Thanks so much. Thanks, maria. Maria paul riley joining us there. Good monday morning, everybody. Thanks so much for joining us. Im Maria Bartiromo. It is monday, november 11th. Your top stories right now. There was chaos in hong kong overnight. Hong kongs police owed fire on protesters. At least one person was shot. Then hong kong leader carrie lam said society should consistent e violent acts of the protesters. The news out of hong kong and new concerns over u. S. China trade talks has futures pulling back. Dow futures down 120 points, s p down 12 and nasdaq down 38, this on top of a record week last week where the dow, nasdaq and s p 500 all ended the week at fresh alltime highs. Dow industrials up just a fraction on friday, but good enough for a new record high of 27,681. Nasdaqs new record high, 8,475 and s p 500 at 3,093. In europe this morning, a different story. We are looking at weakness across the board. The u. K. Economy grew at a slow pace in this quarter. Off 3 10 of 1 in the Third Quarter, below expectations. The cac is down 4, dax is lower by 53. Asia overnight the violence in hong kong along with new worries over the u. S. China trade pact led to red across the board. Hang seng index down 2 andahalf percent. More economic trouble for china, october Consumer Prices rose in the fastest pace in eight years as the price of pork doubled from a year earlier. The Producer Price index was down 1. 6 in october versus a year earlier, the steepest decline since 2016. All those stories coming you up. Our top story this half hour, Goldman Sachs accused of gender discrimination over credit limits for the apple card. Steve wozniak says he was allowed a credit limit much larger than the one given to his wife. Goldman sachs is responding to the accusations, saying this. As with any other individual credit card, your amply case is evaluated application is evidence evaluated independently. Personal credit scores, how much debt you have and how much debt is managed, based on those factors its possible for two family members to receive different credit decision. In all cases we have not and will not make decisions based on factors like gender. Joining us right now is judge andrew napolitano. Good morning. This is the a apple card which is administered for apple by Goldman Sachs and so far we all know who Steve Wozniak is. Its almost unconceivable, that he would have 10 times the credit as she. Their assets are jointly. This is anecdotal information. It isnt a lawsuit. In my opinion, this will probably mature into some kind of investigation by regulators. It goes without saying that credit worthiness cannot be based on gender. Its not even a check mark. Its not there. Its nothing anything that can be considered. We do have some extreme examples of people whose wealth we know getting supegetting superlatived their spouse getting t ratings not nearly as close. Knowing Goldman Sachs, i imagine they were thorough. I dont know how this happened. They may have to explain how it happened under oath and before some inquiring body, i dont know if its going to request a judge and jury or just regulators looking to see what happened p. Theyre blaming algorithms, its always the algorithms. There are people who write the algorithms. My one question would be is there a different credit experience, men versus women, i wonder. Historically theres a different credit experience but in terms of whether or not gender can be taken into account good question. It absolutely cannot be taken into account and im sure the Goldman Sachs people and whoever writes the algorithms know that. They have legal departments that can tell them. This ise is discrimination 101,t you cant discriminate on the basis of gender. Maybe the wives were more conservative politically. [ laughter ] maria you never know. This is early days, looking at this. Youre talking about a few people. We dont know on twitter. We dont know exactly what was entered in, so forth. Thats why i said, this is anecdotal. This is not an inquiry by a jury. This is wildly insufficient evidentiary basis for any regulation or punitive action to come about. Maria you know, it isa it is the beginning of something. Maria do the wozniaks want to put all of that out there, what shes done in terms of debt versus how much debt hes taken on. Thats a very good question. Maria what she spends, versus what he spends. Lets say the department of Consumer Affairs of the city of new york or the state of new york makes an inquiry. Its going to be public. Maria thats what im saying. If the wozniaks choose to use themselves as the beast in the night to Goldman Sachs, everybody in the world is going to know their assets and their debt. Maria exactly. Maybe they dont care. Maria theres a case coming before the Supreme Court tomorrow and that is the fate of more than 600,000 young immigrants called the dreamers, thats hanging in the balance, the daca situation. The court is looking into the proposal to throw out the policy that says im grant immigrants n u. S. Soil are exempt from deport station. What ddeportation. What do you think the judge does. The daca side of the argument, the people are young adults, they came here as babies, theyre fully americanized. Maria probably the only country they know. Correct. If you deport them, you deported them to a place thats alien to them. This is not the criminals and the thugs that the president israel about. These are productive people, they haves Social Security accounts, they pay taxes, they live and they work productively and theyre a core part of the economy. Maria not their fault they came here illegally. Correct. Theres a provision of law that if a statute has not been enforced for a generation, you can rely on its nonenforce machine. If they have not been deported for their whole lives, they can rely on and plan on staying here. Thats their side. Heres the other side. President obama asked the congress in the last three years of his presidency, was controlled by the republicans, to enact legislation to keep the daca people here. Congress said no. Congress writes the law, not the president. The president then wrote his own executive order, saying you can stay here as long as you get a High School Education and pay taxes and dont get in trouble. The Trump Administration says wait a minute, the Congress Writes if law, they said no. The president cant write the law. This president , if he can write the law, would write a different law. So thats whats at stake here. Maria why was president obama able to do that . He lost in the courts and this is the final appeal. Even though he lost in the courts, the courts did not order deportation. So he lost in the trial court. He lost in the appellate court. This is an appeal of that. The Supreme Court will have the final say. Now, if the administration wins, does that mean that donald trump is going to deport 700,000 people . I dont think so. Knowing the president , do i think hes going to use this as a negotiating mechanism with the democrats and the house to try and finally rewrite immigration laws in the United States. But it will put those 700,000 people at jeopardy if he does prevail. Maria unfortunately, it feels like thats the only way to operate with these two sides who hate each other. You need leverage. Its just impossible, the state of affairs. You need as much of a stick as you do a carrot. The president knows that. Maria exactly. Good to see you. Maria welcome back. 2020 is on, massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren speak out on billionaires in america, breaking with one of her far left owe pon opponents on whetht billionaires should exist. Grady is live with the latest. Reporter Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren see a eye to eye on a lot of policy issues. Theyve been going after billionaires on the campaign trail. One area where they dig disagres whether billionaires should exist at all. Bernie sanders said they should not. Elizabeth warren was asked a similar question over the weekend. She says shes okay with the existence of billionaires but theres a caveat. Obviously, they should pay steeper taxes, she says. Because she says they made their money using taxpayer funded roads, police and employees who were educated in taxpayer funded public schools. Warren and sanders have proposed wealth taxes on millionaires and billionaires. And speaking of billionaires, jamie dimon, the ceo of jp morgan, responded to the recent criticism of billionaires in an interview with 60 minutes over the weekend. What i was commenting on is that anything vilifys people i dont like. Most people, good, not all of them, i think you should vilify nazis but not people who worked hard to accomplish thing. I think American Society is attacking each other all the time, i understand a person in this seat is going to with a target of certain politicians and stuff like that but the notion that im not a patriot or some other these other folks, thats dead wrong. My view is, lets Work Together and i dont mind if a few barbs are thrown my way. Reporter dimon also said he believes the economy is strong, hes optimistic about the future of it and he doesnt see it petering out. Maria thank you so much its amazing to me how much this idea that theres a war on wealth, i mean, this war of wealth continues and as i said earlier while grady was reporting,ic it was just one of the dullest things thadumbest things that Bernie Sanders said no billionaires should be allowed in america. Should they go to china . Should they go to europe . The thing is not to be angry at the wealthy and those that have done well in our country. The idea is to uplift the people who arent wealthy. Lets make everybody wealthy, that should be the theme. As opposed to demonizing people who have created wealth for others in the country. It is so offensive to me. Maria look at how they give back. Steve schwarzman gave 350 million to mit for education. Ken langone gave 100 million to nyu medical school. Does he want to eliminate that too . The real danger is that the warren or sanders plans prevent people from creating the next fortune in america which to do that in america youve got to create something amazing typically and so you worry about innovation. I think its great jamie dimons pushing back on this attack on success but hes still conceding the inequality argument to Elizabeth Warren and i think he and everyone else in the economy needs to explain why her inequality stats are bogus and its really hasnt changed that much over time. Maria i think youre spoton. The fact is, jamie dimon opened the door to Elizabeth Warren with that whole craziness that the Business Roundtable came out with and said oh, profits are no longer important. Other stakeholders are important. I mean, no kidding, your employees and the constituents, the communities you work in are important. You had to tell us that . And while telling us profits arent important . Thats ridiculous and total pr in my view. One of the things we have to remember, were in an election year. During the primary we have to hear crazy things on both sides. Youre going to hear the craziest of the crazy until you get to the general and then everything moves back to the center. Maria the Business Roundtable should defend capitalism. I totally agree. I dont think Elizabeth Warren can move to the middle. I think shes too embedded in her progressive programs. I dont think that can help. Maria how about pete buttigieg. Check out the journal and the op ed. They line up his policies and they feel really progressive. Maria welcome back ment 44 of Navy Federal Credit union and higher heroes are making the transition to civilian employment he easier for vets, releasing a lists of the best after service careers. Joining us right now is christopher plant and Senior Vice President of the greater pensacola Navy Federal Credit union, keith ho hoskins. Thank you for joining us and thank you for your Amazing Service to our country. We are grateful to both of you. You have a list of the best industries when you come back of after service. The top careers that we discovered, healthcare is number one. Then you look at Public Administration and government is number two. Number three, defense contracting. Number four is information technology. And five, Financial Services. Maria what are the metrics here . How do you come up with these industries and why are they so good once you leave service. One of the big things to realize is this list is not jut starting salary. We surveyed over 1,000 veterans and compared it against the higher heroes data. This is where veterans are being hired. This is where they can have a career path and they can have a sense of mission like they did in the military. And then also its ones that just speak out to them in terms of what is easily Transferable Skills from the military into the civilian world. Maria were looking at pictures of you in uniform. I want to ask about coming home. How hard is it to transition . I could tell you as a veteran, i served for 27 years in the United States navy. I have a mat master masters da bachelors degree. A lot of experience. When i retired from the military, i didnt know where to go. Didnt know the resource thats were available to me. That is why we took a look at the 250,000 Service Members, every single year, that are getting out. Thats 1300 families that are transitioning every day. So thats why we wanted to do this actual list to take a look at those factors, to support and provide service and also information to these veterans while theyre transitions. Maria 27 years, thats incredible to serve for so long, your country. Tell us about the benefits of hiring veterans. Do people get that when you come home or are people are companies afraid . Whats the reaction when you first come home . I will tell you, Companies Want to hire veterans. Thats one positive thing about the United States. They absolutely want to hire veterans. And the veterans are going to provide a good workforce. Just by being in the military, you learn leadership, followership, you know how to overcome obstacles. Many tiles, the companies are not set up for it. The active due you at this population is 1 of the population or less. The resume is going to look different. Their interview style is going to be different. So its tough for them to get through those barriers. Maria thank you so much, gentlemen. Great to talk with you both. I am suspicious about their iranian oil field iran is not a new oil prospect Oil Companies have been there a very long time seems very suspicious to me that they announced huge field as aramco from saudi arabia is trying to could go public seems extremely interesting timing. A good point, it is they need that oil because they want more revenue as sanctions have been hardhitting in iran. I think we ought to be skeptical about aramco offering as well years ago there was a a lope mys lift United States perhaps maybe london i think maybe didnt necessarily want the regulation that comes with that, and so this offering you wonder what you really buying how much does government still control earnings from aramco. Wonder if able to go public at New York Stock Exchange given the fact they will be liable to victims of 9 11 lawsuits. The issue. Maria that is the issue for the New York Stock Exchange. Things, as i was curious about you talked about when this happened they lost a third of their production, overnight in attack and animal to turn it back on two weeks i kwurs i wonder how much we found out how much that cost the filing how much money they lost on that process . Shocking, that was one of those things how did they do that just had the massive amount of capital that they had to put in to rebuild about a third of production got it up and going less than a month amazing, but expensive. Stories in journal this morning about aramco what this loss what this most recent quarter means, for the ipo our top story the impeachment fight continues, President Trump telling roerts over weekend he will likely release another transcript of an april phone call between himself and ukrainian president zelensky to prove he never acted immorally senator Lindsey Graham told me yesterday on sunday morning futures any impeachment efforts are dead on arrival if house cannot question the whistleblower in person. It is impossible to bring this case forward and not do it fairly without us knowing who whistleblower is, and having chance to cross xm them about any dies a if they dont call whistleblower in the house this is dead on arrival in senate. Adam schiff said he wanted to speak to the whistleblower then we found out that his staff actually did meet with whistleblower whistleblower, so now he doesnt want to speak to whistleblower in hearings any longer. Well what is going to happen you find out when whistleblower is i am kwst, you are going to find out it is somebody from deep state you are going to find out that they had interactions with with the schiff and things going to stink to high heaven the only reason we dont know who the whistleblower is, it hurts their cause, they are not trying to find the truth here. Maria joining us is Great America pac chairman former reagan chief white house political adviser ed rollins what do you think about this impeachment inquiry and the fact adam schiff is making rules as he goes aalong. Well the rule of washington, d. C. , is you have 218 votes in house you can do whatever you want they can vote inteechl tomorrow on president probably will, facts there absolute not impeachment in Court Decision in senate no the reality is democrats see this as big opportunity, and schiff sees it agency big opportunity, and i think to a certain extent it disturbs process democratic primary process, and to certain and then the i lived through watergate mart of nixon team there was a crime there a coverup there there is no crime here no coverup is there is no anything the reality is American Public will see that as time goes on. Maria i like the oped in the journal called nonwitnesses for impeachment, and how the Editorial Board goes through the fact that there are people that adam schiff wanting now he doesnt want them he wanted whistleblower now doesnt want to we are from whistleblower boptdz bolton no i doesnt want bolton want mulvaney might not want mulvaney why. There is issue people who were subpoenaed originally by house they are fighting the subpoena. We now are seeing reluctance to actually see this through in court on the part of the glats, a couple questions one is do this think they might lose set a bad precedent for them in terms of executive power relative to congress you might have a thought on this, about what they want to hear what they dont want to hear. I think it looks like they are he happy to schedule, the president , but if you are also perhaps someone from administration, might say i did not agree with this by the way, it is not illegal, the president has wide latitude conducting Foreign Policy wide latitude to put conditions on u. S. Aid. Equalling as important about constitution american process, president gets elected to set Foreign Policy what we have seen is a bunch of dissident types out of the state department elsewhere, disagree with the president s policies. Including, colonel vindman last week i disagreed with his policy how does a lt. Col. Working on not full detail assignment in white house say i disagree with the president . Gs 13 one of 8,000 colonels in army no disrespect to his military service war record but does he get to make decision how many votes do they get the bottom line about washington, d. C. , 535 people get votes, president Vice President , a hundred members of congress, senators set policy have right to be there the president basically has right to set Foreign Policy by our constitution. He is in charge, and by the way, i think did a poll of all lt. Col. S would probably be on president s side not that that drives it the int positive is he is duly elected leader sets policy they are not. The ambassador has not heard not her job, i have had four commissions bottom commission commissioned by president United States i was assistant to president you serve at the pleasure of the president of the United States the president day one wanted to say every ambassador is gone they would be gone reality they had problems with one of the stories may be i cant validate at the end of the day they wanted her gone, now to say wonderful woman 30 years so what . Thank you very much that is life. The whistleblower himself was innocent the white house, i wont name his name Everybody Knows who he with a as brennan guy gs 13 not low mid man level, and the National Security counsel he is not adviser to the president , it be National Security counsel to make sure state department, the defense, are coordinated, coordinating clerks. It may very well be he would say one of the people spreading nonsense that President Trump colluded with returns that put everybody in hysteria three years, i want to ask about 2020, former clinton stranlt mark pence told me yesterday an sunday is on he you thinks about Michael Bloombergs entrance to 2020 race would inspire Hillary Clinton do same watch this. There is something do you think she still is thinking about running for president. There is a couple days here i dont know whether she will look at bloomberg thing say too i had missed opportunity or the opposite, the field is weak i could come in get 155,000 i am tied with abide 911 some early states, still a political logic there for her. It was mark penn fierce said Hillary Clinton might still run that is why i asked that question. What is your take on the field, and do you really do you think that could actually happen. Big field, hillary also a had back of mindlike to be president cant win nomination unless she gets second or third or fourth ballot we have draement about for many years hasnt happened they cant go out today and put it together, mark obviously, still owed a lot of money ran her campaign but at the end of the day bloomberg cant walk in tomorrow take his ambulance of dollars buy an election he could do that in new york, he cant do that across the country. Lets not forget he gave democrats 110 Million Dollars in o to be and they did win the majority, because of he partly because of all money they had, did he buy that election. Who comes out basically says, he gave 110 Million Dollars helped get a win what delegate across the country person in iowa working in grassroots Bernie Sanders somebody else is going to say oh, my god, lets that is we need Mike Bloomberg we in new york think we might needed bloomberg after miserable mayor we have had i dont think he sells across the country. You are saying it doesnt matter with billions not going to help him. Donald trump did not win because of billions donald trump won because he was on this Network Every other network had 5. 8 billion dollars in airtime, he could sell this message went to wisconsin right to the people. Always a good idea. Exactly. Midwest. I made the case the republicans have done a good job of telling the American People, how unfair this process is, impeachment process, do you think it he could backfire on democrats that has been talked about who is a your view . I think certainly distracts from anything they want to argue what they accomplished in in cong. Aargument from several candidates running for president , inc. , weve three or four ugly months ahead i think to a certain extent by the time the country sees this process that there is no there there, asked serious question not about joe bidens son, he was in charge of ukraine expressly cruel and unusual punishment crunch new president elected by running against they elected a comedian advocated i want to do trump kind of stuff, so what did you do for six what was good question ed rollins, thank you so much great to see you a big rest of the hour join us as we talk with world war ii korean war veterans cochairmen former aig chairman ceo Hank Greenberg here china as well as veterans, the host of Varney Companys stuart ways in dont miss a moment we are slipping in a short break may not be winter yet but wicked weather on the way tearing through windy city live to chicago the a lifts there crude aawakeening oil field over 50 billion barrels in iran rally . Maria watching oil iranian president announced yesterday there is a new oil dealed that has been discovered in iran with estimated 50 billion barrels of oil made second Largest Oil Field in the country joining us right now is the achieve oil analyst, tom, great to see you thanks for joining us. Good morning. Your reaction to claims from iran . Well, you dont know if claims are legitimate or not they really underscore the notion there is going feedback plenty of oil throughout the decade, and we are much closer to Peak Oil Demand than we are to peak oil. You know, 50 years ago 40 years ago they said we would run out by the year 2000 the fact is, there is a lot of oil being found, that is what is going to set the stage for a very, very shaky 2020 for oil prices. You not only have a iranian oil tempered right now the fact they cant export it but guyana we think with jonestown in the 70s, is going to have 750,000 barrels a day of oil by middle of this decade so a lot of new oil being found, and a lot of reasons why 2020 is going to be very cheap year. Tom, curious what you think i know 2020 is a tough year certainly feels supply is going to out pervasive demand how do you think five years out think china, yind yoo going from bicycles to motorcycles to cars that kind of increase demand is that are we thinking too short term is there a longer term plan in energy that we are kind of missing here . A little bit of a longer term plan consider the fact since great recession, 1 2 billion people have one and a half billion people added to middle class pretty much use fossil fuel i think there will be another Inflection Point not cheap oil forever may come in 2021, 2022, or 2023. We are not funding a lot of projects right now to find these vast, vast Oil Reservoirs we are doing a lot of shortterm funding for oil shale which is great for the country, but, you know, you are talking about projects that bring on thousands of barrels a day as opposed to Million Barrels day fields. It seemed to me so suspicious that iranians would announce enormous discovery on cusp of aramco going public nothing could be sort of more depression on prices of oil equities than huge New Discovery do you think that is farfetched . Iran not like first decade people have been, exploring for oil, there. What do you think of that . I dont think farfetched at all clearly attempt to maybe sabotage how much saudi arabia gets with i ram coipo, yeah i mean you have to realize the source where this is coming it is coming from rouhani, haent been forthright when he talked about armaments groups, or nuclear program. That is what they are doing it is a mistake they know it is a mistake, they have been told. By many people, that is a mistake. Ihope it will settle down. I know you are back from china hank you met with obviously, lots of leadership there, do you think they are going to make any changes . Change their snemeentiment is hg kong a pressure for xi jinping . It is. No question about that. And i hope there will be a grade agreement, they are very close to one. And look. I think china is a very important to United States, and vice versa. World is very safe. If we have china and u. S. As allies. It is different if they are not. That is i think very important that we work that out. What will be different what is the down risk of no deal between u. S. And china. Well i had rather have as ally than not. Because they are moving to become the number one superpower of both economically and militarily. They would like to be, but we will see. Maria the president sponge out over the weekend he says look i am making it clear, i am not going to do a deal i am not going to settle for anything less than quote a great detail watch what President Trump said this weekend. They are moving planning slowly much too slowly for me, but they want to make the deal much more than i do. But the trade deals with china moving along i think very nicely we make the deal we want it will be a great deal if not a great deal i wont make it but the trade deal is moving along, and china wants to be about there. Maria president also said that tariffs the report that tariffs would be lifted, are inaccurate where do you stand chinese wanted tariffs completely taken off the table. Well, tariffs were not usually used historically. As part of trade agreements. In fact, we do a lot to help china when china came out of hibernation, and began to export, we helped them. And had very low the any tariffs at all for quite sometime. And so but to use tariffs alone as part of a tried agreement should be about secondary what should be part market open same as our. The inspector apparently getting a pretty good boom if allowed to own their company outandout in china one hundred percent what chinese are promising. When i was in china, i had dinner that evening first evening with the head of banking and insurance. Regulator for Financial Services. He told me that evening, they are lifting all restrictions an both classes of business. Now didnt make any difference to us because we are a company in china, and we are doing quite well. And we have big investment operation, we are doing quite well with both of them. Maria i know that i want to get to that in a seb, second are we sure china will hold on to that promise why should we as u. S. Take tariffs off the table if getting the promise of more Market Access not getting the promise that they are going to stop stealing intellectual property where are you on that issue . Look i dont think they ought to be stealing american technical information. But they are not the only country doing that. And so, you know, we got to keep in focus. We want to have china as an ally not as enemy we should not talk as if they are enemies. Do you think year getting a deem between u. S. And china. I think one is very possible. And then . . Who knows . So you stay maybe we will get phase one, but up in the air whether or not we do a deal where we are actually getting a commitment to stop stealing intellectual property stop the forced transfer of technology . I you know i am when you say stealing technology, some companies do some companies dont it hams all over world. Should there be a law in place saying it is unlawful to do is that. Do we have it in place. Yeah, we have patent protection in this country. Not all technology is patented. If you have a patent then you have the if you have a patent continue to get your information hestone. I agree if there is a patent. Okay. I agree with is that. You this i the chinese will keep to that or culture or not keep to it . I think they will keep to it partly. Okay. I dont think they will it will be one hundred percent. A minute ago you said look we have a company that we are already you already own your company you were the First Businessman in china back in 1919 when cornelius vander, star stepped off steamship started hired you you built this company, and you built aig. When star was alive, it was family of companies, and star was never part of aig never. We kept it private. And when i left, aig i took star out in mothballs. So the fact that they are having had a party they have stuff on web site they are selling, aig 100 you are saying it is inaccurate. It is it is. It was formed in 1967. But the star is 100 years old. Formed 1919. Did you do any celebrations for, about 100 . Yeah, we had celebration in china, by the chinese. And one in new york. Did you tell current ceo you want him to stop celebrating 100 years because it is not true. . He nose it is inaccurate he has to know that. I know important to you so i brought it up. Thank you. Because i know that you spoke with him, and you want the real story told. How did you start ai . It was large Insurance Company in history. Now a fraction of that. Yes. Yes, it is. And in terms of Financial Services overly i want to get your take on 2020. And what is going on in terms of this rhetoric j. P. Morgan chase ceo jd spoke out on 60 minutes on whether he bears responsibility for 2008 financial crisis when aig got a bailout listen to this. Do you take any responsibility for the financial crisis in 2008. Amazing talking about this after aig got a bailout from federal government had money out backdoor to Goldman Sachs you filed a lawsuit how are you feeling today. I feel the same way feel the same way. Aig did not needed a bailout actually, the government took all the stock, of aig when aig borrowed money from government charged 16 interest all the rest 2k3w0got 2, and 3 shareholders lost everything, incredible moment in time you did best to make sure people understood the severity of that how shareholders lost everything.
